Dumb question: rotisserie chicken, your thoughts? I know it's fine if I heat it up but I just bought one and the lady said it was right out of the oven but I want to let it cool to make chicken salad. Have a wicked bad craving for that today! I'm probably being over cautious but would you eat it? Thanksssss
Eat it up!! I made chicken noodle soup out of one for DH when he had a cold. We dug into it a little bit before I made the soup.

My OB told me that the reason some meats (like deli meat) are a no-no during pregnancy is not because of the actual meat, but because of the machines/tools used to cut the meat. The knives and blades aren't always cleaned correctly, so the bacteria can grow on the blades and then transfer to the food.
Ok, here's my dumb question. I've been trying to figure this out on my own, but I can't for the life of me get it . . .
What is LFAF here on the bump? I see a lot of bumpies with "badges" in their siggies that say "LFAF award for biggest AW" or "LFAF for wittiest user." I looked through all the boards to see if it was the name of one (like TTGP is Trying to Get Pregnant), but none of them made sense with that acronym. Help me!
Married 7.29.05 :: DD1 5.11.10 :: DD2 1.23.13 :: Baby Boy due 3.13.16!
now that you mention it, my eyes were itchy yesterday but I figured I had some grit or something trapped in there. I didn't know it was a symptom! Can you use eye drops?
I had no idea it was a thing until I looked it up after days of itchy red eyes. That being said, it seems like ANYTHING can be attributed to pregnancy. (Ugh.) I know a lot of OTC eye drops are ok...the natural tears kind without a bunch of chemicals obviously would be best!
@mrspepper05 I've been wondering too! I can't even come up with a half way plausible suggestion.... Loser Finds A Friend Laughs For All Females Let's Feed A Fish Lemons Feel Always Firm Let's Forget Aunt Flo I give up! I also don't know AE - I know it is something to do with an alternative username/account but not positive what it means exactly. :-? :-/
This stupid app keeps crashing and I'm no where near caught up on anything!! I'm going to sit here and pout! And maybe go check if all my Lemons Feel Always Firm!! :P
Seriously, can we start our own updated list of acronyms because the ones listed by admins are missing a lot.
Forgot my question, does anyone have or know any weird superstitions about eclipses? I ask because my mom drove me nuts last night. She literally chased me with a safety pin and said I needed to wear it. I of course thought she was crazy and refused. The oddest thing is I asked her why I needed to wear it and she said she didn't know why, you're just supposed to when your pregnant.

If you are Latina like I am my mom called and said the same to me it's because it leaves your baby open to possession. I laughed I'm not religious and definitely not superstitious. My mom has all these weird superstitions.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who can't figure out LFAF. I thought for sure it'd be something really obvious. Loving your suggestions, though, @ecwk.
@acleanlife24, I'm pretty sure you have some of those LFAF badges in your siggy. Care to enlighten us?

@mrspepper05 it stands for Lisa Frank and Friends and is a private group by invite only, from what I understand.

Anyone else's eyes suuuuuper itchy?! I know it's one of those lovely hormonal symptoms, but it's driving me crazy!
(Insert crazy-eyed gif here)
My eyes get sensitive in pregnancy. I have since had Lasik but before then when I was pregnant with DD, I couldn't even wear contacts. I don't mean they were uncomfortable (although they were) but I literally couldn't wear them, they would pop out as soon as I put them in. It was so frustrating! Your eyes can definitely change and change shape, that is why a lot of ladies have worse vision in pregnancy or dry eyes. Just another little annoyance of the miracle that is pregnancy!
I'm going to ask this every freakin' day of this pregnancy. Why only 1-2 cups of coffee? That is cruel and unusual punishment with two crazy boys already.

My OB basically said 1-2 cups is the recommended dose but if there are days you go over, don't sweat it. I go to a practice that is fairly diverse and she said there are some women she sees that normally drink SEVERAL POTS of coffee a day because it is common in their culture. So for them, she tries to get them to cut back to only one pot of coffee per day! So I didn't always stick to 1-2 cups with DD and this time I'm doing worse and I'm finding myself having more like 3 cups a day. Pregnancy is a heck of a lot more tiring when you already have kids to take care of!
I love how all the Lisa Frank stuff was kind of crap but we all loved it so much. I remember the pencils somehow not even really writing on the paper and the erasers just smudged the shit out of everything, LOL. But it was sooooooooo coooooooool and I neeeeeeeeeeded them!!! Big eyed neon colored cutesy animals 4LYFE! And hearts errrrrywhere!
Does anyone have their cervix monitored regularly? What do they do? Ultrasounds? Just curious- starting next appointment I need to have mine regularly monitored until 24 weeks.

How far along are you? Is there a reason they want to do cervical checks? I was okay with my OB doing it with my last but it was much closer to the end when it started. It is a "manual" check, meaning they use their hand, and a lot of women decline it. But if they are doing it now until 24 weeks it sounds like they have a specific reason?

Yes i had my DD premature at 32 weeks. If my cervix gets too short they will want to stitch it closed. The doctor today said after 24 weeks the cervix changes more and with it being a muscle to begin with they don't want to irritate it if at all necessary.

Oh, okay. My SIL had a LEEP procedure done before getting pregnant this time (this is her 3rd) and she had to go in for a cervical check because her OB was concerned that they would have to do a stitch for her too. I know for sure she had an ultrasound but I'm not sure if they checked manually or not? Them checking by hand is no big deal if you have to do that, it's a bit uncomfortable but nothing to bad. They basically just feel to get a length so it's not a whole lot different than other vaginal exams.
I have a few questions about breast pumps. I bought the Hygeia Enjoye with DD who was born Feb 2014, so it's not that old. Unless I'm mistaken, Hygeia pumps last a long time and should still be good to use, right? Also, since insurance covers pumps now (I have United Healthcare), does anyone know if they cover getting new accessories like shields, tubing, etc? I'm so bummed that I can get a breast pump for free now when I couldn't just over a year ago
I also have United Healthcare, I looked up their policy on breast pumps a few weeks ago. I'm not sure about their coverage on spare parts, but to get a pump you have to order through an in network pump supplier. You can get a list of suppliers by calling them and find all the info for their policy here.

Any of the ladies that have dealt/are dealing with high blood pressure- mine was pretty constantly in the 130-140/80-90 range until a few days ago. Now it's staying in the 90-100/70-80 range and I'm constantly short of breath and dizzy (when it's high and low). I'll be asking my dr but I was just curious if any of y'all had a huge flop like that?
