Re: Randoms for the Week of 10/22

  • @runyogamom girl, nip the MIL issue now. It will only get worse. My MIL is so unbelievably inappropriate and out of control that we had to tell her she wasnt allowed to visit anymore without my FIL. That way he could control the crazy when she is around. I don't allow her to do what she wants with the kids and she can't stand it.

DD2's temp finally broke but now she is covered in a rash. So I guess she had Roseola. I'm just glad it's over because she is getting 3 teeth too and this week has been rough enough.

  • @runyogamom thanks for not making me seem crazy! The reason I said unreasonable is because I have met her once and been in that hospital once but being told I couldn’t have it felt like telling me I had to decide which of my dogs to get rid of!
  • @emeraldcity603 thanks for the commiseration. Funny, we also prefer when my FIL is with MIL because he keeps her in check too.

I have dutch apple pie waiting for me at home tonight. I've decided whether my stomach feels good or not I'm eating a small slice. I'm probably going to regret it. But I want it so bad. Anyone ever heard of Der Dutchman? I'm not sure if there they are in more states besides Ohio but they have the best pie.
  • I had my dermatologist appointment yesterday. I try to get in on a sort of regular basis to have moles checked. I was sort of shocked that she wanted to remove 2 to send to the lab, one that she said she was extra concerned about. So now I have to wait for those results and add it to my list of things to be anxious about. Skin cancer can actually travel through the placenta. I am sure its fine and even if not was probably caught early.
  • MIL brought dinner last night. I was dreading it but it went pretty well and they respected our request to be gone by 7 (was discussed before we okayed the plans to even happen). So since her bday is this weekend she also brought cake. She left leftover dinner but TOOK ALL THE CAKE! She did buy us chocolate covered brownie pops but I've been getting migraines from chocolate. Dammit, I want the cake!
  • Fingers crossed for good results @jmvander

Dang @prpl11butterfly, she could have at least left a slice or two!
  • Any baseball fans here? I know I saw a bunch of MA ladies. Is anyone watching this game?? I want to go to bed so badly, but I also want to see the end!

  • @KissMeImScottish I don't follow but love when we win! My FB feed is blown up with posts from the game and I am just in shock at how crazy it was. Even if I wanted to watch, there is NO WAY I would have made it to the end. I can barely stay awake until 930 right now 😂
  • FFSC: I am not a sports fan of any kind. In fact, if my husband had been a football fan when we met I wouldn't have married him. The sports I like are the ones my kids are playing in.
  • @prpl11butterfly, I know, right?? I am a fan, but that game last night was nuts! I made it to the 13th and then had to call it quits. Glad I did because they went 18!! No one can say both teams didn’t fight for it! I’m paying for staying up so late now, though, haha. And I’ll probably do it again tonight - this series is making me into a masochist.

@emeraldcity603, I totally respect that. Baseball is just about the only sport I follow with any sort of interest. My husband will watch football, but not with any sort of intensity or regularity, but growing up (back in the era of cable, one TV households, and no internet connected TVs, haha), my dad would watch the Sox game every night at 7:05. I learned pretty quickly that if I wanted to watch TV at night, I’d better learn to appreciate the game. It kind of became our thing, and it’s stuck with me. I was actually texting him back and forth last night while the game was on.

  • I don’t care for baseball. But my husband is a die hard dodgers fan so he was there last night and will be there tonight!
  • @luckystar28, he was there??? I’m so jealous! I’m obviously a Sox fan, but I have SO much respect for how everyone played last night and the Dodgers definitely earned that win.

  • @KissMeImScottish Yes, he flies down for every major Dodger game lol. His family has season tickets though so it’s easier

@KissMeImScottish I fell asleep at some point. I woke up at 315 to pee and checked the score and was like WTF.

We are huge, huge sports fans. My husband and I are Pats and C’s before the Sox. However my dad has watched basically every Sox game this year. I listen to spots radio daily so I typically know what’s up. I went to a huge SEC school and a state ranked HS so it’s been part of my life for a while.
  • I haven’t been watching any of this series (and I’m honestly surprised DH hasn’t been). But we’re Rockies fans, and there was a game early in the playoffs that lasted well past midnight that DH and I stayed up to watch. I’m not a baseball person, but DH had it on and it was so intense that I couldn’t look away. But it sounds like the Rockies game had nothing on the game last night. Wow.
  • Huge cubs fan here, I broke down when they won the World Series although I can’t seem to fit in any games until post season these days, I love baseball but it is an investment to follow. I feel old now...
  • Add me to the bandwagon of non-sports fans.  DH watches the Cowboys and I will watch that sometimes, but I just can't really get into sports.
  • I know technically we're into the next week now, but had to chime in morning to say Go Sox!!! My husband is from up there (and spent two summers in college interning for the PawSox) so even though I was a lifelong Royals fan I'll call the Sox my backup favorite team. We're VERY much a sports family...I worked in college athletics for 10 years in community relations and fundraising, and he's a power-5 college basketball coach, so our lives basically revolve around basketball (we had a window of when to try to conceive so as to make sure he would actually be in the state when Baby comes, between games and recruiting seasons) but we both love baseball too. So last night was a good night!
  • Boston Sports fan here, too!  Although I'm indifferent about the Celtics.  But gooooo Sox, Pats, and Bruins!

  • Thank God the World Series is over. I can’t take any more late nights. Going to bed at a reasonable hour finally.
  • @ncm1919 Amen!  Although now the Pats game is on tonight at 8:15.  I won't make it until halftime.

  • @ncm1919, ain’t that the truth! I SO need a reasonable bed time and these games have had me so torn between sleep and needing to watch! My husband is even on duty tonight and that means I get the bed to myself - I can’t wait to go to bed at, like, 8:30, haha.
