Re: points and the leaderboard...it's not just your comments, but love-tits also somehow play a part in all of it.  Which is why, you'll notice a lot of time when a long time reg on the board posts in the grad thread, they usually end up at the top of the leaderboard for the week.

So I haven't been posting much because I've been in a weird place mentally with NTNP, and all the adoption stuff we have going on, and I've just been feeling kind of blah. @NYTino24 omg we called those things "creek-its"--they have lived at my dad's house in NJ for Millenia. Didn't know they had a real name. I once snuck up on one and got a bada$$ pic of it like super close. (fun fact: they pop when you stomp on them. though, in my old age, I am against stomping on bugs that aren't harming you and just hopping around being cute/weird looking.)

@NYTino24 We have Jerusalem Crickets which may be the most repulsive bug on Earth. We don't see them very often, so I have idea where they hide (shudders).

@NYTino24 I couldn’t stop myself from looking them up!  My least favorite bug might be the house centipede. Most bugs don’t bother me but those ones freak me out

@NYTino24 Are they the same as "sprickets"?  My sister lived in DC for a while, and they have these spider-cricket like bugs that jump toward movement, and she took a video of one and screamed so loud as it jumped towards her, and it was hilarious (to me, sitting safely hundreds of miles away).

@varimama My stepsister is terrifed of centipedes and silverfish. I hate.... ants. Everyone always is like "ants? really?" but my point is: there are always SO MANY OF THEM. It's not like with a cockroach you see one and that's it--there are like 20 million ants and they are everywhere and crawling and you think you've killed them all w/ windex or whatever is close and deadly to ants and then there are more... :shudders: 

@brookert615 I will kill ALL the ants, though, whether they might bite/harm me or not. (see above haha).

@shamrocandroll Yes! Didn’t know they had so many names! (Common names for these insects include the cave weta, cave crickets, camelback crickets, camel crickets, spider crickets (sometimes shortened to "criders", or "land shrimp" or "sprickets", and sand treaders.)

@kagesstarshroom yea I kill ants too! They will get in your food and stuff if you don’t and you’re right where there’s one there’s like 5 million! 

I try to let harmless bugs live but DH does not share my sentiments

Peppermint oil works wonders for keeping ants out of the house!

Not sure if this needs a TW bc it’s general but just in case TW General children mentioned in regards to Peppermint oil: Peppermint oil might be dangerous for children under the age of 3 and under the age of 6 the concentration is important. 

But otherwise I also have heard it’s great for ants!

They finally came back to work on our deck some more. There's a railing now and I am just so happy and in love with it that I'm tearing up over how amazing it looks! 😭😭😭 They still have to add lighting to the stairs but just look at the transformation!!!

@kbrown2385 it's funny, I really liked not having an obstructed view of the yard when there was no railing but I like it even more with the railing now that it has been installed!
