I'm a bit uncomfortable with not knowing where something second hand has come from which is why im reluctant but its just so much cheaper than buying the nice shiny new one so i am tempted. But i also like shiny new things and am a brat so i dont know!
we had the single version for dd which i justified the cost for that we could use it for a second child. & if this were a single pregnancy i would 100% be doing that because i absolutely love it. Due to loving it so much, i want the same special edition double version but its just so expensive. Very first world problems and i am tempted by the second hand one cause its so much cheaper. DH thinks we should at least go see it & then make a decision.
@leprechaunlady I agree with your hubby, you should definitely at least go see it! Couldn’t hurt. And that way you can see if it’s damaged or needs anything before you make a decision!
@leprechaunlady I'm definitely thinking second hand because I'm looking at the uppababy Vista which is crazy expensive. We plan to look at one this weekend. I don't care so much about color but just make sure it is the model with the features I want. I'm willing to wait for the right deal to come by.
@biolprof i initially looked at the uppababy vista for the twin version but whilst it has rave reviews as a single, the reviews are only mediocre for the twin version. Also, i kinda want a side by side aswell as loving our bugaboo cameleon so much which is why i want to stick with bugaboo this time round again.
Wow, this makes me look so cheap....I'm buying a plain black umbrella stroller because the lime green/black one I want is 200USD, and black is 80USD. Maybe I should buy the lime one after all!
@fyreflyerush its all personal choice & what you're comfortable with spending. As a result of spending so much initially, i refused to spend anything on an umbrella stroller for dd cause shes kinda outgrowing her original pram & its not as handy to take everywhere, so i borrowed one from my cousin for our italy trip in june.
@FyreFlyeRush hi 👋. I’m the queen of cheap! I try my best to get everything at a good price and prefer to go used. Don’t feel bad about it. Kids go through so much so quickly! I got a car seat for $100 less than normal price because the color was being discontinued. No shame over here!
@leprechaunlady , This is a newer version of the one I used with my son. The infant seat snaps into it, making it a travel system. I'm fairly tall, close to 71" (~180cm), and it has long handles. It'll be the only stroller I get him. It should last about 3-4 years.
Buying second hand is new to me but after seeing how little use you get out of some things it's totally the way to go.
I got my glider + foot rest on FB Marketplace for $100 originally $500 and sadly I used it 3 times so that was a waste hahaha.
My bucket seat I will borrow from my brother whose DD will be in a toddler carseat by the time I get to use it so perfect timing! I also used it years ago for my DD so it might be nearing the end of it's life haha.
This time I'll get a Halo Bassinet and a Momaroo on FB marketplace since the price is literally more than half off
I went cheap but new for a stroller/carseat combo for DD, and while I love the bucket seat, I hate the stroller. I don't like umbrella strollers either because all the ones I've used I bang my foot against the wheels. This time, my MIL gifted us a second hand double stroller, so we'll see how I like that one! I can't use it until the baby can sit up though because it doesn't have a bucket seat attachment.
@schreibaby I definitely do! I'm not as tired and headaches are slowly decreasing, but I do get random twinges when I get up from going to the bathroom or I turn in my bed too fast- RLP maybe?
But yes- it's the "no more symptoms" but "don't feel movement" stage and I am definitely in the more nervous camp
@amb0924 Yeah, sounds like RLP. I've had that as well, but not in the last couple of days...
My bump even feels smaller - I think because my constipation has finally let up. I have my 16 week apt first thing on Monday morning, just have to stay calm until then. The only thing that seems like a pg symptom is my appetite, haha.
Does anyone know if all amusement park rides are a no-go? Are small drops bad? Sorry if this is an obvious answer. I'm not one to get an adrenaline rush on rides so I'm wondering if anyone has any info them.
@ang3lbb If they are relatively slow like a carousel or Ferris wheel it’s fine but nothing with a lot of jolts and bumps. I checked every sign at Hershey Park and those were the only rides I could go on.
@amb0924 Magnesium supplement helps me for the constipation. I take one 250 mg twice a day. Does wonders, but if you start to get the runs back off to once a day. 😊
@amb0924 Just had my 16 week appt and everything looks great. Well, sounds great since they only listened to the heartbeat. Hope all is well for you too!
@fishakris, If this is your first pregnancy, the cramping can be common as everything stretches and adjusts the first time. I also noticed in my second pregnancy, the "practice" contractions starting in the second tri were MUCH stronger. Also, gas, constipation, a full bladder...all those things can mimic cramping. Most of the time I have what feels like cramping it's a gas bubble that's stuck and changing positions will shift it.
@fishakris I'm sorry, I know how scary that can be. As long as there is no spotting along with the cramps, try to assume everything is normal. There is a lot of growing and stretching going on down there, that's probably what is.
@ang3lbb I’m going to Disney soon and I’m just following all their pregnancy warnings. Rides with 1 small drop but no height restriction (Frozen, Pirates) don’t have them. Disney certainly doesn’t want to get sued so I trust their restrictions!
Thanks for the info! I'm going to universal so it looks like they're all off limits for me. I did read that they may accommodate with stationary seats for certain rides. I'll enjoy the shows though!
I saw from the weekly GTKY questions that some people mention not lifting heavy items. I guess this slipped my mind since I'm constantly lifting my toddler. What are you all putting your weight limit at now? This is something I'll also ask the midwife on thursday
@c1kc1kpol1cn1k, I read somewhere if you normally lifted a certain weight before becoming pregnant (but not lifting weights), it's ok to continue lifting that item...or person...until it becomes uncomfortable. I just recently had to stop picking up my 52lbs 7yo if he fell asleep in the living room, as it causes RLP.
I'm still lifting my 35-40 lb toddler but I'm trying to start minimizing it due to the back pain. It's so hard though; like this morning, I asked my husband to do his diaper change and kiddo was like "NO! Mama change me PLEEEEAASSSEEE" and then I'm a puddle and do his bidding, back be damned.
Re: Question Thread
@marebear15 im having trouble with the idea of spending $500 on a double.

I know in the second trimester a lot of the symptoms are supposed to fade, but it's nerve-wracking feeling nothing at all.
I definitely do! I'm not as tired and headaches are slowly decreasing, but I do get random twinges when I get up from going to the bathroom or I turn in my bed too fast- RLP maybe?
