I forgot my workout clothes so I came up to the park to walk and it's pretty nice outside today. Mid 40s or so, lots of sun. This might be good for my mental health. Lol. I had such a bad yucky symptom day yesterday, I was pumped to workout and then I realized my bag did not have my clothes.
@mrsbubbles-2 Thanks! And yes I did. High risk doc said NO sex - he said he's seen way too many cerclages get infected because the women had sex and he doesn't recommend it. He said a woman in his practice lost her baby last month because of an infected cerclage and he just doesn't want that to happen so it's better to be cautious. I can totally respect that, so we won't be doing that.
He said activity is great - nothing high impact - no jumping, heavy weights, etc. But the belly dance is fine! So I'm sooo happy!!!
He DID say we are ok to go to Spain (RE said to cancel our trip) - so now we have to make a decision whether or not to do that. We may cancel and just take a domestic vacation somewhere...
@hezzer78 Was there a time frame on the pelvic rest, or was it just until the cerclage is out?
No-one has said anything about pelvic rest this time, and last time it was 'You can't O. Anything else that doesn't cause cervix changes/stress is allowed.' So we could have sex, as long as I didn't O, H could every time though. Never happened, but it was an 'option'.

Yay for good appointments! (On mobile so hard to tag) @roadspeckle I hope she is feeling better soon! We were in the hospital around 6mo Old with DS for the same thing and it’s so hard.
Ive finally unburied myself at work and now I’m off starting tomorrow for 3 days, so next week I’ll be unburying myself again!
my flight to Cali - what a mess! My layover is in Chicago, and they’re supposed to get a ton of snow tonight and tomorrow. im flying out of a smaller airport, so I have more limited options on alternate flights. Southwest was able to get me on a flight that connects in Denver, so FX everything goes smoothly!! Most flights out of our airport layover at Chicago, and tomorrow they are now cancelled, including my original flight. I’m now on the only one tomorrow with LAX as the end result, so I’m just hoping they didn’t overbook and I get bumped somehow. I printed my boarding pass and have my check in/boarding letter/number since it’s Southwest. I will fight someone before I get bumped! And I’m totally playing the pregnancy card if it comes to that. No shame!
I am trying to play catch up here! That July post cracked me up. I really wonder if she was for real or a troll. I feel like anything is possible.
Had an appointment today and got to hear the heartbeat! 158. Hearing it just feels like a giant weight off of my shoulders. I was to get blood drawn for the NIPT and two girls tried 3 places and were only able to get 3/4 of a vile. They just kept sticking the needle and digging around. I am a hard draw but they have always been able to get a vein eventually. So now I have to wait and go to Quest. I asked about doing the NT scan and my Dr. said they don't do them because the blood work will be enough. Which sucks because I really wanted to see my LO again.
@lolog531 Good luck! We stopped flying through Chicago due to several "flights from hell" where we were stuck on the tarmac for bloody hours waiting for them to de-ice the planes one by one, only instead of doing it right before take off, they did it like 5 planes back, so by the time you got to the end to take off, your plane was frozen up again. Or they'd cancel. Sooo...we use either Detroit or Minneapolis now, both know how to handle winter flights.
Since I was gone for a few weeks do we have a deals and steals thread? We had one on my last bmb and it was helpful for people to post great deals on baby items for the rest to take advantage of. If not I'll start it if y'all are interested!
@Brezzy1928 My doc doesn't do the NT scan either, apparently. We did the first tri blood draw, but I was a little disappointed to not see LO again too!
I had my appointment today and I thought we were drawing blood for the NIPT, but I guess he's having the high risk doc do it over there, which is annoying because apparently my OB didn't put in the right code or something when he sent the referral, and there's so much confusion. I've tried calling the high risk doc twice to get an appointment booked (I got my approval letter from the insurance company, so I thought I was good to go) but they were always confused on what he actually wanted them to do. Mentioned it to my doctor today and he was all pissed off at their incompetence, but that means that he's actually going to make sure it all happens ASAP. So hopefully I'll get a call from them soon to book the appointment, otherwise next week when I see him my OB will be really pissed at them!

@princesslockness LOL - It'll suck for a bit but we will manage. I will probably get one of those stools that go in the shower like old folks use and just sit on it and imagine I'm in the tub. (Pretty unsucessfully, I suppose..)
@hezzer78 I have a stool in my bathroom for makeup but it's waterproof so that I could put it in the shower for when I'm really hungover. Which obviously isn't happening now, but I have considered it for those days I am super sick. Lol. Got it at Home Goods!

Also will come in handy for shaving your legs when you can’t see past your belly or bend over

Just put them to the side. Like out past your hips. Soo much easier to reach.

So much easier being pregnant in the winter
THIS!! I’ve always had winter babies. I might just be going hippie style this summer. Hair everywhere. Hahahahaha.
@Firemanswife11 I've totally debated getting one of those stools that old people have in their showers for days when I'm too tired. And this was before I was even pregnant.
'Beautiful' was amazing. I cried through half the show. DH even enjoyed it. We're actually thinking of using Carole (which was also my grandmother's name) as the middle name if it's a girl. Or we can use it for a boy, like when Matt Damon played Liz Lemon's boyfriend Carol Burnett on '30 Rock'.

hi lovelies! sorry for the MIA - last night was nothing short of awful. our doctor forgot to write that if her IV comes out, it would be ok not to replace it. so, 2:30 comes (little no sleep) and it took 4 more pokes, and 3 people to get it started. not to mention it took 1.5 hours to complete it. we finally got discharged at 545 and we have to go back tomorrow for follow up since she will be closely followed. Thanks for all the thoughts and well wishes. We are so exhausted and happy to be home except I am kind of nervous.
@Firemanswife11 I loled at the stool in the shower for a hangover. Genius! I labored in the shower and on the toilet so am I think i need one now too.
@roadspeckle T&P's for your LO. I'm currently rocking my sleeping almost 16 month old LO right now and am holding on to her extra long tonight thinking if you. Such a scary thing.
All my love to the teachers, thank you for all the hard work and hours you put in to these kids who will maybe one day teach our own kids.
4:30am and I’m at the airport! I got here super early (5:45 flight) just to be safe and since it is snowing here. So far everything is on time, I’m through security and sitting at the gate! Cali and sunshine here I come! Visiting my BFF who lives out there, and 4 other friends are joining us! Between us we have 14 kids, plus my #2, so we are all looking forward to a nice long weekend! If I’m a little MIA, I’m apologizing in advance!
@roadspeckle continuing thought ms and prayers to your DD. Glad you have been discharge and that she is on the mend. Hang in there, mama. She’ll be right as rain before long xox
Well I spectacularly failed my 3hr glucose test. Go big or go home.
FML
Did you have GD before? Is that why you are having early testing?
Why did you spectacularly fail it? Lol. What’s that mean?
I’m so sorry. I know those tests suck big time. I always get stuck doing both. But I’ve never failed the three hour. What happens now that you’ve learned the results?
@dirtanddiamonds I was diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance in my early twenties after years of irregular periods and other icky side effects. To this day I have struggled with blood sugar problems, so I have been on Metformin for over a year now after I got a new GP who actually took it seriously. The Metformin brought my a1c down to the normal range very quickly, but I've never really daily tested because ever since I was diagnosed as borderline/pre-diabetic I honestly try to not eat sweets or high GI carbs (rice/pasta/breads/potatoes). Instead I mostly eat lean meats, green vegetables, some fruits, and whole grains like quinoa instead of rice.
So with all of that leading the charge, my OB wanted me to get the glucose tolerance tests out of the way sooner rather than later (like normal pregnant ladies would do) to head off any problems early on.
I say I spectacularly failed, because I failed every single one of the blood draws, even from out of the starting gate. *insert rolling eyes emoji*
Fasting: 100 (70-99) (Tested at 8am, and I last ate tuna salad at 6pm the night before...) 1hr: 239 (70-180) 2hr: 224 (70-155) 3hr: 199 (70-140)
Despite the fact with insulin resistance I have too much insulin in my body, it's as my new GP said, "it just mills around like a bunch of teenagers, not working". So I'm curious if they want to put me on insulin how that's going to actually work.
According to the helpful lab tech who's gone through it herself, if I fail, they'll call in a high-risk OB who will work in conjunction with my regular OB. Then I will have to meet with a diabetic dietitian and work out a meal plan and testing regimen. I know my current OB has already said he wanted me off Metformin by week 13 anyway (I'm not sure why) and they may try me on something else that would work better to control my blood sugar levels (I think he called it Glyburide?). Ultimately if that and diet/exercise don't keep my sugar levels mostly stable they'd have to consider insulin injections, which for obvious reasons I'd rather not have to do. Plus I'm afraid once I'm on that bandwagon, it'd be for life, even after I gave birth.
