I am back from my nst and all looks good. Belly is now measuring only a week behind (and we know the deal with fundal height). However I am scheduled for one last ultrasound next Friday and I'll be pretty much 38 weeks (37+6). I'm consolidating that appointment with the second weekly NST and my OB mentioned a cervix check too.
We talked about induction and he says since my baby is small/normal size he wants to give me until 41+2 before inducing and I *think* I can be ok with that.
@wildtot Maybe this is more of a confession but I've been taking stool softeners for a couple of weeks. I had 2 or 3 days of less than pleasant bowel movements, got paranoid, and have been taking a daily stool softener since. I'd say go for it.
@emsnedds omg omg! Hopefully baby can wait. Those pesky mucous plugs regenerate, so just take it super slow and easy. Do you have back-up help if YH can't get home in time? I forgot--why is he away right now? Would he be able to come home early?
@flockofmoosen3 Yeah I’m actually staying with my in-laws in Michigan now, but we live in Nova Scotia and my husband is there working while I have the baby in the US. He only has one week off of work (the week of my due date) when he will come back to Michigan to be with us. But if I go into labor before then, then my in-laws will help take me to the hospital and watch DD.
@emsnedds I hope your baby decides to stay put until your husband can get there! Could he hop on a plane and come early if you went into labor, or not so much?
I feel like my body is just straight up done with commuting and being at work. I almost pulled over on my way home today to remove my pants. I took them off as soon as I got home and my H was making fun of me for walking around in my underwear while our toddler was walking around in his diaper. I’m like idk what to tell you, I can’t wear pants right now.
@zande2016 No, unfortunately he won’t be able to get here any earlier than June 30th. I’m crossing my legs and trying to keep this kid inside my belly lol!
@acunamatada Contractions are so tricky until they become regular! Cuz it’s like, is this the beginning? Or will they subside? Try drinking water and moving around and keep us updated (:
I’ve been having painful contractions (BH? Who the hell even knows anymore) almost every night now but they go nowhere. Also, late third trimester is always fun when you have to ask yourself “do I have to poop, or is that just the baby pushing down on my rectum?” Sigh.
@zande2016 I had a similar convo with my DH, I declared no pants until baby, I even told him to join me lmao. For work I’m only wearing dresses. I don’t have any form fitting dresses so I’ve been able to get away with just wearing my regular dresses and a few maternity dresses.
@sm05-2 I've been wondering the same thing. It feels like a mini earthquake in my stomach. It literally just happened, too. Please keep us posted on what your ob says.
No baby! They were so timeable, wayy more uncomfortable than BH, for a few hours at a time but they came and went. I woke up to them again at 2am thinking “this is it!”... But they eventually stopped again. She’s dropped a lot since yesterday though, so they must have been doing something? I even sent DS to my mothers last night just in case... And nothing. I’d like her to stay put until DH’s sabbatical on the 25th, or at least past Father’s Day weekend for DH’s sake because his restaurant is soo busy.
@acunamatada Joining you on the "thought it might be baby time" last night. Lots of very uncomfortable contractions and pretty close together but I finally fell asleep and they subsided at some point in the middle of the night.
@zombiehoohaa and anyone else who’s curious, I asked my ob about the earthquakes in my belly. She said she hears about that all the time, that some women think their baby is having a seizure (they’re not). Although docs don’t know what causes them, she says it’s normal, doesn’t have anything to do with umbilical cord, and that babies with this turn out fine all the time. So that was a relief!
@acunamatada ugh the fake outs are so frustrating. I’m already so stressed about finding care for my son when I go into labor, the false alarms just make it that much worse.
Oh man, FX that the false alarms subside for everyone - especially those of us STM+! I actually emailed the school director this morning to confirm who is on the list of people that can pick up DD and need to finalize the plan if something happens in the middle of the night. With DD I didn't feel any contractions at all until my cervical scar tissue "broke" and they were suddenly 2-3 minutes apart. My doc said there's no way of knowing whether the scar tissue is "looser" now or not, so we don't really know how this will go. Definitely nerve wracking!
Confession: it almost makes me want to schedule an inducement, but I haven't asked DH or my doc about their feelings on that yet. And I know that it's best to let baby cook as long as he needs.
@foxbaby2016 37+1 here, I’m in no rush.. But at the same time I don’t want to be faked out when I’ve got to find someone for DS every time!
Agreed!! We haven't even thought about what we will do with DS when it happens. I feel unprepared lol!
TBH, I kind of had my hopes up last night, I'm just sooo uncomfortable. But I keep telling myself that another week or two inside would be great for her, despite how terrible I feel.
@canucklehead123 haha I don't actually know if it's physically possible to sneeze in the womb with the fluid and whatnot, but it is a cute image! Baby sneezes are pretty adorable. The startle reflex is cute too, they'll just be calmly sleeping and then suddenly they raise both arms in the air like a robot. I am getting excited!
I should add that my doc did say that if the “earthquakes” continue very frequently, I could call their office to check in again (maybe they would do an ultrasound?). The violent shakes happened to me about 15 times the other day but haven’t had anything as intense since, so I’m relieved. Also, my NST went well at 36 + 4 yesterday—baby was showing off her movements!
they did have to move the monitor down lower toward my pelvis, so I feel like baby is definitely dropping. But stay in there until July 2nd, little one!
My two outside kids both did the earthquake thing in my belly and I can attest to them being very healthy.
I also had real BH for the first time last night a few times and DH was freaking out a bit (between Hearthstone matches haha!). No mucous plugs in sight so I am pretty sure I am not dilated at all. Notjing exciting to report today, either.
@acunamatada@foxbaby2016 these “fake out” contractions are giving me unrest too. What is up with that? What have your contractions been feeling like??
So ever since my mucus plug fell out I’ve been having strong contractions, but they are several hours apart. They are very reminiscent of when I had real labor with DD, but these are obviously much less painful and farther apart. Every time I have one I think maybe I should start timing them, but then I never get another until hours later. Very strange. I can’t tell if my body is progressing, or settling. I’m crossing my legs and watching Netflix today.
@emsnedds they reminded me a lot of labor. At first they weren’t painful, just regular tight uncomfortable BH, but they became more painful, like a belt of pain plus the tightening. Every 3 minutes or so too. THEN literally during the drive to drop DS off at grandmas they slowed down to nothing. Happened again in the middle of the night but fizzled away.
Greetings from the hospital. Been here since 10 am thurs and stuck here another night *TMI and novel WARNING*
Woke up at 6 am yesterday with bad cramping and gas pain. 2 hours of crying out and moaning through cramps diarrhea then started passing straight blood. After 3 rounds and confirming yes it was rectum and no not a hemmaroid called pcp freaking out while dh took dd to school. PCP said call ob and if they didn’t answer go to er. Ob got me in. Baby is great but I was tachycardic and in pain and 1 cm 40% at 33 weeks so they sent me to l&d with ffn swab in hand for a gi consult. Ffn was negative took blood and samples from everywhere. Took 5 hours for gi consult and they sent the wrong office PA so then had to wait more. They are pretty sure it’s ischemic colitis but can’t figure out how I got it because it happens in old people, marathon runners, and estrogen replacement patients. Right now gi and ob are ganging up on cardio that my high hr and cardio events are causing this and he’s saying nice try if anything the loss of fluids and being pregnant are messing with my hr. No more blood since 6 pm last night but still some though much improved cramping. So here I sit 6 hrs post echocardiogram order, alone, for another night. Baby boy has been perfect this whole time And downgraded from constants monitors to periodic nst. They moved me from delivery to post which is getting me side eye from the newly delivered moms. Just want to go home and cuddle my daughter. Here’s hoping I get to go home tomorrow though I really don’t fully understand why they want me here taking up a bed.
