Re: Weekly Randoms 2/19

  • @ecwk Mindhunter is awesome. I've also heard good things about Altered Carbon, but neither of them are kid-friendly in the slightest.
I started Mindhunter but couldn’t get through much. May give Altered Carbon a try! These shows are strictly for post DS bedtime so we’re good. Anything to get a break from what he loves to watch!!

  • I always hated the idea of being a princess. I've never wanted to be a public figure, and your life is too beholden to duty and country. No thanks. Being a mom has a lot more freedom. I'd say you're doing alright.

  • I would love to be a princess. But without all the responsibility. Of course. Lol.

Let’s see. My usual 90 min drive, ended up taking 2:15. Rain. Fog. 31 degrees. People passing me like it was just any normal day. Crazies.

Then I got parked. Walked across the ice covered parking lot. Fell. Walked back to the car to cry. Ruin my makeup. And now just sitting here. Trying to swallow my pride and walk in all covered in icy slush. I’m so over winter. And his plane is about an hour late. So fun times.

Didn’t I say I’m over today. Truly. Need to get in my bed. Over it.  :'(
  • @ecwk We're going through The Office again, cause it's awesome and we do it a few times a year.  I'm also watching Friends while DH is at work and I'm doing stuff around the house

Ugh, winter drivers are the worst! I try to avoid driving when there is snow on the ground as much as possible. Hopefully DH will drive home.

  • I took yesterday off because DH is starting a new job next week and I wanted to get some adult time in beforehand. It was lovely, we saw black panther, had a nice lunch and didn't have to worry about a babysitter.

I am so far behind on these bump boards though.

For tv shows I just saw that perception now has 3 seasons on hulu so I'm watching that after the Olympics finish up. I also really like the magicians, but I did think the first season was a bit dark/intense.
  • @kcdo1010 - I'm so sorry for the loss of your grandma. That's so awesome that she wants you to go to Disney!

Not interested in being a princess but if I could borrow Kate's wardrobe for like a week or two that would be fantastic! Although I'm a total klutz so her designer dresses would come back with like mustard stains or something on them...

@dirtanddiamonds - oh honey I'm sorry. The weather is such crap. Are you ok from your fall? Did SO make it home?

  • @ecwk I second the Peaky Blinders recommendation. Awesome show with really good acting. DH and I just finished Travelers. It was really good. But there are only 2 seasons and what is happening next as far as production is up in the air.

It is raining so much here I am pretty sure the city is going to be completely underwater by Sunday. I suppose it is better than snow but, everything is dirty and squishy.

@kcdo1010 Sorry to hear about your grandma. That was a really nice and thoughtful thing for her to do.
  • The Killing is a crime drama, so if you’re into that, you’ll love it!

    Andplusalso, Joel Kinnaman.

  • Taking the littlest cat to get neutered today. The prices went way up from when my last cat got neutered, even after I declined all the optional stuff. I wish vet care were cheaper, but I'm glad we have a good vet to take care of our boys.

I have such a crush on him and was super excited to see him in Altered Carbon. It's so good although his character on The Killing is better imo.

    @mrsbubbles-2 agreed! Man/woman crush Friday!

    Hello from Detroit!

  • @jsnakehole Do you have a low cost spay and neuter clinic in your area? Our vet (who I LOVE!) was going to charge us 700$ to spay our kitten. I love the vet, and I love my cat, but I can't spend that. I went to a low cost clinic and it cost us 70$ and they did a great job.
  • You guys, I started "Manhunt" last night on Netflix - dramatization of the 1990s FBI profilers looking for the Unabomber. It is so amazing, sucks you in and edge of your seat - I watched two episodes and want to binge the rest!

  • @jsnakehole - aw, good thoughts and healing vibes to your littlest boy today!
@hezzer78 - That's a huge cost difference! When we got my dog spayed I already didn't like our vet (we've switched since) He said that it's going to cost extra if she's in heat. So we waited longer to make sure she wasn't. Got the call, she's done, she was in heat so it's going to cost more. Right.
@rocknrollmom and @msmonalisavito - I don't know who that is but I just added The Killing and Altered Carbon to my list of things to watch ;)

  • Paid off all my student loans today!
Just in time for the new baby.
  • @Firemanswife11 wohoo, jealous! Man I hate those damn loans. No where close to paying mine off, that’s awesome!
  • @hezzer78 we had a low cost clinic in my neighborhood but the doctor was the worst. A cat I had about 6 years ago (my Thor, who was the sweetest best cat to ever exist) kept getting URIs and the doctor just disregarded all of my questions and concerns. It turns out my cat had a lymphoma in his nose and was too weak to operate by the time we got a quality vet.

I'm happy to pay more for good quality care (my pets are my babies), I just feel like the prices are skyrocketing. Getting my little guy fixed is costing three times the cost of fixing my big cat.

  • The Killing was really good, but it was written and shot in such a way that I think most attention span handicapped Americans would have difficulty following along. It was slow, methodical, plodding at times, and you had to remember a lot of characters and fill in the plot as you went. Then again it's a Swedish show originally, so that might explain why. Still really good, though. I think that's in general why I appreciate British/foreign tv shows a bit more, a bit more cerebral.

Mindhunters was similar I think, it started off slow, and then suddenly got binge-worthy.
  • @neeraja_k just reminded me when she said British tv shows. Sherlock! Such a good show. I loved it.

  • Got exposed to the flu today. I had a respirator mask, gown, and gloves on the whole time and felt pretty good about it. Then my boss informs me that she thinks I should go get tamiflu. I was thinking, " you know I'm probably at higher risk just taking the elevator with other people than I am from catching the flu from this guy." But I just shook my head and said I would think about it. Definitely not going there though.

Omg lol I thought you were talking about me for a second, I was like first of all my wardrobe is not that great and second of all I have zero designer dresses  :D
