@lilpotatomama when I lived in Canada I used to go to Ikea just to stock up on Swedish food so I could cover my cravings for the different holidays and baking needs.
I love Ikea, their meatballs, and even assembling their furniture. I think DH is planning on ordering all the furniture online, so I won’t get meatballs this time
My cat is laying on my stomach and the baby is kicking hard. He is very confused and keeps looking around to figure out wtf is going on under him. This is great lol.
I’m currently listening to my DH put DD to bed. She’s saying she can’t wait to meet the best baby brother in the whole world. Cue tears because of cuteness.
@lin0442 Thats hilarious. My cat has been laying on my stomach every chance he gets for months and I keep waiting for him to have that reaction. So far he just ignores getting kicked. He’s no fun.

Just curious if people are carrying baby high or low? My LO is so low she is usually kicking me in the crotch or lower belly and I have only felt her kick above my belly button a handful of times. Any other bikini line babies out there or are yours constantly up in your ribcage?
Why didn’t anyone tell me how AWFUL stuffing a duvet is? in other news, bed is all pretty now! Completely new pillows, throws, duvet, duvet cover, etc. It’s been 3+ years of the same, so I’m excited for a change. We are spray painting an old bed frame tomorrow and will hopefully have that set up next week. It’ll look so much better than our current headboard - y’all can’t see the cat scratches from here, but it’s bad. Fabric headboards and cats don’t mix. Also FFTC I still love stuffed animals.
Someone explain to me how DD is still functional at 10 pm after napping from 12:45-1 pm. Or why DH is throwing a YouTube “papa party” and feeding her second dinner instead of turning off the lights/sound and putting her into bed. I’m so exhausted and finished none of the things that needed focus today.
Also, @lilpotatomama, I firmly believe there should be standardized buttons/loops in the corners of duvets and duvet covers to keep them snuggled up to the seams. I’ve seriously considered putting them into the duvet covers I have on regular rotation.
@lilpotatomama I always make my husband help me stuff the duvet. We have a king bed and it’s really a 2 person job. However, it’s so worth it. I’ll never sleep with a different kind of bed cover. We’ve had our duvet for nearly 10 years now and it’s still in great shape, easy to wash, and perfect warmth. Plus we can just switch the cover when we want a new look for the bedroom. I’m thinking of splurging on a linen cover at some point...
In addition to ridiculous heartburn, i cannot freaking breathe tonight you guys - I was panting trying to read my son’s bedtime stories. I think my husband is getting tired of me complaining about how crappy I feel. But whatever, he’s not the one growing a baby so screw that.
@lyse01 I’ll more than likely put some in, this is kind of a tester round for us! I really didn’t realize that it could be a lot of work. @professormama I had NO idea how much work it would be. I nearly ended up crying in a heap on the floor until I remembered YouTube exists. It only took me 10 minutes after I watched a video. In the future I’ll rope DH into helping me, but this was part of his birthday surprise. He knows I bought furniture today, but has no idea that I also bought stuff for us too.
@suchagoodone, my LO definitely kicks low. Usually I feel him in my crotch/pubic area or like he's kicking into my cervix. Today he's been kicking around my belly button though.
@gollygeeitsamy, that's freaking adorable. My son says he'll run in his room and lock the door when baby brother gets here .
@lilpotatomama, I have a stuffed frog that I got from a yard sale when I was like 10... I still sleep with it every night and took her to college with me too.
@lyse01, because children are gremlins and only get more hyper, not less . Also, I'm convinced that a man thing. DH winds up our son before bedtime all.the.time. And lets him prolong bedtime by eating late.
@professormama, ugh, I'm sorry! I've joined the "can't breathe to tie my shoes," and acid reflux club also. It's no fun. Also, I would say the same thing to my DH if he dared to comment on me being whiny. Actually, I think I smacked him for it yesterday....
I’m going to nut punch my DH. Food is not something to pick fights with me about right now. Like if I mentioned it as a dinner possibility then I CAN eat it and all I want is a damn opinion on which sounds better. Ugh.
He’s super picky but thinks I’m the picky one. No dude. You are the one who all of a sudden decided they no longer like salmon. Wtf?!?!

@kangstadt lol my husband is smart enough not to say he’s annoyed with my whining. It’s just his attitude / tone of voice tonight that’s giving me the sense. Although I might also just be over sensitive.
@lilpotatomama Bedding looks great! I tell DH that IKEA is my happy place haha - then I make him help with the duvet covers 😜. We are actually a 2 twin duvets on a king sized bed couple and I think it has saved our marriage. @professormama a king sized duvet definitely sounds like at least a 2 person job, I would be calling the neighbours for reinforcements as well! For some reason I always need to be standing ON the bed while we change the duvet covers. Maybe I think gravity will be stronger and help me more from up there?
@suchagoodone baby is definitely sitting low for me as well. Glad not to be dealing with any ribcage situations like some have described.
@thatbaintforbetty My SO is super picky as well and changes his mind all the time about what he likes/dislikes. 🙄 One day he’ll say he loves something and the next day he hates it and I’m supposed to psychically just know.
@suchagoodone I've got one baby sitting low pushing on my cervix like @kangstadt (I think it feels like getting a pap smear some days!) and then baby twin 2 is sitting higher up, boreing into my lungs and ribs... The best of two worlds?! 😂

SAME. Baby A’s head so low they have to crush my pubic bone to get measurements and Baby B’s (that’s our Isaac, is your Isaak ((did I spell that right)) your up high babe?) is transverse across my ribs. These A19 twin boys, I swear haha
I have my annual review today, but my doctor called me in for a nurse's visit because I was having some weird vision things yesterday. DS woke up crying because he had so many boogers. So I have Nose Frieda'd, worked from home for an hour, and now I get to rush from dropping him at DC, get to this nurse's visit, and try to make it to work in time for my two big meetings today. HAPPY WEDNESDAY EVERYONE.
I haven't been to IKEA either and my friends keep telling me I'm crazy and need to go. I just fear that I'll buy way too much stuff that I don't need. I agree that I should go check it out though. I feel like we have been slacking in the getting ready for baby department. I still need to order another breastpump and we are no where near complete with digging the baby stuff out of the basement. Maybe all that starts up on Saturday for our at home project instead of washing the walls before we paint. Too many things to do.
Baby is sitting low for me too. I keep feeling movements down low which I am assuming are arms/hands because they feel so different from the kicks in the middle of my belly. Helps me to know that baby still seems to be head down, that's my biggest fear is that he/she flips on me like DD did.
@harveyisaboysname theres a DQ on my way home from work and I always think about stopping there, end up talking myself out of it, and regretting it by the time I get home hahaha
@harveyisaboysname and @snowhite12 I’ve been buying four packs of DQ cupcakes and keeping them in the freezer. In fact, DH bought me a DQ GC for Christmas. It’s bad.
My girls and I have all had the same cold for a few weeks now. It's an annoying hacking cough and a bit of a runny nose. We are all alive and well. I got the dreaded text from H yesterday that he is feeling sick. I come home to him laid out on the couch under a blanket, all the curtains drawn, lights off. I do pick up and drop off for the kids, the least you could do is help me get them out of the car and open the door for us. Then all evening he's whispering and moaning and groaning. He never gets sympathy from me so I don't know why he even tries. Then he gets up and makes himself some soup!! Uuhh...you have a pregnant wife and kids (who have the same harmless cold as you), do you not think we'd like some dinner too?? He laid back down on the couch, my kids were on the love seat and I'm left trying to sit on the ottoman. I called him out and said if he's so sick he needs to go up to bed because he's not helping me anyways and he smartened up a bit after that, at least the whispering stopped.
Men. I swear.

@honey_suckle I like to grab a bag of the frozen meatballs, gravy packets and the lingonberry jam. I also bought maybe 9 of the lingonberry juice boxes. I love them!
@mermaidca Ah, the dreaded Man Cold. I hope he comes back from what is *clearly* the brink of death soon.
@snowhite12 Passing up ice cream daily is tough! Especially DQ. There’s an ice cream parlor right beside my train stop and I’m so glad they’re a little pricey or I’d stop in there too often.
Wow, I didn't check TB for one day and I missed a lot😅😅 I got so much done yesterday!! Met my new Midwife (love her) did my glucose test, signed contracts and put a deposit down on our new apartment, ordered a crib and breast pump and pinned down a moving date!! Things finally feel like they are moving along and I'm so excited to get into our new place and get my nesting on!!! Oh! Only 2 more weeks til DH will be home for a break from his work trip. Can't wait to have him back for a bit.
@lyse01 thank you, that's so kind!! I was super worried I wouldn't be able to do all this on my own, but it's kind of been weirdly empowering? Like, I'm alone and pregnant with my first and I can still manage to rearrange our lives?? We women are so freaking cool!!!
Just curious if people are carrying baby high or low? My LO is so low she is usually kicking me in the crotch or lower belly and I have only felt her kick above my belly button a handful of times. Any other bikini line babies out there or are yours constantly up in your ribcage?
It's funny because it looks like I'm carrying low, but most of the movement I feel is up a bit higher - not rib cage high but belly button high. And all on the sides. I'm pretty sure this baby is just completely stretched out sideways, kicking and punching on both sides.
@lilpotatomama Love the duvet! And yes, they are a HUGE pain. We have a king size bed, and sometimes getting the duvet back on is harder than a puzzle. Your cat is adorable, too!
I just called perinatalogy since they handle my GD and I’m almost out of syringes. She was like I’ll put in a 90 day supply and that should get you through to the end. I was like the end?!?!
Yea, the end of the pregnancy.

This honestly isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Still have two draws left, still very hungry, but thankfully I’m at my hospital’s lab, which is super quiet, comfy and spacious. And I have WiFi and my iPad AND a chick fill a downstairs for when I’m done. Trying to be positive!
@rennie1108 thanks! I do look forward to seeing DH try to stuff it next time, haha.
@kangstadt I have a stuffed pig from ikea I sleep with! The pig on the bed was a present from DH for my birthday last year. I also have some mini plushies that are tastefully displayed on a shelf on the wall. 🙈 I collect them on vacations. My favorite is a little mini whale shark from the Osaka aquarium. I think I have a problem.
@MRDCle We haven't actually used the names for the babies yet, but in my head twin 1 (sitting low) is Isak and twin 2 (in the ribs) is Alvin. I think that's mostly based on the order in which we came up with the names.
@lilpotatomama I love lingonberry jam! Speaking of Swedish jams at Ikea, you should try having the cloudberry jam warm with some vanilla ice cream 😋🍧 soo good!
Also I just came back from the doctor and am now officially on sick leave 😔 at first we discussed me just slowing down to working 50% but then she got concerned about me having contractions often and measured my cervix. It turned out that there's starting to be a small gap, so I am to be on leave 100% and just rest so that I don't risk the babies coming early. Part of me felt good about the thought of resting until the babies come, but part of me feels like I'm ruining my academic career and there is so much that I should get done this spring with getting publications done and grant applications sent in. I feel like I'm letting my colleagues down if I don't do all these things but I also want to do what's best for the babies. 😢 So much tears and anxiety now.
@honey_suckle don't worry about career/work right now. Worry about keeping you and the babes healthy. Grant applications can wait. I'm sure it's hella stressful, but you're doing the right thing for your family and that's what's important right now. Big hugs.
@honey_suckle mega hugs. Is DH around/can he come home from work early?
Preemie life is haaaaard and you will be much better equipped to not ruin your academic career by keeping the babies in now than by half-assing everything when they’re out of the NICU and you’re spending several days a week on follow up appointments. Although I’ll say that for me, resting (in the hospital) didn’t mean I didn’t do some level of work, just that anything I DID accomplish was over and above expectations.
I've never been to an Ikea store and now I feel like I'm really missing out. Closest one to me is at least 1.5 hours away though. Also, I really want some soft serve ice cream now.
@honey_suckle Hugs! I'm sorry you're in that position, but just remember you're doing what's best for you and your babies.
@chrissdee there are three Ikeas equidistant from our house. 2.5 hours in each direction (except north which would just be into a lake). So I never have the motivation to make a 5 hour round trip.
