  • Hi everyone!  So fun to see the updates.

@dragonfaerie - glad the trip went well and you also kept the MIL in line!

@vssbrm totally understand on being anxious with that kitchen!  It will all come together though, and even if it doesn't you'll still be fine.  We have been looking at houses and that alone stresses me out!

AFM - had my weekly cervical checkup - nothing too much has changed -- they are seeing some things that are concerning (funneling) but the length is holding up.   So basically I'm still on modified bed rest and go back in a week again for another check.  The good news? Baby boy is measuring ahead a full 9 days so its good he's big  :-)

Still haven't decided on the coed versus single baby shower.  Need to decide that this week!

  • I'm seriously obsessed with my registry and then meanwhile things are being shipped to my house and I just get so excited about it. Shower is in like three weeks and I'm already pretty much set to go with all the major important baby stuff. Still planning out the shower and just decided on our cupcakes. They're going to be like this but purple pink and white.
  • Hi everyone! Exciting to see all the shower posts. My friend is throwing me a small shower here in November. @Drove2u I'm registered but haven't stalked the registry yet.
  • My message got cut off! Grr. @vssbrm I understand your anxiety. We are remodeling the kitchen, expanding the laundry room and renovating the master bath. We are living upstairs with our mattress on the baby's room floor.
  • @Joyzie77 so exciting, you guys are doing a lot!!

I was not able to get into our house yesterday - the contractor had removed all the sub floor and was setting a new post and beam and floor joists, so our kitchen was just a big hole into the basement!! When my husband stopped in on his way home last night they were working on the subfloor. I'm excited to see what it looks like today, hopefully level and ready for elec and mech to come in for their parts. I'm really hoping the contractors can be out of the house by first week of November.

  • @Drove2u - that is such a cute cupcake idea!

@vssbrm & @Joyzie77 - so fun to see/hear about the progress on your houses! We are in the process of our house being built and it was supposed to be done by the end of Oct and now we aren't sure we are even going to be in before Thanksgiving which is giving me all kinds of anxiety. By Thanksgiving I will be 36 weeks so I am terrified I'm going to go into labor from all of the stress.... plus we can't even really plan the nursery until we get in there b/c we don't have anywhere to keep furniture etc while we wait.

  • vssbrm - we are realizing how crazy that idea was right about now as well. We figured we would have plenty of time since the house was supposed to be done by the end of Oct but now with the delays and the holidays and the baby coming, we are definitely feeling the stress! lol... We are in Phoenix so it's more of a Spanish style on the outside. I'll definitely post pics when we get further along :

  • ladies.... dropping in again - this time to ask you about your betas. I got a BFP after my 2nd FET! Have had 2 betas so far and a few comments about how high they are. I really didn't think anything about it but curious where you all started off or if these seem high.... details below and thanks in advance....

  • MelD17011 - congrats on the BFP!!!! I'm so happy for you!!! I think they just want to see them doubling which yours are. I think @dragonfaerie had high betas like that with just 1. Did you implant more than 1 where multiples could be an option?

  • I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed and it has caught up with me.  I seem to be coming down with the cold that's going around the school.

The pregnancy is great! I love the comments people make,  especially the students. Even when I'm tired at the end of the day,  I can tolerate it because it's all worth it.

My dh is the one stressing me out. He's gotten us involved in too many home projects. None of them are related to the baby, but he wants everything to be finished before the baby is here. I want to put on the breaks since it's too much for me.  Although I have a lot of work and  some stress from work,  I handle that stress well since it's part of a job I've been doing for many years. In other words,  I can leave most stress from the work day at work since I'm used to it.

One of the reasons I think my dh and I are together is because he pushes things forward  and always wants better.  I'd rather not deal with the stress. I tend to settle in order to keep things stable and stress free. So when  I start thinking to myself that he has a nerve to make his pregnant wife feel so overwhelmed,  I remember that he pushed or I should say  "strongly encouraged"  me to go for my masters degree many years back. Rather than complain over the too many things going on and putting a stop to it,  I'm just taking one day at a time and try to remember he's trying to improve things.  He asked me to pick something up at Lowes on  my way home from work. It is sort of an  emergency purchase,  but I  would have been willing to go tomorrow and I think it could have waited 16 hours. I had to say no.  I already had  an hour commute home and was really not feeling well. He's not feeling great either, but he went out to get what he needs anyway. You know,  I'm still glad I didn't go. I'm more sore then usual, really worn down, my asthma seems to be acting up a little,  and I need to stay healthy for another person. I called out sick for tomorrow, which will hopefully help. I know I'm doing the right thing.  I really wish things would be nice and calm,  but I'll try to appreciate the messes he gets us into knowing that I would normally not normally push myself as far and eventually there will be a good outcome  I just know I'm doing the right thing by pausing a bit.
  • @MelD17011 I'm so happy for you! Your betas are looking great. How many did you transfer? I know it's common to think high betas are associated with multiples, but it's not always the case. It's also possible for 1 embryo to split. We transferred only 1 and my initial beta was 174, followed by around 340-350 I believe. Do they have you coming back for another beta or an u/s?

  • @MelD17011 Wow, great Betas! Congrats lady!! My beta at 10dpt was almost 1000 and we just ended up with a singleton. Yours seems pretty high, but it's not necessarily a guarantee of multiples.

@LynnNJ I'm sorry that you are experiencing so much stress, and then sickness on top of it! I'm very glad that you can appreciate your DH's qualities, but still stand up for yourself about what you are and are not prepared to do. Try to rest on your day off and get some sleep if you can. Perhaps you can figure out with DH what projects are urgent and what can wait until later to reduce your stress. I hope you're able to relax on your day off today and not worry about all the house work. Your health and the well-being of your baby are most important, so take care of yourself.

  • @MelD17011 awesome betas!!! Congrats!

@LynnNJ you DH sounds a bit like mine! He has so many house projects he wants done BEFORE the baby gets here, and this is on top of what the contractors are doing. I just got off couch rest 2 weeks ago so Im super tentative about pushing myself, and maybe I'm babying myself a little too. Don't do more than you think you reasonably can!

  • @MelD17011  Congrats on the betas!  I think mine were very similar with this round of IVF and I'm only carrying one.  So if you only transferred one chances are its just one, but you'll know during the ultrasound.  Keep us posted!

Love to see everyone's home improvement projects.  We are also in the middle of doing a few small things and are constantly going back and forth on buying a bigger house.  We made an offer this week, but it was a competitive bid and we didn't get it :-(

Other than that, the cervical issues I was having, is now stable -- so no more weekly cervical checks! I just have to keep an eye out for pre-term labor symptoms.  So question for you all -- since I had this issue, doctor restricted us to no intercourse.  That has now been lifted which I am so excited about it because it's been about 5-6 weeks since we've been intimate.  Problem is DH is still freaked out and thinks if we are, I'm going to go into labor. I've tried reassuring him but so far its not working.  I think he's also having a hard time reconciling the whole wife/mother complex. Anyone else dealing with this?

  • @knottie1432834683 same issue. We were on a sex ban from w19-w25 while on couch rest. Now that we can, I'm like let's go! DH is still freaked out and thinks our previous bleeding issue was caused by intercourse. I'm feeling like sex isn't in our near future, like not until after baby is born. It makes me sad and a bit undesired, but I do understand I suppose. Good luck I hope he comes around for you.

  • Knottie1432834683 I just wanted to clarify, do you think your DH is struggling with seeing you as both wife and mother? It can be really hard for some men to make that transition, especially with how society doesn't do a very good job sometimes of teaching men about pregnancy and after. Maybe you could buy some cute lingerie? Take things slow, work up to it. I hope things get better for you soon and I am so glad that your issue is gone!

  • @vssbrm - omg yes exactly. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a freaked out DH.
@dragonfaerie - I think he's mostly freaked out and thinks if we have sex, its going to cause spontaneous delivery. But I'm also an undertone of uncertainty that he wants to with a baby in me.  He says things like "do you think the baby can feel it?"   I'm sure it will get better and the sexy lingerie is a good idea to try :-)

I also have my diabetes test on Friday.  Hopefully it will go ok!
    About me:
Me 35, DH 36 (Unexplained Infertility, possible PCOS) TTC for 3.5 years.

  • Results back in 24-48 hours.
  • I'm now experiencing foot swelling and hand swelling and my hands are falling asleep at night. Apparently there is carpal tunnel in pregnancy. Oy!
  • Good luck to those of you doing the diabetes test this week.
  • Good luck with the diabetes test! I go next week for mine. I'm very particular about what I drink, I only drink water, OJ, super diluted lemonade and ginger ale. Well and coffee when not going thru all this. So I'm really not looking forward to drinking that stuff!

  • It wasn't too bad. It tasted like flat orange soda to me. If you don't like sugary it might be kind of gross. Hopefully there won't be a 3 hour test.
  • @Joyzie77 FX for your results! I cam come last night, looked at my test referral sheet and realized my test is actually next week and not this. Glad to hear the drink wasn't too bad for you.

  • Knottie1432834683 Ah, that makes sense. Just remind him that doctors are super smart. :) I think there's a protein or something in semen that can cause cramping, so it freaks people out because it might feel like contractions, but it's totally normal and does not mean that you are actually going into labor. And your tummy is nice and padded, baby has no idea what's going on. :)
@Joyzie77 Hope you get awesome results!! And yes, my tendonitis flares up in my wrists and goes into my elbows every few weeks, feels great! >.<

  • Joyzie77 - the struggle is real with the swelling! If I'm on my feet too much, they swell. If I don't get up enough to move around, the swell. I can't win! I have been soaking them in epsom salts or taking a bath at the end of the day and that helps.

My glucose is Monday. I took one at the end of August b/c my OB wanted to be extra careful and it wasn't bad. We are just re-testing Monday to make sure everything is still good.

  • I have my glucose test in 4 weeks.  At my appointment today they gave me the drink to take home fire next time.  I have to drink it 1 hour before the blood is drawn,  so they have it to me in advance in  case I want to drink it on the way over.

I don't know much about this,  but I am Rh negative.  I was told I need to get a shot in the backside at my next appointment. I guess I can't complain much since I was able to avoid the progesterone shots. I think I have to get another shot right after the baby is born.

I  was also told that I will likely have my c-section on Jan 13th, 14th, or the following Monday.

I am also wonder if anyone else's DHs have not been able to feel the baby move yet.  I mean  I sometimes literally see a spot on my belly shake and he I not paying attention.  When  I finally get his attention and tell him to put his hand on my belly, he puts his hand on my belly for 20 seconds,  says he feels  nothing,  and removes his hand. It's kind of frustrating since I want him to feel more connected.  I know it will come in time,  but I'm impatient.
  • LynnNJ - my ob gave me the drink early too. They want you to drink it exactly 1 hour before the blood draw so having it means I don't have to wait in her office for an hour. Plus I'm able to refrigerate it which makes it easier to drink

DH wasn't able to feel him move until just a few weeks ago. I'm sure once he can feel baby you will see a difference. It's one of my favorite things to see how excited DH gets when he can feel it.
