Re: January IUI

• @Tulips29 @NurseTMD85 I'm in the same boat with a BFN today. I'm sorry for your disappointment I feel it too.
I'm new to the board and I'm currently waiting for AF in order to start cycle #4 where we will be using Gonal-F in hopes of producing 4-5 follicles for IUI with a plan to convert if I overproduce r/t my diagnosis of PCOS.
I wonder how I put my STATS at the bottom of my comments?

• We are doing IUI #2 this month (yesterday, actually) and now are in the TWW. Good luck!

• Thank you ladies. I'm going to talk to 2 other RE's this and next week to figure out my next step. The nurse from my current clinic called me today to deliver the bad news and said I may want to consider IVF. I'm scared to be completely honest and just want a second opinion. We'll see what happens.

@MarlyHC @chicandbubbly I'm in the tww too! It's torture. I want to test 1 million times... But I know the trigger shot is still in effect. I tested everyday my last IUI (tested out the shot... Then kept testing ...) it was so emotionally draining I decided not to do that this cycle! But the urge is strong!!What will everyone else be doing in terms of testing?? Wait for beta?? Check a hpt??

So sorry to hear these BFNs... Hugs**
• I waited for the trigger to be out of my system and then tested @nina7236 not sure if BFN was from testing too early or from the fact that it was a BFN...but it is emotionally draining. Someone posted about the 'headspace' app so I'm going to try that.

I found out a week ago today my pregnancy was likely not viable. I had my 4th beta today (CD3) and I'm now negative. I got the go ahead to start with femara today, with my IUI (3rd) taking place sometime next weekend.

I'm trying to remain positive and optimistic.

I went in yesterday for follicle check. Things are moving along. I have a few growing slowly but surely. I go back in Friday (CD11) for a follicle check and bloodwork then hopefully trigger that night and iui soon after.

• @laurenlalap so very sorry for your loss, stay strong!!

As for me, I went in today for my first follicle scan for the cycle (CD 12). I do not have any follicles close to being mature. The doctor measured a bunch of follicles, but they are all around 10mm. I will most likely go back for another scan in 3-4 days depending on what my bloodwork from today shows. It's so interesting because last month at this time I already had a mature follicle and the next day I took ovidrel. I guess it just shows that every cycle is different? Anyone else have experience with medicated cycles being different each time?

• @laurenlalap I'm sorry for your lost. FX the third time is a charm!

@erica0901 That happened to me this cycle as well. I had five follicles measuring between 9-10cm. Last cycle was totally different. I go back Friday for another u/s. My RE had to keep reminding me that every cycle is different, especially if it's a medicated cycle. Hopefully things work out for us. Keep me posted!

• Hey y'all
I wasn't expecting to do an IUI this month. After 7 failed IUIs, I was doing IVF. And I did *all* the IVF stims, and scans, and everything, but my IVF was cancelled with just 3 or maybe 4 good follicles. We converted to IUI, which we did yesterday.

I don't expect much-- I found a study where IVFs converted to IUI have slightly reduced chances compared to regular IUI. So there's that, but I also know that if I do get pregnant, my risk of multiples is significantly increased, and that's scary.

But here I am, 1dpo/dpiui!
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science

7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)

• Follicle check today was a flop. I had one 8mm on the right. RE wants another round of Femara at 7.5mg a day. I'm very disappointed.

• @erica0901 sorry to hear about the follicle slow growth. I just had the same thing happen to me this last cycle and I swear it was because I changed brands of shots from gonal-f to follistim. Past cycles with gonal-f and Femara I've had up to 2-3 mature follies and this past cycle there was only one, very slow to grow and didn't get above 18mm even. It's frustrating because my re is very conservative about the shots and doses because she only likes to see one mature. Are you doing shots too?

• Hi ladies. We're going to be doing our first IUI next Friday. We pay OOP and come to find out, they have a bundle IUI discount, which is cheaper than the TI cycles we've done. If I had known that, I would've just jumped right in. Sigh.

Hugs to all the BFNs and FX for everyone testing soon.

@KLake42 Sorry your IVF cycle got switched :-/ Will you be trying it again if this isn't successful?

@laurenlalap so sorry for your loss-- fx that this third time does the trick!
@amandaleigh2181 fx for your third time too!!
@erica0901 @arbasham good luck growing your follies!! I'm hoping they get to the right spot soon!
@KLake42 so sorry for your conversion but I hope it still works out!!
@lin&Esau good luck on your first IUI!

And for all those ladies in this tww with me- Hopefully it speeds up!!! Mine is feeling longer by the hour!
• @arbasham what cycle day did you go in for the ultrasound? I can only speak from my experience that every time I go in for an ultrasound they do bloodwork to check my estrogen, progesterone and LH levels. I would definitely ask your doctor to check your bloodwork because from my understanding that's the only way that they know for sure if you are surging to ovulate.

• @erica0910 I went for ultrasound on CD 12 (yesterday). The RE hasn't done any bloodwork at all for anything. Neither had my GYN. No exams or other tests either. I went, he talked to me about 15 minutes and gave me scripts for the Femara and Ovidrel and said he recommended IUI for faster results. Thats it. But the clinic comes highly recommended so idk.

• I am so sorry for your loss @laurenlalap<3
@Nina7236I feel your pain, I am 5dpiui and I am trying to stay busy but it is still dragging on!
@arbasham I have only had the one IUI, but they did not check my blood work. They saw I had a mature follicle (25) and two other smaller ones and gave me the option of triggering right then. If you are wondering, definitely ask your RE!

Ladies, what is your favorite thing to do during the TWW to pass the time?
I have been reading, coloring, shopping, baking, spending time with family + friends and I don't like it, but cleaning. There are so many "cleaning projects," I have and it definitely takes up a lot of time!! Also, praying and reading scripture helps a lot for me personally.

Thinking about you all!!

• @Lin&say, yes, if it doesn't work, we'll try again, but probably just once. After that, we'll try reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs and my uterus.

@chicandbubbly The TWW is so much easier when I have a really busy week at work. Of course, things are super slow this week and next!

• Disappointing day...went on for a cd11 foli check to find a whole mess of nothing. My cyst refilled to the same size it was before the aspiration and there were a bunch of small immature follicles. Largest one was measuring about 10x12. They are going to have me stim two more days and come in for a recheck but are worried to increase my meds as that could trigger too many of the follicles to mature. Looking like I might be out for this month..again!

I would appreciate thoughts on when you guys plan to switch to ivf???

So sorry to hear that. Are you going back in 2 days for another U/S?

I am 30 years old with uexplained. My husband has no issues. Given my age we're going to give it 6 IUI cycles before moving immediately to IVF. My clinic would move me to IVF after 3 but we made the decision to try 6.

• @PCOSat25 Sorry to hear that. I am still deciding if I should move on to IVF next after 3 failed (unexplained) IUIs. I went to a new RE for a second opinion and he seemed like he knew what he was talking about more than my previous one. He ordered some blood work to be done and waiting for AF to start to see what the next step will be. Part of me wants to give IUIs another 2-3 tries, but given the success rates, I'm not sure I want to go through them. Another part of me wants to move more aggressively so I can get pregnant already, which may be IVF. The new RE also gave me a higher dosage of clomid to see how I would respond and to decide if he wants to try another IUI or not. I hate waiting, but I want to do what's right also.

@Lin&say the Headspace app was recommended by someone on a different board. It's 10-minute almost guided meditation type thing. You can try out the first 10 for free. It seems to help me clear my mind, at least.

@PCOSat25 so sorry, hang in there!

@chicandbubbly busy work is always the best, but I don't have a lot going on at work right now, so the TWW is the worst. I ordered an "adult" coloring book (it's animals, but just harder / more detailed than a kids book) and some really nice coloring pencils, so hopefully that will help.

It's only day 4 post iui for me, and it's already annoying.

• Thanks everyone.

@laurenlalap yes I will have another u/s and blood draw Saturday to check on progress. The fear is just rhat since there are a bunch of small ones, too many would mature and we would have to cancel the cycle anyway. Just trying to manage expectations right now so I am not diapponted on Saturday.
• @tulips29 10dpo is still very early. FX for you. I have had friends (without IF issues) that got BFN up until they missed their periods and several days after. Everyone's body and cycle and timing is different. It takes a while for your little egg to travel down and implant, and then after that it takes a while to get the hormones going that are released to give you the BFP when you POAS.

Last IUI I POAS at about 10dpo and got a BFN and I definitely felt the same way you did - that there was no chance and I just wanted to get AF so we could get to the next cycle. So I know how you feel. I did end up with a BFN, but I think 10dpo is still too early and it could have easily gone the other way.

Try to stay stay positive, and find the support you need if it is a BFN, this board has helped me a lot.

• @Tulips29 I wanted to share with you what my doctor has suggested. He said he wouldnt suggest more than 3 iui s with letrozole, (i think it is clomid in your case) He said he would do 3 more iui s with injectables to increase the chance. I know that making decisions is very hard, i think it is one of the most stressful part of this journey. I am happy to hear that you got a second opinion and it is very important to have complete trust in your RE. Otherwise, the small what if questions and doubts start to raise in your head and it is no fun for me. Best of luck with whatever you decide !!!
