Re: April/May IF success group

  • Man, I feel like I got the short end of the stick. My OB didn't give me the drink in advance so I'll just be stuck waiting around for an hour. Poo...

@dragonfaerie you're not alone. I have to go to a lab to do mine, so I went on Friday to ask if I can have the drink in advance and just show up there once I drink it. They said no. Now I have to wake up at the crack of dawn, travel there to just sit and wait. I guess they don't trust people coming in on time since the test has to be done exactly an hour after we drink that stuff.

  • @Tulips29 That makes sense. If it is extremely time sensitive then our OBs probably don't want to risk having to start over.

  • Hi ladies! I failed the preliminary glucose test. It's supposed to be 140 and I was 158. So, I have to do the 3 hour test. No more pumpkin spiced lattes for me.
  • Oh no @joyzie77 so sorry. I'm so scared of failing. Doing it on Friday.
  • @Drove2u  @Knottie1432834683 Good luck with your test! I am really nervous about mine for some reason

@Joyzie77 I'm sorry...that stinks  :s  a lot of people fail the 1st one and then pass but it sucks to have to do the 3 hour one... When will you do it?

@dragonfaerie I have suffered from tendonitis and it's not fun, I didn't know it could also flare up because of pregnancy...yikes!

  • @LynnNJ I would say that sort of happens to me too -- DH has felt the baby move a couple of times, but every time I call him over because the baby is being super active (and I can feel him on the outside) DH puts his hand on me and then he stops kicking.  Its like he only kicks for mom!  I'm sure soon enough he will feel him soon enough.

@Joyzie77 sorry to hear about your glucose test.  Hopefully the 3 hours one will come back normal.  I guess if it doesn't and you need to take shots, we are all old pros at that now :-)  Thinking of you!

I'm nervous about my glucose test too.  Maybe I should lay off the Pumpkin Spice Lattes until the test over LOL. Oh and good news ladies -- DH and I did the deed last night!  He suggested it :-)  I was a little freaked out after but didn't say a peep to him for fear of freaking him out.  But today everything this is normal and I did not have preterm labor. LOL

  • All this talk of carpal tunnel and tendinitis...I hope you guys find some relief from all the aches and pains soon! But there's also such a thing as pregnancy gingivitis. I started getting pain in one of my wisdom teeth that I never pulled out when I was younger as it hasn't really bothered me. Well apparently, pregnancy can spark the pain in there and it started bugging me out of nowhere. I went to my dentist who did a really thorough cleaning, but said pregnancy gingivitis is a thing. Luckily she gave me a rinse that eased the pain for now so I didn't have to get the tooth pulled just yet. I'm hoping it stays that way for the next 3 months!

@tulips29 - my last teeth cleaning was just a month or so ago and it was awful! I usually don't mind the dentist and it was the most painful I've ever had. Same thing with my gums being more sensitive.

I'm going to whine Bc I'm hormonal, exhausted from being overly busy with house reno stuff this week and I'm cranky: My family is all leaving for Up North for our yearly family vacation. By family, I mean about 40 of us all go up there and rent cabins and hang out. We've been going for about 40 years (since before I was born) and look forward to it all year long. I don't get to go this year Bc my DH does not want to be that far from the hospital. I'm super sad and the hormones are not helping. So now we are stuck home watching everyone's dogs. Which is always fun, but not the same thing.

  • @tulips29 I had orange. It really just tastes like a more sugary Gatorade. So today they tested for diabetes, blood count and HIV. Did you know we get tested for HIV three times during a pregnancy? They said HIV could remain dormant for 10 years but pregnancy will "awaken" it if you have it. Scary. I just never thought about it. First test came out negative. This will be the second one. Anyway I'm not too worried about it. Heartbeat on the baby is good but my weight is getting out of control. I exercise five days a week and do Zumba barre and yoga. I do also eat cookies and cake but come on. A girls gotta live. I feel good too so to me that's all that matters. Waiting on my sugar test results now.
  • @vssbrm im sorry you don't get to go with your family this year. I'd be bummed also but I do agree with @Griffin5413. Next year you can go with your baby and enjoy all the festivities. I hope you make the best of your time at home with the pups.

@Drove2u My doctor actually told me not to limit myself and just eat normally before the test, just not to go crazy on the sugary stuff. I think you'll be fine. Sounds lIke you're taking care of yourself and indulging once in a while is totally ok. FX for good results for you! When do they tell you how you did?

  • Thanks @vssbrm I love this hospital. You can get your haircut, manicure, pedicure in your room. Then there are jacuzzi tubs that you can sit in while in labor. You can be with your baby the whole time too. They have a nursery but they recommend for the baby to stay with the mom the entire time. Not sure if each hospital does this but I found two things interesting:
    1. They don't bathe the baby for 8-10 hours after birth
    2. They put a security lowjack type thing on the baby so they are not abducted.
  • @Drove2u that's amazing. My hospital does the same regarding no bathing and putting a tracker on them for security purposes. But they definitely don't do manicures/pedicures or haircuts. And there are no birthing jacuzzis. What the heck! lol I want those services too!

  • @Drove2u that hospital sounds great! I didn't know about the tracker on the baby. That's a nice security measure. I need to call the hospital for a tour.
  • @Drove2u my hospital does the same thing! I even went in a few weeks ago for a prenatal massage there. They have a whole spa right in the hospital. I figured the best place to get a prenatal would be at a hospital for sure.

  • Hi Everyone,

Hope all is well. These Hospital Spas sounds awesome!  I definitely need that.

So I failed my 1 hour glucose test with 159.  I wasn't that surprised though because pregnancy has made me only really like sweet foods -- so I've been eating sweet things all the time (and wasn't really worried about it because I'm not overweight and have only gained 10lbs so far).  And the baby has been measuring so far ahead (97% last ultra sound).

So now I have to go do the 3 hour test on Friday.
@Joyzie77 - you are my inspiration! I hope that I pass the 3 hour test too.

Had a mini baby shower this weekend at home in Minnesota -- it was sort of last minute because of cervical issues (which are now resolved!) I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to travel. It was fun and got some cute things for the baby (and diapers!).

Hope everyone's glucose tests go ok this week!
