Hi everyone. I haven't been very active in posting but have been following everyone. I'm just sitting here waiting for AF to come so I can do my third iui. I'm expecting for it to come by nov 7. Seems so far away.
Hi all- this is my first time on this site and first time positing.A little background, I am 37 and DH is 38. I have two kids from my previous marriage (11 and 8). DH has none and we were hoping to have one of our own.
My DH and I have been trying to conceive since February 2015 and because of my age (37) I was referred to an RE in September. After some testing there were no glaring issues, except my AMH was borderline but the RE kept saying it was due to my age. DH's SA was good but motility was average at 30% The RE didn't seem overly concerned. The RE had me take Femara in the beginning of the cycle for five days and on my scan on CD 12 three follicles looked really good all between 18-21mm.The RE decided not to do a trigger and had me test with an OPK. I got my positive on Tuesday and the IUI was scheduled on Wednesday 10/21. The procedure went well, I've been a bit crampy- but generally feeling well. I'm just hoping for patience in the next two weeks, as the TWW is a killer I'm hoping for a good outcome. Good luck to all of you!

Hi ladies, im at CD8 and finished my last 50MG dose of Clomid last night. I just started feeling pain in my lower left side, almost felt like pain in my hip joint...maybe ovaries. That pain then radiated to my thigh and now it all feels like a burning sensation. Have any of you ever felt something similar? Going in for my midcycle scan on Monday CD12 and getting ready for an IUi and I'm wondering if there is anything i should be weary of to ask my RE or be on alert before the IUI. It will be our first IUI with meds and monitored cycle.

@laur2444 I hear ya sister. Trying to make a baby the unconventional way makes me a little... obsessed? Trying to figure out every twinge, cramp, wishing so hard for a little one, hating poor girls who are pregnant or have a baby, getting upset with my BF,myself, wishing I was a millionaire so I could do whatever I wanted to to try & have a baby.. it's alot. Sometimes it's overwhelming. I have a good life-even a great one I think, but I lose track of it when I'm obsessing about what I don't have. Take a break, lose count of the caffeine-laden cofees & glasses of wine, run as many miles as you want, and take a Zyrtec when your allergies are awful.
For all you ladies I really do feel super lucky to have your support and not feel like I'm the only chick to feel this way. FX for all of you in cycle or starting soon!
So, today is 14dpo, and I tested with a BFN waiting for AF so we can try Gonal F again. It's weird, but I don't feel like AF will be here yet. I'm pretty in tune when it comes to that (all my bloating has gone away, and no more cramps) So I wonder if I ovulated later than what the trigger estimates. Has anyone ever had the same issue? I just don't want to make the same mistake next round, and ovulation predictors don't work for us b/c of the PCOS. Maybe we will try temping this time. Any suggestions? Good luck and FX for everyone else's BFP!!

@drove2U I am in the same boat as you..Just sitting waiting for AF to start a new cycle. It will be my 3rd/4th cycle. My first 2 were unsuccessful nd my 3rd was cancelled due to no response to meds. So 4th medicated cycle but 3rd IUI..we are changing up the meds this time.
@rachlee2010 can I ask what meds you were on and what your switching too? I got the dreaded BFN yesterday. I'm trying to regroup while waiting for AF. I will be heading into 3rd iui. I was wondering if I should ask to switch off clomid? What's after clomid?
@alqizwik sorry on the BFN. I've started taking my temp again couple months ago but with the trigger shot it makes my temp shoot up the morning after I take it even though OPKs came back negative before I took it. But everyone is different. Give it a shot it might work for you.
@Krista537 I know you weren't asking me but I'm going to answer anyway haha for myself I mean. I took clomid for two rounds and responded too well so my doc is switching me to letrozole for the third iui.
@Drove2u I always welcome your opinion! I called my doctor in tears asking her what we can change for next round. She said since I am responding to the 100mg of clomid they won't change it, which made me more upset. This is my last round for iui before she wants me to switch to ivf. I just don't have the money for ivf so I'm feeling just bummed about the whole thing. I don't feel like I'm responding to well. I only got two mature follicles but one is on my side with no tube so to me it doesn't count. Apparently they don't feel the same way. Sorry for the long rant, I'm just so upset! (
@Krista537 There are other options besides Clomid and Femera, like injectables which will typically produce mature follicles in both ovaries. You can also do a combo with injectables and oral drugs. Ultimately, your steps are your decisions. If you can't move on to IVF but you can do more IUIs, you can do more IUIs. If your RE won't do it, another one will.

First RE appt. 5/15; Natural cycle 5/15 monitored with 2 mature follicles and Pregnyl Trigger (full dose) + prometrium - BFN
6/15 HSG - clear tubes & normal uterus; great PCT test results
TI - 100 mg Clomid + prometrium (AM & PM) + vaginal estrace (AM & PM) 6-7/15 (monitored) --> no additional response and thinned lining - BFN
TI - Injectables (follistim + Gonal-F, Ganirelix, & 1/2 dose Pregnyl) + prometrium (AM & PM) 9/15 --> 3-7 mature follicles (3 definites and 4+ that could have matured due to trigger) @ O -->BFN + 5 large cysts
@riveridgional thank you! The iui are pretty expensive but not as much as the ivf. So if need be I would have to switch and seek a dr. That continue with iui! Thanks for your info.
@Krista537 Another option is the injectable route and possible conversion to IVF. That is what we did this cycle. I am borderline PCOS, but 4 failed IVF cycles made my RE want to increase the injectables. He said if more than 3 follicles mature, we will switch over to IVF. This way, the cycle was technically IUI and my insurance paid for it, but then a last minute switch to IVF happened. The doctor only charged a portion of the full IVF cost too. You could always ask about that.
Has anyone experienced the procedure to blow out your tubes? I have one closed tube which I learned about through an HSG. I thought during this process, my tube would be cleared but have now learned I need another process (not sure of name). Has anyone gone through this? What can I expect?
@amos1417 thank you, I will have ask about that. My insurance doesn't cover anything to do with infertility which totally sucks! I asked my dr about switching to injectables or any other meds but she won't do it for this last iui. She said my lining would be effected so she just hopes I'll mature a few good follicles on my good ovary this time around. I have ivf consult with her next month just incase iui doesn't work. I just don't know how ill afford it.
@Krista537 Oh, I didn't realize insurance doesn't cover any of it. I'm sorry. I do believe that you are responding to the clomid the way they hope, by just producing 2-3 follicles at the max. My RE said that their goal is a healthy pregnancy, not multiples. Of course it's very frustrating, I believe that I have a blocked tube and was disappointed when I took letrozole/femara and only had 1 of 2 on the blocked side. Good luck and FX for you!!
@Krista537 I find it strange she said your lining would be affected by injectables. it should have no negative effect on your lining, but Clomid definitely can. Clomid thinned my lining, but my lining has been unaffected by injectables (it was a little thinner this time because I was on BC for cysts immediately prior to starting, but it still thickened up before trigger). Weird. I'm inclined to recommend switching REs...

@Krista537 This is also my last IUI and I asked about changing meds since this would be my last shot at it. I've been on Femara and trigger shot but RE said same thing I responded well to the meds and there was no reason to change it.
Thank you all for your support! It's is so appreciated. I think what my dr. was saying was a higher dose of clomid would effect lining. She said she won't switch to injectables due to good response to clomid so she want to repeat exact same thing. What frustrates me is they count the follicle on the side I don't even have a tube on. Granted there is a chance the good tube could pick up follicle but that is very very slim chances. I just need pull myself together and gear up for round 3. I'm just having a harder time this time around.
@rnthatruns0923 I couldn't have said it more perfectly or felt the same if I tried. It consumes every aspect of your life. I know I'll still be stressing out during the break, but at least there is nothing actively going on that I have control over. I just keep telling myself with medicine these days it is going to happen just a matter of when!
@krista537 I was on letrozole with injectables (2 months of gonal f and one of menopur) The doctor wants me to switch to clomid instead with the gonal f. She said letrozole is really good for people who don't ovulate on their own but I do and clomid is better at getting more than one follicle (on the letrozole I only had 1 mature follicle by the IUI)
@rachlee2010 that's interesting, I definitely don't have an issue with ovulating so maybe that's why I'm staying on the clomid! I hope it works good for you!
Dear all, this is my first post. I would like to introduce myself. I am 32 and my husband is 33. We have been TTC for 10-11 months now. I have been diagnosed with PCOS since I was 20. I started to take Letrozole 2.5mg for two cycles , they did not monitor during those cycles except blood progesterone levels were high enough to confirm ovulation I guess. After 2 unsuccessful cycles , Dr suggested IUI due to my husband`s low sperm count. Today is my CD11 and went for a sonogram and blood test. My follicles were small, largest one ~10mm and my endometrium was very thin ~3.2mm. They think the follicles can grow more, but the doctor seemed more worried on the endometrium thickness. So now I have one more thing to worry about . I guess they will not do the IUI if it is not thick enough. Last two cycles , I was using OPK and I saw the surge on CD17 and CD19. I saw some ladies had thin lining problems as well. Does anyone have a similar experience ? If I am having longer periods, could CD11 be early to see thickening ? I will go back to clinic on Monday morning , I hope I can just relax and manage to not think about my infertility during the weekend. Good luck to everyone that will have the IUI over the weekend.
@ZoeFer It is possible it can thicken up some naturally before the follicle(s) mature(s). However, that is pretty thin. I recommend at your next appointment you ask your doctor about taking estrace vaginally. When I was on Clomid, it thinned my lining. On CD13, it was 5.3. I began estrace that morning (2xs a day) and went back on CD15 or CD16 and it increased to 11.3.

@krista537 my dr wanted me to take clomid originally instead of letrozole but I was scared of clomid. I started at a different RE and took clomid but wasn't monitored very well and I didn't respond at all, never ovulated that cycle so I was nervous to take it again and figured it didn't work on my body. So then I had 2 cycles of letrozole where I did respond with one follicle. The 3rd cycle I didn't respond again. which made me realize that it might not be the clomid as much as my body was off that month. My dr said she always prefers clomid over letrozole. We then had a consult with the other dr in the same practice we are at and he also said he always prefers clomid over letrozole and both said you have a better shot of getting multiple follicles on clomid than on letrozole...so I am in a funky cycle right now but as soon as I get AF we are going to do a clomid/gonal f cycle starting the injectables the same day I start the clomid and we will see what happens
@rachlee2010 thanks for your feedback. I just wish I would produce more follicles on my good side, instead of my side with no tube. Is there ways to increase my follicles that I could do myself. I'm going to research that, at least that'll keep me occupied.
