@derbysquirrel My mom came out the week before my due date for 2 weeks. I ended up being induced at 41w. I changed her flight so she could meet DS the day she flew out. I regret having her come out so early and missing seeing him more, but I also know having her with me during the attempts with the gel at the hospital and helping me pass those last few days was priceless.
@derbysquirrel - I think your time frame sounds pretty awesome! I realized I needed more help in about the 2nd - 4th week home, that was when we had worked our way through our freezer meals and DH was going back to work.
@calimom2524 - congrats on your first warning lol! I apparently restricted someone's enjoyment of the site. Guess what, Bump, your obnoxious pop up ads and crappy app are inhibiting my enjoyment of your site.

So, after getting there 20 minutes early, told to fill out 12 pages of medical history paperwork they already have on file through every other doctor I've gone to in that medical system, and then made to wait for 45 minutes in the waiting room with really sketchy people....today's meeting with the MFM didn't happen.
I'm so glad they never told me I was just going to meet with an inattentive, caffeine riddled dietitian who kept sniffling her nose who literally wasted my time and money by telling me shit I already knew about diet and numbers, and was already following. She didn't even want to look at the blood sugar diary I've done over the past week and a half, that my OB told me to do and take in. She didn't even really want to talk about it at all, it wasn't "official". She literally just handed me some workbooks to read and fill out for my next appointment in a couple of weeks. On top of that, she didn't even want to answer the questions I'd thought about, written out, and brought with me. I'm extremely disappointed.
So afterwards, I went to Le Target, got my baby welcome bag, it's got some neat stuff and nice coupons in it. I went to Sally's and got new shampoo, conditioner, and a new flat iron for my hair (mine's on it's last legs), went vegetable crazy at Fresh Thyme, and went to Culver's and ate an Oreo concrete mixer as my last meal as a free woman before I have to get depressing on the taming the GD.
Hmph.
Edited to add: Most of my numbers fell well within their guidelines (<95 fasting, <120 2hr post meal) so whatever.

Wow my mind is blown that I didn’t get one too. You could always appeal it and say it’s unfair given that others didn’t receive the same warning...I did that in the past and had a couple warnings removed.
@calimom2524 with those kind of warnings, I think they only give them out if you specifically say they should go to another site/community. Obviously the BGs don’t want that, so they remove it and use that as an excuse for the warning.
They should definitely keep those threads as a warning to others. Not that anyone who does a drive by with "Tell me my baby's gender!" will look at past threads, but still...

I missed the last half, did OP get salty and things went south? Can’t believe they would remove a whole thread over a bit of snark and some amazing gif talent
@derbysquirrel if you're nervous about the timeframe you can ask your OB when they will induce if you go over and plan around that. Also just an FYI my induction took 3 days so it's not always a quick process.
@neeraja_k that sucks, can you talk to your OB and get refered to someone else?
We had a freak snow front come in last night, so I used that as an excuse to not go anywhere today. I slept a ton, but now I'll probably be up half the night I had a craving for gummy worms, so DH was kind enough to run to the store for me. He's so willing to do any stupid thing I ask that I need to be a little careful not to take advantage.

Chugged my glucose drink on the way to drop off DS and now waiting at the lab for blood draw. I don’t even like pop or juice because it’s too sweet, so that drink on an empty stomach is so gross to me. I’m for sure stopping for something for breakfast before heading to work!
I was woken up by the most excruciating headache last night. I was okay for a little bit when I got up but now it seems to be back. I'm debating going to the local treat and release to get checked out to make sure this isn't a sign of a sinus infection or anything.

DD1 has her first ear infection. Apparently she was a hellacious nightmare for DH yesterday morning, and he assumed it was her 2 year molars which are almost in but still bother her a bit, so he gave her ibuprofen and sent her to school. Well the drugs had worn off by the time I picked her up and she was pissy. Finally she told me that "the inside of her ear hurt," so when DH got home he ran her to urgent care. He wouldn't even sit in the waiting room with her because he said it looked like a morgue in there lol. They sat in the hallway and watched movies on the tablet and she came home pretty happy with a sticker and a lollipop. Hopefully the drugs kick in quickly. I'm super happy she was able to tell us what was going on or we would have just kept giving her painkillers without antibiotics.
@neeraja_k Oh man that really sucks. Sorry to hear your appointment didn't go as you hoped. Can you see someone else?
@jsnakehole Sorry to hear about the headaches... do you have any other symptoms of sinus stuff?
I had a super bizarre dream last night that H and I were lost in Europe (Holland I think?) and we were trying to catch a flight to Germany, but we had our kitten with us. We stopped into this little cafe to have a coffee and figure out directions and I ordered a cinnamon roll as big as my head. Now that's all I can think about and I think that may need to happen sometime this week.
@hezzer78 I'm also not making an announcement on social media. There are some people I'm not ready to share with (this is mostly work related) and when I'm showing I won't be hiding my bump in photos or anything. I have so many 'friends' on FB and most of them aren't really friends so its none of their business.

ugh poor girl! Be warned, there's a prescription for ear infections called Omnicef that makes their poop a brick red color and it's terrifying if you don't know to expect it. I had a friend recently who had it prescribed and the pediatrician didn't tell her about that side effect so she panicked. I hope DD feels better soon!
I just realized that at some point my feet won't be visible from the aerial view lol. My hdbd pictures might have to actually just be of my bump in like a month ish at the rate this monster belly is growing.
@neeraja_k I'm so sorry about your appointment. I just wanted to say that I had GD with my DD. I monitored my blood sugar and kept a diary as well (everything was always on target), but I never had to go to a MFM. Is this something you have to do? My OB just told me to keep a blood sugar diary which I brought to him every appointment, and that was it. I ate reduced sugar/sugar free items when available, and for something sweet I ate Life cereal with ice cold milk (something I still crave to this day), and spurlged every now and then.
I was really bummed when I was diagnosed, but I was glad that I was able to control it through just diet. DD ended up being born at 6 lbs. 4 oz. and healthy. I'm saying all this in hopes that it encourages you, and that you hang in there because in the end you'll have a beautiful baby and that's all that matters!
@ashleyandjody & everyone else, apparently it's the custom at this OB practice that once you're diagnosed as high risk (with GD especially) you get a High Risk OB (the MFM's) that work in conjunction with your regular OB. But honestly I feel like between my GP and my OB I could be taken care of so much better without the added stress and cost.
My GP was successfully managing my insulin resistance and closely monitoring my a1c and sugar levels, and she has been pleased with the progress I've made thus far. And my OB seemed fairly competent in how to manage it as well without all the fuss, and he was also pleased with the current state of my health.
Given how the dietitian "talked down" to me, I'm sure she's suited more for people who are new to the whole diabetes thing and in general are ignorant of their healthcare needs while pregnant. So for that I honestly think I'm beyond needing her services in particular. As far as the MFM, I have no idea. I don't even know which doctor I'll be meeting with, which is something I don't like already. I told my husband if I don't "click" with whoever they pair with me, I'm going to discuss it with my regular OB and see if he and my GP can just keep tabs on me instead. If it grows to something beyond what they feel they can handle, then we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
@neeraja_k i'm sorry you didnt have a great experience my OB practice also make you see a MFM if you are diabetic (although i am diabetic, i have to see one anyway for all sorts of reasons) ... regarding the dietitian... last pregnancy i hated my dietitian and the "advice" and meal plans she provided me, so i ignored all that- did what i knew to do to manage my diabetes... fudged the food logs she wanted me to fill out, and she was thrilled with my progress lol hopefully you can get a careplan that you are comfortable with

@neeraja_k - I'm so sorry that you're having such a negative experience! When I was diagnosed last pregnancy I certainly felt like you do - "You're diagnosed with XYZ. Here's the checklist we go through for people diagnosed with XYZ. Checklist item 1 is a nutritionist... go!" Annoying.
My MFM is a group of doctors, I have seen several different docs during the course of both my last and this pregnancy. So far they've ordered additional tests that my OB didn't like thyroid function and a 24 hour urine panel. They are also the practice that reviews all my additional ultrasounds and will coordinate with the fetal cardiologist for my fetal echo cardiogram later on. So it's more involvement later in the pregnancy, at this stage it just feels like another appointment that I have to take off time from work for...
@harleyquinn0621 Based on her reaction to fruit I'd already considered fudging my food logs concerning my fruit intake. So I'm glad I'm not the only rebel here.
She asked what a typical breakfast for me was, so I told her what I've been having of late that seems to work with my blood sugar amazingly: a toasted slice of whole wheat sourdough bread (I make it myself), liberally slathered with Amish butter and either homemade strawberry or blueberry-earl grey jam I made with Splenda...about a half cup of fruit (lately it's been strawberries, melon, or fresh pineapple), either turkey lunchmeat (clutch your pearls, ladies!) or cold sausage patties I'd cooked a few days earlier, and a 500mg Metformin tablet. And with this type of breakfast that honestly sounds really high GI, my 2hr post meal testing shows an average of around 90-95.
When she heard about my fruit intake she kind of gave me a disapproving look and reaction. Well you know what, fuck her. Strawberries and watermelon seem to have less of an impact on my blood sugar levels when eaten in a 1/2c portion with protein and other foods, than having a glass of whole milk does in place of the fruit surprisingly.
I think different people react differently to different foods. I clearly cannot eat refined sugars and expect to pass any sort of test. Bananas and apples also seem to affect me the same unfortunately, so I eat them sparingly. Which is sad, I miss my green nanners.
@neeraja_k diabetes is a very individual disease ... some can eat oatmeal, my bloodsugar would go through the roof if i tried. they are so used to handing out a one size fits all plan, that they don't take into consideration your mileage might vary ... i walked in with an A1C of 9.5 bc i didnt know i was diabetic, once i found out i was, I knew how to handle it- it runs in my family so i'm not uneducated on it, just didnt get tested often enough to catch myself ...... 2 months later my A1c was 6.5 - another month and it was 4.8 and they took me off insulin. had i followed the dietitian's advice that would have never happened. so take what they say with a grain of salt. It sounds like you know how your body reacts and you are watching it- so as changes happen as the pregnancy progresses you'll see it
