@Boobopgirl Love the name Henry! If we have a boy he will be Henry James after both our grandfathers. We had a harder time with the girl name but right now really like Nora Claire. Claire is my SOs grandfather's middle name.
@Boobopgirl and @mamatwopointoh the only boy name we've agreed on is Henry too. Such a good strong boy name. We haven't gotten any farther than that lol
@CecilB93 our little girl will be Adelaide too! After DH kick ass grandma. I think it’s a beautiful name. She went by Addie and so will our little girl if she’s a she. Still undecided on middle name. I like Maria for my grandma... We don’t have a boys name picked out yet but we find out sex on July 11 so will wait to get serious. Leaning towards Lionel or Leo but subject to change.
@lagoose23 our older son is Lionel and we call him Leo (just like Lionel Messi- we are soccer fans ) we get lots of "such a cute unusual name" from a lot of people but anyone who isn't from the US usually asks us if we are soccer fans
We now have a list of 14 names that we both don't hate. Progress! My favorites are Regina, Margarite, Estelle, Lucy, and Coraline for girls and Eli, Remy, and Calvin for boys.
eta: My MIL is a math teacher and she showed me that Wolfram Alpha does names too! Kinda similar to what the census does but I like it better. https://www.wolframalpha.com/
@lexidawg It's hard when there is a name you love that you can't get your SO behind. I was also thinking of using Theo for a boy and Klara for a girl. My husband rejected both.

Preach. I cried when DH told me Arthur wasn't actually a name he'd consider. Like, I've bonded with that name and had to spend some time getting over it. ... I'm still a little bitter, TBH.
DH and I have a method now. So I use the hell out of a desk calendar and I've started writing all of the potential first names in the Notes section -so as the month progresses names get added and subtracted. At the beginning of the next month the remaining names are carried on. Clark was just 86d (we like it but it doesn't work with the non-negotiable middle name).
This should be our method unless family visits before the baby is born. They think we're still Team Green, but the list of clearly male names will make them implode, so I'll just deal with that if the occasion comes up.

@lexidawg sorry DH doesn't like your favorite name. Out of your list I LOVE Hudson! I may be biased since our friends son is Jackson William and her next boy name is Lincoln, so those are all names I don't really consider using personally, lol. But I keep asking DH about the name Hudson hoping he'll change his mind!!
@kadeephd LOVE the name Lucy!! Another name my DH has nixed, so I'll push for that name if you have a girl lol.
@CecilB93 I think I may be able to win MH over with Hudson. We live in NYC and our view from our balcony is of the Hudson River. He was like.. uhmmmm... I said.. we won't give him the middle name River and we are in the clear. LOL! It's growing on him. His favorite right now is Benjamin. I like Benjamin Lucas. But still like Jackson and Hudson more.
So I don't usually comment on names, since it's such a personal thing, but I kind of love Maximus! Gladiator happens to be my favourite movie, and it's a really nice name
I thought we were pretty set on Theodore if we are having a boy. We love all of the nn possibilities with it. But the other day SO said he likes Henry and Arthur too.
Lol, we have no idea on names.
We are even more lost on girl names. I’m still really hooked on Fern (I mentioned a ways back on this thread), but he still doesn’t like it. Plus, I can’t keep fern plants alive and I live in an area where they grow native... so... best not. I also like Josephine, my great grandma’s name, but SO doesn’t like that one either. Sigh.
I think we've decided on Emma Lynne and Declan John for names! I'm so excited. Not sure of any good nicknames for Declan though and I'm not a fan of initial nicknames like DJ, etc. Any ideas? lol
@kadeephd @ab_canada Ugh. Yeah. We really like the name Olivia Harper (although he prefers Harper as the first name, me not so much) But yeah, he's big into Star Wars and he'll ref the baby as Leia and I'm like there is no way we're naming the baby after a Star Wars character. Not happening. lol!
Since DH and I know we're having a little girl, so far, we like Alexandra or Gabriella. I'm pretty set on the middle name being "Mae" (after my grandma who had that middle name; I have a cousin that already has her first name, boo). The thing about the middle name is DH's only niece's middle name is "Mi" which is different enough but still. Also, as hubby is half Korean, was wondering if there were any Korean girl names that can go with these but we'll worry about that a little later. Hubby was super GUN HO at first about sharing names with family a bit before, but I convinced him to keep some stuff to ourselves, because any little thing he tells them, it gets around fast and everyone has an opinion. He learned the hard way! LOL
Other names we liked but it's SUPER common in our family and circle of friends to where it would get way too awkward: Olivia, Sophia, Deidre, Alexa/Alexis.

I think William is the boy only name we agree upon. Still sad about Arthur. ANYWAY.
Are people going to side-eye me if we go with a less common nickname like Wiley or Wim, instead of Will? I've been trying to refer to baby as Will for a few weeks now, and it just feels so... stuffy. Wim seems much more suited for a little baby, Wiley for a squirrely toddler, and I feel like both can kind of grow into Will as he gets older... right?
@runrinserepeat go for it! I think those nicknames are cute. The only thing is, he will probably still have some people who do refer to him as Will, but don’t let that stop you.
@katy0990 I don't think that would bother me too much, because I'd imagine that's what we'll call him when he's older. I just have a hard time not having any sort of pet name for me to call him. My other son is Edward, and we call him Ned. I call him Neddy, but I think I am the only one. And that's fine. It's just a pet name. Funny, though, because last week his t-ball coach got confused and tried calling him "Ed" the whole time, and Ned was just non-responsive. You'd think they're close enough, but apparently not. The coach would finally get frustrated and say, "Edward" and Ned would finally respond (he knows that's his full name - but that's what he's called when he's in trouble ). So... tl;dr I don't care too much what other people call my kid. As long as it's not Willy. Barf.
@runrinserepeat I think if you prefer those NN's go for it!!! Only thing I will point out is that a nickname you use from a young age will probably stick among close friends and family as they get older as they can be hard to shake. So growing into the NN "will" may not happen so whatever NN you go with know that he could be a 30 year old "Wiley". I know someone named Brooklyn, she went by Brookie when she was a baby and now she's getting older she keeps trying to go by Brooklyn and she can't shake Brookie and it drives her insane because she find its juvenile.
@runrinserepeat Lol I was going to suggest maybe Willy even though I’m not a fan, until your last sentence. I’ve never heard Wim but I think it’s very cute! I also looove Ned and Will.
We’ve pretty much decided on Jacob. We have all J kid names. H picked it and I’ve warmed up to it. H told the kids that is the baby name and so now my 4 year old is certain that is his name. I didn’t mind that- it’s so cute that my kids are excited.
@runrinserepeat Arthur is so cute! I just met an Arthur the other day and he goes by Art. It is very sad when you SO can’t get behind a name...I think my husband broke my will with our first. Every name I proposed was shot down. I ended up giving him the first name so I could keep the middle name a family name. The condition was the name he picked had to work with the middle name. We are switching for this baby...I get first and he gets middle. Talk about compromise...
We are team green so I have to have names for each just in case...funny thing is none of the other names we considered when we had our so survived this round...

If this baby is a girl we wanted to incorporate my MIL who passed in 2013. Her name was Helen Marie but I don’t care for Helen with our last name (which is also her last name). So we will definitely use Marie as a middle name and I was hoping for an H first name.
Hadley (hubs favorite), Harper and Hayden are the contenders. I just can’t get overly excited for this names yet:/.
@Llynde5 are you open to more H suggestions? Have you considered Holly (great considering our babies will be so close to Christmas), Hope, Hazel, or Heather?
I am totally open to suggestions!! Not sure if I can get DH off of Hadley. (I like it but just not sold). Holly is cute and I love Hazel. Hope reminds me of General Hospital. Lol. And Heather is my SIL.
@LLynde5 +1 for Hadley, I just like it. Other H names that come to mind are Hannah, Hillary, Helene, Haley, Harlow.

@MDKC14 I love Ryland! That would definitely be on my shortlist, except we’re having a girl. I also really like Lucas.
Gracie Mae for Girl
Maximus Andrew for boy.
Benjamin
Lincoln
Hudson
My FAVORITE name is Jackson but my husband has vetoed. UGH.

@trucksntutus Maybe you can go with Leia, Lea, or Leah... and then any middle name but Organa.
Lol, we have no idea on names.
