@Hopeful_mom Wow, that's a lot of cycles! We are paying out of pocket for everything, so there's no way we will be able to do that many. I'm hoping the next cycle goes better and we have a couple of embryos to freeze. I don't think we'll be doing PGS on this cycle either, but I'll be asking the RE about it! Next appointment is on Tuesday.

Two good quality day three embryos frozen this morning!
Not sure if it’s just luck, the MDL protocol or switching back to IVF (instead of ICSI) but the embryologist said she hardly ever sees such a big improvement in embryo quality between rounds.
Now we have a week to talk together before the follow up with our RE to decide if we move to FET or if we maybe do another retrieval... 2 good and 3 poor quality embryos frozen on day 3 at the moment... I just don’t feel like that’s going to be enough... but then again we can’t keep doing retrieval’s forever...

@emmasemm- so happy to see this update!! I know I have already given my opinion, but see what your RE thinks about when to transfer. I also think it def makes a difference if you really want two kids potentially. Obviously we would all be blessed to have even one, but its not greedy to think about wanting two and planning your family. If you have the financial resources to continue, it should be your and DHs call.

@emmasemm woohoo!!! Great update!! It's such a tough decision! And we know what I rush I was in to get pregnant but with age being a factor I just went for the banking as u kno. I ended up doing an extra cycle because work was so stressful that I didn't want to transfer and felt like I could manage an ER but not an FET. So take that into account too. Is work extra crazy, can it be a calm time for u to do a transfer)?

@emmasemm I’m so happy to see your update! I have no advice on when to transfer (obviously ) but I hope your RE has some good information for you, and that your and DH come to the decision that’s right for you.

Thought it’s so weird a year on from starting our first IVF cycle to finally feel like we might have found the right recipe!!! And I never would have thought then I would get sooooo excited to have two day 3 embryos of good quality frozen!!!
DH and I have spent a few days talking everything through and I just emailed my RE with a (short for me) list of discussion topics for our appointment Monday. Number one being the possibility of doing two more cycles... ASAP. Whilst my body is “in the groove”. But also talking about timing of surgery etc after retrievals are finished (wondering if we can combine a Hysteroscopy/lap together with the last ER...). Also so I can start to research local providers for some parts of the FET protocol eg Intralipids - since it took me 3 months to find an OB capable to do the scans on short notice and to find a lab who could deliver same day blood results we decided getting ready early is no bad thing.
@hopefuljj@jamieh2000 would you be willing to private message me your exact FET protocols with medication names and dosages please, timing and frequency of the “extras” etc? This would be really helpful :-) I will have to first translate all drugs into the British equivalents and then into the German ones, but it will also help my lovely local pharmacist (who’s going to have another big task on his hands to source them again for us!).

@Imajin99 this wait is the WORST. I go today for my blood test because AF has not arrived yet....however I feel like it is coming and I had a BFN this morning so trying not to get my hopes up
@emmasemm- Happy to share whatever I can! I actually just got rid of all my old paperwork But for my FET, I didn't do a ton of special stuff really. I ended up on 3 types of estrogen (patches, pills and shots) because my lining wouldn't cooperate. To help my lining, I took extra vitamean E and L-arginine and drank some pomengranite juice. Not sure if any of that really helped to be hoenst. THe big unlock for me was the ERA, but that only works for day 5 transfers. This last time I did add in an antibiotic and a steroid (Medrol) for 4-5 days before transfer (once I started progesterone). My RE called this an "older school" addition, meaning the newer science didn't really say it helped, but agreed since I asked for it and it couldn't hurt. I did PIO and I have read that PIO had better success rates than suppositories. Even though I have slightly elevated Thyroid Antibodies, I don't technically have any auto-immune issues so I haven't been on anything special really. My RE puts all transfers on baby aspirin, but I did stop that once it was confirmed I had an SCH to help that clot up. Besides all that, I did couch rest for day of transfer and returned to my desk job the next day. I did no pineaple or any other thing like that I will let you know if I think of anything else!

What brand of PIO, dosage and frequency? Also was it in sesame oil or another type? Did you do BCP or Lupron before you started the estrogen?

Happy Friday! This morning I woke up to my period..... so the longshot of an IUI didn't work. I think its the first time that I haven't been upset or cried at its arrival, I guess I am becoming immune to it. Still waiting to hear from my patient coordinator to set up an appt with RE and get an appt at the other clinic for 2nd opinion. We are going to break until October anyhow. Next week I am off to New York and LA so I am excited to get away and have a nice break.
@imajin99 I am so sorry to hear that. I did not have success today either and this is the hardest I've taken it so far. First, the location I went to (the practice has 4) didn't communicate to the one I went to today that I even had an IUI so when I met with the doctor she was talking about my last cycle where I ovulated on day 4. They didn't even say anything positive about my period not starting and they just called to tell me I should get my period any day now I don't know how you all do it - this is so emotionally exhausting.

@emmasemm- I’ll try to answer as much as I can I was supposed to take Zithromax 1 time day for 5 days before transfer but I actually found it in my big med drawer recently so maybe I didn’t even take it?! Honestly not sure now. I did lurpron to suppress and I was on estrogen/progesterone pills from my last cancelled cycle, so kinda like BC. I stopped that and started to estrogen patches 8 days later and sometime in there I had a bleed for a few days, like a period. For patches, I just had the generic estradiol ones and the pills were generic estrogen pills- no brand name or anything. For the shot, it was IM delestrogen. Each RE seems to have their own preference in estrogens and it’s kinda just trial and error to see what works best for your lining. I have responded differently on the same meds to so it was frustrating. My PIO was sesame oil and also just a generic- no brand name or anything. Hope that helps! I would get a sample FET protocol from your RE so you can see what they propose and hopefully give your pharamcist some notice!

@purpleviolet9 I’m sorry lady. It is extremely emotionally exhausting. I am in awe of all of us to be honest considering what we have all been through. I’m sorry that communication was bad at the clinic and there was confusion, I find that the absolutely hardest to deal with. If I don’t feel like my doctor is 100% on top of it, it just feels devestating like we are just a number. It is the main reason I initially switched clinics before moving to IVF from IUI. Thinking of you and hoping you get a good plan you are comfortable with soon on how to proceed.

@imajin99 thanks! I think getting to ER the first time and seeing the quality of your eggs, fert rate, how the embryos grow is a big step. Don’t get hung up on how many eggs that time (says she about to go for round 7 - pot calling kettle here!!!). If you can afford a second or third round it gives you a fair chance. Consider looking for a “buy 2 get 1 free” program or something like that. The reason these programs work for clinics is most people give up after 1 or 2 rounds. So if you’ve got staying power it can really work out. Sorry your Hail Mary IUI didn’t work out though
@purpleviolet9 do make sure you’re happy with your RE before jumping to IVF as you depend on them more and more. Or be prepared to manage them super super closely. I send mine instructions every day hehehe. In the end I’m paying them, so they work for me. It’s a medical service business, emphasis on the service. I definitely don’t think I would have had the strength to keep going if I hadn’t found this community and seen what others had done in order to finally find success. My RE tells me the difference between most DOR patients who succeed and those who don’t is the ones who don’t stop but the ones who do just keep going.

AFM well we had our consult today and we are going for round 7 and 8! Currently WFAF so as long as she’s on time on Friday that will be my baseline. Since we didn’t Estrogen Prime this cycle then if baseline labs are too high we will skip and then prime after O for next one. I’m feeling very zen about it all. I think it’s mostly relief about not having to start prepping for transfer! Also our RE was so great in the call - he’d read my advance questions, listened to my input, explained himself clearly treating me like an educated adult. So not a bad start to Monday. He even said it’s not the worst thing if we skip a cycle so I don’t risk a retrieval on my birthday bless him.

@emmasemm I really like the practice and they came recommended so I am blaming it on my hormones for getting so upset the other day. I went today for CD3 and fingers crossed I should be able to start Clomid tomorrow and we will try for another IUI this cycle.
@hopefuljj You totally understand. I felt very much like a number. I understand I make it more difficult on them by bouncing around to different offices - but if you offer the option to go to different locations then is it too much to ask for everyone to have a copy of everything? Maybe I'm just sensitive lol.
@Imajin99 Most likely a few more cycles of IUI. My husband just found out his insurance covers IVF so we will probably try IUI until his next open enrollment rolls around (I have my own insurance)...I wish we had realized it sooner

Got my appointment at the other clinic for 2nd opinion but not until mid october. Will see what they say. We are paying out of pocket so its pretty tough financially @purpleviolet9 Wishing you luck on this next cycle of IUI! @JamieH2000 was wondering if you've ever had a laparoscopy? I just had a consult with Dr Braverman and he says all low amh women who are young have endometriosis. This threw me for a loop as i'm currently in the middle of preparing for my first FET. Wondering if that's something you or any of the other ladies here has heard of? @babyhopeful442- I actually did have a lap 2 years ago after our first two IUIs failed. They found stage two but it was pretty mild and not on my ovaries. None of my three REs thought that it would have had any impact on my fertility. After that, we moved on to ivf since we still didn’t know why we weren’t getting pregnant. My AMH was never super low tho- 1.5. One of my ovaries was mostly dead- either from injury (loss of blood flow) or I was born like that. In the end my main issue is probably my displaced window of implantation found by the ERA. Being receptive on day four after ovulation means I couldn’t get pregnant naturally.

@JamieH2000 gotcha. So after your initial lap, you never repeated it before transferring your embryos that you are now pregnant with. I'm just so surprised that he said ALL women who have low amh have endometriosis. I think i will follow through with my transfer and see what happens. if it fails, i'll see about getting a ERA and lap. Did the ERA hurt? did you also get a endometrial scratch?

@babyhopeful442- ya I don’t think a doctor should ever say ALL. I think low AMH can be caused by lots of things. When I was deciding about a lap I tried to research how much endo really effects implantation and there was no consensus I could find. Both my second RE and third RE don’t really ever recommend laps. I think you would have to have severe endo to really impact anything. The ERA was like a really sharp pinch/cramp for 5-10 second and then it was over. They had to do two biopsies the first time to get enough material and I had to have a second ERA to confirm my result so I went thru it three times and would do it again easily if needed. It also acts as scratch! So if you can transfer the month right after your ERA you are covered for that too!

@babyhopeful442 Braverman says that to everyone and he is wrong. I follow lots of ladies who have heard this from Braverman and after lap they have NOT all had Endo. Most RE’s do suspect that DOR when you are young is from Endo but that is different from the declarative statement he makes. @JamieH2000 went well:) Thanks for asking friend! one PGS normal hatching blast onboard. I’m calling it Volcano baby at the moment because the embryo picture the nurse handed me on my way out was deeply disturbing looking to me! Had 5 follicles that looked mature but only 2 contained mature eggs the others were empty. Nothing made it to day 5 IVF 3 - added in HGH - 4 mature follicles (had some empties again) 3 made it to day 5/6 for PGS (held for testing with next retrieval IVF 4 - Upped my dosage for the first time - Canceled 11 days into sims - looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty IVF 5 - Canceled - looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty IVF 6 - 3 mature, 2 fertalized 1 made it to day 5 and sent for PGS

@JamieH2000 beta is super early again. Sept 6th. But I’ll be at work that day so I’m thinking of resting maybe the night before? I don’t know. Or I’ll wait and let th call go to VM and check it when I get home. I keep thinking getting a BFP won’t mean anything because of last time, it’s all about the doubling but then I realized, I won’t even necessarily get a BFP! Two good quality day three embryos frozen this morning!
Not sure if it’s just luck, the MDL protocol or switching back to IVF (instead of ICSI) but the embryologist said she hardly ever sees such a big improvement in embryo quality between rounds.
Now we have a week to talk together before the follow up with our RE to decide if we move to FET or if we maybe do another retrieval... 2 good and 3 poor quality embryos frozen on day 3 at the moment... I just don’t feel like that’s going to be enough... but then again we can’t keep doing retrieval’s forever...

IVF 2 - stimmed for 19 days. insanity. Had 5 follicles that looked mature but only 2 contained mature eggs the others were empty. Nothing made it to day 5
IVF 3 - added in HGH - 4 mature follicles (had some empties again) 3 made it to day 5/6 for PGS (held for testing with next retrieval
IVF 4 - Upped my dosage for the first time - Canceled 11 days into sims - looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty
IVF 5 - Canceled - looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty

Thanks everyone! Thought it’s so weird a year on from starting our first IVF cycle to finally feel like we might have found the right recipe!!! And I never would have thought then I would get sooooo excited to have two day 3 embryos of good quality frozen!!!
DH and I have spent a few days talking everything through and I just emailed my RE with a (short for me) list of discussion topics for our appointment Monday. Number one being the possibility of doing two more cycles... ASAP. Whilst my body is “in the groove”. But also talking about timing of surgery etc after retrievals are finished (wondering if we can combine a Hysteroscopy/lap together with the last ER...).
Also so I can start to research local providers for some parts of the FET protocol eg Intralipids - since it took me 3 months to find an OB capable to do the scans on short notice and to find a lab who could deliver same day blood results we decided getting ready early is no bad thing.
@hopefuljj @jamieh2000 would you be willing to private message me your exact FET protocols with medication names and dosages please, timing and frequency of the “extras” etc? This would be really helpful :-)
I will have to first translate all drugs into the British equivalents and then into the German ones, but it will also help my lovely local pharmacist (who’s going to have another big task on his hands to source them again for us!).
Hope everyone else is having a good week. I’m totally enjoying a week with no medication and no doctors appointments. We realized this is the first week since end of January that neither of us had any appointments.

@emmasemm Yah for finding the right combination! I wish you the best in the next two cycles. I think I am going to move away from doing a fresh transfer and maybe do a few cycles (once they figure out which works for me) and bank the embies. We are paying oop so not sure how many cycles we will do.

Happy Friday! This morning I woke up to my period..... so the longshot of an IUI didn't work. I think its the first time that I haven't been upset or cried at its arrival, I guess I am becoming immune to it. Still waiting to hear from my patient coordinator to set up an appt with RE and get an appt at the other clinic for 2nd opinion. We are going to break until October anyhow. Next week I am off to New York and LA so I am excited to get away and have a nice break.

or anything. For the shot, it was IM delestrogen. Each RE seems to have their own preference in estrogens and it’s kinda just trial and error to see what works best for your lining. I have responded differently on the same meds to so it was frustrating. My PIO was sesame oil and also just a generic- no brand name or anything. Hope that helps! I would get a sample FET protocol from your RE so you can see what they propose and hopefully give your pharamcist some notice!

@purpleviolet9 I’m sorry lady. It is extremely emotionally exhausting. I am in awe of all of us to be honest considering what we have all been through. I’m sorry that communication was bad at the clinic and there was confusion, I find that the absolutely hardest to deal with. If I don’t feel like my doctor is 100% on top of it, it just feels devestating like we are just a number. It is the main reason I initially switched clinics before moving to IVF from IUI. Thinking of you and hoping you get a good plan you are comfortable with soon on how to proceed.

@purpleviolet9 do make sure you’re happy with your RE before jumping to IVF as you depend on them more and more. Or be prepared to manage them super super closely. I send mine instructions every day hehehe. In the end I’m paying them, so they work for me. It’s a medical service business, emphasis on the service.
I definitely don’t think I would have had the strength to keep going if I hadn’t found this community and seen what others had done in order to finally find success. My RE tells me the difference between most DOR patients who succeed and those who don’t is the ones who don’t stop but the ones who do just keep going.
@jamieh2000 I had to laugh at “big med drawer” - mine is now an entire cupboard...
And thanks for the extra details. Between you and @hopefuljj that really helped with my “if we transfer what do you suggest” discussion today.

AFM well we had our consult today and we are going for round 7 and 8!
Currently WFAF so as long as she’s on time on Friday that will be my baseline. Since we didn’t Estrogen Prime this cycle then if baseline labs are too high we will skip and then prime after O for next one. I’m feeling very zen about it all. I think it’s mostly relief about not having to start prepping for transfer!
Also our RE was so great in the call - he’d read my advance questions, listened to my input, explained himself clearly treating me like an educated adult. So not a bad start to Monday.
He even said it’s not the worst thing if we skip a cycle so I don’t risk a retrieval on my birthday bless him.

IVF 1 -3 made it do day 5! 2 5AA 1 6BB PGS results = all abnormal
IVF 2 - stimmed for 19 days. insanity. Had 5 follicles that looked mature but only 2 contained mature eggs the others were empty. Nothing made it to day 5
IVF 3 - added in HGH - 4 mature follicles (had some empties again) 3 made it to day 5/6 for PGS (held for testing with next retrieval
IVF 4 - Upped my dosage for the first time - Canceled 11 days into sims - looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty
IVF 5 - Canceled - looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty
IVF 6 - 3 mature, 2 fertalized 1 made it to day 5 and sent for PGS
Sent in IVF round 3 and 6 (4 embryos) for PGS testing and got 2 normal embryos!!! 1Boy and 1Girl. Took a little over a year to get those two embryos so demanded all sorts of test prior to attempting transfer. Did EFT, ERA and NK Cells testing.

@hopefuljj You totally understand. I felt very much like a number. I understand I make it more difficult on them by bouncing around to different offices - but if you offer the option to go to different locations then is it too much to ask for everyone to have a copy of everything? Maybe I'm just sensitive lol.
@Imajin99 Most likely a few more cycles of IUI. My husband just found out his insurance covers IVF so we will probably try IUI until his next open enrollment rolls around (I have my own insurance)...I wish we had realized it sooner

I’m calling it Volcano baby at the moment because the embryo picture the nurse handed me on my way out was deeply disturbing looking to me! I guess the other one was not hatching to such an extreme so I thought this one was like in really bad shape but I emailed my doctor and she said it’s “gorgeous” and explained how hatching blasts can be at all stages, blah blah, so I’m going with it must be fine!
