So DS1 had been telling me for a week his throat hurt but he also had a runny nose and cough so I just chalked it up to whatever virus he had. I finally took him in this past weekend cuz he complained his ears hurt and I know if he's complaining then it's an ear infection. He definitely had a double ear infection but they also swabbed for strep and the quick swab came back negative. They just called and the longer culture showed positive. Poor kid! I should have listened from the beginning.
soooooooo I have a problem. I have been lusting after this wrap for months. I finally reached out to the chick, and she's willing to part with it for like 30% of the original retail cost. I WANT it.
But, I also have 2 lillebabys, 2 ring slings, 2 stretchy wraps, and an ergo. like, I am never going to use all of those. Granted I don't love one of my ring slings so I could sell that. and I could probably sell one of my stretchy wraps too. Buuuuut I can't decide. WAH!

@livinthesunnylife the ergo is already going back to my SIL because it was a lend - so that's out! I think I am going to try to sell the ring sling I don't love. Maybe one of my stretchy wraps too, but they are two different fabrics, one is a little warmer than the other, so maybe not.
Seriously, it is a problem.
August '18 March Siggy Challenge - You had ONE JOB
@hardlyhannah Maybe I don't understand because I live on the sun. But I have a regular Tula and a Coast and I would sell my regular one in a heartbeat because you can always add a layer to keep the kid warm enough. Cooling off is the real concern.
@livinthesunnylife it’s more because the embossed is so beautiful. I couldn’t part with it. Selling my Sakura bloom RS will fund over half the wrap so I’m good with that! And she’s open to payment plans so I’m thinking I put down a deposit and then try to sell. There’s a couple of moms on my local baby wearing page looking for a linen RS right now so I’m hoping it will be an easy sell. I’m the second owner so I’m going to offer up the Sakura for a steal
August '18 March Siggy Challenge - You had ONE JOB
@hardlyhannah, this is exactly why I'm just going to stick with my ring sling that I love. I think I could easily become addicted to wraps/carriers and spend wayyyy too much. Especially for a third and last baby.
Okay but do I really need to register for more than one? I currently have the Lillebaby All Seasons on my registry (since I also live on the sun) but was between that and the Tula Free to Grow. Does it make sense to register for both or will the All Seasons cover me for, err, all seasons? I hate to ask for multiple ones when I don't know if I/she will like BWing.

@legallykate no the all seasons will cover you. I got the embossed first, and love it but it was way too hot for the summer so that’s why I got the airflow. And it obviously snowballed.

Thank you for all your well wished and concern! It really really helped! I went this morning to get the Quad Screen. Well two different people tried to get a vein and were only able to get a few drops from my hand. So they sent me 35 minutes away to there other office to have them try. Why didn't they send me upstairs to the hospital lab? Who knows! Anyway the girl at the other office was able to get a vein in about 45 seconds and she told me to just go there from now on or tell them to script out my blood work. I ended up just taking the morning off because I was just frustrated with everything. I had Chick-fil-a for breakfast and stopped at bakery and got my favorite cookies.
@Brezzy1928 Fingers crossed for you that you get results this time! I only have one lab tech I allow to draw my blood cause she's good. Her brother died so she was out of town when I needed my first draw. I waited like a stalker and called every day to see if she was back yet. Good techs are worth it!
@Brezzy1928, I’m glad you finally got the draw (and delicious food). Maybe I missed it along the way, but do you have unusually difficult to find veins? Why can’t this office get it together?
@Brezzy1928 Do you have one vein that works better than others usually? I have had issues in the past because my veins aren't prominent but now I have one elbow vein that I always make them go to even though it is on my left arm and they usually want to do the right.

Today is my dad's 70th birthday and I've done nothing for him! I feel like such a heel, especially since I'm planning a party for my mom's birthday in May and flying out to Oregon to see her. I'm sure he doesn't care that much since he's never been a birthday guy, but I still feel like I should have done something and I have no idea what. My mom is taking him for mani/pedis (lol) and then out to dinner with their friends, so at least that's something, but I'm sucking as a daughter right now.

In the waiting room at the doctor's. Sweating buckets from nerves as usual.
My best friend's grandfather passed today, and I feel bad not going to the services but it's a big superstition that you're not supposed to mix life and death- pregnant women can't go to funerals, sit shiva, or go to cemeteries. I'm serious about any superstition involving my baby so I don't know what to do.
Me: 28 DH: 29 Married: 6/2016 TTC #1: 12/2016 Benched due to deployment- Off the bench 8/8/17!
I am always a hard draw. But I think the girls in the OBs office aren't that good at it anyway. Quest has no trouble getting a vein and neither did the other office today.
I was told I would have the results in "a few days" But I bet that means next week. My OBS office closes at noon on Friday so I highly doubt they will call before Monday.
@jsnakehole I am sorry for your friends loss. Do you think she will understand you not going? I would think anyone would be understandable since it is kinda for religious reasons. Can you send flowers or a plant or something instead?
@Brezzy1928 Ouch! Nothing more frustrating to me than incompetent phlebotomists, imho. Especially since it's such an important part of their jobs. My veins in the elbows always seem deep, like it actually starts to hurt from them pressing so hard trying to find it before sticking me. Hopefully your results come back good!
@jsnakehole Judaism has some interesting superstitions/customs. I'd be sad if I couldn't walk through cemeteries, they're the only nice places to "walk" here, all well paved, quiet, pretty, and no assholes to pester you. I'm sure your friend will understand you not going, but I agree that maybe some flowers or, not sure if you are allowed to take food to their home (as is the custom here in the Midwest) would be nice.
aww @derbysquirrel don't feel bad, I'm sure he doesn't mind! Maybe when you go in May bring him a special card or something and just apologize for the delay. It would obvs be pretty late but it would be a good sentiment. My dad doesn't get too involved in his birthday either.
@derbysquirrel any reason why the party isn't just for both of them if they both turn 70 this year? With birthdays just a couple months apart that seems really easy?
@livinthesunnylife Mostly because my mom is turning 65, and she is super into birthdays. She's far more social, and I'm inviting lifelong friends from out of state that she grew up with. My dad isn't into that kind of event, he'd rather just go fishing with a buddy. He gets awkward when he's made the center of attention. They just have very different personalities which is why doing something for my dad is so much harder.

LOL I have been thinking about take-home outfits for baby girl here and there (debating reusing the one both boys came home in or something different since she is my first girl). While browsing Carter's take-me-home outfits online, it just hit me that I am likely going to have a homebirth, so DUH, no taking-home necessary and therefore no taking home outfit necessary. I love that I didn't put that together until just now lolol.

I think "take home" outfits are really just "baby's first social media picture" outfits so I think you could still totally buy a cute outfit!

I don't quite get the "coming home outfit." It's just a photo op, right? Can't you dress up the kid for the photo when you're not trying to get discharged? I think I'll just throw the kid in whatever is easiest, and take a cute picture after we get home.
For me it isn’t even all that... yes I’ll take a pic but it’s mpre like ‘the very first outfit’ (bc in the hospital I leave them in the hospital issue stuff) and my knowledge that this was the special thing they wore when we first took them home with us. It’s an outfit I’ll save, forever, and will remember Just like I remember their first Christmas outfit, first bday.
It’s important to me, not because of the photo just because I find it special. Not frilly or fancy, but something soft and baby and special to them. If it isn’t something you care much about that’s ok too! My mom still has our coming home outfits and I appreciate it
My sis is having a boy!! She’s a little sad she said (it’s her 3rd boy and they are done) but she says she’s ok.., I feel bad bc I know of it was flipped (me boy her girl) I’d be really bummed. But her boys are so cute and my boys’ bffs so it’ll be fun to have another lil guy to add to the mix!
It turns out the services will likely be during conferences, so I wouldn't be able to go. I told her I could come by this weekend if she wants, and to let me know if her family needs anything.
We announced on Facebook today after my appointment. Everyone has been really nice, which is cool. I feel so relieved that we have another appointment behind us. Next up- anatomy scan!

You guys. I don’t know where else to bitch about this. I fucking HATE mealtime with my son. Every single night it’s the same damn thing. He won’t eat or does so at the pace of a glacier and just now he wiped broccoli on my cheek for no reason. So, I left the table and am laying down in my room with the doors shut because I’m so pissed. I know it seems small but it’s like this every single night. I’m at my wits end.
@ladygali Sorry, remind me again how old he is? Does he eat well at other meals? I just dealt with this with my 16m old and I figured out he hated his high chair. I use the clip on chair on the bar counter now and he chows like a champ. I feel your pain though, it is so frustrating to just want to feed them dinner and get it thrown at you or on the floor.
@ladygali I totally sympathize, my DD only wants snacks and getting her to eat an actual dinner is super frustrating, she gets up and runs around many times and I feel like I’m just yelling constantly.
@livinthesunnylife he will be 4 in a few weeks. He’s never liked to eat, says it’s “boring.” We ditched the high chair about a year ago and he does ok at the table but we have to constantly threaten a time out if he gets up.
@melissaf22 yep, I hear you. It’s so frustrating. I wonder if he needs to eat earlier, like 4:30, and then bed at 6:00. But I can’t get it together to feed him that early. I don’t know what to do, I just hate this time of day and it makes me super anxious.
@ladygali my nephew isn’t the best eater, but my SIL gave all the kids these, and he loves it. She puts a small toy as the prize, usually. DS loves his, but he just likes having containers for his food.
