  • @mrsbubbles-2 He is coming to my city in October as well! I would love to go. DH really doesn't like Elton John  so he could stay home. I was thinking maybe my mom would go and it could be her Birthday present.

@ournextadventure Congrats that is great news!

  • No spoilers from me, but for those who watch This Is Us...what did you think about last night's episode? I was irritated about staying up late so maybe I was put off by that, but I wasn't really into this episode. (I usually go to bed around 8:30ish even not pregnant haha.) The episode was not as sad as I thought it would be, but I think I had really built up in my mind that I would be just devastated by the whole thing. Not really. I mean, I did cry, as usual...but it just wasn't the sob fest I was expecting? I don't know, just feel kinda "meh" about it.
  • Thanks ladies! I think I'm going to tell DH this is happening and we'll figure out the babysitting when the time comes

@ournextadventure - that's fantastic news all around! Congratulations!
@Brezzy1928 - we can compare notes lol! What an amazing present for you mom!

  • @mrsbubbles-2 I know a couple people that have tried to get those Elton John tickets and if you don't have.....is it an AmEx?  They sell out before the official release.  So be ready if you're going to try for them!

I saw Elton John in 2006 when he was covering for Celine Dion in Vegas.  It was a crazy show.  Overly analytical me spent most of it trying to figure out what the video on the screen behind him and the blow ups popping out of the walls had to do with the lyrics of the song he was singing.  I think you just need to be on more drugs or something.  And.....I know gay men typically like breasts, but....he had lots of pop ups of vags too...?
  • Double post.  But I was off on Friday and I rarely check in on weekends.  So I just got rid of all those yellow notifications cause there's no way I'm catching up.  Did I miss anything important and/or juicy?
  • @mrsbubbles-2
I'm travelling from Colorado to Tahoe with the baby in September, then driving to Oregon. A concert shouldn't be a problem! He's not making it to Denver until the end of 2019, so at least I have some time on that one.

    @ournextadventure
Awesome! Is being lead accountant a good thing during tax season? That sounds... busy. I'm glad your office is soon to be drama free!

  • @Firemanswife11 I actually enjoyed last night's episode. I obviously knew what it was about as they have been giving it away for weeks but I liked the twist that I wasn't expecting. Plus I liked how it was more focused on the kids and mom now vs. when it happened. The scene that really got me crying was Kate and Toby.

  • @derbysquirrel Luckily I don't do taxes. I do governmental work and audits. So basically grants and Auditing the use of the money.
  • @SmashJam If you haven't thought of one yet, can we talk about Strollers this week?  I'm curious if I should even bother with a double stroller?  They will be 21M apart.

  • haha ok @calimom2524 I'll just spread my OCDness all over this board
  • One of the ads that always pops up in the corner of TB screen is for Olive Garden. That's just cruel! I constantly want lasagna because of it.

  • @Firemanswife11 I think it’s because we knew what was ultimately the end result of that episode. I didn’t stay up but I did watch this morning since I had a weather delay haha.

My my favorite part was actually the flash forward! I hope they start doing those.
That totally caught me off guard! I loved it.

  • What was with the many horror movies being advertised during the SB? SB ads are supposed to be funny or about American pride like Budweiser or Dodge. Not horror movies.

Worse than that, there’s a new movie coming out. Trigger Warning:

It’s called stillborn. It’s a frikkin’ horror movie. And usually I’m someone who is relatively good at turning my back on things I don’t care for. But, this is just a sick movie. I won’t go into details. You can find the ad on FB or YouTube. But. What a horrible horrible movie. I’m gonna have nightmares about the preview. And I’ve been to war.
  • @Firemanswife11 Girl I sobbed through the whole episode. SOBBED.

@scottishlass1213 Omg the flash forward! The second we realized it I gasped and instant tears. Loved that so much, especially because then they were happy tears

@dirtanddiamonds Oh hell no. That's not okay. I better not see any previews for that.

Oh, my coworker who is almost 30wks along brought in her Doppler for me to try! I’m overly excited (and nervous) to use it tonight. I’m 11 weeks this week, so I should be able to hear it, right?. I had the us at 8 weeks, but my first appt isn’t until tomorrow, which I’m also excited about! My OB has been trying to convince me for #2 forever and we were on the fence about being OAD, which she knew, so I’m sure she’ll be excited when I see her!

edited because I put #3 instead of #2, and this is definitely #2. i am 99.9% sure there will be no #3! Ha!

She lives in Redondo Beach. I think we are mainly staying around her, but may head to Malibu or Santa Monica on Monday.

  • BTW I'm having a hard time taking any of you seriously today because the siggys are so on point! I'm pretty sure my co-workers are wondering what kind of freaky shit I'm into because they walk by and see edible men's underwear, heart-shaped back waxes, and frosting penises all over my browser.

Is Bitch fest one word or 2? It's bugging me every time I see it on the main page...

  • Skimming this thread because I didn't watch This is Us yet. It doesn't look like spoilers, but I hate reading impressions and thoughts until I get to see it.
I didn't get to see it because..... GOOOO EAGLES!!!! This city is on fire right now. I'm so excited for the parade on Thursday! FLY EAGLES FLY!
  • @lolog531 you may be able to hear it. Have you used a doppler before? I have not had any issues but I started using mine at 11w3d this time. I think last time I heard the HB at like 9 weeks?
  • @lolog531 I've used the home Doppler, and it's been great. I think the first time was around 11w. I'd suggest letting the nurse find it first at your appointment tomorrow, because then you'll know where to look. It can be tricky to locate, especially if you're unsure about where to start.

  • OMG I used to LOVE chewy chips a house cookies! I've tried them a few years ago and was like, ugh, wtf.  But BROWNIE filled chewy chips ahoy??? Were they at the store???? I want!!!!!

Today has been just lovely.  My teething toddler is erupting even MORE teeth and refusing to eat anything but pickles.  How long can you survive on pickles?

@lolog531 I just suggest starting with the Doppler low, near your pubic bone.  With mine I actually have to use a little pressure and push to get a good sound.

I mean, pickles aren't the worst thing in the world. At least it's food? Silver lining? Godspeed, teething is awful.

  • @derbysquirrel @Firemanswife11 @coffeecocktailsandcake Thanks for the tips on the Doppler ladies!! I’ve never used one before, so I’m sure it’ll take me awhile to actually find anything!! I’ll try not to freak out if it doesn’t work, and at least I have my appointment tomorrow for reassurance! I feel like I’ve waited forever for this first appointment!

  • @lolog531 Yes, as the other ladies said, make sure you’re searching pretty darn low for baby. I’ve found the heartbeat as early as 8 weeks before. Now at 13w5d it’s usually right about center and an inch or so above my pubic bone, but I still have to apply some pressure to feel it.

Also make sure you have gel! I use aloe gel (like for sunburns) but someone here said lube works too

There are also a bunch of YouTube videos that can help show you how to do it. Good luck!
