@MrsDho11 I'm team green but this entire pregnancy when people ask if I know the sex and I say "no", they always respond with "oh well it doesn't matter anyway because you already have one of each". Um, sure. I always feel like making them really uncomfortable and telling them after 6 years of trying and 3 dead babies I couldn't give two shits if this baby has a penis or vagina. Hasn't popped out of my mouth yet but it just might at some point.
Completely this! When we first started TTC, we each had a preference, but after all we went through, we’re just happy I’m finally pregnant and the pregnancy took!
@rooonilwaazlib I got something similar... "Are you smuggling a pumpkin under there?!" ha. ha. ha.
I also went to a work bowling thing a couple weeks ago. FOUR different people: "looks like you brought your own bowling ball" LOL SO ORIGINAL you should go into comedy. Come up with some new material, people.
@furmama1986 Ugh, why do these coworkers think these are helpful or appropriate comments? I got something similar today too "looks like you're moving much slower these days and your gait is changing, is the baby putting pressure on you?" I was like, "um, no I'm fine?" I don't know what she was talking about. This one coworker comments something about my size or body every single day when I walk by so I've been trying to avoid her office.
@merostomata I do not understand the culture of colleague/workplace comments on pregnancy. My big boss (everyone's boss) recently said to me LOUDLY at the end of a meeting "Heyyyy, lookin good!" as she Vanna-White-style waved her hand up and down in front of my body, patted my stomach, and winked.
Oh and this was two days after a sexual harassment and appropriate workplace conversation training....that she was a featured speaker at. I do not lie!

My dad and I were talking about DD and some of the more challenging things she does (my parents are taking care of her when DH is at work) and he says to me "How are you going to take care of TWO kids?" He says this to me all the time, and before I was pregnant he would frequently tell me why I should only have one kid, knowing we wanted two. Yes, DD can be a challenge, she's a sensory-seeking two year old, but the constant doubt that I can handle 2 kids is frustrating. I'm sure it will be hard but we will figure it out.
@wnn1992 That's super weird they'd just assume when you're due! I feel like most people don't have a good grasp of what an average full term pregnant woman actually looks like?

This! My male coworker asked behind closed doors after a mtg if he could touch my belly when I was pregnant w DD. I thought it was the strangest ask and totally inappropriate. He has two kids at home too. We just went over workplace harassment training. Some people just don’t ever get it.
I'm trying to figure out my 2019 benefits and if I go on leave in December, I'm stuck with my old plan until I return from leave. They are offering a lower deductible and a hospital indemnity plan, which covers pregnancy. But I'll have to at least work until Jan 2nd to get these new benefits. I'm due Jan 9 and California allows 4 weeks before your due date...my SO is just like easy, work until Jan 2. Mind you, every weekend is booked until January so I have no time to get ready for baby and we have done absolutely zero so far. I'm already so annoyed and losing my shit at work. Anyways, all my co-workers keep saying 'you know what causes that right?' while pointing at my stomach. Yes, I f*cking know how I got pregnant, you expect me to never have sex? You think safety plans never fail? You think this system is fair that I have to stress about all of this just because I got pregnant. F all of them. I'm so annoyed. Sorry for the massive vent.

I’ve gotten this a few times from family, and it’s so frustrating. In part because I’ve been having serious freak out moments of doubt about this too, and like, I don’t need people to pile on about it!

because I love to share hilarious "my sister is a B" stories: yesterday, she brings her 4wk old to my house for me to watch while she takes other two kids(4 and 2) to a Halloween event. 1) she says "oh I forgot you were pregnant, I was gonna say, you've gained some weight!" (she saw me 2 weeks ago); 2) I was showing her my umbilical hernia and how much it sticks out and she pressed on the bottom half of my bump and and said "it's not as hard as mine was"... for starters, it was harder above that as I guess that's where baby was chillin', and secondly, I have some extra fat so yeah it has a nice little layer of padding too, ya B.
This isn't exactly a say what but i think it fits. Rant ahead.
DH and I went to visit his family this weekend since they live several hours away and we probably won't be able to make the trip again until well after LO is here. In-laws threw us a surprise baby shower, but it was nice even though there were people I've never seen before. *MIL hollered at me for moving a chair...and then hollered at DH for not moving the chair for me even though he was helping his grandma with something. *MIL and older relatives were shocked I am still working at 30 weeks and that I plan to work up until our due date. *MIL congratulated me for staying awake through the party... I guess I just look exhausted or something. *After the party was over and DH had loaded up our car with gifts and such, FIL took it upon himself to rearrange our whole car and then called us hardheaded (walked out of earshot and couldn't hear the rest of the mumbling) for not accepting help.
I know they're trying to help but it's pretty aggravating.
@haycole ugh, MIL keeps insisting that she or FIL do things for me that i absolutely can do on my own and there’s no reason I shouldn’t. Like moving things that are lighter than DD... or the weights I still use in exercise class...

One of our admins is a really sweet older lady, but every time I talk to her or walk past her lately she gets this tone and facial expression like she feels so bad for me. I mean, my hips ache and I'm hobbling a little bit, but I'm not dying here. The sympathy seems a little excessive. I have to keep reminding myself that at least she means well.
Older male co-worker told my DH that he saw me in the break room and he is putting money down that the baby is a boy because I am "carrying low" (DH and I work and the same office and we are team green)
Other male co-worker yelled at me from down the hall "that's quite the bump you have going there"
I would really love it if the men at my office would stop making it their daily routine to size up my body and then make commentary accordingly. k thanks.
We had luncheon at work today for someone who’s retiring. I absentmindedly put my hand on my belly while I was waiting in line for food. A male coworker said, “Whoa, girl! Are you okay? Is something happening with the baby?”

“You’re glowing!” Honestly WTF does this mean? I’m smiling and happy, but 99% of the time I am sure the glow is actually sweat thanks to the furnace I’m growing inside my belly, but people negate this when I say it sooooo “um...thank you Susan for putting a positive spin on my perspiration!”

We were at early voting earlier this week (go vote!!) and a couple of the check in people (both women) were asking me about my pregnancy. Then one of them said “it’s a boy” like a fact. I said “actually, it’s a girl” and she gave me this look like she didn’t believe me and I was lying and was like “sure doesn’t look like it”. Because obviously you can tell a baby’s sex by looking at the mom.
@mrsmang in their defense, did you have anything protruding from your belly that looked like a penis?

YES! Anytime I put my hand on my stomach, people at work freak out. And what's worse, then they playfully scold me FOR freaking them out. Like, dude - your ridiculous overreaction is not my problem, and I am not the drama queen in this fairy tale.
@CEBB11@saltedcaramel518 Same! I find I put my hand to my belly without thinking, most times. Or like today when I'm trying to encourage baby's foot out of my ribcage!

rooonilwaazlib yea like most everything in the entire world? Understanding what an impact folic acid has on development, prenatal vitamins being standard, and like every other aspect of standard medical care lol. I'm 33 and my mom's hospital didn't do epidurals.
So, my sister had her engagement party this weekend. Her fiance's dad is a loud-mouth. He was telling me at the beginning of the evening that he thought my middle sister was the oldest and that I was younger than her because I look younger. Ok, whatever. Then a couple of hours later we are up from the table and chatting and he is beside me. As he walks away into the other room, he loudly announces to the entire (quiet) room "Oh no, I can see your double chin now....you look older". I laughed and said it was my "pregnancy chin". That man is so lucky that I: 1. Have an amazing sense of humour 2. Am not easily offended, and 3. Am fully aware of how fat I've gotten in the last 8 months.
It was more awkward than anything because I heard the gasps of a few people in the room and I could tell it just made everyone uncomfortable. His comment really didn't bother me because of the type of person he is and, like I said, I'm not super sensitive to that stuff, but dude, you're really taking your life into your own hands criticizing a pregnant woman's body like that....

@tosh24 oh you have GOT to be kidding me. You are a better person than I am. I will cut someone if they talk about my weight gain lol...only I am allowed to make fun of that.
Took my kids on a walk around the neighborhood today, and this older gentleman stands in his yard watching us and asks me the usual questions (3 boys? Are they triplets? I get these literally multiple times a day when out with my kids, so eye roll but whatever.) But then he actually says “Oof, probably better be done then!” Realizing he didn’t see my belly behind the stroller I stepped just a little to the side and tucked my hand under it so it was even more obvious and just smiled “Almost- one more boy.” His eyes got all big and he walked away shaking his head.
I ordered this dress for my baby shower, but they were out of the size that would be my go-to so I ordered one size down risky, I know (I have a backup). My sister is 5 weeks behind me and started a lot smaller, so I sent her a pic saying that it's coming her way if it doesn't fit me (you're welcome).
She said she hopes I don't look like the Pillsbury doughboy thanks girl
(Backstory - not attempting a humble brag, I’m obese so my weight gain requirements are different).

Got a haircut today; the lady said, "Oh, you're having a boy!" I said, "No, the theory is a girl." She said, "Nope, your belly is more pointy, so it'll be a boy." Omg, whatever. Clearly your pseudoscience is more accurate than actual science... Then she asked who my OB is, and I said I went with a midwife... She then proceeds to tell me why a midwife is a horrible idea and how they don't know what they're doing. Argh. This was supposed to be my one relaxing outing this week, and all she did was irritate the f*ck out of me.

Sorry I’m stuck in a quote box!
People like that drive me nuts! I generally completely stop biting my tongue and let loose on them. I am very well-researched and fairly good at debating, so I use irrefutable logic and evidence for why I’m doing things the way I am, and for good measure throw in the reasons and evidence for why their way ow so much worse.
Normally I’m much kinder and accepting than that when talking with other moms about birthing and such; there really is no one right way. But when someone tries to be a condescending know-it-all, I figure they deserve what I unleash on them. 😈
@libertymomrn Totally agree. I just wanted my one relaxing hour, know what I mean? And it seems that the less educated a person is, the more stubborn opinions that person has. She just struck me as someone with very little knowledge of the world past her nose, and it was all very hopeless. My patience is definitely paper thin. The lady at the TSC store made that effing, "Maybe it's a New Year's baby!" comment and I just had to take a breath and try not to give a super snarky response to the well meaning person. She can't possibly know that's the thousandth time I've heard that comment.
Finally a positive comment today! A coworker told me I don’t look big enough to have a baby due in January- after being told I look huge this entire pregnancy I took it as a compliment! And I’m never taking off this shirt...
