This was from about three weeks ago (14w). We found out about a month ago that we lost one of the twins (stopped growing around week 10). We are just glad we still have a healthy one lounging around in there.
Baby at 17.1 weeks. Its another boy. I'm kinda disappointed, but I think ill be over it soon. They will be irish twin boys and look like twins since they're so close in age. He was covering his face and trying to turn away. He was so shy!
14w6d (last Thursday). We find out a month early via US and I was so shocked and so happy to hear we are expecting a healthy looking little baby BOY! I’m over the moon to have one of each and see what life is like as a boy Mom!

Little man at 17.6 days. Theyve done ultrasounds at every appointment so far. I dont know if because I conceived 3 months after DS was born and they said I had a risk of low birth weight and preterm labor and its worrying me a little but its cool seeing baby all the time. I wanted to share this because the baby was in a really weird position and it was nice that he kicked me a few times during the ultrasound.
I ended up having an unplanned ultrasound today after falling flat on my face. I think my elbow and knee took most, if not all, of the blow but I couldn’t help worrying the baby was hurt someway. So they had me come in and the tech was super hard to read for clues about it what she was seeing was good or bad. Just focused on telling me there was a strong heartbeat when I asked, but almost like she was saying it to avoid talking about other observations. She left, presumably to have the doctor look at the images but without explanation, and came back and told me I was all set. Very uninformative. Wouldn’t give me a picture, or tell me if it’s a boy or girl since my anatomy scan is next week. They sent me on my way and I read the report in my online med record and everything (heart beat, placenta and cervix) sounds fine. I also think this probably gets billed differently than a full ultrasound appt so they ONLY will tell you about heart beat, checking that the placenta is intact, and that my cervix is not dialated- the main concerns with a fall. I just got the feeling she was trying not to say too much, which leaves me worried I’m in for some terrible surprise next week at the 20w anatomy scan. I wonder if theyd tell me if there was something unrelated to the fall going on in there.
i get they are probably not allowed to say much since they aren’t an MD, but in my last 2 I at least felt ease from them that everything was good.
anyone else have ultrasound techs that leave you feeling this way?
@rabtaido1214 if there was something obviously wrong at a minimum they would have see your OB today, who would tell you what was going on. They wouldn’t leave you in the dark about it.
@rabtaido1214 I'm sorry you fell and its worrying you. I wouldn't stress too much. There could be any number of reasons they didn't say much. If there was any major concerns that they could tell, I'm sure the Dr would be in contact.
@cdepperschmidt they told us a boy when it was still early, approximately 12 weeks. We think she just saw the nub and said hey! A boy. But there was no boy last night! Lol
With DD I had an ultrasound at 16 weeks where they told me she was a boy. A month later I had my anatomy scan and the first thing the tech said was "Very obviously a girl."

@rabtaido1214 we had scare early in my pregnancy and the ER tech said she wasn't allowed to tell us anything about what was on the screen, show us anything or even talk about it. It's probably some hospital rule.
@wendylattes thanks for the reassurance. My logical self figures that was the case, but logic is so overrated these days and hard to find in my head! It helps to hear it from someone else!
@wendylattes@rabtaido1214 Yep, I'm pretty sure US techs are not allowed to say anything about what's on the screen, because they aren't the radiologist/whatever they are called. I've had a lot of US, x-rays, MRIs, CTs, etc. in my day, and they've almost never said anything to me. When I went to the ER at 5w-ish for this pregnancy, the tech actually said quite a bit about what was going on ("your IUD is a little low" "well, I guess it's too early to see much..." etc, that kind of thing). I'm not sure it made me feel any better knowing those details, because they weren't really complete. Kind of left me with more questions. I felt a lot better when my doctor called me with the report and I was able to view the report online.
@rabtaido1214 I work for an imaging company and our techs for all modalities (US, XR, MRI, CT) are NOT allowed to say anything to patients about any results. If there’s a STAT finding, we make a call to the referring physician so that they can let the patient know ASAP, but our techs can’t say anything to patients.
I agree that if there was anything urgent, the doctor would have come in to discuss it with you.
Is it just me or does it seem like we are having a lot of boys!!?!?! Soo happy for everyone and can't wait to see the 20 week scans rolling out soon. Love the pic of the lil one covering his face. Those 3D scans are amazing
I had my anatomy scan today. The tech was very comforting and explained everything to me. She gave several indications everything looked good which surprised me she could say. The doctor came in after to take some looks and told us that there was an isolated choroid plexus cyst. I had never heard of it before. She explained that it isn’t considered a birth defect or abnormality, but when they see this they look for any other abnormal markers that combined could be a sign of trisomy 18 (clenched fists, heart abnormalities, etc.), which she did not see any other markers of. She explained this is an innocent finding for 2-3% of babies and usually resolves on its own and isn’t considered to have any impact on baby’s health. Combined with the earlier blood screening showing I was at low risk for trisomy 18 she said she was not concerned. Of course just hearing the tiny minute possibility of trisomy 18, which would basically mean incompatibility with life as she put it, sent me into panic. Given my level of anxiety she ordered some genetic blood work, but it kind of killed the initial relief and excitement. Has anyone else had this finding?
Anatomy scan. 19+2. They think baby isn’t a boy still, but we did not get a clear look. I have to go back for a repeat scan next month since they weren’t able to see everything they needed to see.
My SIL had this on her AS with my niece. Everything resolved before delivery and my Niece is now a brilliant and perfect 7 year old. I am a worrier too, so I get your anxiety. But try and follow the doctor's lead. If it was concerning they would have been concerned.
I got my 20 week ultrasound yesterday. And my little on is apparently facing forward, so the ultrasound pictures aren't the most recognizable to look at, but I got an image of his face.
My little peanut at 19+4 ... measuring at 12 ounces (big) and 6 inches. They said everything looked good in terms of development. They noticed some fluid in the kidneys but said that’s normal because the bladder can get backed up. Any thoughts on that?? They got a great picture of the goods. Only my sister knows for now, doing a reveal in about 3 weeks!!
My VERY wiggly fetus was a challenge to photograph today, but seems to be perfectly healthy and growing at a fast rate! 15oz. I have to (more like get to) go back in two weeks to get better pictures of the heart.
ETA: Anterior placenta, as suspected! The OB said I’ll feel movement...eventually.
Re: AW: Ultrasound Thread!
One of my unofficial ultrasounds from work. This was last week - 15 weeks exactly.
