@meatballs37, thanks for the commiseration. I’ll let you know what the doctor says about the stains, etc - I’m glad you have the option, even if it means a touch more work for your colleagues, of having someone perform the test in question. Unfortunately, my entire job revolves around these products - there’s no way to avoid, other than wearing gloves and a mask (which I could do). I’m anxious to see what my doctor ends up saying.
Re: telling kiddos, we’re holding off. I’ve mentioned before that my little sister is due in a month (actually, less than a month now. Holy cow, where’s the time gone??), and W (my 3 year old) definitely understands that “Baby I is in Auntie’s belly! Baby I makes auntie so happy!” He’s old enough to understand the concept of a baby in mommy’s belly, but too young to be expected to keep the secret. So, we are being careful to not say anything around him until we’re ready to explain it and ready to tell people. And that won’t be for at least three or four more weeks.

@KissMeImScottish I'm sorry about the job situation, that's got to be tough. Hopefully if your doc says it's not wise, you and employer could find a compromise.
@KissmeImScottish Ah, I really hope your doc says it's ok to continue. As Moms, it's so important to have something for yourself that isn't kid related. If you do have to stop, hopefully it's temporary and they'll let you go back once you've had the baby and are up for it again.
@KissMeImScottish I am in the same exact situation. BOTH of my sister in laws are pregnant! One is due early next month, so we likely won't share with our 3 yr old (who certainly can't keep a secret) until after his cousin is born.
I kind of casually told my 2 year old (25 months) and he ignored me. I think come Christmas time we will buy a book and really try for him to understand then.
Just spoke to just spoke to the doctor. She okayed everything as long as I wear a mask while working with the stain, which shouldn’t be a problem (I’ll just have to tell customers that I’m pregnant, which is why I wear one but they don’t have to). So yay! I’m thrilled about that.
Now to tell my boss, which has my stomach all twisted up in knots...she’s actually a friend from my oldest sons’s BMB and has 4 kids herself, so hopefully, that helps.

I cannot believe how over work I am by Friday. The attrition right now is off the charts. Three people including the COO quit on Wednesday. And the lawyer I work with is leaving...and selfishly I need him to stay.
My boss and and I have our 1x1 every Friday at 3:15p and we are both toast by then. Typically I only let him know if anything is on fire and otherwise we just hang up. This week he moved it to 11 so I have more juice in the tank.
Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? My husband is seeing NIN tonight with a bunch of people so I will be home. I’m having dinner with friends tomorrow so it’s a fair trade off. Our friend is rebuilding our very dangerous stairs on the back porch. We have been renovating a 100 year old house since May and we are OVER IT.
@KissMeImScottish glad you got good news from the doctor! Sounds like you know your boss pretty well, and with her having 4 of her own, sounds like she should take it well.
I'm seriously debating taking a half day off today to go home and nap. I don't have any work that needs done and I'm just over this week. and over being tired. I just hate using up to much of my PTO...so I'm still very undecided.
@runyogamom I'm doing the same - asked my boss if I could leave at 2:00. I'm exhausted and I have a couple errands I have to do. I was hesitant at first because I hate using PTO, but decided screw it. It feels like a good decision
@KissMeImScottish Haha, was about to tell you the same thing! We do some fabrication stuff at work with stains, epoxies, and some other not-so-great substances. Dr told me to get a high-quality HEPA mask and use gloves, rather than have it touch my skin, but as long as I do that, exposure to any of the chemicals in it should be so low as to be filtered out before it could cross the placenta. So glad you get to keep doing what you love!
@runyogamom@ruby696 I've been leaving early almost every day this week using PTO. One more day couldn't hurt, right? This week has been so hard to get through.

A week late but I got my new work laptop! No more 7 year old brick but now I need to learn windows 10. Have not been productive because of that and keep finding programs they didn't install properly.
I'm wearing my belly band for the first time this pregnancy and I cannot get it to stay. One side as the rubber ripper part the the other does not, the rubber side goes on your pants right?
@jhems776 yes, rubber on your pants. Is that the part that's not staying? Sometimes the top half folds over on mine so I'll just fold it down so it's a second layer over my button. But I don't usually have issues with the rubber part.
@prpl11butterfly Both sides are moving. When I move from sitting to standing or vise versa the bottom rides up and my folded down top folds again. I did just use it out of the drawer, so not washed in 2.5 years so maybe just out of shape.
@eleven_@ruby696 I agree! What's one more I think I've settled on leaving two hours early. It's a good compromise for my PTO. Now I just have to make it until 2:00...
I really want to sneak out of work early. I've had a major project that I've been working on for months goes out Monday. Everything has been signed off, tested, release is a go for Monday. Calm before the storm.
Jealous of all you leaving early. Work is DEAD and all my "maintenance" work is caught up. I want to curl up under my desk and nap. I can't so I'll settle for bumping, coke, and combos.
I desperately want to leave work early but I have to safe my PTO (we dont get a whole lot and mine doesnt roll over until the end of august). I also have a ton of work I should be doing but that seems like a drag.
All of these comments about private groups made me look at the view counts and realize how many people are reading this board! So, my new profile picture doesn't have me or my son in it. Which is probably overly cautious, but oh well. We haven't told anyone about this pregnancy yet, so I should probably be a little more careful, at least until we tell our families.
@jhems776 I wore my belly band throughout most of my pregnancy with DS, and started wearing it again a couple weeks ago (buttoned waistbands are uncomfortable!). I can never get mine to stay either, so I feel like I am constantly checking to make sure no one call tell my pants are unbuttoned. I still wear it, but I wish I could figure out how to keep it in place.
@carleym93 We told our son when we found out, but that doesn't mean much, because he is too young to understand! Hopefully, as he becomes more verbal, he'll begin to get it.
I just got home from BooZoo and I'm exhausted. The kids had a blast and we went with a large group so I got some adult time too. I really needed that.
Tonight we are planning to take our teenager out to celebrate his adoption anniversary (My husband adopted him when we got married). I feel like I need to take a nap before we leave or I'm not going to make it.
Hi everyone! I’ve been a member for a long time but not very active. I’m 5 weeks and 6 days with my first pregnancy. I’m 31, a grad student, and a vegan. Just wanted to give a lil info and say hey!! We aren’t telling family until the 2nd trimester since I’m a worry wart but I need an outlet to talk about everything so I’m hoping to post a bit more.
Okay, I'm sorry we're all so tried but also I'm super happy I'm not the only one! My staff are all giving me weird looks because I can't stop yawning. I have no idea how I'm going to keep this pregnancy on the DL for the next few weeks. I can go home on an hour and hopefully convince my kids to quietly watch a movie with me while I sneak a nap haha
Ugh ds threw up in the car on the way home from daycare tonight. This is his 4th time puking in my car. I HATE puke. Excuse me as I spend the rest of the night dry heaving
@dntstpbelieveing ugh I’m sorry, puke is the worst! Especially when in the first tri. DD had a diaper that made me gag this morning.
And it turns out DD has a raging sinus infection. Kinda glad we took her to the pediatrician before the weekend.
She cried when we left because she wanted to stay. Like what the heck kid? They just gave you the flu shot. I guess the poor thing has major cabin fever after being home all week that even the doctor is a fun trip.

@spacepiraterunner, that’s really good to hear, actually. The first hand annecdotes are reassuring. I haven’t had to deal with anything like this before, so it’s new territory.
Luckily, my boss was awesome (seriously, awesome) about it and her response was congratulations and that she would buy me HEPA masks, which I was super appreciative of because I was more than happy to buy them myself.

@meatballs37 I hyped my kids up maybe too much for their flu shot. They were so excited to get their flu shot and treat that we walked in with them singing 'We want a flu shot, we want a flu shot!' Super cute until they saw needles and learned what a flu shot actually is. So much betrayal is their eyes.
@meatballs37 is it amoxicillin? I LOVE the way it tastes 🙈
So DS had a dentist appt this morning and it got canceled last minute (hygienist had a family emergency). He was jumping on my bed, mad, saying " I want dentist, I want dentist". Luckily he's still going to see The Guy and going to an open house with us otherwise his weekend would be shot. The Guy is his barber 😂

So I'm super late to this discussion but just wanted to say in my last BMB, we moved to a private group on TB to really get to know each other first. There was a thorough vetting process of posting a picture of yourself with visible bump plus an obscure object (tough to just Google image), and that was after you were voted in via love tits. Then when it came time to make a FB group, we were already comfortable with each other. We moved to FB in 3rd tri, and the private group on TB definitely made that feel much more comfortable. I liked that I got to know each other on there before the babies came. I'm not sure I could handle relearning names for everyone in addition to a newborn. But I had an extremely colicky baby last time.
