@emeraldduchess They are a super high energy bunch and I’m keeping them busy with lots of projects, so they’re mostly okay... or at least they were before I took my half day on Thursday after Junior Achievement Day. (Great program for elementary kids and adults to volunteer for btw!)

Hopefully your kids can keep it together for a few more days.

There's a great example in the 1st Tri board. Someone posted their stick asking if it was their rainbow baby. They're told not to post by someone and to test again to be sure. *Thread closes*

Then at like 1AM the next day they posted a pic again and that got shut down by the Bags within 2 hours.

Do people get notified when their threads get closed? Again, do they not read?

@inthewoods23 People don’t read. Hence the Peggy we got that previously posted a one-off and had the process explained. Now, Dr. Peggy is very angry because she still didn’t follow the rules.

I wonder if the peggies come here to ask there questions because they can then argue when they don't like the answers. You can't argue with Google or call it names. Well, you can, but you won't get to actually piss anyone off in the process.

@mercury94 lol I love the Peggy's that get all snippy about our snark and say "I just wanted my question answered!". Why are we the ones qualified over your own doctor to tell you drinking before getting a +HPT is totally fine??

@inthewoods23 totally agree....also the fact she's worried her baby will have FAS from FOUR drinks...over the course of a day....before the embryo is even attached? Maybe she should look up FAS and how babies actually get it? Seems like a quick google search to me.

@craftywitch sometimes I would love to do that but I also don't want to spread false info. Although I guess if the snarky answer isn't harmful, even though it's wrong, it's probably fine right?

I do love a "that's definitely negative" when a Peggy posts a clear as day positive HPT. I do love to troll that lol.

@inthewoods23 Oh you're definitely right that we shouldn't be intentionally spreading false info, but you'd think a doctor themselves would know you get what you get when asking internet strangers for medical advice...

I haven't seen a 'definitely negative' on a HPT hit and run yet, but I'll take my giggles where I can get them!

I loved this one...logs on to a message board filled with strangers, positive we're qualified to answer her question, then informs you that your college professor most definitely was *not* qualified to have an opinion. Bravo. Really going the extra mile, this Peggy.

MH just informed me about a new phrase ppl he knows (Gen Yers) are saying--"out of pocket" but to mean that they are busy? Like, "My son has a softball game, so I will be out of pocket at this time." Has anyone ever heard this before?! It's super new to me.

@kagesstarshroom I've heard that phrase - not a ton, but it's definitely used at my company.

Also I'm literally laughing to myself at my desk abt Dr. Peggy and all of these responses.

@kagesstarshroom Yep, we’ve been using it since college days. From my experience hearing it among athletes first, then down south in a largely black community, I think it’s yet another phrase that is totally common with black folks & eventually made its way into the everyday.

@kagesstarshroom Another fun fact: it has two uses: being busy, like “Hit me up before Friday because I’m gonna be out of pocket all weekend” as well as the very popular among dating men who don’t want to spend a lot money: “If this chick thinks I’m gonna come out of pocket to pay for her free meal” hahaha

@keikilove So informative! So interesting. It is "new" to us, but I knew this would be a good place to hit up to see if it was just new to us or actually had been around a while. These are white, cajun dudes using it &, as I mentioned, Gen Y-ers. Fascinatinggg.

@celticknotfire yeah for having a PhD she had no clue... FAS was briefly covered in my Abnormal Psych class. Maybe I should have a PhD in psychology since I know more than her lol

I thought about saying this in the thread but didn't want to start anything... but she sounds like she'd be an anti-vaxxer since she can't even trust her doctor's opinion and medical take on FAS.

@kagesstarshroom - interesting, I associate "out of pocket" with office jargon used by older people (meaning a boss of mine was the first person I heard use it a few years ago). I think I'm Gen Y but not sure...I know I'm a millennial. I'll probably start hearing lots of ppl my age use it now!

@kagesstarshroom I hear “out of pocket” a lot when people aren’t in their offices, etc. I’m one of the youngest in my office (almost 34), so I don’t think it’s that new, but maybe it’s new to your region.

My office provided a training for those interested in generations working together. The woman who provided the training listed the generations as this

Traditionalists born 1922-1945
Baby Boomers born 1946-1964
Generation X born 1965-1979
Generation Y born 1980-1985
Millennials born 1986-1995
Generation Z born 1996-2004 (?)

@kagesstarshroom - ohh yeah, we are an inter-generational relationship too haha...SO will be glad to know he's part of a generation!

This is a rant of mine, so many ppl don't understand that millennials are not kids/teenagers! I'm one and I'm 35 years old! (Born in 1984...you're right, I think it's 1981 or 82 to 1996ish?) The youngest ones are working-age. Millennials are having families and buying property if possible and making the economy run. (This rant was directed at no one, I just always go off on it when generations come up

)

I can also get nothing done today!

I hate being lumped in with millennials since it’s such a negative connotation at this point. I feel like there’s a big difference between the “older” and “younger” millennials and it's mostly the younger ones (some of them at least...not all) that have given us a bad name.

@lulu1180 The years change everywhere I look, it seems. The term "millennial" didn't exist until pretty recently, and I identify much more with what *was* referred to as Gen Y, until they seemed to just kind of get lumped in with millennials. I'm excited for the baby boomers to retire and Gen Z to start entering the workforce so there will be a new young generation for the older ones to hate on.

@shamrocandroll I've noticed that those within the first half of gen Y seem to relate more to gen Xers while those in the later half relate more to millennials. Although I have to say that the woman who did the training was great! She made costume changes and came out dressed as someone from that generation each time, using their mannerisms, language, etc while describing why they are the way they are. And while she was talking about the millennials, it made me start to tear up just a little. It really kind of clicked for me at that point. The reason that a lot of millennials are the way the are is because of the world that they grew up in where there was one bad thing after another. I wish I could remember better what she said, but suffice to say it helped me to understand that generation a little better

I frequently go on rants about generations. I also feel like people have very different definitions of millennials. I wouldn’t call myself a millennial (born in 1985), but I was a teenager Y2K, so maybe that’s where the definition really should be. Most people I know think of millennials more as Gen Z (born in early 2000s). It’s so confusing.

I hate all the Baby Boomers saying younger generations are lazy and have it easy. When my dad was in law school, he paid in tuition what I paid for books 30ish years later (at the same school). My tuition was 10 times that cost. He says inflation, but my starting salary was not 10 times his and we literally had the same job until he retired. That’s the essence of my rant on what people should understand about how things have changed before they judge the younger generations.

@mercury94 I think about this stuff often - my salary is not significantly higher than my parents' at a comparable age, and yet every other price is so inflated.

@whitealbum29 1984 here too! Unrelated: I have a list of notable celebs born in 1984 lol. Lebron James and Mandy Moore are Zellenials "Just Like Us™️!"

Also, a general big Yes to the years/reasons changing all the time.

I like Xellenial as a "micro generation" term for like 1980-1986ish bc we didn't ALWAYS have the internet, it grew up with us? but anyone after that (THOUGH, TBF, I'm not drawing a hard line for these years either, and class is definitely a factor as well that changes this convo a lot) likely had the internet from the point they would have been "allowed" to use it, and those are millenials--through GenZ & like--the internet like TOOK OFF and is totally different than what it was for us as kids.
