@MRDCle@lyse01@chrissdee thanks for the support guys! I know it's for the better, I was just feeling like such a failure. I had a good chat with my boss over the phone though and she just told me to leave everything to her, and now DH is home making dinner for me. So lovely to be surrounded by amazing people, now I want to cry about how great they are... Hormones!
@honey_suckle being a MoM (mom of multiples) is tough and full of so many more obstacles and worries and trials! You've done so well to have made it this far. Twin mom to twin mom - what your body has done is amazing, you are amazing, and those sweet little boys will be amazing!

@mermaidca I actually am a widow and that’s pretty hysterical. My DH doesn’t get sick often at all but I would give him so much hell if he pulled an act like that. “Trying to make me the town black widow eh?”
😂
Hopefully his death sentence passes quickly for your sake
@honey_suckle you have so much sympathy from me, mama. Academia is weirdly non-parent-friendly, given how supposedly progressive it is. But as others have said, you're doing the right thing for your health and the health of your babies. And in reality, your career will keep, this is way more important! You're awesome and you got this. Enjoy resting, and you can always sneak in a little work from your couch at home if you really need to
@mermaidca Here's hoping your "deathly ill" husband recovers well! I'm sorry, but it's pretty damn funny (I'm sure it wouldn't be so funny if it were my DH lol)!
@lilpotatomama hopefully you got something delicious after.
@frenchfrymama yay for knocking stuff off the list! I can't believe you knocked out that much stuff all by yourself - major props.
@mermaidca the last time DH got sick with a cold, I banned him from leaving our bedroom because I was working from home and he was irritating me. Every sound he made sounded like he was dying and it was just a cold (I was on my like third lingering cold of the season and pregnant so my patience was just nonexistent at that point).
I must just look super pregnant at this point. It's been one of those days. Some lady that I was standing next to on the train apologized for not giving up her seat earlier. Then someone that I don't know came up to me while I was in the work kitchen and said "I'm going to assume that you're pregnant" then asked if I wasn't feel well because I apparently didn't respond with enough enthusiasm. She did seem understanding when I said "I'm fine, just 7 months pregnant". Then the last thing that I had to do at work today was help my one coworker move a ton of stuff for an event tomorrow to the event's site. When our Uber got there, she took the heaviest bag and I went to pick up the other (still heavy) bag and this random guy on the street was like "Ah ah ah! I got that!" and carried it over the Uber for me which had parked like 3 doors down. I literally was shocked because it's rare to have someone do something so nice because we work in a busy city where everyone is always absorbed in their own world. But basically, I'm thinking I'm starting to look as pregnant as I feel.
@thatbaintforbetty@lin0442 My cat has been wanting to make biscuits and sit on my bump every single night. Babe kicks like crazy when she's patting me. I like to think they're sharing a moment (even though they're probably both completely unaware. lol).
@jlklec19 I’ve been experiencing similar now that people can really tell that I’m pregnant. If I go to the store, people let me cut in line. When I get lunch, they give me extra food with my order. People offer to carry things/ do tasks for me. Part of me gets annoyed by it because I don’t really like accepting help/ being treated like I’m useless, but there’s other times when I’m feeling crappy and it’s nice. Definitely not mad about free food.
Has anyone else had pop up ads on the bump app? It literally just happened to me and I couldn’t back out of it. I had to close and restart the app. Will be pretty irritated if it continues.
@jlklec19@ysotte Is it bad that I like when people give me special treatment? Maybe I'm just a diva, but someone gave me their seat on the bus the other day and it made me happy. And now my DH is finally starting to worry about me lifting things (he was totally fine with me shoveling heavy, wet snow a few weeks ago!) and I'm totally fine with it!
@ysotte yes, I keep getting one too. It’s annoying the heck out of me.
People have been rushing to help me carry things too. I don’t mind, I guess. Especially since my back is killing me. But it feels weird because I’m still lifting my toddler all the time and doing yoga which lifts my body weight. I’m fine y’all. 😂 But you can help me if you want!
@rennie1108 haha. It’s definitely not bad to enjoy/appreciate it. I myself am just a very independent human being and I get weirdly insulted when people offer me assistance like they’re insinuating that I’m incapable. One thing that being pregnant has done is made me a little more accepting of help/better at asking for help when I need it.
@mermaidca thanks but don't stress, it's fine I'm not offended!
I don't think anyone really makes those jokes with the aim of being insensitive so I don't let it bother me. We all know how men are when they're sick, that's why it's a man-cold
@ysotte@rennie1108 I wish people gave me extra food! I will say that I’m always grateful when someone gives up their seat and am more irritable if I have to stand on my commute, but I’m more used to that than the help from a stranger. Normally I would have tried to object to help with the bag but it was ridiculously heavy. My coworker was carrying a ton of stuff to let me have the lighter stuff so it was nice that we had someone offer to help. But with DH I get super annoyed whenever he tells me that he’ll lift or move something, like him telling me what to do annoys me so he has to make me think that supervising is my idea lol. I know it comes from a good place, but I am stubborn.
@ysotte I am the same way and it drives my DH nuts. He always like I can help you! And I usually respond but I don’t need help. Cue exasperated sighing and endless annoyance. He’s been even more mother hen since I’ve been pregnant and I’m trying to let it go. He likes that I’m independent but he also wants me to let him help. There is no winning.

@thatbaintforbetty One of my favorite things about my SO is that most of the time he lets me be unless if I specifically ask him for help. He offers if it’s incredibly clear that I need help, but otherwise, he knows not to bother unless if I ask.
I am officially ready to call it a day. Friday is DH’s last day at his current job and he asked me last week if I would mind baking something for him to take in. I have an all day work event tomorrow so I knew I wouldn’t want to bake. Tonight I mixed up a double batch of his favorite chocolate chip cookies that can be chilled overnight and he is in charge of scooping the dough and baking them. Hopefully I’ll come home to some delicious fresh cookies tomorrow night.
@thatbaintforbetty and @ysotte, it's good they offer! My DH just assumes I can handle everything, which is nice for the most part that he knows I'm independent and capable, and annoying occasionally when I'm obviously struggling to carry in ALL of the grocery bags in one trip or something.
@jlklec19, you just reminded me that I have pre-scooped homemade chocolate chip cookies in my freezer... that's probably happening tomorrow now.
@kangstadt is it bad that before I even think about meal preparation for newborn crazy I’m going to make mass batches of cookie dough to freeze and have on hand for after this kid is born?

I love doing this but my husband just eats the frozen dough before I get the chance to make cookies with it.

Been so busy the past two weeks I have barely had a chance to keep up here - I saw the birth announcement thread and freaked out a little, especially because there was already a reply. Glad to see that it’s not an announcement yet... but feeling so super unprepared!
I went for a growth ultrasound today because baby has been measuring small but the technician says she's right on track so I'm really not sure whats going on. I also did my glucose test today ugh that drink is terrible! @suchagoodone definitely carrying low and as uncomfortable as it is to feel her bashing away on my cervix I'm grateful she not in my ribs! I'm glad im not the only one surprised to see the birth announcements thread! I can't actually wrap my head around the delivering part of pregnancy. Just thinking about it triggers my anxiety.
If you haven't done so yet, register at Amazon and then spend 10 off the list and you get a free welcome box. My box was pretty awesome it had an organic muslin swaddle and an organic cotton onsie plus a bottle and some other sample things!

Also I ordered my breast pump through edgepark last friday. They said it takes 7-10 days to process. Technically I ordered my last pump in April of 2016 so it wasn't quite 3 years but I got a shipping notification last night and it will be here tomorrow! I am super stoked to have a 2nd pump so I can keep one at work and not worry about lugging it back and forth.

@kosmo86 I feel dumb for asking this, but I'm confused about how the Amazon welcome box works. Do I actually have to buy off my own registry to get it? It says to complete the checklist, but then when I click on the checklist it's not very user friendly. I've had like 20 purchases off my registry from other people. Do those not count?
@kosmo86 when I got mine from Edgepark last pregnancy it literally arrived NEXT DAY. I didn't realize that they're located like, really close to us so I was like, SO impressed with them. Still impressed, but on a lesser level.
I'm WFH today since DS is still boogery and gross. I came in my room to jump on a call and laid on my bed and now I'm like, afraid to try to get off my back because I can just tell it's going to hurt.
@rennie1108 they should count but you have to complete the checklist for it to work. Which is annoying and some stuff doesn’t count in the category you think it will. You can delete the extra stuff after they ship the welcome box though.
Eta: I agree the checklist is not user friendly at all.

Today is DH’s birthday. We don’t get each other presents anymore for any occasion, aside from Christmas stockings. So it’s always nice avoiding the stress of gift buying for him. I did keep up with his usual birthday tradition of a balloon, a birthday card and a homemade cake. I’m actually super nervous for this cake, it’s a new recipe. About to go in the oven!
@rennie1108 - I find it easier to see on the computer than the app but you have to complete all the categories in the checklist and have a purchase of at least $10 (I don't think you have to make the purchase). I believe you can also check off categories you don't need and edit items that go in a different category to help. I deleted things once it said I fulfilled the things needed to get the box.
