January IUI

Re: January IUI

  • @Tulips29 I wish it worked differently where if you just imagine wanting a child while BDing, you will end up pregnant but if you don't want a child, then you can still BD and not be pregnant. It sucks!!
  • @Jlowen2 haha, believe it all not, it's all I imagined last time. I kept thinking to myself, maybe if I concentrate on it hard enough, it will happen? Wish that was the case too!

  • @ZoeFer sorry you are having to go through that! I live in a state where treatments are not covered as well so I can relate! GL!!
  • @Nina7236 thanks and i am sorry about what you have been going through as well. This is a medical situation, it is very hard for me to understand how it s not covered. I did a lot of crying and self-pity sessions yesterday but woke up with more determination and hope. We started to search for alternative ways for coverage today. I hope we can go back to treatments soon.
Thanks everyone for the support and GL with you iui cycles !!
  • @ZoeFer I just read about your situation. I'm so sorry you have to be faced with this during an already emotional time. I wanted to chime in with my 2 cents even though I may not have much of a solution for you. I'm in a similar situation. My insurance told me that unlimited IUIs were covered under my plan. They then turned around when I already went through IUI #3 and said they were going to deny them. Long story short, and multiple angry phone calls to them later, they approved the first one but denied the other 2. Their reason was that they didn't see these IUIs medically necessary. I'm sorry, what? Why would I put myself through all of this if it wasn't medically necessary? Anyway, I've cried all I could about this and unfortunately had to pay out of pocket for the procedures since I already had them done. I'm still battling this. For what it's worth, I kind of told myself that the more I stress and cry over it, the more I harm my body, which in turn can affect everything I'm going through. I know it's not a solution for you, but I wanted to share my story and that you're not alone in these struggles. I pray that you resolve this and find a way to continue treatments. Big hugs to you!

  • Thank you @Tulips29 for sharing your story and your hugs :) I am sorry that you had to pay all these IUIs, I hope you get some great news soon ! Have you tested again or waiting for the beta ?
AF started today, I had my progesterone and pregnancy tests recently so dr. prescribed me Letrozole (5mg CD3-7) without baseline and I will use OPK then we will try TI. DH`s last two SA values had been improved, there isn`t any abnormality anymore, so maybe this could work, we ll see.

Is anyone going to have IUI this week ? Best of luck ladies !!!

  • @ZoeFer FX everything works out for you, stay positive!

I caved in and tested this morning since it's DH's birthday and I thought wouldn't it be an amazing gift for him. But of course I got a BFN. I decided not to let it ruin our day and for the first time didn't have a crying fit. I test on Monday, but I'm not expecting anything to change by then. I've been having cramps this morning which is odd because I don't get AF regularly or until I stop taking progesterone suppositories. I for sure thought this cycle would be the one for me :disappointed:

  • Hello guys!  I'm going to jump in here if it is ok. I will be doing my first IUI this month.  I am on cycle day 3 and just started 150iu of follistim yesterday. We have done 2 unsuccessful  medicated cycles of bravelle and menopur with TI so RE said it was time to move on to IUI.  Good Luck to all of us!!  I'm praying for bfp for us!!

  • Hi everyone. Looks like I'm doing iui this month so I'll join this thread if it's ok! @mrandmrssmith007 looks like we are in similar situations! We have been doing 3 rounds of TI with gonal-f and Femara, all ending in bfn, so this month I did Femara and follistim and we will do iui. I went in for an US on Wedneday and only had one follie at 14mm so did another 75iu of follistim and go back for another US tomorrow. Hoping that follie grows! Being that this is my first iui, I really don't know what to expect so if anyone has any tips...feel free to pass them along!
    Married to DH since 8/15
    TTC since 5/15

  • Thank you @roxgibbons ! I hope you are doing well, I think you had few tests/operations scheduled for next month. best of luck with your treatments.
@Tulips29 I am so sorry for BFN, still hoping for a BFP for you. FX !
@chicandbubbly They monitor your follicle growth and your hormones, and you can have sex as you like. When you are ready, you get a trigger shot. I was told to BD the same night of the trigger but not the next day. So I guess it is better you do not BD the day before IUI. At least this is what happened to me :) GL with your IUI.

And good luck to everyone here who is having IUI !!
  • Alright I am CD4 for this IUI cycle. I went on for my baseline and had an ovarian cyst aspirated yesterday. This cycle o am on letrozole and follistom. CD11 ultrasound will be on 1/14 and based on past cycles I expect to IUI on 1/15 and 1/16. This will be our final fresh cycle before my husband leaves for military duty and we have to switch to frozen speed. Fx for everyone this month. @ZoeFer I am so sorry to hear about your insurance issues. I too have found treatments much more expensive then expected and have had to figure out how to pay the majority of treatments oop. It sucks. I have faith that attitudes in this country on fertility treatment and maternity care are changing for the better. Hopefully they will change fast enough for all of us to take advantage.
  • @emgem819 Fx for you :) grow follie grow!!
@PCOSat25 ouch did that hurt? Never heard of that before  :#  Based on my past cycles they are expecting my iui on 1/15 or 1/16 as well.  My RE only does one iui each cycle which is a bummer! And we are using my husbands frozen sperm b/c of his work schedule.  It was his first time giving a sample and lets just say he had a ROUGH time with it and was not thrilled at the idea at all.  The worst part of it all is they said his sperm doesn't thaw well and only has 7% forward progression after thaw and they like to see at least 20% after thaw. Well, we will give it a go and see what happens.  It only takes one right!!!

  • Thanks @mrandmrssmith007 that follie must have heard you! After second US today it's now 18mm so I trigger tomorrow night and go in for iui on Monday morning. DH will have to produce sperm sample before he leaves for work which will be interesting. RE told us we could BD tonight but not to BD again until after iui. Seems to be different than others.

@PCOSat25 GL with your IUI and hope it goes well!

  • @mrandmrssmith007 it was actually much less painful than expected. I had definitely built it up in my head!!! I just did 6 weeks of be hoping it would resolve on its own. Finally the doctor said we would be waiting forever for this thing to go away so they took care of it. Glad to have it done so that we can move forward. We had wanted to do three IUIs before my husband leaves and are now just glad we can squeeze on two after that whole debacle.

Sorry to hear the results of your thaw test! My husband just provides his first sample for long term storage. We are waiting to see how his thaw test goes...
  • @ZoeFer I am so sorry to hear about your insurance coverage.  I know how long you've been waiting to start this month and how excited you were.  I hope you are able to figure something out and still get to do your IUI cycle, or maybe it'll happen naturally, who knows.  I wish you the best of luck.  Please keep me updated!

His first SA the count was 2 million, second was 4.5 million. His Urologist basically said it wouldn't go up much from there and IVF is our best option but we could try iui if we wanted. Well today the nurse comes in and says we got a great sample. Count was 24 million!!! Post wash nearly 10m. Absolutely crazy.

  • @mrandmrssmith007 I totally agree with @chicandbubbly, the IUIs are just a tad bit uncomfortable and they go by SO fast! Haha honestly last month my trigger shot was more painful than the IUI itself. The nurse was not gentle with it...

  • I went in for my CD12 u/s and she saw 5 follicles on my right ovary between 9-10cm. I lot my left one two years ago due to ovarian torsion. {Ouch} I'm playing the wait game until the RE reviews my notes.

Has this happen to anyone before? I wonder if I will have to go back in 2-3 days and/or take more letrozole with efforts to develop a dominant follicle.

  • @Tulips29 @NurseTMD85 I am so sorry for the negative beta ladies , I wish you good luck with your new cycles !!
@Drove2u Did you talk to your doctor why AF shows up late ? My last cycle, I had my AF on 17dpIUI and 17-18 days after positive OPK during the two medicated cycles before that . I asked my RE, he said it is long but they are worried only if AF shows up early not late. He found it `interesting` but did not make any comments. I was wondering if you know why this could happen. Anyhow, best of luck with your new cycle FX that this is your month!!!
