@Knottie1432834683 so happy to hear you passed the test! Thank you for the good vibes! I'm waiting for results of my 3 hour one...so anxious and nervous!

I really can't believe I'll be in 3rd trimester as of Sunday. It felt like the 1st trimester went by super slowly and the 2nd one just flew by. I imagine the day of the delivery constantly, wondering what it'll be like, who the little guy is going to look like, etc...and I get so emotional. It's still so surreal to me.

@Tulips29 I'm so excited for you! I'll be right behind you in the 3rd trimester group. I agree that 2nd Trimester seemed to speed by. All the sudden I'm like "ACK! The nursery isn't done! Hurry hurry hurry!" even though I know we have lots of time. :) How are you feeling?

@dragonfaerie yay, I'm excited for all of us and looking forward to you joining soon too! I'm feeling good, thanks for asking! Overall, I can't complain. But it's become hard to get a good night sleep. I now sleep in a semi-sitting slouched position with pillows behind/around me. It works a lot better than any other sleeping position, but I still wake up tired. Otherwise, I'm loving feeling the little guy move around so much. I could sit with my hands on my belly all day long lol. I am so fascinated seeing the belly move and try to capture videos too, but he's a stubborn one already and doesn't cooperate much for the camera. We started setting up the nursery too so I can't wait to finish it. It's all so exciting!
How are you feeling these days?

Just got back from docs. Totally broke down during my appt because I've never weighed so much. But apparently I only gained one lb since the last appt and my stomach is measuring right on track so I'm feeling a little better. I know I'm pregnant and all but I've always had body image issues so just having a tough time. I don't mean to sound so vain. Got a doc note to fly in a few weeks for work/babymoon too. Heartbeat and everything else is good too. And nursery? Omg. Still not even started. And so much work to do there: new floors, ceiling walls and closet if I haven't mentioned that already. Lol. Ridiculous. Getting a bit stressed.
  • Options
@Drove2u I hear you on the body image issues. I'm in the same boat. I lost 45 lbs before starting fertility treatments and then slowly gained most of it back. I've never weighed as much as I do now, and I'm always thinking of how hard it'll be to get back to a normal weight once the baby comes. I would say just focus on the positives, your baby is measuring on track and everything is going well. I hope the nursery work picks up for you so you can feel less stressed about it being finished on time.

@Tulips29 I hear you on the rough sleeping. My hips and legs have started to ache almost every night, so sleeping well is really getting difficult. Wee Boy hides from my sister every time she tries to feel him, I'm almost wondering if her hands are too cold. Lol. I'm glad you are getting the nursery going!
I'm feeling pretty good, I feel tired a lot, but also full of that nesting energy, so my house is staying a lot cleaner.
@Drove2u I'm sorry that you are struggling with how you feel about your body. I imagine most women struggle a bit with the weight gain, no matter how they started. But just remember that you are beautiful, and you can and will lose the weight after as long as you keep that mindset. And how exciting about your babymoon! You will have such a good time and come back refreshed and ready to tackle anything!

@Drove2u - I definitely feel you on the body issues. I think we are too hard on ourselves sometimes. As long as you know you are taking care of your body and you feel good and everything is tracking where it should, try to give yourself a break  Obviously that's easier said than done. Every time I put on half a pound I freak out about what my OB is going to say. Hope you and DH have a great time on your trip!
@Tulips29 - my whole body is sore sometimes when I wake up b/c I haven't had a decent nights sleep in months. I've gotten to the point where I want to punch people who tell me that it's just preparing me for sleepless nights with an infant.

@Griffin5413 hahaha! Oh I love when people tell me that, to just prepare not to sleep at all. I dream of taking naps on the weekends, but then it never works out. I'm currently sitting at work like a zombie, just staring into my computer, all thanks to lack of sleep. Not sure how I'd take care of an infant in such a state :scream:

It's good to know that I'm not the only one who thinks about these things. I've gained more weight than I would like but the doc says I'm doing ok. I feel like a weeble wobble.
  • Options
Ugh. My message got cut off. I am trying to stay positive and think about what's growing inside me... I completely understand where you are coming from. From the sleep issues to the sausage feet I think I'm done, lol. 10 weeks to go. Where has the time gone? As for the nursery... we've painted and bought the crib and changing table but because of the remodel we are sleeping on a mattress on the floor in the baby's room. What were we thinking?

Thanks everyone for the support on the glucose test.  Agree with everyone on the weight gain - - it will all be ok in the end -although easier said than done.  I'm also trying not to have a meltdown about the nursery (DH hasn't started yet but had a deadline of Dec. 1).  I guess if the nursery is not finished its fine too-- the baby will still have a home, loving parents and some basics.  It will all work out.

@Tulips29  Yay!  So excited for you.  What a relief.

@Drove2u - so cute.  LOVE the pics.  So sweet.

@dragonfaerie - for our classes we did a 8 hour labor & delivery class and hospital tour.  Then a 4 hour baby care basics.  I kept reminding myself that a lot of people don't take classes and take care of a baby just fine, so don't worry about trying to do everything or remembering everything.  It's really about building your confidence and sort of knowing what to expect --but its ok if you don't take them all (or at all).  I'm sure there are many things we will encounter that were are not covered in the classes.  Good luck! :-)

Question for you all - did you see the new AAP guidelines that came out last week recommending babies now stay in the same room with parents for a least one year? What do you think of it?  I'm on the fence now about buying a crib or maybe putting the crib in our room and trying to decide how to handle....

For now I'm planning to have the baby sleep in the bassinet next to me at night and in his crib during daytime naps. I've asked a few friends about this and everyone has different opinions. Some say get the baby used to sleeping in their own bed/room right away and some have babies next to them for the first few months. So far all the kids I know have turned out fine. For me personally, I feel like it'll give me peace of mind having him next to me at night at least.

@Knottie1432834683- I'm on the fence about how long we plan on keeping him in the room with us. I'm leaning more towards buying an owlett that helps detect when they aren't getting enough oxygen. It would send an alert to my phone immediately. My SIL has one for her little girl who was a premie and she loves it. Then we will only keep him in the room for a few months in a bassinet. I don't think we will do an entire year in our room though.
    Me: 33 (no known issues)

    IVF round 2: FET : Oct 4 - 1st Beta 188!

My mom kept us in the room with her for 3-4 months, and then moved us on to the nursery, and that's probably what we'll do. The nursery is right next door to us, so we'll hear him if he fusses (plus we have a monitor.)
@Griffin5413 I read an article written by a pediatrician that monitors like the Owlet may cause undue stress on parents, as kiddos oxygen goes up and down naturally, and they may even stop breathing for a moment before resuming on their own, but the alarm would go off a lot. For those that have breathing problems (like a premie) it can be useful though. I know you will do what's best for your family, and there's certainly no risk to having it. :)

@Griffin5413 Certainly! I was looking into getting one too, but after reading that article, it seems like it would make an already-worried new parent even more paranoid. Same thing with video baby monitors. I won't do one after hearing about people who just end up staring at their phones all the time, trying to see if baby is breathing. Plus, I read an awful story about someone's high-tech monitor getting hacked and scaring the poor baby. :(

@Knottie1432834683 before the recommendations came out we were planning on keeping the twins in the room with us for a few months. I think now we'll keep them there at least for 7 months. We plan on putting some of the nursery furniture in our room.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.  We were initially thinking we would keep baby with us in the room/bassinet for first 3-4 months and then transition to crib after that but now since they are recommending the baby room in for a full year we might just put the crib in the room.  Most likely though, we will just see how it all goes and make a decision once we know the baby!  Either way, we decided to proceed with the nursery so as to have a place to put all the baby's stuff and also just another room to go with the baby in case he's fussy in our room and let one of the parents sleep!

I was all for the owlet (or snooza) and was just about to buy when when my best friend (who is a pediatrician) talked me off of it. She mentioned all the reasons above -- I don't know - - on the one hand I think it would give me peace of mind even if we have false alarms so I can't say I've 100% made up my mind despite my BFF's recommendation against.

Of the people who I know that he the Owlet most have returned or do not use them as they were just making the too paranoid! We were thinking about it until I started asking around, instead we registered for a breathable mattress, which my sister got for us! It's called the Newton mattress. There is also one other one that has good reviews, but seems more complicated.

we start our baby classes on the 10th, I'm super excited!! Esp after reading about everyone else going!

Ive been reading the recent rec's about keeping the babies in our rooms for so long, but H works super long hrs so I don't want him to not get sleep. The nursery is right next to our room, his crib will be no less than ten big steps from my spot in bed. We are goong to try to start crib sleeping right away and perhaps put a bed in the nursery for me for a little while. We will see...

I definetly don't want the baby in our room for a year. I would like to be able to have sex without the baby in there. Hahaha I'm thinking like 3-4 months max. I also heard it's more difficult to transition them to their own room the older they are.

@drove2u honestly, that transition really does concern me. Of all the people I know, the ones who have had the hardest time getting their kids on good sleep schedules are those who kept them in their rooms for an extended period of time.

Hi guys! I didn't see those guidelines. A year seems like a lot. So, I'm currently in the hospital for preeclampsia. They are monitoring my blood pressure and my headache and vision changes. We were worried that I might have baby this week!!!!! It looks like I'm ok for now and will be monitored and possibly let go over the weekend on strict bedrest. Talk about stressful. So, this obviously wasn't anticipated but we are hanging in there. It's getting quite boring only being able to lay in bed. I hope you guys are doing well.
