I used Aeroflow for my pump, finally got it last week after a few hoops from an insurance switch. I need to google some casserole ideas that I can freeze to prep for this LO, I keep forgetting and this thread just reminded me.
Omg. My coworker in the cubicle next to mine came in sick today. Literally made it 45 min before throwing up. Thankfully he left to go to the doctors but I’m going to be super pissed if I end up sick. I have already Lysol’d the whole area.
If you are that sick stay the eff home.

I second the Amazon box being worth it if you have the time.
@thatbaintforbetty, ew, fingers crossed he didn't spread any germs your way!
AFM... I have my 18 month old nephew all day today, and my sister is "potty training," him (i.e, sticking him on the toilet when he starts grunting and clearly pooping). I'm pretty sure she expects me to do this as well. Uhh, I did not sign up to potty train an 18 month old while 7 months pregnant. .
@kangstadt Potty training at 18 months! Holy hell. Maybe that's my UO, but I feel like most kids (especially boys) aren't ready that early! But what the hell do I know
@rennie1108 and @mermaidca, I definitely agree that my nephew probably won't be potty trained just from a few times catching him when he's clearly pooping, but -shrug-. I can see the appeal of getting out of diapers as soon as possible, haha. I don't think we started potty training DS until he was 2? 2 1/2? And I think it only worked because it was summertime (cue naked baby running around) and we used cloth diapers and he was tired of feeling wet.
Oh what a day...last night around 9 pm I got a phone call from a police officer stating my fiancé had been in a car accident and was unconscious/unresponsive in the back of an ambulance and on the way to university hospital. Anyways, fast forward until 3 am we’re finally discharged and he’s mostly okay. He’s got a concussion but all CT scans were negative. Awesome! Well this morning we go to get his car from the accident scene and it’s not there. 3 hours later still no car and the police department has no record of it being towed. Ughhh! We finally ended up having to file a stolen police report and now we sit and wait. But, in the meantime my transmission on my car that was just replaced back in November starts acting up and now my car will need to be in the shop for a few days. When it rains, it freaking pours!
Geeze, that got long. Overall I’m super glad SO is okay and everything else will work out.
Oh my goodness @kyashley1227!!! I'm so glad your fiance is ok. That must have been a very scary phone call. And someone stole the crashed vehicle!? What!? I'd be pretty cranky with the cops on that one!! Sorry to hear about your car as well. What a mess. At least everyone is physically ok, things can be replaced.

@kyashley1227 omg. That’s really scary. I’m glad your fiancé is okay. My SO got in a car accident last year around this time and totaled his car. He was fine, but I was so scared 😱
@kyashley1227, yikes! So glad he's okay at least. I'm terrified I'm gonna get in an accident this winter because I have crap tires for the snow. I can't believe someone stole the crashed car!
Omg, @kyashley1227 - I’m so glad everyone is okay and I hope the cars get sorted out quickly! Hopefully it’s just someone calling a local tow service instead of actually stealing.
@kyashley1227 - yikes! thats crazy! Try calling all the tow companies in the area. Someone might have called it in but not recorded it.
18 months seems way to early for potty training. DD will be 2.5 next month and still isn't ready. I try every day. We have a potty and potty books and we talk about it all the time but she keeps telling me she would rather be in diapers. A few of the LOs from my first BMB have potty trained but not many. I really want her out of diapers before this one comes but from everything I have been told/read forcing them before their ready just makes it take longer and with more regression.

@kosmo86 Definitely. My girls were over 3 when they started to care. We had all the books, fancy new panties, little potties, potty seats, stickers, candy...you name it. I tried and they just could not be bothered. It made them more upset than anything. Once they were ready it was super easy with very few accidents.

@mermaidca - thats what I am hoping for. She shows some vague interest and it doesn't upset her so I feel like we are close. She will sit on it occasionally (but I don't push) and she loves to flush to toilet but no luck in actually using it. I ask her if she wants panties or diapers she firmly says diapers

@kyashley1227 wow, how scary. Glad everything is okay, stolen car aside.
Maybe I should be putting this in the FFFC thread, but I've basically eaten nothing but cookies today. I'm talking like 1.5 sleeves of thin mints, and literally no other food than a bowl of cereal this morning. In my defense, I tried to go get chick-fil-a at lunch time but the line was too long. I'm just swamped at work today and cookies was the only food i had in my office.
Boo-urns. Think I might be headed to my doc. **TW** I noticed some spotting just now after peeing. It wasn't much at all but still makes me nervous. I can't see down there anymore, so I think after I pick up my girls I'll head home and try to take a look (with a complex configuration of mirrors, I imagine). I'd hate to go in and it be something like an ingrown hair bleeding or weird chaffing because all underwear is uncomfortable at this point or something.

@mermaidca I’m keeping my fingers and legs crossed for you! I had blood on my panties last week and nearly rushed straight to the hospital until I took out my phone and saw a bad ingrown hair.
I spent all day in labor delivery today for a simple rhogam shot. A lady walked in the same time as me needing a steroid shot so the admitting nurse got things mixed up between her and I. My dr wasn’t answering the phone so I had to sit and wait and wait and wait until they got confirmation on the actual medication to administer. At least I got to meet the nurses who all seemed fabulous! Enjoy my stretched mark belly from my first pregnancy
Im so freaking exhausted tonight, and I’ve got a killer back ache. However, I also have a bunch of meetings tomorrow, for which I’m unprepared, and a huge grant proposal due Monday, for which I’m also unprepared. I’ve got hot plans to have a half glass of wine and keep on working once my kiddo falls asleep. I keep thinking “after I get xyz done I won’t be stressed anymore”. But it’s such a lie. The second I get this grant proposal in, im going to start feeling pressure to finish my damn book proposal. And of course, once I finish that, im going to be stressed about finishing the book. It’s never ending and largely self imposed. Stress is totally healthy for pregnant women... right?
Thanks ladies! Still no word on the car, SO is about to lose it. We called every tow company in the city that popped up on google and no one seems to have it. It’s just the weirdest thing!
@mermaidca thinking of you! Hope everything turned out to be okay!
@kyashley1227 I'm glad he's ok! That's really scary! @mermaidca I hope everything is ok with you and LO! Keep us posted. @harveyisaboysname do they normally have to hook you up to a fetal monitor to do a rhogam shot?? I'm RH+ so I have no clue how that works, but glad you got it sorted out eventually!
@kyashley1227: OMG what a harrowing night! I'm glad your SO is okay, but so sorry for the scary couple of hours you must have had! I can't even imagine. And I hope things work out with the car. Was it insured?
@mermaidca: Thinking of you! I hope no news is good news.
@professormama: I'm supposed to be applying for a fellowship right now, but my brain has been in a fog all week. I have like 2 productive hours in the morning when DD is at school, and then it's game over. I also hate that half the work is inventing an alternate reason why I need the money besides childcare. Academia is the worst - I already got rejected from one position because I'm pregnant.
ETA: @honey_suckle, I just saw your posts! I didn't realize you were in academia, too. I'm sorry it's stressful, but I'm so glad you've got a boss who has their priorities in order and is letting you have yours, too. That can definitely be lacking in this line of work.
@sheknows6 I’m not sure if it’s necessary for the shot or it’s just because hospital policy. My dr doesn’t carry the shot so she has sent me to L&D every time I’ve needed it and I’ve always been hooked up to the fetal monitor each time.
DH and DD are having taquitos for dinner and DD is treating them like crab legs. As in crack them open and eat the meat out. It’s equal parts annoying and fascinating.
Kids are so weird.

@harveyisaboysname: Weird! I just get the rhogam like any ordinary shot (well, not the placement, but it's administered by one of the OB's assistants after he sees me.) Sorry you have to go through so much extra hassle.
Looked at an apartment today and I’m starting to feel like we’re not going to find a place before this baby gets here 😕 It makes me depressed. I was really hopeful about this one.
@TheSouffleGirl aww I’m so sorry. Academia really is crazy tough and rejection is pretty much a fact of academic life. On twitter I’ve been seeing “Rejection CVs” or “Failure CVs” where people just list all their failures. It honestly makes me feel better to remember it’s part of the job and not personal. But it can still be really brutal. I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed for you. One thing that helps me maximize time is advanced planning - tomorrow I’ll do these 3 specific tasks - so when I do have a clear-headed hour, at least I know what to tackle first.
@mermaidca I hope the spotting wasn't anything serious!
@professormama@TheSouffleGirl uggh academia. I love it and I hate it at the same time, but I'm really impressed you guys can deal with it in combination with pregnancy and kids over there. The North American system just completely wiped me out (did my PhD in Canada) and so happy to be working back in Sweden now where it's more chill (most people work 9-5 and no weekends in the lab, 5 weeks vacation) and better safety net for early career academics (paid parental leave unemployment insurance). Still, the pressure to publish or perish is always there, and the feeling of not doing enough even if you work full time. I'm in biology, which fields are you guys in?
Well tonight went to shit. TW pet death in spoilers.
About 30 minutes after I went to bed I heard our dog breathing really loudly. I got up and tried to get her to drink water but she wouldn’t. I could hear her heart beating just sitting with her. She had an accident in the hall and went back into our room where she kept soiling herself. Shortly after her back legs gave out and I woke up DH because I could tell it was the end. He seems pissed but when he looked over the edge I saw his face shift. He knew it was the end too. She passed seconds after he came to her. He’s heartbroken. I have no idea how to tell DS. It’s been over two hours and DH and I are just sitting on the couch. I’ve finally stopped crying but I can’t bring myself to go to bed.
@MRDCle oh no, I'm so sorry for you and your family 😢 that's a lot to deal with while also being pregnant. I hope you and DH can support each other and find a way to grieve and remember your dog together with your son. ❤️🐶 Big hugs!
@mermaidca I had an ingrown hair that I busted loose two days ago and it still chafes...but fortunately isn’t spotting. Hope it’s just something annoying.
As for me, DH deserves sainthood for dealing with FIL’s dementia this morning. It’s heartbreaking. I’m going to need to do everything in my power today to treat him.
@honey_suckle@TheSouffleGirl since this is a public forum I’ll leave it vague and just say I’m in the social sciences. All things considered I feel like I don’t have it toooooo bad. I’m teaching 2 classes online this semester so I can have everything set up before baby arrives and don’t need to go in at all after - I’ll just have to finish grading. Then I plan to take the summer off. I already stretch my salary over 12 months and usually use the summer for research, so that’s fine. And I’m especially lucky that my husband gets paid paternity leave through his job so he will take almost the entire fall off.
