@sierra2020 Yes, I had one that was found around a 5w when I started bleeding (the doc wasn’t sure if it was caused by a bleed or a second sac that was not viable, though). I continued to spot for a couple weeks and it eventually stopped. At my latest u/s there was just a tiny bit of clotting left, but it had mostly be reabsorbed. The doctor told me I may still see some blood from time to time but it will likely just continue to be absorbed.
Happy to answer any questions I can from my experience but of course your doctor probably knows more!
I went to my doctor for a ten week appointment yesterday. We found out the reason for all my spotting. There is a cyst on my cervix. They did a Pap smear and probably scared the heck out of my husband. Having never seen one of those before, it was not comforting for him for it to come back all bloody. But at least we know what is causing the symptoms.
@dobiemom11 Glad to hear the mystery is solved, and sounds like something that isn't a threat to the pregancy? (this is a guess, I'm so sorry if I'm wrong) My husband's never experienced a Pap smear, but was with me for my CVS and was terrified when he caught sight of the needle. To his credit he totally held it together, babbled the whole time about basketball like a crazy person (I told him to talk to me about basketball; he could go for hours and it's enough to keep me distracted)
@dobiemom11 I hope that you’re able to feel better knowing the reason! And hoping for a good result from any tests they’re doing.
That’s something I had never thought of - men being squeamish having never seen one - but makes perfect sense! If they only knew more about all the things we go through, I imagine they’d be quite shocked.
@dobiemom11 glad they figured out the spotting and sounds like it shouldn’t be something too serious I hope! Will they be able to take care of it and end the spotting?
@laurenspdx. I think he was more concerned that I looked concerned. I was like that isn't normal!
The doctor didn't really seemed concerned and we just moved onto the next thing. So I guess everything is fine unless the tests come back abnormal. We will cross that bridge when we get there.
I got my NT scan results back today and everything looked fine but I have a small subchorionic hematoma, doc said it’s common and typically resolves on its own and I haven’t had any bleeding. Just wondering if anyone else had this or have had this in previous pregnancies?
@tryingktogku I had one that did cause my spotting in the first tri. Even though the spotting stopped around week 8, they still saw a small one left at my last ultrasound (very tiny). Doctor said i may end up seeing some bleeding from it, or it may just get absorbed again. Even when I had the larger bleed, the doctor said that she almost always sees them resolve with no impact on the pregnancy.
@tryingktogku For sure! If I learned anything from my experience, it’s that SCHs are more common than I thought. It’s a good thing to keep an eye on but try not to worry too much. And you can always talk to your doctor about it!
@tryingktogku I was diagnosed with one at my ultrasound last week. I haven’t had any bleeding yet either but the doc said not to be surprised if I do experience some and just to come in and have them check it out. I’m hoping it just resolves without any bleeding!
I woke up today with some brown and light pink spotting and some sharp very low abdominal cramping that has been intermittent. I called my OB, at first they told me to just sit tight, and call back if it the spotting turned red, but then after I sounded frantic the OB nurse offered to just bring me in this afternoon. I know all of this is pretty routine & normal & there are a number of possible causes, but I’m just freaking out because I just have no idea what’s going on and obviously and jumping to the worst conclusion. We just saw the baby two days ago on the NT Ultrasound and all looked good and normal. I’m hoping there’s another cause for this and she’s still growing and okay.

Thank you guys 🙏🏻 Baby looked fine and had a good heartbeat THANK GOD, but they see a 2-inch tear at the bottom of my uterus near my cervix and right next to the placenta, with bleeding & the uterine muscle is cramping and tightening.
They put me on 4-weeks of pelvic rest - basically a modified version of bed rest where I can move to the couch and still go to the bathroom and shower. No exercise, no sex, no lifting. I’m going to have monthly ultrasounds now. They don’t know what caused it, but I think I just started doing to much around the house again all at once.
If bleeding or cramping worsens I’m supposed to call and go in for another ultrasound.
@shelmcclel I’ve been looking for your update! So happy to hear baby is fine! I’m sorry you had to go through such a scare. Take it easy the best you can!

@shelmcclel So glad baby is ok! Sorry to hear you have so scale back so much. Hopefully it will go by fast and you’ll be back on your feet with a healthy bean soon!
@shelmcclel so happy for you that baby is doing just fine! Try and enjoy your pelvic rest! Bask in the much needed down time and hopefully by the next ultrasound all is resolved!
