We do not plan on finding out the baby's sex so as of right now our boy name is Wyatt Oliver and our girl name will be Margaret something. Margaret is a family name. Last time we had settled on Margaret Amelia but I am not positive now. My husband likes Margaret Mae for Maggie Mae but I don't know after listening to the Beatles song if I like it.
We also settled on a boys name early on last time and changed it so who knows.
I’m excited for this because last time around we were settled on names before I even got pregnant. But we have no idea this time!
I’m currently obsessed with the name Lydia but mh is NOT going for it. We both like Colin for a boy but last time we were pretty set on naming after his father if it was a boy (Dennis). So I’m not sure what we’ll do yet.
My daughter is a Margaret (but goes by Maggie); that's an excellence choice!
It'll be James Robert if it's a boy (James Robert and John Michael if they're twin boys). Husband and I are super keen on family names and each came in knowing exactly which family members we wanted to honor, so we managed to name two boys and a girl in the first five minutes of discussion about 8 weeks into my first pregnancy; one important name from each side of the family for each first/middle combo. The next girl name would be a little harder for us; we're toying with Florence Marion (or Marion Florence). Marion's a family name on my side, but we don't have any candidates on his side. Florence is just our favorite honeymoon spot.
Boy name is Ephraim (although H wants to spell it Ephrem or Efrem...blah) and girl name is probably Theodora, called Theta. I know, I know. We're strange. #1 also has a unique and old name. (Actually it may be in my siggy...not sure.)

Ohhhhh! I love this game! I got my short lists already! Ok, older sibling is Caleb and last name kinda sounds like Geronimo. My husband is Filipino and I'm white, if that makes any difference to you.
Girls: Isabel, Isla, Juliette, Lily, Reese, and Violet (Top contender is Reese) Boys: Beckett, Elliott, Everett, Grant, Logan, Thomas, and Tyler (Top contender is Thomas)
Well, I'm going with a 3 letter name and here's why. My name is 7 letters, husband's name is 6 letters, then my son is Bobby (5 letters) and my other son is Kade (4 letters)
5 yo boy - Bobby Llewellyn 2 yo boy - Kade Wayne
Next baby name ideas:
Boys - Leo, Zak Girls - Liv, Max
Some middle name options are: Ryot, Meli, Kodah, Ryen, Nellie
Bobby Llewellyn born September 29, 2012 Kade Wayne born July 23, 2015 MC in February 2017 MC in November 2017 Oliver Dean (Ollie) due December 17, 2018
Annabelle Rose after my mom who i lost just 6 weeks ago. And FI grandma. And if its twin girls Stephanie Danyelle. So far for a boy we . haven't decided. But possibly something with Konnor
Boy names I like are Arthur, Miles, Simon, Wyatt, Sebastian, Lowell, and Vaughn. Girl names would be Elisabeth, Sylvia, Ruth, or Violet. I feel like it's going to be impossible to narrow this down further, especially if we stay Team Green again this time. When DD was born, we went to the hospital with three names and it took me at least 12 hours to name her.

If this pregnancy is twins (most likely wont be) haha, Leo & Liv are my top twin names. Either Leo-boy & Liv girl or Leo and Liv both girl names.

DH & I kind of dread friends asking about this when it’s obvious that I’m pg (assuming it sticks of course). This is because we don’t want to know the sex, and we don’t want to use biblical names (we’re not religious).
The current plan is to each make a list of 3-5 full names for each standard binary -with claims. Then we’ll mix and match when we see the baby. It’ll probably take a few days, I’m cool with that.

@texas_t I like all your names! Also, my husband is half-Chinese and has a Chinese last name. I'm white. I didn't change my last name when we got married and I know it'll be tough to decide which last name to give our babies. I think a fair compromise is my name for girls, his for boys. His sister just had a baby, and she kept her own last name and the baby now has her (and my husband's) last name, so there is a precedent in his family!
For first names, I like a few family names for girls: Klara, Evelyn, Anna. I also like Josephine, Cora, and Layla. For boys I don't like many family names. I do like Theodore or Theo, Simon, and Nicholas. My husband keeps saying he likes Megatron...
@kadeephd I didn't take my husband's last name until I was 7 months pregnant, lol!!! I really wanted us all to have the same last name, so that's ultimately what swayed my decision! I went to a very simple common last name to something I still have to spell in my head when I sign it, lmao!
There is an awesome site called Named Together that lets you choose all the names you like and then hides them and then your husband takes the quiz and at the end, it shows you all the names that you liked that were the same. That's how we ended up with our first son's name! It's a name we hadn't even thought of until taking the quiz
@texas_t I see the appeal of all having the same last name. I worked in a school for years though and it's pretty common for families to have different last names these days, so I think I'll stick with my own. My husband's name is easy enough... it's just not mine!
@kadeephd I get it. My dad passed away last December, so we are the end of the line because it's just my sister and I and my Aunt passed away before she had kids. In Filipino culture, it's tradition to give your child the mother's maiden name as their middle name, so my son has my maiden name as his middle name! So it still gets to be a part of me? Plus, I still use my maiden name on some things because it's easier, lol
@texas_t That is amazing! I might have to use this site.
We had two names picked out for my son but we didn't know which one we were going to use until I gave birth. So I'm sure it might be a difficult choice this go around too. My DH likes different names than I do, of course, for a girl I really like Luna or Lexie (Lexy?) idk how I'll spell it, and for a boy I have no clue...

Oh, I am all over the map when it comes to names. Our boy name has been decided since our honeymoon, but I cannot figure out even a top 10 of girls names - my list is like 30 long! (I won't bore you with all of them here, haha.) But the main question I have right now is that there's one name I want to either put near the top of my list or get rid of altogether, maybe you ladies can help? So, I've been considering the name Katherine because I am OBSESSED with the nickname Kit. We use nicknames all the time in our family, so our daughter Rose is always Rosie (and that's what she calls herself.) I keep thinking how cute Rosie and Kit would be as siblings....but, honestly, I'm only so so on the name Katherine itself. And I feel like I shouldn't choose a name *only* for the nickname, which she may dislike or only use for a couple of years, and then be called a name I'm so so on (or another nickname I'm so so on, like Kat or Kate) for the majority of her life.
BUT I just am in love with Kit so much, and even though I just feel okay about Katherine, I do think Rose and Katherine fit together nicely as siblings. (And maybe Katherine would grow on me?) Oh, and btw, in case anyone wonders, no, I wouldn't want to just go ahead and name her Kit (as my husband suggested) because I don't think it's substantial enough for her as an adult, like if she wanted to be a judge or a scientist, or whatnot. Anyway, what do you guys think? Should I keep Kit/Katherine on my list or get rid of it since I only really love the nickname?
(Sorry if this is a rambling essay, I have not had caffeine yet, haha.)
We had names picked the first time around, so it's weird having to think about names this time around! Our son is Anthony James, was going to be Lillian Elizabeth if he was a girl. Friends used the name Lillyana (not sure on spelling) though, so DH has now vetoed Lillian. We (more like I) got the name Anthony from NCIS, James is on both sides of the family. Lillian and Elizabeth were just names I liked, Elizabeth was DHs friends middle name though, **TW** and she was killed in a car accident in HS **End TW** so I like that it honors her, if we have a girl this time.
Our girl name we have figured out, Adelaide Elizabeth. Other names I like though...Vera, Lucy, Alexis.
Boy name is tougher. DH likes Cassius, and I don't mind it, but our last name ends with -as and it sounds weird together, so I'm leaning towards no. I like Emmett, Austin, I really love Amir but being that it's a middle eastern name and we're a pale white family, it's a no-go. DH likes Elio (pronounced ee-leo), it's a name in his family. We've honestly got a long list of names "we don't hate", but nothing is standing out. I'm just hoping it's a girl so we don't have to think about it
@echo-charlietango we are religious and don't particularly want to use religious names. A couple have slipped thru though (James, Elizabeth), but we have personal reasons for those names, not religious. We're at least avoiding religious for the first name.
Thanks! I think it's becoming pretty popular, but DH and I like old timey names. And I've always said DH was born in the wrong era, so it fits our family well. Really hoping it's a girl so we can use it! DHs family genes are very strongly weighted towards boys though, only one girl born in the last 3-5 decades or something like that.
@maureenmce I think Kit is really cute and Katherine is a classic name. It's also a family name for me... so you've got me thinking now lol! I also don't love the full name though, and it's one of my best friend's from childhoods names which might be a bit weird?
@texas_t A League of Their Own is what made me think of it originally! I that movie! As for Katelyn, it's DH's sister's name and he doesn't want to name it after one of his sisters and not another (he has three!) And I Katherine is my favorite of the names that would give me the Kit nickname I want (Katerina, Katrina, etc.) so it's basically either Katherine/Kit or nothing, haha. I just need to warm up to Katherine or let go of the whole thing. (Which would be fine. Again, I have like, 30 names on my list, lol.)
Omg I love so many of these names! Margaret, Theo, and LOVE Katherine (and kit!). Mh and I have been talking about names for a long time and have pretty much decided. We're gonna be team green so we won't know till it happens but for a boy the name will be Harrison Daniel (Harrison is my gma's maiden name and Daniel is h's gpa).
For a girl, we are between Elizabeth Anne and Eleanor Anne (Ann is my mom and sister's middle, I just like it with the e lol).
My only concern is that for Harrison, I don't really like the nickname Harry, any other ideas? For the girls, I'm thinking nicknames could be Ellie, Nora, of course all the Elizabeth names (h likes liz)
@morgantu Elizabeth Ann is the name of the pretend sibling my parents made up to make us do chores. "Wash the dishes or we'll sell you to the circus like Elizabeth Ann"
@morgantu The Harrison I know (he's an adult) doesn't have a nickname, he just goes by Harrison. (Not sure if that's helpful or not, sorry!) As for your other names, I love them! And Elizabeth has SO many amazing nicknames. I love Liz, of course, and Birdie and Bette - I also know a Betsy, which is rare and kind of a throwback.
@maureenmce@runrinserepeat birdie!!!! Ahhh how cute is that! MH also had that 'they need to have a strong name if they want be president', so Elizabeth is there but birdie is the sweetest thing I've ever heard! And yes, I would want him to just go by Harrison too, so that's great
@runrinserepeat Birdie is one of the cutest nicknames out there! And confession: I have not only a names list that's 30 names long, but I also have a very extensive nicknames list, haha. I maaaaaay be slightly name obsessed.
@morgantu Yay! Birdie is adorable and yes, Elizabeth works for the substantial/professional name side of things perfectly. And definitely some names don't require a nickname. My name is Maureen and I never really had a nickname my whole life and it worked out fine!
@PensiveCrayon I love Theodora/Theta! Not something I would have thought of myself, but it's a precious nickname with the ability to do something a little more formal if she grows up not liking it. Huge win.
@maureenmce I don't think there's anything wrong with picking a name for the nickname, but if you're not sold on Katherine, there are probably a lot of names that could be reasonably shortened to "Kit." Katelyn, Caroline, Kristen, Crystal, Kimberly, Corrine, Cadence, Christine or Christina, Karina, Kathleen, Katrina... even something link Charlotte or Cynthia or something. Maybe Camellia if you want to stick with a flower name theme?
... but also, Catherine Called Birdie was one of my favorite books growing up, so I'm pretty sure you could do double duty with Katherine being either Kit or Birdie, as you prefer
@AGK2015 Oh I had no idea Katherine could be called Birdie! And if we did go with Katherine, her middle name would likely be Lark, so that's even more perfect. Kit and/or Birdie! An embarrassment of nickname riches!
