  • @sammierose464 I hate when parents refuse the Vit K injection. It makes me
    so uncomfortable.
You can’t reject it in NY. If you try, they call CPS, take custody of the baby, administer the shot and then I’m not sure what happens. I think they return custody to you, but there may be other stuff involved.  I’ve seen conversations on some holistic Facebook groups about it and everybody is too afraid to try refusing, but there’s a lot of complaints about it.

@sammierose464 I am a SAHM and used to lose track of how long ago I showered all the time.  I’ve gotten so much better about it, but it’s been crazy busy lately.  I only know I showered on Tuesday because Monday is shower day for everybody in the house (swim lessons are that day so I make sure the kids shower before bed and I usually do after they’re done) and I was exhausted after dealing with the attitudes from the kids so I waited until the morning.

  • I normally shower every morning before work. I don't usually shower on Wednesdays, but some days I do it just to wake me up and keep me focused.
  • @purplegoldfish2 I have exactly the same problem. Sometimes I have to think way too hard to remember how long it's been and usually have to relate it to what I've done this week. Like this week I remember I washed my hair on Saturday because that's the day I got my hair done. But I did shower on Monday because that was my MFM appt. I meant to shower and wash my hair yesterday, but DD took her nap on top of me on the couch so that killed that idea.
  • I find it very interesting how different everyone's glucose test instructions are...doesn't it seem odd that its not standardised? Fasting vs not etc.

I have mine tomorrow, specifically asked my OB if I need to fast, she said nope.

I am dreading it though, i despise that orange drink. Last time i nearly vomited in the waiting area.
  • @jemmerjams Did you see her post about how flying is bad because they don’t pump 100% oxygen into the cabins? They, gasp, add nitrogen to it! Somehow she realized how dumb that was because the post was taken down, but not before people got screenshots of it.  I’m actually surprised it came down because she usually deletes anything that questions her, so somebody close to her must have called her out on that one.

Re organics - that’s a hard one and since it’s so controversial it’s hard to know what’s true and what’s not.  Are the organic pesticides really not as regulated as synthetic or is that something conventional farmers want people to believe? I find it hard to believe the FDA would just give organic pesticides a pass without regulating them. I know for a fact that not all organic foods are sprayed (there’s a local farm that’s certified organic and are also no spray), but I also know that not every farm follows that policy and it’s safer to assume grocery store organics were sprayed. Organic pesticides aren’t as effective, but I read it’s because they decompose faster so the food needs to be sprayed more often.  If that’s the case, then it still might be better because by the time you get the food the pesticides on it may be broken down more than conventional... but what do those chemicals break down into? Something inert or something worse for you?  All of the studies I’ve seen about pesticide levels in humans are conventional levels - eat organic and those levels go down... but they never monitored the pesticides that can be used on organic foods to see how much those increase. Generally we eat organic apples, berries and wheat and the rest conventional, unless we buy directly from a farm and then we will go with conventional (apples specifically I get organic because they don’t put the wax on the organic version, but when you pick them at a farm they also don’t have wax).

  • Re: organics - the FDA and USDA are fairly...lax, lets just say, compared to other countries. In most european countries, you actually have to have many, many studies to show something is safe. In the US, you only need to prove its not harmful for a certain period. It allows a lot of things to get approved in the US that are seriously banned in other countries- many of which go into our food and beverages.
  • @purplegoldfish2 omg I think I heard about that...so stupid. Yeah organics are tough, I just buy organic when/where I can, and try to buy local if it's there, because I feel like a smaller close to home farm would not need as much pesticides, and plus less emissions to get to me.
  • I told my sister about some weird watery discharge I've had all day and she responded with "go to L&D right NOW! You're probably leaking amniotic fluid!"
Um thanks for freaking me out, sis.

  • Today we finally got the dog to the dermatologist. Poor thing has a really bad ear infection. So I have antibiotics and a wash for that. He also had some breakouts from his allergies, so oral antibiotics and an antibiotic mousse for his jowels and feet. We go back on the 9th for allergy testing.

The good news (I guess) is that he doesn't think it's food based, so we can stop the super expensive Rx food he's on. However, we are probably looking at monthly allergy shots.
  • It looks great @knottieamusements. I can see why you wanted to remodel and add some room.
  • @sammierose464 - I’m not sure I would have been able to stand between the toilet and sink here in a couple of weeks.  :D
  • @mytrueloves if you continue leaking discharge that genuinely looks/feels like water for another 12 hours or more I would go into your OB and have them swab just to make sure. Probably nothing, but you never know.

  • I keeping an eye on it but I don't think it's amniotic fluid. It's watery but not like water, if that makes sense? It happens every time I wipe but there's no trickle or flow to it. I do plan on calling my doc if it continues though.

  • @mytrueloves how’s it going this morning?
  • Love love love the sink, @knottieamusements!
  • @sliztee - My contractor didn’t!  For some reason, it wouldn’t fit a standard drain.  But they got it working— eventually.
  • Looks great @knottieamusements!!

  • @mytrueloves I think you’re ok then. I got rushed to L&D a few times with Z and every time they laughed at my OB for sending me. If you’re leaking, it would be a constant flow.

  • H is in for a colonoscopy right now. I know they’re standard, but the longer I wait, the more anxious I get.

  • Hope he's okay and out soon @krzyriver!
  • @mytrueloves - Crazy how that works, but always good to be comfortable in your own space.  Hopefully it isn’t a small fortune refurnishing once he is gone!

@krzyriver - sending internet comfort- it’s just the hormones working overtime!
  • So i just spent almost 10 min on hold with a potential pediatrician's office, just for them to tell me to call back when the baby is born. Um, ok....that was helpful. But it's a highly recommended office so I guess I'll deal...
