Re: Oct 2018 FET

  • Just got the call that I’m good to start progesterone tonight!!!

  • @babydust2507... although my fresh cycle was way more stressful and cumbersome than this FET, the 2ww has been hellacious. It is going by so slowly. I spent the first two days after my transfer taking it easy, watching all types of movies and documentaries. Today I took my son to the NC State Fair. My plan was to wear him out but he wore me out with him riding rides from 10am until after 3:30pm. And he’s still awake at this moment going on 11:30 pm 😳 I have been trying everything thing to past time. I hate to say that I wish I didn’t take the week off from work, it would have made time go faster. However, my job can be stressful and I really didn’t want to deal with any of it this week. I tested for three days and don’t have any more test which is good in a way. Hopefully I can hold out POAS again until Sunday/Monday!

  • @babydust2507 - Oh that's sounds painful! And - sheesh - your hubby is all happy now he's involved again?? "le sigh..." Ah well - at least he's excited! I'm actually on crinone - not PIO. PIO doesn't seem to be a thing here in Ireland at all - my doc doesn't use it all. Actually, (sorry about this!) but I've never had to give myself an IM injection - ever my triggers were always sub-cut. I don't know why it's different here - but I'm not complaining! I'm an in somewhat in awe of you ladies that take PIO daily. Crinone is yucky - but it doesn't hurt. But - congrats on getting the first one done <3<3
@Griffin5413  My clinic would be in agreement with @mayflower513 regarding what to expect at that stage - they actually refuse to do the first scan before 7wks because they say the results may not be conclusive (and I remember how upsetting your 6wk scan was back then @mayflower513 - it's so wonderful that it all worked out <3<3). I'm not saying you won't see a h/b - but if you don't - it's not neccessarily the worst news <3
@albrooks11 Yay for a fantastic lining - I've actually never heard of it being too thick??!

  • @albrooks11 Yayyy! You on PIO? Delighted you're getting going now too - next week is gonna be big for many of us (in many ways!) <3
@cscronce I'm sorry - there are so many feckin waiting periods in this process - but the TWW has to be the worst. I'm not even sure what to suggest - personally I love jigsaws but they may not be easy with a little one to mind already!! I've alway that breaking it into 2-3 day chunks is better than dealing with 'every day' - as in - ** has to be done by Monday then by/on Wednesday I'll do ** - it;s kinda like breaking the week into smaller goals (if that makes sense) I hope you find some way to pass the days - don't buy any more tests

  • @roisis I’m actually on crinone
  • I went MIA for a few days...friends came in town to help keep us occupied for a few days if the 2WW. We had a great time! Now it’s back to reality though. I’m 3dp5dt and nothing to report except continued low level cramping. How’s everyone else doing?

@mama2b1974 and @cscronce Are you ladies hanging in there?
    @albrooks11 and @babydust2507 How’s the PIO going?
@roisis I’m also on the vaginal progesterone instead of PIO—such a mess, right?!   How Hobbes adjusting to his new family?
  • @annielmartinez... I am trying to hang in there. I’ve also been having some left side cramping. I haven’t POAS for a few days. My beta is on Monday, October 29th which is my husband’s birthday which can go either way. Also either way we head to the beach on Halloween thru the weekend.

I hope everyone else is doing well in the 2ww. It is dragging 😳

  • Anyone else starting high dose steroids? Yuck!!
  • @albrooks11 @annielmartinez Crinone is messy and kinda awkward - and it can give mild cramps (I called them 'crimpies' last time - cos they just weren't strong enough to be real cramps) which can really mess with your symptom spotting. Also my nurse did warn me last time that it can cause some brown spotting - so don't panic if you see that at a later date. Personally I'd still take it over PIO!! Apparently there's no nice way to get extra progesterone into your system? Matter of interest - does anyone know why that is? Why can't we take progesterone as an oral pill?

Hobbes is settling in nicely (as in he now thinks he runs the house!) We've actually decided that I should not go in for too close contact cuddles at the moment. DH is cleaning out all the waste, but apparently little kitties can get poop stuck to them, so best I stay away. Plus - we got him treated as soon as we fond him, but stray cats can have all manner of little nasties in their system, best to play it safe from my side I believe. In saying that - he is currently sitting on my foot :)

If anyone likes kitty pictures!

  • @roisis
I have a friend who had luteal phase defect due to low progesterone levels and she was given oral progesterone tablets to supplement (she has two kiddos now so it seems to have done the trick!).

Hobbes is adorable! And a great way to keep yourself distracted!

    @albrooks11
Just curious, but are you taking something other than a medrol dosepak?

  • In regards to oral progesterone...it’s awful and to boot your body does not absorb it as well as the PIO or inserts.  They gave me oral progesterone when they did my test cycle. It made me sooooo dizzy. I stopped taking it because I felt it was dangerous. I almost fell coming off the train on my way to work one day. According to my nurse, it’s an extremely common side effect. As much as I hate the PIO...I would take the shots any day over that constant dizzy feeling.
  • @cscronce  Hopefully the 29th gives an amazing gift to your family! The beach sounds like a great place to be post-news.

@roisis That makes sense about avoiding kitty snuggles. Thanks for all the tips about the inserts. It’s so messy and I’m just waiting to get a raging yeast infection from all the extra ‘stuff’ down there.
  • Hey ladies!! Hope you all had a great weekend...or at least better than mine.  This 2ww has been the worst with the lack of cramps and spotting...so yesterday DH suggested (and I could not believe it) to POAS and of course I accepted  :) Both yesterday and today's sticks were as white as it can possibly be.  I know nothing is said until 1st beta tomorrow, but we are prepared now and I feel a lot let anxious, the not knowing was killing me.
  • @mama2b1974 I'm sorry you're not seeing the results you want. As you say - nothing is definite until Beta. I can completely understand POAS for you at this stage - as you say - at least you're prepared and a little calmer (I still have my fingers crossed for you though <3)
Good to know about the oral progesterone - that does not sound nice!! I guess I'll stick with the yucky stuff for now...
Is anyone in to transfer today?? (I thought someone was but not sure now??)

@albrooks11 I finished the high dose ones last week, still on maintenance, sleep gone... hello, insomnia. GL!

@roisis the oral progesterone has to go through first pass metabolism in the liver after it digests in your gut so you get less absorption plus all the nasty side effects mentioned above. I also got super dizzy on it and it made me emotional AF to the point where I was crying at work over stupid things - so miserable. The first clinic I went to told me to just start taking it as a supp but the capsule does not dissolve! Crinone is way better (it gets absorbed where it’s needed) but more expensive which is why some places start with the capsules.
Thanks for the heads up on the brown spotting. I’m also on estrace and was wondering about the brown mixed in with the blue - TMI, I am so sorry!
Btw, there are some good studies on crinone showing better/equivalent outcomes compared to pio depending on age
I hear a good (oral) probiotic will help prevent yeast infections (and keep other things moving)

@mama2b1974 remember your little one has to start producing the hcg. It takes 8-10d after ovulation for implantation so even if you start out with your day 5 emby, it will take at least 7-12 days after FET and even the most sensitive stick won’t detect anything below 25 (which is why they make us wait so long for the blood test!)

Sticky vibes to the upcoming transfers and FX to the upcoming betas and ultrasounds!
  • @autumnlvs Thanks for the explanation - that makes sense. I forgot that crinone can be so expensive, I'm really lucky in that here we have a 'Drugs Payment Scheme' whereby any medication prescribed within 1 calendar month is capped at €134 (in total). Not all drugs are covered under the scheme but Crinone and all of my meds so far have been - it's such a lifesaver when it comes to things like IVF. People give out sh*te about the Irish medical system - and there are terrible parts to it - but this payment scheme is amazing. And yeah - I've always taken a pro-biotic and so far no yeast infections :) (taken it 3 times now...)

I'm having a really weird day. I've this big evening presentation in Dublin that I've known about for months - and I just can't get my head into it! I'm literally sitting in Starbucks onto ye guys now rather than preparing!! FET is tomorrow so my mind is just ''sppppleeeeeeurghghghghrghgghg"!!! The worst part is that I won't get home until after midnight - when all I'd like to do is curl up with DH on the couch and have an early night. I guess it'll be early nights for the rest of the week instead!!
    Right - concentrate!!!!!!

  • Smooth transfer  today. 1 5AA embryo little girl. Went a lot easier than last time  they give me xanax for transfer  day and I just finally  slept it off. I go back on Wednesday  to check progesterone levels  and beta is on Halloween!
  • @sarac986 Congrats on the transfer and glad to hear it all went well! Beta on Halloween surely is a good sign! FX for you
  • @roisis  Wishing you a good nights sleep and all the best for tomorrow!! FX this time is THE time!
  • @roisis... Thinking of you today for an easy and successful transfer. FX for a BFP and take home baby.

@mama2b1974.... I can relate. I’m feeling bummed. Tested yesterday and today (8dp FET) and keep getting BFNs. During my fresh cycle with my son I already had my BFP by now. Trying to maintain hope because I’ve also read that frozen embies can take longer to implant and make hcg, but the more I test and get a BFN it’s gettibg difficult to keep the hope and although it’s bumming me out, you’d think I’ll just stop testing. Of course I can’t. This is one area where I lack self control.

My RE called a couple of hours ago to confirm what I suspected, he did not even gave me a number, he just said it did not happen.  He agreed with us, said we did all we could and he personally could not recommend doing anything else...he still offered to set up time with him to evaluate a new cycle - ? (I didn't get it....guess he was being recorded ;) ).

I will step away for a while, but I will be thinking of you.  You are an amazing group and your support was priceless during this time.  Wish you all the best <3

@sarac986 congrats on being PUPO! FX your levels will be fine - hang in there. and if not, your clinic is doing everything to help you stay PUPO. Those shots do suck but the outcome is so worth it, right?
