My mom told me the other day that I should keep a close eye on the baby when we go out in public because a baby like her would go for a lot on the black market. And she was serious! Wtf, mom. Seriously?
@BiggerInRealLife, good luck on your new college adventure. You'll do great and soon it will become your new normal.
@Poppyseedwindsor Big hugs to you. Glad you got your cry and decompression time. Whenever I have to walk away and let Carlene cry I just keep in mind that if she is crying she is breathing and will be fine until I regroup.
I think a cookbook is a great idea and I might even contribute.
I want to eat at all the food trucks, even the imaginary ones.
At one point this morning, I was dressing Carlene and DH was dressing Chase. Both kids were in full meltdown mode because we woke them up. DH pops his head out of Chase's room and says "wanna trade?" Nope.

Had a snooze and woke up to my dog passed out, and one of the cats had worked her way under the sheets with me. Ha!
@dani+california I woke up the other morning to our dog freaking out because he had somehow worked his eye INSIDE our duvet cover and couldn't get out.
@poru we have had the generous "wanna trade" as well. It is far more common. This morning was more of a "Which grumpy, pissed off kid, do you want to deal with?"
Luckily, they were both fine as soon as they were dressed and the rest of our morning was smooth.

Sigh... The last time I visited family my daily supply dropped by like 10 ounces. I can almost guarantee my supply took another hit this time and it's pissing me off. I still hadn't recouped from last time. I can't wait to get back home and live on my own terms again. This sucks.
ETA: It's because on a normal day at home I may spend as much as six hours pumping. I try to make up for the loss by nursing more while I'm with family, but nursing does not manage my supply as well as pumping does.

DS is 30 minutes into his afternoon nap (his longer nap) and I've already had to put his pacifier back in his mouth 3 times. Since it is nap time, I have more flexibility and patience to let him fuss and see if he'll fall back asleep. Nope. Not happening. This habit of his is starting to drive me crazy.

My SIL just told me that DD has been belly laughing all day. I haven't heard it yet and I fully believe in the "milestone's don't count unless mom and dad see them" but I can't help but be really sad right now I'm hoping we can get her to do it later.
@Bluebird2318. I don't know if I would still be providing BM for my baby if I had to spend that much time hooked up to a pump. You are amazing!
@Twirple Thanks! I don't necessarily spend that much time every single day though. Some days it's only half that much. Pumping time is my Bump/Netflix time though so it's not as bad as it sounds!

@poru & dani - I don 't think it should increase supply so much as improve letdown -> empty out better -> potentially signal higher demand to your body -> *possibly* produce accordingly.
However this is conjecture, I just think it accounts for why one might pump more immediately after excersize or booze.
Aww thanks Dani! I miss you guys as well! I promise I'll try not to stay away so long. Sorry I kinda hijacked your other thread...
@allyandmike24 we dont get tornados - and I am very grateful! So glad you are ok!
We recently had a horrible storm that knocked out our power for 25hrs and completely cut us off from the rest of the country - both of the roads out had slips and stuff that meant that no one could get in and out. It was a nightmare!

Moms who use disposable diapers, can you help me with a problem I'm having?
Every time A poops more than just a little shart, it blows out of her diaper. Up the back, through the legs. Every time.
She's in size 3 diapers, which say they're good to 28 pounds and I KNOW she's not that big already. I'm putting them on securely, with the leg gussets nice and tight and the back as high as I can (it hasn't gone up the front yet). It tends to happen mainly when I'm nursing her - everything's calm, then suddenly a massive shart and I'm covered in shit. So tired of being crapped on! I asked DH if he thought we should move up to size 4s and he thought I was nuts. I have no idea what else to do, aside from buy a lot more towels and lay her in them on me while she's nursing, which she doesn't like. 8-}

Well, the pretzel dogs were so good I am currently mixing up another batch of pretzel dough while DH watches M. DH begged me for more, and since he's leaving town tomorrow for a week, I figure why not!
@SoulTermination It wouldn't hurt to try size 4. I haven't had this problem (yet) but I would probably experiment with different diaper brand and/ or size if I was being pooped on.
Hi @avidkeo. I pump 3 times a day at work. My usual schedule is 9:00, 12:00 and 3:00.
@SoulTermination, I don't really have a suggestion for keeping your disposables from blowing out, but if all else fails, you could try getting a few cloth diaper covers to use over the disposables. The elastic on them is better than elastic on disposables, so even if something escapes the disposable diaper, it won't end up on you.

Ah thanks, I was going to try for 4 times a day (every 2 hrs) but it just never happens, I get too busy. I end up with 930, 12 then 3ish. Still thats enough to keep up.

Every 4 hours wouldn't work for me either. I used to hate pumping at work too. This time I got a new pump and I now actually look forward to pumping as a break in my day.

I would try another brand. I wonder if they are too big...? We just finished size 1's and started 2's. The 2's go up to 18lbs...
@SoulTermination My SIL was having that same problem with her daughters and she ended up switching to the Target brand diapers. After that they almost never had a blow out. I've heard a lot of people say really good things about them, so maybe try those?
@SoulTermination are they really tight! I've learned to keep my boys' diapers a little pulled down and loose in the crotch region, that way poo will pool there... I'll take a pic if I didn't explain that right.
Oh hey guys. Just you know, recovering from the fact that a tornado occurred 1/2 mile from my house today.
crazy!!! that would freak me right the heck out. the storm we just had was REALLY intense. lightning was so thick and zappy, thunder shook the entire house. i'm amazed T stayed asleep.
can someone link me or explain to me how to change your username? i'm going to resurrect my old one from my wedding planning days as a backup (in case i... uh... get banned? i don't know. just as backup for no good reason.)
On the subject of @mamrotu73 's bedtime routine, what do you guys do for a routine? I'd really like to start one soon because nights are hated by S. I'm thinking a routine might help make them more pleasant.
A warm cloth wipe down is magic for us. He gets that, then nighttime diaper and pjs, daddy reads a story, he gets swaddled and I sing a song while he goes to sleep.

I'm not sure how much she weighs right now (4 month visit in a week or so), but she hit 16 pounds in the hospital last month despite being sick so she's probably at least 18 by now. We went up to size 3 because we had a hard time getting size 2 to get on and stay on. =/

@SoulTermination I was having the same problem and was so tired of soaking poopy clothing. DS is about 14 lbs. and is in size 2 diapers. I was using Target brand and Pampers and neither contained the poop efficiently. I ended up trying Huggies Little Snugglers and they have been working well. There was only 1 poop blowout in the past 10 days as opposed to 2x/day with the other diapers.
@gummybearstwo Can you post of pic of how you put on your boys' diapers? A visual would be helpful!
