@poshspice I always tried to bring a variety of new toys to distract my son and just swap them out every so often. If your little loves books a couple new ones could be a great distraction. Is she coloring yet or does she like stickers? Those are smallish items to pack that could be very entertaining. Lots of snacks too. Treats that aren't the norm, m&m's and twizzlers are his favs, always helped to distract my son when he was starting to get a little cooped up. For me unless he was sleeping I wouldn't have a chance to use my phone or read on a flight but if you can get her set up with a movie it would be nice to have something available for yourself.
I'm frustrated with DH... I am feeling like poop on a stick, went to the store to find something for dinner while texting him asking him weekday he wants and telling him nothing sounds good. I buy little necessities like detergent and tell him nothing sounded good so I left, asked what of four places sounds good. He said any of them... I wanted to shake his shoulders and tell him, "I've been throwing up all day and I don't think my favorite food in the entire world sounds good... For the love of God, pick something!!!" Now I've picked Wendy's because I'm getting myself a baked potato* and I'm in the drive through 😃
*Thank you to whoever posted about baked potatoes last week!
Just a random thought from an issue I just ran into. The best way to cook chicken... You're going to be floored... Wait for it... TURN ON THE BURNER 😂😭
@bluesky22 Here are some of my go-to's for dinner at home:
1. Turkey meatloaf (my daughter loves it with lots of ketchep...catsup...that red stuff)
2. Taco party - I get the giant can of taco seasoning and it has the recipe for the taco meat on it. If you have extra tortillas, you can make breakfast burritos with eggs
3. Baked salmon with baked veggies
4. Baked chicken with veggies
5. "Chipotle bowl": chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, black beans...corn...whatever you want...in a bowl with a chipotle-sour cream drizzle
I also like to bake a batch of potatos at a time...reg or sweet. I put the oven on 400 and put the potatoes on a lined baking sheet. Then I bake them for an hour. If I make more than I need, i can send one with the hubs for lunch, eat one myself for lunch or just have two dinners worth already cooked.
@keighty80 what a sweet present! I'm very jelly of you. That's one band I've always wanted to see but haven't gotten the chance to.
The thing about Patrick Stump though, is that his lounge singer phase made me quite leary. I definitely like him better as part of FOB. They complete him.
@stringofhearts I went and bought a nude, black, and white belly band at target last night. I don’t have a choice anymore. My bump gets bigger every day and it’s getting to the point where I almost can’t zip my pants! They only had jeans for maternity pants at target, and as amazing as that would be, I can’t wear jeans every day to work.
@DressageDarling Yesss to snacks. We had DD as a lap child (11 months) on our flight to France this past summer. Fun times. @poshspice great suggestions from everyone! I swung by the dollar store and got a bunch of cheap toys. My daughter loved the etch-a-sketch (for about ~30 minutes). Otherwise, we did a lot of walking up and down the aisles. People didn't seem to mind at all. We also had an overnight flight, so she slept for a bit which gave me a break. Good luck!

Did you check their online maternity selection? I know I’ve seen knit pants on there. My target has a really small maternity section, it’s basically 3 racks and a shelf. 😐 I hope those bands work for you til you’re ready for full-on maternity pants.
@stringofhearts I haven’t yet. The bands should allow me a lot more time in my current pants. I’ve looked online at Old Navy and Gap and Maternity Motherhood but just can’t seem to find anything I like. It doesn’t help that most women’s maternity sections only go as low as a 4. I’m a 0 pre-pregnancy so it’s really hard to find adult clothing as it is, let alone maternity clothing. 😂 I may be wearing LOTS of dresses soon.
@mrskoz428 how frustrating. Perhaps the belly bands will help keep you in your regular pants for longer than. During my first pregnancy we didn’t have a lot of extra money for me to go buy maternity professional clothes and casual clothes and fortunately I was able to use the belly bands with some of my work pants until about 8 months or so.
Finally found something that will make me throw up. One of the kids I have in my before school program lacks impulse control and is on medication to help, but sometimes he shows up and his meds haven't kicked in (or he spit it out in the toilet...). Today it hadn't kicked in and while he was eating his breakfast he scooped some out of his mouth...and smeared it all over my jeans 🤢🤢🤢 He did it so fast I didn't even have time to stop it. I get it that he has a documented specialty, but omg I have never been more disgusted and nearly threw up all over the table.
I got home from work last night to find our house temp at 64 degrees. Not a huge deal we keep it set to 68 generally however I turned it up to 72 to get the heat to kick on and warm up a bit. Well, I passed out with my 2 year old at 830 last night and just woke up to find it 60 degrees in the house. Looks like something is wrong with the furnace😭 Ahh the joys of home ownership.
We've been hosting an international high school student this year, and last night she told us that she and her parents have decided to transfer her to a different school. I'm really disappointed - DD1 loved having her around and I was enjoying getting to know her too. She is from China, and would share bits and pieces of the culture and it was fascinating. And... we will definitely miss the $800 a month.
The coordinator of the program has said we could get another student in January, but since we'll only be 4 months away from baby at that point, I'm not sure it's a great idea.

@expandcontract I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm good now, but for days I was so mad about my husband eating my Smarties. He came home one night unexpectedly with jolly ranchers, though, and I forgave him.
My doctor prescribed me diclegis for the nausea and some antibiotics and I'm afraid to take them. I'm not sure why, but I'm really paranoid about 9 weeks. I'm afraid something bad will happen. My mc was really early so I've already passed that, I can't put my finger on it. But I'm 8w3d and she wants me to be on these meds and my anxiety is kicked up a ton. I know they're safe statistically but I'm already paranoid about 9 weeks so taking meds a few days before I'm 9 weeks is not feeling good.
@eatinwatermelonseeds why the antibiotics? If you are that anxious about it, I would definitely say you can hold off on the diclegis until you feel comfortable, but you might not want to wait on those antibiotics.

Yesterday's "advice to the partner" reads as follows: Is she craving ice cream and chocolate? Find a sweet fruit that will appease her appetite while keeping her healthy."
NO.
Spouses and SO's are literally the ONLY support people we have in our lives who don't lecture us on what we can and cannot do with our bodies. We have our mothers, our sisters, our doctors, our doulas, and our midwives harping on us ALL THE TIME. We need ONE FRICKING ALLY to stand up for us and our comfort/needs.
A spouse going to the store to get us a sweet treat should NOT BRING HOME FRUIT. They should say "Sure thing, honey. What kind of ice cream would you like? Want a Hershey bar, too?"
It's bullshit. I've been craving steak and if my wife came home with some dry chicken breasts and said "Here, this is healthier" I would burst into flames.
Ugh, I bet that statement was written by some perky little health nut who had perfect pregnancies and lived off lean protein and veggies. C-U-Next-Tuesday :P
@fuscok88 I hope it’s an easy fix. When do you have a tech coming to check it out? We’ve been purposely keeping ours off until after our service appt in a couple weeks and we have had some chilly mornings too. Luckily we have a space heater that I set up in the living room to help us through the wait.
@wishiwaspreggo wth?! I agree. If DH came home with fruit I would toss it with how moody I've been 😂
DH questioned why I got sourdough English muffins and club crackers at the store yesterday. My response was "I've thrown up five times today. If I'm gonna throw up tomorrow morning, I want it to be something I enjoyed." He backed off lol
@wishiwaspreggo oh helllll no! I would be livid if my H came home with fruit when I asked for ice cream. Our SO's have literally one job while we're pregnant. To support us. Not make us feel like shit. And that "tip" sucks and the person who wrote it sucks too.

I try to eat lean meat and veggies when I'm not pregnant, but when I'm with child, all bets are off!! Hubs: what you want for dinner? Me: RED MEEEAT!!!! And milkshaaaaakes!!
@mrskoz428 I was the same size as you before my first pregnancy and Motherhood Maternity made dress pants in XS that fit me well
@wishiwaspreggo that’s OBNOXIOUS. I also take issue with the fact that a TB article warned pregnant women not to announce their pregnancies before second tri. SCREW YOU, women can announce their own personal medical information whenever THEY choose so why don’t you just shut it. Stop telling women what to do. What if something goes wrong? Well, what if that woman needs to grieve in public? You can’t tell her how she is allowed to handle a loss and you can’t tell her she’s not allowed to be publicly excited about something so big. In case you can’t tell, I’m fired up about it.
@imrachellea I don’t see how you didn’t throw up after that! That’s pretty gross.
@expandcontract Eating a pregnant woman’s food is just wrong. I’d be pissed too. My husband learned the last time around not to eat eh last of anything. Tears have happened before.
@wishiwaspreggo Agree 100%. If I want fruit, I’ll say fruit, but if I’m saying ice cream, you best not show up with fruit. The pregnancy advice these apps give on certain topics are just terrible.
@wishiwaspreggo If my husband did that...thankfully, he knows better. He did read I should eat veggies so he made me broccoli but he also ran out to buy me chips.
My coworkers have noticed I am not feeling well. I work with a lot of women and I know none of them would ask me if I am pregnant, but I am positive they are on to me 😂
@wishiwaspreggo ugh! I would bet that the person writing that has never even been pregnant! Sometimes you just want one thing that will settle your stomach, and everything else is absolute garbage.

The thing is, I can't really count on my hubs to bring me back exactly what I want regardless. Pre-pregnancy, I was like: Please pick up some PEPTO on your way home. P-E-P-T-O. The pink stuff. Please.
And then he comes back with Kaopectate bc he thinks it's a superior product.
I would like to think though, that he would appease me with the good stuff if I was really fiending for sugar... But it's a safer bet to get it myself.
@wishiwaspreggo etc. My brother and SIL are super health conscious, crunchy granola types who drink pressed juices all the time and refused all ultrasounds except the anatomy scan because they were worried it would hurt the baby. We visited them the weekend of their baby shower and when we were going to a wine bar, SIL wanted to get a small thing of ice cream b/c she can't drink so I went with her and she said my brother doesn't like it when she eats ice cream at all. Seriously, this ice cream was so tiny. This girl has some self-admitted body issues as well as self-esteem issues and I'm so mad at my brother for being such a jerk.
Is anyone else a softy lately as far as what you watch or read? Usually I'm fine with the occasional gritty, twisty book or gory show/movie - but not right now. Give me the chick flicks and fluff. I was like this in my last pregnancy too.
If anyone needs a great fluff show on Netflix, I highly recommend the Great British Baking Show. I could curl up all day and watch this.

@wishiwaspreggo if I asked my husband for candy and he brought me fruit, I'd throw it at his head.
@k2k2tog I went in yesterday because I thought I had a UTI. She prescribed the antibiotics, and then my urine came back fine. She suggested I still take them, she's sending my urine for culture. I just feel like if there isn't anything to cause alarm, why take a medication for no reason? Of course I plan to follow my doctor's instructions, but I'm worried.
@peachy13 DH and I watched The Purge: Election Year over the past two nights and it took me a good 15 minutes to get past feeling overwhelmed by the violence.
@eatinwatermelonseeds yeah... I'm not a doctor, but that seems like kind of an irresponsible suggestion. Antibiotics are no joke and if there's no reason for them, you definitely shouldn't be taking them. I would probably push back, especially if the idea of taking meds is also affecting your mental health. Can you call them up and ask if you really need to take them? And what the risks are if you don't?

@wishiwaspreggo Fruit does not equal ice cream! That writer has clearly never had a pregnancy craving before!
@stringofhearts I don't have anyone coming to look at it. My fiance is away this week for school so he will be home Friday to check it out, until then I'm just glad we aren't having colder weather and that I have tons of big cozy blankets.
My boss told me to take comp time today/tomorrow for working extra hours for an event last night. I'm thinking of leaving around 2. I have no idea what to do with myself.
@kvh22 Oh my gosh, that's so sad I'd yell at my brother if he treated his wife like that! He's a vegan and doesn't drink but he doesn't make anyone else feel badly for eating animal products or drinking alcohol. His girlfriend drinks wine and eats meat. I can't imagine he'd say anything to her if she got pregnant.
Some men are nuts. I have a couple gay male friends who were explaining their "rules" about a woman's diet and habits if they had her serve as a surrogate and they kept saying "If you were carrying MY baby..." and say something totally asinine and insensitive. Just because you're a gay man doesn't mean you're automatically a feminist.
