@Avrilmai I’ve read that supposedly you can’t turn off the ~Presidential~ alert even if you have the emergency alerts off. National security and all that jazz. I just hope we don’t get a ~Presidential~ alert for something dumb.

@kiki047 they daily gtkys fell off like a lot of the other daily post. (and it didn't get added back into the wto/tww posts either, weird) do you have an idea for a GTKY? if so get one started!

@Avrilmai I'm not creative enough to come up with anything, otherwise I'd try lol. I've just spent far too much time lurking TB today and noticed we haven't had any GTKYs lately. Maybe it can be a weekly GTKY?

We've been lucky to have a lot of TTGP grads these last 2 months so there's been some turnover. The daily WTO/TWW are still pretty active but I also know a lot of them are also active in the TFAS/TCCAL/IF threads too.

I've never been a huge fan of flu shots, simply because it seems the scientists are simply guessing on which 4 strains are going to be prevalent that year and more often than not, it seems like they're always wrong. With that being said, back in January I almost got hospitalized with dehydration from having both flu A and B at the same time. TW BFing:

I was also BFing at the time and everyone knows how important it is to keep fluids down for that.

So now I'm an advocate. The college I work for is doing free flu shots because our private campus had so many hospitalized and quarantined last year.

@marebear15 I wish that our campus did free shots for the students. We literally are combined with this giant med center and students still have to pay 20 bucks for a shot. They’re usually the cesspool

I have never gotten a flu shot because it always seems like those who said they got it get sick. I might try this year, though! I work in an office with people with horrible immune systems and they can't seem to understand the concept of washing their hands. I'm that person with Clorox wipes grabbing handles.

Daily GTKYs: Thank you for starting it @Avrilmai! It felt like I was the only one posting them for a while and sometimes I forget if there’s a lot of action going on in the dailies...or my life, lol. PSA: anyone can start them!

Flu shots: Yes to flu shots! They are inactivated strain(s) of the virus(es) scientists *think* will be big that year. Which is why they don’t always work well...who can predict the future? And even if you get the flu that year you’re more likely to have milder symptoms. There is literally NO way that you can get the flu from a flu shot. #science. Ask for the preservative free version (it’s used for TTC’ers and pregnant ladies).

I'm in the same boat, @marebear15. We get them for free too but I only ever got them if I happened to be at the Dr during flu season and remembered to ask. Otherwise I never liked the idea of putting crap in my body that may or may not even work. But I was deathy ill and almost hospitalized once from the flu and then my Uncle was in the ICU and the family requested all visitors have their flu shot before going to see him (and he's still in LTC) so I've gotten one every year since then. It came up at work and we're split about 50/50.

I love a flu shot! I thought they were useless until I moved to a city with public transit. After getting the flu a couple of times I started getting them and haven’t gotten the flu again since.

Re: flu shots, got mine yesterday. I understand that it may not cover the strains that are particularly active that year, but I’d rather be prepared. I did check with my RE before getting it and asked what her opinion was about getting the shot prior to an ER. She said they encourage it and said there was no reason to wait. She ended her message with get that vaccine! So I did.

@harrierwife I think wondos are awful. I years ago had a batch giving false positives and have heard of it happening before.

I bought a pack of 50 of a brand I never heard of before, it had 4+ star reviews. But I read the reviews today, and lately it has a ton of 1 stars. I am thinking about returning them.

@kiki047 Hobby Lobby is great!! There is soooo much good stuff in there - download the app so you can get a 40% off coupon. Nothing singularity is too expensive in there, but you can definitely do some damage if you get all the things you want!

@lillywonderland my friend and her husband are coming in late tonight to stay with us, and we will go to brunch tomorrow! I’ve honeslty never brunched here so I’m excited, although the odds of me doing a “whole 27” instead of 30 are pretty high haha. Then we have a wedding at night that I really don’t want to go to, it’s a very distant relative. We probably won’t stay long especially since we won’t be able to drink. On the plus side, it’s where our wedding reception was, so that’ll be fun to see again!
@kiki047 hobby lobby is dangerous...enjoy yourself! I love looking through the section with all the random decor.
@brookert615 paintball sounds so fun! Never done it but have always wanted to.

We have a version of that here in Canada called Michael's but from what I've heard, Hobby Lobby is in a whole other dimension. I'll have to ration myself between that, Target and Trader Joe's.

@lillywonderland it's called a "Zombie Hunt" - I don't know what's all involved to be honest. But it's something different! DH is a mechanic at a school district so I couldn't help but laugh at your comment because he's always like "It's a school night, dontcha know?" when I suggest anything on a weeknight!

My random/Monday confession: I am sooooo friggin happy for all the TTGP ladies that have been moving over to June bmb. I am also pretty envious. I have been lurking hardcore and loving their updates / living vicariously and wishing that I was participating.
