@hopefuljj I did not do an ERA, I was tempted BUT I did get pregnant on the fresh transfer with the two...so part of me prayed that wouldn't be a problem. You have been through so much and knowing you have the normies you want to make sure everything is on point and good to go! Listening to what jamie is going through makes me rethink it all - like WTH!!! So many unknowns still!! I certainly dont want to be the debbie downer and tell you not to do it if you're ready. You've worked so very hard to get to this spot you want to know you're good to go!!

@hopeful_mom I know:( but the thing is, how will I ever know I’m good to go? I’ve been on this IVF train for almost a year and haven’t tried to transfer at all yet so I have no idea If I would have implantation issues. If I really wanted to be sure because of my auto immune issues I’d go spend $6,000 and meet with dr Jeffery Scher who isn’t even available for 3 months, and do all the crazy testing he does:-/ and after looking into that and talking to them and pricing stuff out, I had to decide that I can’t do everything... I’m just trying to decide what is enough. Ugh. I was at peace not doing the ERA and doing all the other stuff I am doing but now I’m second guessing. Good grief. I don’t know but I’m driving myself crazy.:(. My niece is great:) thank you for asking! She’s almost 6 months old!!! Which is so crazy....

Hi ladies, quick question? What’s the likelihood of ovulating prior to ER? I just remembered when I did IUIs I was certain (felt) I ovulated about 30-33 hours after the trigger shot. It should be the same right?

Wow what a busy night here ladies! I was sleeping and missed it all!

@ilky ok so for me I did need my follies a bit bigger. Anything below 19 didn’t mature by ER (and my clinic didn’t offer in vitro maturation of eggs). My day 4 embie we transferred in cycle 3 came from a follie that was 24mm the morning of trigger. However I think CHR takes them earlier and matures them in vitro to get the higher success rates.
But we’re all different. As you’ve not got to ER before it’s difficult to say for you

@hopefuljj how many frosties do you have again? You could do one after the EFT, and if it’s not successful then do ERA before any more? Kind of a compromise?

@jamieh2000 glad you have a plan. I think it makes complete sense. Though my heart would also be crying at yet another delay. And don’t worry, I’ll still be here well after April.

AFM last week was a bust on so many counts. Next week is crazy busy - we see the building authorities, the lawyer, then I see my rheumatologist, the haematologist, two specialist OBs and one of these fancy 4D pregnancy scan places (the last three to see if anyone can do the local monitoring). Hopefully also an appointment at the genetic testing place too. Oh and I still work full time, as well as trying to write my thesis - I have a call with my professor on Monday morning. So Sunday is thesis day.
Unfortunately is for an MBA so writing it on “the treatment of DOR” is apparently not an option

I mean, would have killed two birds with one stone!

Thanks ladies! Another delay sucks obviously but I know it’s important to get this timing right. I just hope the next test will come back with a definitive result. I won’t be doing it a third time regardless.

@hopefuljj- please don’t let my situation freak you out! My RE said 85 percent come back with normal 110-116 hours of progesterone. I am just a very rare result. Trust me, I know what it’s like to think that everything is wrong since we have been thru so much, but you are really checking off a lot before transfer!! You motivated me to ask my RE if there was any other testing or things we could do. I asked about the medrol/doxy addition and she said it was kind of old school and didn’t give better results but agreed to add it. Like you, o just want to make sure we are doing everything possible to make this next transfer work!

@hopeful_mom- can’t belive how far you are! Now I just hope our pregnancies overlap even!! You are so kind to continue to cheer us on!

@ilky- good luck to other monitoring today and I hope the bw shows great estrogen!!

@emmasemm- wow busy week!! That’s interesting you have to write a thesis for an MBA. I don’t believe we do here in the US. Or my husband didn’t at least when he graduated in Dec. you are so on top on everything that it’s going to be stressful but you are going to get thru it all with flying colors!! And maybe we will be transferring together in April/may

Wow so much activity on this thread. @JamieH2000 I think you have a good plan. I would be the same and want to be sure as I can be before implanting anymore embryos. I too will prob still be here in April.

@emmasemm you certainly have a lot going on, but you are so very strong.

AFM, I still haven’t ovulated. My estrogen from last week to this week is exactly the same at 76...is that possible?? My AMH is also the same as year 2016 which means the supplements and the lifestyle change hasn’t helped at all. On the other side, we have selected a donor and now waiting for the next steps.

@ilky the ovulation time I believe can depend on how you trigger. Also it might matter if you’ve been taking ganirelex to not ovulate. The likelihood of ovulating before ER is very low but none the less I convince myself it is going to happen every cycle! So far it never has:). I follow a couple of ladies elsewhere where this has happened to them but it has never happened to any of the other ladies and I follow soooo many ladies! So it is pretty rare.

@emmasemm wow lady!! Talk about a busy week! Gosh it would have been so awesome if you could have written your thesis in DOR treatment

@Ilky I ovulated prior to ER despite being on ganirelix. My re assured me that it was a fluke but did monitor me more closely the next cycle. That month, though, I believe 3-4 other women in here ovulated prior to ER and were taking ganirelix. We wondered if it was a bad batch that we all got. Howeve, the next cycle was my best cycle and no early ovulation. Good luck!

@emmasemm too bad your thesis couldn’t have been on DOR. Any chance you could write about the business side of infertility?

My estrogen level has gone up and all 10 follicles are looking good. Dr. Said it’s not only the size it’s slso the e2 levels. They look at everything and don’t consider anything less than 35 mm or so as over matured. I have discomfort, and some pain and been feeling full so I think it must be sizes as I didn’t hear anyone else complaining about crampy pain. trigger is tonight and I’m so nervous about the whole ER as well as just waiting till Monday noon.

@hopefuljj that happened to me just now at another thread, I wrote long post and only a portion got posted. I kept thinking it was my stupid phone but then realized it was the emojis! So, if you noticed it only posts sections up to the first emoji in your message. I removed the emoji and it posted the entire thing.

@Kp214 my doctor monitors me very close (everyday) as well so I’m hoping it’s all going to be alright. The head nurse said I won’t ovulate prior to ER as I’m on ovulation suppressor (garinelex) unlike my iui cycles. I hope that’s true and I will be fine.

I'm trying to post again :-/ @emmasemm I can not remember what I wrote, haha!! I gave you a quick rundown on my embryo situation and noted that i should just figure out how to make a signature, or a spoiler or something like you ladies have done! I have 2 normal embryos. Took me a year of IVF to get them. 4 retrievals, 2 canceled cycles, and lots of empty follicles every cycle. I want to do the EFT for sure..I wish i could do both that and ERA at the same time :-/ Anytime I read about either test i just wish there was more research/reports on both of them. Blargh!

@JamieH2000I have some other ladies on my other feed who have also had similar results as you after doing an ERA :-/ It is super hard to know what to do. I was considering calling Igenomix and asking them to make an exception and let my doctor do a biopsy and have them test it, haha, they will be like, who is this chic?? But I'm going to do more reading and digging and will decide what I end up doing. And I do truly assume every single thing is wrong with me because i feel like the list just keeps getting longer and longer!! I know you know how i feel

What about if you do a Natural FET.....does ERA give insight for that? Does it also cause issue with implantation if you are trying naturally if you are pre-receptive? Not that I would ever get pregnant from sex (I'm literally laughing out loud at that preposterous thought) but just curious

Mine was .27 over a year ago. but my AFC is usually 3 so it might have gone down. Congratulations on picking out a donor!!! I hope the following steps will go quickly and be a super smooth process!!

Hello ladies!!!

I’ve been stalking for about a week and decided to post. This is my first IVF cycle and hopefully my last. DH and I had a failed IUI and went start to IVF. I started BCP about a week ago and I’m supposed to stop on the 19th. I start my stims on the 23rd. My blood work is scheduled on the 23rd as well.

My AMH with the IUI cycle was .251 very low. But my previous RE (that I had for my IUI cycle) said that my body reacted pretty good to the clomid. I had 3 mature follicles before I triggered. The 3 mature follicles were on my right ovary sizes 26, 24, and 17.5. My left ovary had one and it was 15.

I’m worried that since I had low AMH my new RE shouldn’t have put me on BCP. I’m not doing my bloodwork until Friday. He will see that I have low AMH. I hope the BCP doesn’t hurt anything.

I'm tentatively scheduled for retrieval the week of March 4th and transfer the week of April 1st.

@knottie3c77aa7e8fefe390 Welcome! And I’m very sorry you find yourself here :-/ first IVF is very exciting and I do hope it is your last! I’ve never done BC before a cycle, always estrogen priming instead. My first RE tried to put me on it before starting IVF and I never went back. Since then I have seen lots of DOR ladies have success after being on BCP so now I don’t feel as strongly as I had before! It really is different for everyone so the only way to know is to try. If you end up unhappy with your results you could consider doing a cycle priming with estrogen. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.
So your current RE has not seen your blood work yet? Did you share your AMH with your new RE prior to getting on this protocol? The blood work they do during s stim cycle or before baseline is often just E2, LH and FSH. What is the protocol they have you on? Good luck!

@hopefuljj Well that makes me feel better to know there has been a lot of success with women who have DOR. I actually didn’t even know I did until I looked online at my lab work. My previous RE didn’t even tell me. All he said once he got my blood work was he didn’t think IVF would be good for me because my blood was low. He didn’t elaborate. When he said my blood was low I was assuming my iron being that I’m slightly anemic. I got really annoyed with him after my IUI and changed RE.

When I had my consultation with my new RE, when he say my paper with my timeframe from the IUI at previous RE, he saw that I had 5 ovaries on one side and 2 one the other. He immediately said that by looking at those numbers it appears that I might have DOR. He did a lot of educating on the entire IVF procedure and DOR. I felt so much better.

I’m assuming since he mentioned that I probably have DOR then he would’ve assumed my amh was low. But we shall see. Hoping for the best.

I stop my BCP on the 19th and start my stims on the 23rd (same day as bloodwork). I’m taking the GonalF 900 (3) GonalF 300 (1) Menopur (20) Ganirelix Lupron Estradiol and endometrial. Those are the meds that has been prescribed to me.

I have children but they are much older 13 and 15. I’m 34.5 years old. I wasn’t planning on having anymore children but DH who I’ve been with for 12 years doesn’t have any. DH knew I didn’t want anymore as well. But He has made the statement that the only thing missing in his life is having his own child and that it will make his life complete. DH has very very very low sperm and morphology. He can’t have a baby the natural way. So I decided to do this for him.

Hopefully we are a success and I’m able to give my husband the gift of life.

Ahh I see. Well it is very nice of you to go through IVF for DH!! Especially with the DOR diagnosis. Hopefully you will have luck this cycle and can complete your family. I turned 37 this last month. No kids. Been trying since 2015. On the IVF train for about a year. Did a couple iui's before that. I can't think of anything in the world I want or have ever wanted even remotely as much as I want a child. I have been checking off the diagnosis during this journey as i discover them:-/ DH had a high number of fragmentation during his defrag test, he also has low numbers for the other 3 when he did sperm analysis...and most recently got diagnosed with a varicocele. so we do PICSI for fertilization. I have Hashimoto, am homozygous for MTHFR CR677T and have DOR. AMH level of .27. Never seen even the faintest BFP, except after testing the HCG trigger before egg retrieval. That's me in a nut shell!

@adc0417- While its frustrating all your hard work hasn't increased your AMH, I am also glad it hasn't gone down. I also think small changes (up or down) really don't mean much on the chances of IVF working. Hopefully all the supplements have helped the quality, which is much more important than quantity! Can you clinic induce a period to get started on the cycle?

@ilky- yay for a great follie count and good estrogen! So excited to see your update after ER today! Hope all goes smoothly and you get great news! Thinking of you!

@hopefuljj- So my understanding is that for the ERA, its only valid on the type of cycle you did (medicated, natural, stimulated). My guess would be I am also post receptive when we try naturally, but we would need another ERA to confirm them. I did do a stimulated (so more like natural) FET in Dec that failed.. so my guess is my lining responds pretty quickly to progesterone and I just need less time than average. I am happy to be doing the medicated FETs since so far we were able to get my lining to 9mm+ and its easier to plan with less monitoring than stimulated or natural transfers. I just really hope this next one comes back conclusive. Did you ever find out why NY won't let clinics do ERAs? it just seems so odd! I mean its not exactly a risky procedure or anything...ladies so endo biopsys all the time for other testing (like displasia, cancer, etc).

@knottie3c77aa7e8fefe390- good luck on your first IVF! It really is impossible to know how one will respond before you cycle. I was one of the ones where BC suppressed me too much and we had to cancel our first cycle. It doesn't happen to everyone, but I would just be prepared if the response isn't good to cancel. Since a different protocol can give you better results maybe.

@jamieH2000 thanks for explaining the ERA with different protocols:) I’m still not certain about the NY situation, my doctor uses Igenomix and she specifically said they don’t take biopsies from NY doctors. I emailed them, becaue why not. Hahaha! I was like, hey it’s the annoying girl always asking PGS questions (that’s where all my embryos were tested) is there anything I can do to get you to do an ERA test/analysis if my RE does one during a mock cycle? We shall see, I’m sure they will just say no or ignore the email.

@JamieH2000 ok well looks like Igenomix already emailed me back! They said “Unfortunately, we are still in the process of approval from the NYS. We recommend that you speak with your physician in New York and ask him to provide you with recommendations of any doctor that he might work closely with either in NJ, PA, or CT and have the ERA done performed in a nearby state. At this point we are still waiting and we wouldn't like your process to be hold by the licensing.”

so they need something from NYS I guess to be able to do the testing??

Does your RE think the ERA is needed or does she think the EFT will be enough? If you want a trip to CHicago, I know my RE would do it for you and you can stay with me for free!

@JamieH2000 @hopefuljj @Hopeful_mom thank you beautiful ladies! I’m back from the ER laying in my bed with a heat pack. It went very smooth and I don’t remember anything. I was sedated before going into the op room when woke up I was laying in bed. They got 9 eggs! Out of 10 follies. I’m praying all are excellent quality and all will fertilize. I won’t get another update until tomorrow, so fingers crossed. Thank you so much for all your support!

@JamieH2000 my RE is totally not into me getting one. Hahaha, she says doing EFT she can get behind but ERA she says “if I really want to” I can persue it. I’m back and fourth on what I will do. Your offer to come to Chicago actually tempts me more than anything else! Hahahah, it would be so fun to hang:).

I should ovulate soon and then 10 days later will do EFT and a “couple of scratches” to clear out old lining.... I worry my lining won’t thicken after that but we shall see! I don’t actually know if we will do a natural or medicated cycle. Estrogen seems to make my eczema go really crazy, all the stims did actually, I wonder if that is bad for implantation??
and ovulation is SOOOOO late for me after IVF!!! Literally don’t get a positive OPK till like CD 25 now. It used to always be the 17th or 18th. So I’m just waiting.

Hopefully I will get back some blood work this week too. My TSH level is ok so that’s good, no adjustment necessary on my levo.

Hope everyone is enjoying the Olympics:) I’ve been a complete addict!

@hopefuljj- that is hard picking the gender! I would feel the same! Are they rated the exact same? Maybe leave it up to the embriologist? Hopefully you will have one of each in the end!

@ilky- that is a great FERT rate! My RE said that usually only 75% of eggs retrieved are mature and only 75% of those fertilize, so you are beating the odds!

AFM- well ladies, the nurse finally emailed back and we are on the transfer schedule for 4/30! its 10 weeks away and feel sooo far! But with my ERA on 3/21, its only 5.5 weeks after and thats about as much time as we need to get to a transfer. Any ideas on how to pass the time? March/April are usually not nice months in the midwest. We are going to redo our flooring, but I need some fun activities to keep me busy until 4/30!

Yay for a date!!! That is so exciting!!!!! I know it seems like forever away but you’ve totally got this! I have a reeeealllly good feeling about this!! A gal I follow did SO MANY puzzles while she was in the waiting game...I think it really helped. I recommend crafting personally. Some coloring in one of those fun relaxing adult coloring books or maybe some polymer clay crafting? My sister got me a journal/coloring book with inspirational quotes and labeled pages with different things to write about like, baby name ideas, positive (fertility)affirmations, positive thoughts, negative thoughts etc. so I try to pick that up to pass the time and either add baby names or color or do whatever I feel good about doing at the moment:) I just added some affirmations that I looked up:)

@hopeful_mom lol they commentators totally do jinx it sometimes!! I’m so tired! I stayed up watching the womens short program and didn’t get to bed till just before 1am! I wake up at 6:15!!! This insanity has to end soon!!
@kp214 I have not asked yet if my clinic lets me choose....also have not asked grade. I just don’t want to think about it! Hahaha, cuz if the grade sucks of the embryo from this last round I will be so sad...I think the grade of the one from my 3rd retrieval was OK...I’m just living in the land of ignorant bliss right now! Insane I know but it’s been too much knowledge and info for too long:). Maybe I’ll just leave it all you to them!
