Ok, I promise I will get off my soapbox after this comment.😬 Just look at the number of people here who have experience w Lyme, and there aren’t even that many of us that actively participate on this board. That’s quite a large percentage of our group that’s been affected by Lyme.
I’m preaching to the choir, but maybe this info will be helpful to those unfamiliar with Lyme. The CDC has finally updated their info: they used to estimate that only 30,000 people in the US got Lyme each year. Now they more accurately estimate that over 300,000 people in the US alone (!) get Lyme each year. It’s something like 6-10 times the rate of those getting HIV, yet it gets almost none of that attention or funding. This really makes me mad. Why did I have to go almost my whole life undiagnosed?! Because doctors are so uneducated on it, the info from the CDC has been purposefully conservative for years, and myths continue to be perpetuated, like, “You can’t have Lyme because you didn’t get a rash” or “You can’t have Lyme because there is no Lyme in Hawai’i.” This has been infuriating but I’m so glad to see that light is finally being shed on the realities of Lyme.
And I thank stars like Avril Lavigne and Yolanda Hadid of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for shifting the discussion and exposing just how common and devastating this illness can be. Even Oprah’s magazine has a thorough article on it this month. Progress, slow and steady. End rant!
At this particular pet store we like to view all the animals available before we do our shopping.
1 ferret had his head hanging down from the hammock like he's dead (just sleeping) and another is on their back with arms raised toward their head. What weirdos.
We also saw a bunny that was in such a fluffy loaf position we almost didn't know where it's head was (did not get a picture).
One of these days we might add a bird or another reptile to our mini zoo 😬

My husband and I pulled out some ugly trees and bushes today in front of our turd of a rental lol. They were pretty much dead with a little bit of green because the types of bushes they put out there needs bunch of sun. Anyways there’s ONE half dead bush that we are waiting to rip out because a dove is in it trying to sit on her one lonely egg! Picture isn’t great because I didn’t want to spook her!
Oh good! Another use for my Jurassic Park gif! Hurry up and hatch little egg! 😆

@inthewoods23 Hahahah! Yes! So we just looked it up and apparently the male and female doves split responsibility sitting on the eggs so that apparently was wrong of me assuming it was a “her” lol
Some of to you may remember the goldfish we had that was having some issues with its swim bladder and was either floating or sinking. Well, it rebounded a bit after Easter and had been doing much better. Until today... *TW: involuntary fishslaughter

Aaaawww, sorry @shamrocandroll! I learned so much about caring for fish from your posts about the lil guy. I’d never heard about the freezer death approach, and then the ensuing debate of whether that was humane or not. May come in handy if we ever have fish pets, so that little fish has left a legacy. 😊
Adding to discussion on ticks/Lyme - we keep finding more diseases transmitted by ticks too (I guess it’s like mosquitos, too). Red meat allergy, STARI, and babesia all come to mind. If you live in a Lyme endemic area, definitely look into prophylaxis.
I will say, there are health providers who are taking advantage of people with Lyme though. You don’t need tons of “cleansing”, long term supplements (that aren’t even regulated), or tons of expensive tests. It drives me crazy to see people who are sick get taken advantage of.
@keikilove I believe you and in Lyme. I am glad people chimed in with advice to get on antibiotics. I am also v afraid of ticks. A close friend had Lyme and was v sick for years. To add insult to injury none of her doctors listened or believed her.
@brooker615@bows22@shoogapoff I am also a huge fan of BLL! Alexander Skaarsgard and Nicole Kidman, actually the entire cast killed S1! (No pun intended Haha) Also loved the soundtrack.

@keikilove thank you for all of the info on Lyme and for being an advocate. I'm sorry you've had to experience that first-hand. I don't have it (and hope I never will) but I'm familiar with the research and information because my psychotherapist is a huge Lyme advocate here in Canada. Her son was finally diagnosed with Chronic Lyme after years and years of suffering. They spent tens of thousands of dollars, if not more, on doctor's visits and testing and therapy and treatment in search of answers, only to find out it was Lyme. She wrote a book on her experiences, it's called Lyme Madness. It's an interesting read. She inspires me to also advocate for Lyme awareness.
