@chloe97 yikes! Ok that’s scary. But none of the gummy ones have iron right?! Did you show up as low iron during your pregnancy? If I took it at night, maybe that would be ok.
@chucksmom15 good tip on Rx. I will look into that. Free is always better!
I have no idea what it is, but my prenatal tastes like mint and fish oil and was just some random one I picked off the shelf. I also have a chewable that I thought would be easier to swallow, but it tastes like chalk and is worse. I only remember to take either of them about once a week.

@bluesky24 I am switching to NatureMade prenatal multi+DHA. It was one of the best budget prenatals from my research. ☺️
those are what Im taking. i took those with my son too.

Me: 32 │ DH: 35 Married 8/16/13 BFP#1 DS 11/13/16 BFP# 2 MMC dx @ 13w 10/30/18 BFP# 3 Preemie DD born at 38w (IUGR) on 8/28/19 weighing 5.5lbs. Our little miracle
@eatinwatermelonseeds my girls are always asking/begging for their dad in the afternoon because he's the fun parent. They love guilting him every day saying, "I'm always sad when you go to work. We just miss you so much". DH then turns into a ball of mush because they rule his life lol
@chloe97 wasn't your doctor checking your bloodwork throughout the pregnancy? I can't imagine how weak you must have been after delivery and having to take care of a newborn!
Last time, I just took the Walmart brand prenatals. This time I am taking the Maleleuca brand which is supposed to be absorbed easily but you have to take this one twice a day.
When I was breastfeeding my daughter my nutritionist suggested I stop taking the prenatal because she didn't think I needed it anymore since I was "overweight." It went off of it for about a month and I became so weak with chills and just general malaise. I put myself back on them and got better. I can't believe she didn't realize that someone who is overweight (and breastfeeding) can still lack nutrients and vitamins. I didn't like her to begin with, anyways.
@sleepy33 I remember @DuchessOfCambridge talk about! Was it easy to make, and which recipe did you use? Recipes with too many ingredients and steps intimidate me. I could maybe get husband to make it though 😏
So my cats went absolutely bizerk last night and tore our bedroom apart, which is not normal. I thought I heard a mouse squeaking at one point but they also have a toy that sounds like that... fast forward to this morning and my daughter screams that Apple jack has a real mouse! My SO isn’t home to take care of it like normal so I had to clean it up 🤢🤢🤢🤢
@expandcontract my daughter named him after the my little pony character. His coloring matches the cereal so it works haha! @kbeers13 definitely not how I wanted to start my day. Can only get better though, lol.
What is everyone making for dinner this week? Meal planning is stressing me out. I usually love cooking but meal planning and cooking is the bane of my existence right now! Why do my DH and DD need to eat so frequently?!?
@bluesky24 I can't swallow big pills so I take the First Response prenatal gummies and actually found that the walgreens brand is comparable. I looked for folic acid (obviously) but also iodine and choline which aren't in every brand (at least of gummies). Gummies don't have iron so I have a liquid chelated iron that I mix with water although I'm skipping it for now as it tastes horrible and my morning sickness can't deal with it. I became very slightly anemic last pregnancy (found in my blood work when doing the GD test) and my doctor just wanted me to focus on natural sources of iron but since none was in my supplement, I want to try to do a bit of both this time. Like @chloe97 said, maybe discuss with your doctor as iron levels during and after pregnancy are really important. Since I became slightly anemic and we couldn't do delayed cord clamping (due to meconium), I was hyper vigilant about DD's iron intake as exclusively BF'ed babies use up their stores by 4-6 months PP.

Gummies don’t have iron unfortunately. So my hemoglobin was always lowish, but my Ob was okay bc it was just out of normal range. The day after DD my hemoglobin was really low and my Dr was concerned, but I thought it was just bc if the blood I lost.
Long story short, I got referred to a rheumatologist after I had a lot of unexplained issues with muscle weakness and tingling and numbness. She actually tested my iron stores, not my hemoglobin and she’s told me that hemoglobin could seem low normal even when you are running extremely low on stores. Basically, she said that the baby sucked al the iron from my body and left me with very little to function. After I started supplementing, I started feeling much better. She said that she saw this issue a lot with PP women. Once you deplete your stores, it’s hard to build them back up. So we will be monitoring throughout my pregnancy.
Had my first scan today! They changed my due date. I am now due May 22nd. But everything looks good and the baby had a strong heart beat! You could clearly see it and I got to hear it today.

@eatinwatermelonseeds it was May 12th. Such a relief to see the heart beating. Also only one! My daughter kept asking me this week what if its twins. She was messing with me telling me she thought it was 2.

@mrskoz428 a little late to this but I have a bella band from Target. It can be full panel or folded over - I also do not like pressure from full maternity panels on my stomach so I usually wear them folded over.

1- I weirdly can’t love anyone’s posts, it says I need to enable JavaScript or something so just know I’m loving them all
2- I have the Ingrid and Isabel belly bands. They were ok but I prefer the full panel maternity pants anyway. The panel is not too tight, which is something I’m very sensitive to. The side panel and underbelly pants always feel like they’ll fall off to me
3- ASOS is a great place for cute, stylish maternity clothes. They range from cheap to pricey, just keep on the lookout! I’m going to try Amazon fashion this time around as well.
4- I have prescription prenatals that I pay $0 for. They are not too big, coated, taste like absolutely nothing, and also have low iron.
5- I think this time around I’ll want a postpartum girdle/abdominal binder but as I said above, sensitive to tight things around my stomach - they actually start to give me a stomachache and make me nauseous. But would love to eventually hear recommendations.
Another note on prenatals - I get prescription ones half because they are free, and half because they don’t use fillers. I know exactly what’s in them. Most prenatal vitamin companies do use various fillers (there have been lab studies done) which I find sketchy. NatureMade is actually the best over the counter brand to take if you prefer that to prescription (but free!!). That being said, it doesn’t alarm Drs in the slightest. My OB said it was fine to choose any OTC vitamin, she had no recommendations. I started off that way but switched to prescription which is good because that was $40/bottle 😶
@SpaceBurger it was totally weird. I feel like if anyone reports anything they automatically shut it down, so maybe the OP of that thread didn't complain? I have no clue.
I have my first appt tomorrow and DH just googled the distance. He's annoyed it's 30 minutes away. First of all, *not your uterus/vagina* your opinion here doesn't count as high as mine. Second of all, my last OB/hospital was also 30+ minutes from my house (he argued that it was five minutes from my work). And finally, it's actually 24 minutes to this doctor/hospital and I mostly go once a month, so chill dude. This was one of only two practices that delivers at the hospital I want to be at (insanely family centered) so it is what it is.
I’m going to see one of my all time favorite bands in concert tonight. FALL OUT BOY! *squeeeeee* I’ve loved them since high school and my fiancé surprised me with tickets for my birthday (8 months ago) lol
I delivered my son over 45 minutes from our house because it was the closest hospital. It was fine. We're about 20 or so minutes from the hospital I'm delivering at this time. 24 minutes shouldn't be an issue at all.
Help me survive a 5+ hour plane ride with a toddler tomorrow! (and the return flight on Sunday!)
I've downloaded a bunch of stuff from Netflix, but what else besides food do I need to keep DD (22 months) busy on the plane? If I set her up with her movie is there any chance I will have downtime for myself? Like do I need to bring a book for myself or will I be able to watch anything on my own phone?
We have flown with her before, but it was a quick hour and a half flight each way, not like these giant ones we're taking this weekend. I'm scared.
@poshspice Remember headphones for the Netflix! I forgot one time, and the plane was so loud that it was useless. Also get a bunch of stuff from the dollar bins at Target or something ~ one activity for every 20 minutes. I pretty much had my entire carry-on dedicated to toys and snacks.
@poshspice we did two 8h45m flights in the spring with an almost 5 and almost 3 year old. We brought colouring books, Wikki Stix, reusable sticker books, tablets loaded with games and movies, and some educational workbooks (the dry erase kind). My favourite road trip/plane item for 1-3 year olds is definitely Melissa & Doug Water WOW! pads and Melissa & Doug reusable sticker pads. The water wow pads are basically colouring pages that they just paint over with the included brush (you fill it with water). As the page dries it goes back to its original state then you can start again. There's 10 or 12 different pictures in the pad. Reusable sticker books come with a bunch of pages (different landscapes/settings) to stick the stickers on, but my kids have also liked to stick them on windows in the past. Car windows and our playroom windows were big hits.

This one. I also added a 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder. It was a little spicy, but delicious!
