Re: Oct 2018 FET

  • I'm sorry @purplg8r :( getting let down by a canceled cycle is not easy; however, I'm  glad you have a plan moving forward! I hope the new med plan will make all the difference!! Eat as many carbs as you want and do whatever you need to ❤️ I'll be following along with your next cycle, I feel so invested in all y'alls journeys!

    I'm sorryyyyyyyyyyyy @purplg8r, that sucks! very sorry, eat all the carbs that you want and chocolate too! you got my green light for that! wish you the best for your December transfer! did you say that on your DH's insurance they have a lifetime max $$ amount to cover FET? did you reach the max? if, so does it mean they will not cover anymore at all because of the lifetime term or just for this year? sorry, insurance is so confusing for me and I have a lifetime max on my insurance too so I'm trying to understand... again very sorry for your canceled cycle
  • @purplg8r sorry your cycle was cancelled 😩 I completely understand what you said about being resigned to delays in the office, then being mad later. I’m sorry for more waiting and all that frustration. But it is nice you’ll have a shorter protocol next time. And I sound like a broken record, but did they say anything about delestrogen for next time? Hope it all comes together for your December transfer ❤️

    I got an email from a nurse, as they couldn’t reach me by phone (dead zones in the mountains). They said the labs looked good and to start PIO right away. So, somehow I’m still on for 10/15! Did not see this as the outcome, but I’m hopeful the lining is good enough for our embryo 🙏
  • @mkr_0128 @annielmartinez thanks ladies!

    @babydust2507 H’s insurance covers $11,000 lifetime.  My clinic said we would hit that with 3 iuis, an ER, and a transfer with maybe some going to a second if needed. I foolishly thought we would be KU in a year. I talked with insurance yesterday and there are still monitoring sessions for ER and this FET cycled that need to be processed but it looks like I’ve used around $4500 of that lifetime max.  It costs about $6000 a year for me to be on H’s insurance
  • Amazing @hereforthebabies!! Good luck with your PIO, you're so close!
  • @purplg8r <3<3<3 I am so, so sorry! My last cycle was cancelled for hormone issues and I know how much it sucks and how frustrating it is to have no control. Obviously you don’t want to waste an embryo on a bad cycle, but you still want to shake your RE and be like, “Why can’t you make this work!?” I’m frustrated for you that they’re making you skip a cycle. Did they say why you couldn’t go straight into another cycle? It’s neither here nor there, just curious. Anyway, eat all the carbs because you damn well deserve them. I’m so sorry—lots of creepy internet hugs, my friend!
  • so sorry @purplg8r getting canceled is hell.  and having to wait an extra cycle!  IF definitely teaches us patience (or forces patience upon us).  you've earned the carbs.

  • whoop whoop @hereforthebabies!!!! that's awesome news very happy for you! c'mon 10/15 we're ready!
    @purplg8r thanks for explaining and I got my fingers crossed for you, this december FET will be the one!
  •  @purplg8r I'm so sorry you've been cancelled this month. I've had cancelled cycles before and know how frustrating and infuriating it is. I'm glad your RE talked you through it and made a plan going forward. You want that precious bean to go into the best and snuggliest place! Easy to say now - but hopefully this extra time will get you your perfect results. In the meantime - eat watch and enjoy all the junk.
    @hereforthebabies Woo-hoo for starting progesterone! I'm not a PIO warrior - but I'm sure you got this!!
    @blackhottamales I am sooooo ready for this month to be over!
    DH mentioned Christmas this morning and then immediately said he just couldn't think about it until we were through with this month and knew what was what. I think he's actually more conscious of this cycle for me than for any others - he's been incredibly sweet over the last week (bought me roses - keeps making dinner - insisting we go for sushi 'one last time' this weekend - even suggesting a relaxing mini-break!). Long may this last!
    Sorry I've been a little mia this week. Had a little meltdown after starting the estrogen so took a step back, but doing better now.
    So who's still in for transfer this week? It's getting hard to be sure from the progress sheet - everyone still with us?:

  • @purplg8r - Sorry about the delay, but as you said it is for the best, you need to have your body and levels in the best shape to welcome your embaby.
    @hereforthebabies - Yayyyy
    for moving forward!! So excited for you.

    AFM - PIO tip:
    the pre-op nurse had a suggestion and its working!! I normally do heat-massage-heat, so this time I switched to massage-heat-massage and added walking.  So, once DH finishes with the PIO, he massages then I put a heating pad for a couple of minutes and then I walk around the house, massaging at the same time.  Its been only 4 shots but I can tell the difference on the soreness.

    On a different note, I
    think I can say now we are ready for transfer day on Saturday!  Still very very nervous, excited, anxious, scared, etc!! But since this is our last embaby, and we both have OCD personalities, DH and I had a good talk last night to go over our plans for the future.
    For
    now, just thankful we made it to today and praying our embaby makes it through thawing and that we have a baby in 9 months.  If for some reason, that is not the result, we will put the baby plan on hold for a few years, and maybe we will move closer to the beach and travel to our wish list destinations, just focus on us as a couple, and then maybe we will look into adopting a kid or an older baby (as we will be close to our 50’s).
    It
    was a great talk, he ended up saying, we should be in peace, we have done everything, own eggs, donor eggs, surgeries, tons of needles, acupuncture, meditation, supplements, so if this one doesn’t work, there must be a different plan for us.
  • @roisis eat all the sushi!!! I ate poke bowls everyday before transfer. I’m so sad I can’t have them right now. My brain sometimes tells me it wouldn’t be so bad to have it. But I keep driving past them sad. I’ve been less good about not eating lunch meats, too many free lunches at my work are sandwiches. Haha

  • Not sure but I think poke was popularized in Hawaii.  Basically raw fish with delicious sauces over rice with various toppings. A lot of places cropped up similar to chipotle. You customize your bowl as you order. I’m making my mouth water. (((Cries))) lol

  • @northbeach3 i had a friend in town this weekend who is an OBGYN and she was looking out for my dietary restrictions during the 2WW and said "let's avoid sandwiches but sushi is ok just keep the high mercury ones limited to one serving a week".  if by a miracle i do get a BFP i plan to eat salmon sushi/poke (my fav anyway!) during pregnancy. everyone has a different take on things but this is one of the debated ones and most of the world considers it safe.  just some encouragement - but of course do whatever you feel comfortable with/what your dr recommends!

  • hi friends, I've popped over to the November FET board but have been lurking and rooting for all of you <3

    Just wanted to send my love to @MamaK225 and @purplg8r - BFNs and cancelled cycles suck a big one. Thinking of you ladies and hoping that your recovery from this set back is swift and as painless as possible
  • @Griffin5413 YES!  7dpt is when I broke down last time and tested too.  So happy you got a BFP <3 Are you going to keep testing now that you've broken the seel?
    @mama2b1974 Great perspective!  Happy to hear you two are going strong as a couple and not letting IF damage what you have.  FX for Saturday!
  • @Griffin5413 YAY!!!!!!!!!! our 1st BFP of the board! may the good news keep on coming for the rest of us! congratulations I'm very excited for you! so when is your 1st beta again?
    @roisis that's wonderful enjoying the pampering and you might get more when baby comes  ;) !
    @mama2b1974 that's very sweet! I love it! meanwhile I got my fingers crossed for you for this cycle and pray that you  get your new addition to your sweet family!
  • Hey ladies...

    just updating y’all...yesterday was my first acupuncture appointment and i think i am in love lol. I went in not fully sold on the process but said hey why not what do i have to lose. Yesterday i had a headache and pain in my neck(get it a lot) all day. Told the acupuncturist about it, she hit some certain spots and holy crap left her office with no pain. I was amazed.

    My acupuncturist is also a doctor of Chinese Medicine, so she also burned moxa (Chinese herb) over my stomach and feet...not sure but it’s allegedly supposed to warm the uterus and make it ready for implantation🤷🏼‍♀️We shall see. She also advised that I eat warm foods and drink warm drinks leading up to the transfer. She said to avoid even salads, and it would be better to eat steamed veggies. Again 🤷🏼‍♀️ Who knows but I’m going to give it a shot. Anyone else have the moxa treatments?

    i have faith in her...because she suffered from her own fertility issues, tried to conceive with her husband for years, without success until she started using the moxa treatments and acupuncture herself and now she is 6 months pregnant. I’m hoping some of her baby juju rubs off on me.
  • hereforthebabies - I will probably re-test on Saturday or Sunday right before the test.
    babydust2507  - first beta is Sunday
    dreamunoz - I felt the same way about acupuncture the first time I did it. I was just figuring I would hedge all of my bets. If anything, it was super relaxing so just the stress relief itself was worth it in my book.

    I haven't ever heard anything about steamed veggies. I'm gonna try to eat some of those too!

  • @wishing-and-hoping ack, okay, i'll try to be better at saying no to deli meat sandwhiches.  sigh, i love a good club. haha  but now i may explore low mercury poke options.  sadly, i think tuna (my fave) is some of the highest in mercury.  waaah

    @dreamunoz my acupuncturist did the moxa treatment once.  i've been going for almost a year, so they've done a lot of different things.  mustard seeds in the ears (under a bandaid), chinese tea pills (herbs for stronger blood), and some herbal tincture for stress relief. it's hard to say if it's working, but after my second miscarriage, i had the longest aunt flow (6-7 days, when i'm normally 3-4).  she said that was a good sign and that women's menses should be longer.  (shrugs)  also was advised to eat warm foods and bone broths (like vietnamese pho) and keep warm feet.  if anything, it is helpful to take an hour out of each week to decompress.  good luck with your treatments.

  • @dreamunoz & @kristimh80 i never heard about warm food/drinks and body 2 weeks before hand! At least i still have ~3weeks before my transfer so i can start now.  And it's perfect timing because it just got cold here.  But first i have to go get a Poke Bowl now because i'm starving and am now craving it--Tuna of course=my favorite.

    Have you all stopped drinking as well?  I didn't drink while stimming, but I have had a couple drinks before waiting to transfer. Does red wine count for a warm drink :wink: I could warm it like the Germans and their gluehwein.

    Also it's Thursday!!

    **Possible TW
    I had my followup phone call with my RE today, she made a good point: if i had done a fresh transfer they would have transferred 1 or both of the day 5 embryos and both of them were missing chromosome 16 which is a common abnormality that causes embryos to miscarriage.  I'm grateful for not pushing to have the fresh transfer when originally really wanted to. end TW**
  • @Griffin5413 wooooo!!!! Congrats!!!
  • @mama2b1974 Sounds like you’re in a really great place but still sending you all sorts of positive energy for Saturday!
    @roisis I’ve been on the sushi/red wine train for the last few weeks. Getting it all now before that BFP!
    @northbeach3 YUM poke bowls! I’m originally from Hawaii (living in NJ now) so you’re speaking my language!
    @Griffin5413  YAY!!! FX continued BFP!
    @dreamunoz Acupuncture is AMAZING! I’ve used it so much for all sorts of ailments and I truly believe it works. Glad you’re without pain.
    @blackhottamales I’ve been having a glass of red wine here and there too. It’s “therapy” for me ☺️
  • YES YES YES @annielmartinez ❤️ bring on the 18th!!

    AFM- day 0 blood this morning for Estrogen and progesterone. Nurse emailed me it came back and my numbers "look great" with low numbers for both (which I guess is what they want?). I continue lupron and start Estrogen pills tomorrow!
  • @annielmartinez Great news! Glad to hear it's on :)

    @mkr_0128 It's really starting! Wonderful :)
  • @annielmartinez  - the 18th will be here before you know it!!!!

  • @Griffin5413 how did i miss your earlier post--very exciting.  Can't wait to here you update after Sunday's Beta.
  • @Griffin5413 the steamed veggies were recommended instead of salads because i told her i eat a lot of salads. Her recommendation was to do cooked veggies instead because the hot food is better. And CONGRATS on the BFP!!!!! So exciting!!

    @northbeach3 she also put the mustard seed things on my ear. She said it was for stress relief and when i feel stress or frustration to rub each one for 10 seconds🤷🏼‍♀️ I told her that the way my husband was set up, she may need to put more mustard seeds to rub lol! So far today I have had an easy day at work so haven’t had much stress to test them out.

    @blackhottamales i had not heard of the hot foods before the acupuncturist said it either. In fact the only thing i had heard was pineapples were supposed to help implantation. She suggested to stay away from the pineapples because it’s a cold food. The idea is the hot food/drink will warm your uterus making it more implant friendly. Who knows, but my last transfer failed and i was drinking lots of cold drinks/foods both before and after transfer so i figure let’s try something different and hope for the best.
  • @Griffin5413 - so happy for your line!!
    @annielmartinez - woohoo on having your transfer date confirmed  :)

    AFM - About warm foods and feet.  I think it helps with implantation...I haven't been able to pass 5 weeks, but I had no issues with implantation and my numbers doubled beautifully! I kept my feet warm all the time and eat/drink room temperature water, fruit and veggies and warm/hot foods.  Part of my pre-transfer day ritual is making a large pot of chicken soup  ;)
  • @blackhottamales Honestly, I didn't start the warm foods until a day or 2 before my transfer and just did them til my beta. Crazy though, after my transfer, for a couple of days I was freezing so I craved all those things! Plus sweatpants in the summer lol

    @mkr_0128  Woo-hoo for getting started :D:smile:
    I'll also be starting acu this weekend. I'm really lucky in that my best friend (a nurse for ~20 years) actually does acupunture and so insists on giving it to me for free <3 I can't say for definite if it works or not but my 2 previous transfers did implant so I'm happy to everything as we did before. Sometimes I think it's as much a relaxing therapy session for me - getting to catch up on all the craic with her :smile:
