Re: Introductions

  • Welcome @BourbonBiscuits! I think most of us on here can relate, so sorry for that stress. I also have a couple friends who have a very similar job to you and I know covid is making it super tough! Hang in there! Holiday break can't come soon enough...

  • @herewegoagain3rd so very sorry you are leaving us. You are in my thoughts.
  •  @ladyk127 goodness, no wonder you have anxiety about medical appt given what you and your family have gone through. I hope your first appt goes well and is less stressful than you anticipate. Thinking of you!
  • @jaxbl welcome! We may be due date twins! Also, I’m in the legal field and my husband is an engineer. 🙂
  • @jaxbl I've found myself wanting cottage cheese too!
  • There's a lot of August 6th due date twins as well! @BourbonBiscuits are you really 8/27? wouldn't that make you not yet positive? Just curious.

  • @claireloSC hahah no that’s a typo. 8/17 I think. LMP was 11/10. So I haven’t missed a period yet but got 3 clear positives 🤷🏼‍♀️
  • @BourbonBiscuits haha that makes way more sense!

Aww what are the odds? Kismet.
  • @cyanope hi from J16! I totally remember you. :) Happy you made it here @lrynwnab!

  • @claireloSC, I thought I recognized your name, but wasn’t totally positive! I felt like I was mostly a lurker back then. It’s good to see a familiar face!
  • @emeraldcity1214 I had a large SCH with my daughter (who is almost 2) and it was so traumatizing. Fingers crossed for none this time around 🤞🏼
  • @dancingnarwhal, welcome! And no symptoms at this stage is TOTALLY normal. I usually don’t get any noticeable symptoms until 6 weeks. It’s only this go around that my symptoms seemed immediate.
  •  I love playing Dungeons and Dragons, hiking, camping, knitting, and listening to true crime podcasts.

True crime podcasts are my favorite!! I love Crime Junkie the most. Also, I wish I could knit. I'm sure that's going to be super handy with a baby on board!
  • @surrenderdorothy Thank you!  It's been a traumatizing few years but my husband just got another clean bill of health at almost 4 years remission so we are feeling really positive about that.  Hoping my appt goes well too!

  • @jaxbl - it’s pretty easy to learn! I just taught myself using YouTube.
  • @BourbonBiscuits I’m praying for none this time. Although, statistically it would be likely for me to have another one. I’m just hoping if I do have one my provider puts me on progesterone suppositories and I can stay on my couch as much as possible.
  • @ladyk127 I just went back and ready your intro post - my wife had cancer as well, this baby is her egg. She retrieved embryos before undergoing chemo. Just want to say I know your pain and anxiety! Once you've gone through cancer you're always waiting for the other shoe to drop.

  • @claireloSC
It's so true.  I always expect bad news.  We've probably gotten more good test results than bad at this point but that feeling hasn't left me yet.  I wonder if it ever will honestly.  I hope your wife is doing well now!!

  • @ladyk127 Totally, that's exactly how I feel. She's just about to hit her two year cancer free anniversary! She had stage 3 breast cancer.

  • @claireloSC That's great.  Good for her!  Praying for continuous good news.  My husband wasn't staged.  Leukemia works a little differently.  If he hadn't gone to the doctor when he did, he probably wouldn't have survived another two weeks.  He had half of the normal blood amount someone should have.  His was very aggressive.  Typically the survival rate is about 20% but we've almost made it!  Hopefully we're all just getting good news from here on out.

  • @ladyk127 My god, so glad you caught it. So happy for your family! Hoping you keep getting more good news!

I could tell stories for days. My wife's cancer was also pretty insane, most BC patients are way older so that along makes her a high chance for recurrence and then also her tumor was insanely huge, 12cm, and had spread to lymph nodes. She also had surgery and they left some cancer behind so she had to have them redo her surgery. So she's completely flat now, all lymphs gone on one side, ovaries removed (since her cancer is hormone driven) plus high doses of radiation and chemo. If it comes back at least we know we did everything possible and more. But yeah, you're always worrying about every little cough. This insta has a lot of funny young survivor memes that help me feel less alone. Mostly I worry about raising our kids by myself but I've gotten into a mindset of thinking enjoy what we have and if it happens I'll manage eventually and we have to live our lives. I feel a lot better she's made it two years (in another week) because she had some super high chance of recurrence that I try not to think about. Cancer is a big TW. And my mother in law and another family member passed of it (lung and stomach cancer probably, they actually never figured it out) as well and I helped both of them with their care, so I'm unfortunately an expert. Having a baby is the best FU to cancer ever though!

  • @claireloSC and @ladyk127 you guys are such warriors. I'm so inspired by your strength. <3
  • @claireloSC Two years is a big deal!  That was a huge milestone for Colin as well.  If AML is going to come back it's most likely to happy in the first two years.  Once we got past that I could breath a LITTLE easier... not by much though.  Agree about having a baby in spite of it all.  They said we would need to do IVF because he would likely be sterile after chemo, so we banked.  But I've been pregnant three times since he ended chemo so we finally got rid of what we banked after my daughter was born.  That was a good feeling.  I have to see a breast specialist at the hospital because of my family history.  My great grandmother died of BC, my grandmother had cervical cancer and then colon cancer years later, my mom got uterine cancer a month after my husband was diagnosed so because of all that they think early testing is wise (I'm 33)  At least get a baseline!  I did the DNA testing, but everything came back okay so that was reassuring.
I wish I had better advice for getting through the "what if I end up alone" thing.  The only thing I've always reminded myself of was, nothing is promised to anyone.  I could walk outside and get hit by a bus and Col would end up alone.  That's morbid.. but it's true.  It's not promised to anyone. We can't worry about every little thing forever. Sometimes that helped.  I am really glad COVID wasn't a thing back in 2016 though, I'll say that.

  • Hi everyone! First time mom to be over here with all the feels.

    Due date?
    August 15, 2021

    How did you find out?
I’m an information hoarder by nature so I started testing 8 dpo and got my first positive test on day 9. I’ve been testing daily to track hcg progression with the lines darkening and someone needs to tell me when to stop haha

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?)

This is my first child, my husband and I are in our late 20’s and have been together for 10 years. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats and my sister also lives with us, which I anticipate will be incredibly helpful the first few months.

My husband and I are pretty chill - I work in leadership at a fast paced start up so most of my time is spent overworking and decompressing from overworking 😂 I definitely want to spend the next 9 months figuring out what will be the new normal. We love board games, movie nights, reading, nights hanging out with our friends.

    First appointment? Any symptoms?
First appointment is 01/06/2021. Symptom wise I’m having fatigue, runny nose, vivid dreams, some occasional light nausea, and fatigue. So far no morning sickness or sore breasts, which I probably should be grateful for but really am just feeling anxious something isn’t right.

Excited to connect with everyone more and follow along with all of the incredible journeys following a similar timeline to mine 🥰 thanks for reading if you made it this far!
  • Due date?  August 27th but it will be a RCS so I'll deliver at least 1 week earlier.

How did you find out? We were trying so I tested yesterday and got a faint line. Today's line is nice and dark:)

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) I'm 41. I have an almost 7 year old daughter and an almost 18 month old daughter. We decided to try again before our window closes and here we are:) I'm a high school teacher (still on mat leave from DD2...go back January 4th) and SO is an architect. Hoping I get to stick around for the long haul! I was mostly a lurker here with DD1 in 2013/14, but loved my BMB here with DD2.

    TW

I had a chemical in September and 2 later losses between my 2 girls so I'm hoping this one is a fighter and that we caught an egg that isn't too old and moldy...

    End TW

    First appointment? Any symptoms?
I haven't made an appointment yet, but I'm hoping I'll be able to do it by phone. I'll likely call on Monday. Only symptoms are nausea and sore boobs.

Off to read through all the other intros...
