I borrowed this idea from a previous BMB. I think it is important for us all to have a dedicated forum when dealing with these upsetting issues. I have seen multiple posts about spotting/bleeding and have experienced it myself, so this is a space for us to discuss those things outside of the regular symptoms thread.
This thread is to support anyone experiencing spotting and/or bleeding.
All conversation surrounding these issues should go here. The TW in the title applies for the whole thread. Please beware of reading ahead if you think you might be triggered by conversations about spotting/bleeding.
Finally, remember that most of us are not medical professionals, and even if we were, it's always best to call/visit your doctor with questions or concerns. Feel free to ask questions and voice concerns, but please do not expect anyone here to be able to offer you anything but support. The most important thing to do is to call your doctor. They can offer answers; we can offer support.

Re: *TW* Spotting/Bleeding/Threatened Loss Support
Thanks for creating this thread! We’re expecting our first and I’m 7 weeks. Sharing my experience in case it helps anyone! I know reading about other people’s experiences helped me a lot.
I had spotting / light bleeding starting at 5w and it lasted 5 days. It was every color from brown to red to pink. I had an ultrasound during that time but it was too early to see anything other than a yolk sac, though my betas showed high and rising hcg. The bleeding finally stopped, though I’ve had some brown spotting here and there since then.
Luckily, we had our follow up ultrasound on Wednesday and we were able to see our bean with a healthy heartbeat. The doctor also saw something which is either an SCH or a second, empty gestational sac. She doesn’t think either will negatively impact the pregnancy and should be reabsorbed as the baby grows. In the meantime, I’m on pelvic rest and avoiding anything strenuous. My daily walk is all the exercise I do!
It’s such a scary symptom but so many people experience it. Sending positive vibes to anyone experiencing it and feeling scared. You’re not alone!
*TMI* We would say a little blood on the toilet paper after a #2 is frequently associated with tiny tears from constipation and is super common. This can get worse and progress to a fissure, which is more indicated if going #2 comes with a very sharp pain in the skin area. Finally, of course we can also develop hemorrhoids during constipation and pregnancy which can also cause some bleeding. Treatment is aggressive constipation treatment and most of the time this goes away. Lots of hydration, miralax, no straining, use a squatting step, etc. If a lot of blood is falling into the bowl, it's getting worse, etc. I would discuss with your doc.
@gh1219 thank you! I think I’ll have to try some restoralax lol I was trying to just increase fiber intake normally but it’s not doing it!

@knottie2aa00c438298db79 sorry you're in this uncertainty boat with me, hope it turns out ok for us both.
Will keep you all updated after my ultrasound and please keep me posted too!
I know it can be scary, especially when other moms to be are saying they never had it. Trying not to compare is hard. Grateful for this platform.
Everyone is just so different that it’s so hard to find reassurance that matches your unique situation, which is so frustrating. I must have googled every combination under the sun! But ultimately it just takes patience and trust in your doctors.
Hoping everyone is able to find some peace during the wait and that you all get good news. Remember to be kind to yourselves and trust your bodies. Sending good vibes!!
I have had some very light spotting this week, but not cramping or anything. I went to the Dr yesterday and had an ultrasound that showed a healthy pregnancy/baby with a strong heartbeat. I felt so relieved as I've never had spotting during a pregnancy without a miscarriage being discovered immediately. Today I did a 10 prenatal beginner's yoga video and then took a walk at the park with my 2 year old and just had light pink watery spotting, but a little more than yesterday. I'm trying not to worry but I just can't help it. Again, thank you for sharing some of your experiences because it is helping me to just breathe and get my mind on other things and relax a bit. I'm getting ready to tuck in my little and am going to prop up my feet and pray for the best!
Love to each of you!
I had another u/s today - I was nervous bc my nausea seemed to have gone away. I felt so silly to even mention it but after the bleeding earlier in the pregnancy, I just get so paranoid about everything! The nurse I talked to encouraged me to come in just for reassurance. I was able to see a much bigger bean than last week (it nearly tripled in size in 9 days!). Now, knowing it’s growing has helped a lot. Still random brown spotting some days but it seems to have mostly resolved fx.
Sending positive wishes to everyone experiencing this!
Hopefully the heavy bleeding today is just a blip and it goes down again. You may have done something unknowingly to irritate things a bit more? Did the doctors see anything that could have been causing the bleed at your u/s (like an SCH) or does it just seem to be irritated tissue?
