I love minivans. I don't understand the hate at all! I'm not in the market for a new car, but if I were I'd totally consider one, even with only one kid. I'm also secretly coveting the new electric VW bus.

Haha @ecwk to be fair I don’t WANT to be car shopping but I got totally screwed in November so now it looks like I have to. I love my expedition and I don’t want it to be dead.
Also, I’m 50% Pinterest Mom and 50% lazy af mom. There’s a best of both worlds out there for everyone haha. Baby girl CFS will probably come home in a fancy onesie and leggings because I’m so excited to have all of the girl things.
I've started drinking coffee again this week. I went from a pot a day to maybe a cup a week in the first trimester, but now I'm drinking almost a cup (mug, not 4oz "cup") each day. I got a "to-go" cup from the dentist this afternoon which is a little larger than the amount I've been having, and I am spinning! I am antsy and jittery in a way that I haven't felt off a cup of coffee in... forever, probably. I'm home alone, but keep getting up to pace back and forth, and when my mom called me she asked me to speak more slowly. At least DH is going to be home in a few minutes and then we can go to scrimmage.

Gerber brand sleep and play zip ups were amazing for the first 6 months. Love them.
Buttons or snaps all down each leg/crotch are the devil. Avoid at all costs
Going home outfit- +1 for Comfort over style. Soft, cute sleeper/ onesie/pants is all you need. If the outfit has more then 2 pieces I'm out. Most newborns are so little that all clothes fit them awkwardly until they bulk up a bit.
More skin to skin time, less outfits for the win once everybody is home.
@derbysquirrel I'm back on coffee too. Was completely off of it and only maybe having a soda a few days a week during first trimester. Now back to a single mug a day but definitely want more. I miss that "can't sit still" feeling when I'm feeling like I can even get off the couch in the evenings now!
Trying to catch up! Work has just been way too busy to be on much during the day! Going home outfit - I had a one piece blue/gray striped Burts Bees brand footie with a matching hat. I didn’t go crazy, but it was cute and comfortable! He was born in late May in Michigan - we lived in just onesies around the house with an a&a blanket over him for most naps. Otherwise onesie with light pants or a romper on really hot days. At night I swore by the gowns at night - we got a ton of them hand me downs and they were SO nice for MOTN diaper changes. That plus the swaddle.
@calimom2524 The Sienna is a great choice, long lasting, and high quality vehicle. Then again I'm biased, my husband's plant makes them here in Indiana. My in-laws have a 2003 Sienna with almost 250,000 miles and it's still going strong.
I don't ever want a van, but I will admit to requesting one when I get my spring-time maintenance on my truck. Who knew you could cram so many flowers into the back of an old Sienna, and they don't get wind blown all the heck like they would in the bed of my truck. =>
Haha @derbysquirrel DH is totally trying to convince me to get the VW bus.
I'm doing a minivan. I'll have 3 kids 3 and under and 2 under 2 for 10 whole months, which means I'll have 3 in proper carseats for at least 18 months to 2 years. Anything else with a third row is useless with carseats installed in the second row. We brought 3 stages of carseats to test drives for the sienna, odyssey, and pacifica. The sienna was terrible with 3rd row access if you have two rear facers in the second row, which we would, so it is a no-go. Either of the other 2 would work. The 2018 odyssey has amazing second row seats with the best access to the third row, but I liked everything else about the Pacifica better. DH likes the reliability of the Honda though. We'll probably go with whichever we can get a better deal on. I want very specific options, and we built them both online and they were about the same price so whichever I can get cheaper will be the winner. I'm going to run this fucker into the ground. I hate car shopping with a passion and don't want to do it again for a long time.
I also can't buy stuff for this baby yet...we're in disney world this week, and I saw a super cute baby's first Christmas ornament with Mickey Mouse on it and I wanted it for a hot second but couldn't bring myself to buy it.

I’ve always been the opposite in this! So many people told me to get zippered sleepers, so I did, but with middle of the night diaper changes, I hated them! You have to unzip the whole thing just to get to the diaper, which then wakes baby up more than just the diaper and legs exposed from the snaps. *adds more snap crotch sleepers in tiny sizes to my shopping list*

Also a huge fan of the gowns. That’s what DS slept in the most
See, I never woke DS up to change a diaper. I’d change him if he woke up, but I never woke him when he was already sleeping. I also didn’t wake him to nurse MOTN - if he woke up he nursed, but if he didn’t we both slept. He was STTN in 5-6 hour stretches by 6 weeks-ish. We swaddled him, so when he woke up the process of unswaddling kept him awake, and unzipping the entire sleeper didn’t make a difference. I also swear by the Gerber & Carter’s-Walmart brand zip up sleepers. DS was too skinny for most pants to stay up on him, and he wore sleepers and one-piece rompers 99% of the time, until he was crawling.
@elsieisamoocow I could barely get the snaps to line up correctly in the daytime, let alone in the dark the night. I will bust the ones I have out for this next babe and give it another shot. I may have to practice on a stuffed animal to get speedy with it lol.
@derbysquirrel I got a minivan last May even tho I had 1 kid and no plans at the time for a second. I LOVE it. I traded in my expedition (which I liked at the time) with 0 regrets. Also I went cold turkey from caffeine after I got bfp and this week I started drinking 1 cup per day again. It has really helped make me a better and more productive person. @elsieisamoocow we only used sleepers that buttoned because of ds feeding tube, but now they have sleepers that zip from the top AND bottom! So you can unzip the bottom for just a diaper change (or for nicu parents the wires, and feeding tube parents the tube/wires can come out the bottom!) So freaking handy and more versatile!! Sorry I got really excited when I found this out
@meeks2020 Oh that is really exciting! I just kept DS in onesies in the nicu for the wires, but that's good to know!
@melprop I never woke DS to change a diaper either, but there's the sleepy hungry baby and then there's the wide awake sleepy hungry baby

I was fine using SO’s truck. It seats six. We would’ve managed. He could’ve kept his new challenger. Lol. But it was him that wanted all the room. And our musts were the two captain chairs in the middle and a 3 seater backseat bench. I love how the third one is real seating. Not a hard afterthought. But it still folds down flat.
Ive always drove a four door truck. So. Big suv life was never on my radar. But damn. I love it. It’s so family friendly. A million USB ports for charging. Triple Climate control. The captain chairs recline a lot. I’m loving it. Seriously. Moms of 3 or more. You must venture out. #NoRagrets lol
Now that I seemingly don't require 23hrs of sleep anymore, I'm going to have to start forcing myself to stay up until at least 10pm. This getting up at 4am crap is for the birds.
Good morning everyone! Sorry to those missing sleep this morning! We brought both kinds of sleepers to the hospital when DS was born, 2 with zippers, 2 with snaps. Size NB and 0-3 each type. I was happy we did it that way because, like others have mentioned, the NICU wires can sneak out between the snaps on the jammies and it was easier to just unsnap the upper body for skin to skin while we were trying to figure out breastfeeding.
We swaddled E until he was about 3 weeks old, after that he would just have way too much fun 'escaping' so the point of the swaddle was lost. Then we did zipper at night but snaps during the day.
So we swaddled DS in the Velcro ones. He needed it. But we toured a daycare the other day and the Director said swaddling isn’t safe anymore and they don’t do it? I haven’t looked it up yet though.
Unless thats just their policy to be super safe ( my mom watched DS until he was 3 so I don’t have the daycare baby experience)
@scottishlass1213 - our day care said the same thing about swaddling! DS was out of a swaddle by then so nbd for us but the director said it's because what if baby decides that's when it's time to roll over, they don't want the liability. No blankets either until they're in the toddler classrooms. So we sent sleep sacks and DS seemed to like those.
My school is by a major road so between late drop offs and the snow, there's a ton of traffic right now. My classroom faces out onto the Main Street and some asshole has been laying on his horn for the last five minutes. I'm seriously about two seconds away from leaning out my window and yelling "Kids are trying to learn math and shit, dickbag!"

Well I just called my insurance because I had some time this morning and found out the hospital grade breast pump is only available to people who work at our two headquartered offices. Lame.
So for me, I can get a manual pump at 100% covered or an electric pump at 75% covered after deductible. Super lame. I’m going to get it but I’m pretty annoyed that I’ll havr to pay. I feel for you ladies who don’t have coverage at all, that sucks I’m sorry.
August '18 March Siggy Challenge - You had ONE JOB
@mrsbubbles-2 that makes sense! I’ll have to do the sacks then. I did like they said they make them sleep with the lights on as well. Good point also I think DS was out of the swaddle by 3 months so that may not even matter at daycare anyways by the time I go back to work.
@dirtanddiamonds and @amac12999 I went to four stores on Sunday and peed at all but the last one. Not because I didn't have to go but because I was "making a stand"!
@jsnakehole Oh man that is funny! Plus dickbag is an underused insult in my opinion.
Just wanted to chime in on baby outfits. This baby will wear the same sleeper home that DS did (white, blue, orange stripes) because matching ha
And our favorite sleepers for babies were the gowns at night! So so so easy. We also did a Velcro swaddle (up until 5 months when he started rolling over) or sleep sack (maybe until 7-8 months?) over it. This time I’ll still swaddle but try not to for as long, at least at night, because weaning DS off of it was tough. He started sleeping on his stomach at 5 months and always did much better at night after that.
It’s windy AF and snowing heavily here. Thank GOD I do not have work today because DS is back to being awful at night. Was up from 11-2 or so?? Who even knows. Was ready to jump ship to a hotel and leave the boys together. Times like this really scare me about having a second
My boys came home in the same going home outfits - it was neutral, a Carters white and yellow duck onesie, footed white pants and cardigan, and little duck hat (was trying to find a pic to screenshot for you but its not on my IG). We recreated the same exact picture of DH smiling with each boy in the carseat on the dining table right when we got home. New house now so can't recreate it exactly but anyway I am debating between reusing the same going home outfit, because it's kind of special for each kid to wear the same one, or doing something different since this one is a girl. Thoughts?
We are also going minivan shopping! We test drove the Honda Odyssey and Chrysler Pacifica so it will be one of those two.
Also, we are planning a little 3-day/2-night trip with the kids in May - last trip as a family of four before it gets tough to travel all over again. We are planning to go to Great Wolf Lodge and the Toronto Zoo. I am excited! Just hope it isn't craziness in my third trimester.
@elsieisamoocow I totally agree, I HATE the zipper sleepers! You have to take the whole thing off to change baby whereas with the snaps you can just take the legs out. @hardlyhannah that sucks! My insurance doesn't cover a pump but my best friend is due next month and she's not going to be BF so she's going to get her prescription filled and "loan" it to me.
I'm team "I hated the gowns" because my kids always got their legs out of them and then they had bunched up fabric under their knees or thighs. Those swaddle sack things with the snaps saved my life with DS2, I'm pretty sure it's the only reason he slept as well as he did.
AFM this morning I'm still adjusting to walking in this stupid boot, it's so annoying and I use different muscles so now I also have sore muscles as well as a broken foot. I'm also doing an ethics training for work and it's all about sex vs. gender, I feel very educated for a gender troll right now.
Well, DS still sounds like a barking seal so it’s a tv in our jammies kind of day. At least he is into Mr. Rogers these days, so I don’t feel like he’s watching crap.
When DS was a baby, he would Houdini himself out of a swaddle from day one, so we used the Velcro swaddles with his arms out for a month or two and then did sleep sacks. Those things are great and I loved never having to wean from the swaddle.
Those Velcro swaddles are amazing but I never heard of the Ollie one before so will look into it for sure. I’m team zipper! Trying to button those non zippered fuckers MOTN exhausted, leaking milk, probably covered in spit up. NO THANKS!
