I've decided that I will wear maternity tights for the remainder of my life. No other tights shall touch my body. Is that okay?
Also, I was really happy to open the app today and discover that baby is the size of a honey bee I fancy myself a beekeeper despite failure in my first year.
I had to get bloodwork this morning and man it hurt more than usual. The tech asked if I had a lot of water this morning, and I said no, but what I really wanted to say was, "it's Monday morning at 8 am, I've had a cup of coffee and 8 oz of water which is pretty damm good considering I'm nauseated and had to get my 19 month old up, dressed, and out the door all by myself this morning". Who's well hydrated at 8 am on a Monday?!
I'm so damn excited we had a home visit and meet and greet with a puppy last night, and we're going to adopt him! Pictures to come on probably Thursday or Friday when he comes home. Gotta do a little work and shopping to get ready for him.

@prpl11butterfly I've always considered keeping bees! But I'm afraid of them. I figured keeping bees would cut down my honey cost for making Mead... Maybe sometime in the future. I have a co-worker who has a family "bee farm". this year they sent a bunch of hives to California for the winter to help with almond pollination. I like to ask how his bees are doing at camp. Bees area so cool!
I'm so nervous for my u/s at 11:15 today Although, I am happy that I don't have to sit around and think about for days on end! Fingers crossed for a baby in there this time!
I've never had options for doctors before. When we lived in CA our insurance was a one stop shop (Kaiser), and you were just sort of assigned to someone and that someone wasn't guaranteed to be the one actually delivering your baby. I had a fabulous Midwife who I adored, so I lucked out, but having the option of shopping around to different practices is a new concept to me. I'm actually getting overwhelmed with having too many options. I made an appointment at one place but after reading reviews and stories on the local ICAN FB group, I'm starting to question my decision and looking at two other practices. How the heck do you pick one? Seriously, I am not doing well with having choices.

@nsquaredlife13 I am doing my first appointment with a midwife that I saw as a Gyno for years (no pregnancy things) and if she doesn't feel entirely on board with my plans, then my next a.appointment will be with the best option that ICAN suggested. That's all I've got.

@EErin86 I understand being afraid of them but they are truly gentle creatures. Obviously yes they sting, but only when they feel threatened or protective of food/offspring. My bees were sweet, loving girls. I miss them terribly
@nsquaredlife13 go with your gut. If someone doesn't feel right, they are not the one for you.
@pourmeamocktail I wish I at least had a regular gyno I had been seeing first. We moved here in March and I went to this particular practice in November for an exam, thinking when we got pregnant with #3 it would maybe work out. But that was before I read the not-so-great stories on the ICAN page. Ugh! I'm going to call around today and see if I can get some questions answered.

@prpl11butterfly thank you! That's what my H said. I found another practice that has amazing reviews, their web page has a very detailed breakdown on their practices which seem to line up with my goals. And I found them from a few raving reviews on the ICAN page for mamas who have had VBACs. They're on my list of places to call to see if they're taking new patients, so fingers crossed I can get in! They also deliver at the hospital I want, so that's a plus!

@SkilledSailor 6 month old pit, maybe a mix, but he looks pretty true to breed. DS loved him (19 months old and laughing too hard to breathe!) and I think our mini dachshund will get there-he has many other pit friends, it'll just take a couple of weeks to handle the puppy part. The last pit puppy we lived with (while living with family) became best friends with both dog and baby, so we're very excited. I only wish I'd taken photos last night. Was too busy playing!

DD and I went to the dentist last week. She found this little flashlight the other day and she’s been making my husband and I open our mouths so she can check our teeth. Let’s hope she’ll become a dentist!
I was just coming to give a PSA over that @smsaulino - listeria hysteria continues, so far it's cream cheese and romaine lettuce, stick to your deli meat!
I'll eat deli meat no question if it's from somewhere I trust and a brand I trust. The outbreaks are not often actually deli meat so it seems crazy to completely avoid it when the issue seems to be more often with produce and other stuff.

My np told me deli meat, sushi, and soft cheese were all fine! I don’t love sushi but I won’t say no to some (pasteurized) Brie!
She is not as liberal about medication, though. I’ve only seen this np once, as the woman I had been seeing previously (and loved!) is no longer working due to the doctor being on medical leave I’m thinking of finding someone else but not sure if I’m over-reacting. I have anxiety and tapered off all my medication (clonazepam and trazodone) prior to TTC, and at previous doc’s suggestion, switched down to 25mg sertraline. This new np, without even asking about my mental health and how I’m doing, said I need to stop taking it, no questions. sorry, just wanted to rant about that quickly. I’m not sure if I should look for someone else since it’s super early in my pregnancy.
@ashh2018 - If you already don't like your provider, there's no reason to stick with her. There's a lot of time left and you will be better off with someone who is more attentive to your overall needs, mental health included (and especially).

Thanks @DanyTargaryen, I’m sure you’re right. This doctor is two minutes from my home and work, so I was really hoping I could make it work. I haven’t even met the doc yet, just the np! I’ll do some research on others this week.
@nsquaredlife13 I love my ob/gyn practice. Here's a few things I'd ask...
Who's your primary doc, and would you still end up having appointments with the other docs in the practice? I like that all the info is funneled back to the primary, but there are 5 docs in my practice and I was encouraged to meet all of them before delivery, because whoever is on call at the time you deliver is whoever will deliver for you.
How many nurse practitioners are there in the practice, and what is there role? My practice used to only have one, but now there are 2. They have a call-in hour every day where you can ALWAYS talk to one of them (although you may be on hold for a while). My NP's do the first ob visit around 10 weeks, and when I wasn't pregnant I also saw the NP once for a day-of appointment for something minor.
Ask them their policies on c-sections. One of the things I love about my practice is that they were very clear about not pushing for "elective" c-sections. This also went along with the idea that any of the docs who are on call will deliver--if there's only one doc, sometimes there's pressure to get the delivery done so the doc can go home. That's not the case with my practice!
Overall what are their hours, and how hard is it to get an appointment, or to reach someone via phone? If you had something going on and needed a same-day appointment, how likely is it that you'd get one? Honestly, I have to wait on hold forever whenever I call. It's really annoying. And the office closes for lunch every day, which is when I always seem to want to call. But the good things about them make up for it!
@ashh2018 I definitely want to echo what @DanyTargaryen said; especially if you're already not too happy with her, definitely change providers. I work with a psychiatrist who specializes in prenatal and postnatal care, and she says there are medications that are safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. She always tells patients to compare the risks between taking medication and mother's mental health. I'd be concerned about a provider that tells you to stop your meds without first asking you how you're doing. You should be part of the decision.
I don't see a bitch fest thread so I'm just gonna leave this here- My butt hurts!!!! I had to get a rhogam shot cause I'm A- and the IUD removal caused bleeding. Owww. I mean, yay for medical advances that will help my unborn child's safety, but ow for my butt.
@Spylon that’s exactly what my previous np said! That the risks of being unwell were worse than the risks of the medication. I’m going to do some research when I get home from work. I may also just call this doctor again, I was nervous and overwhelmed at my first appt and maybe she did care more and I just missed it? It’s definitely possible.
@pourmeamocktail My H and I have had several pits. I cannot stand the image some people have of them.. they are, without question, the sweetest, most gentle dogs. And they legit smile..so..
My dog is a mutt of pit, rottie, doberman, and black lab. He's a huge baby dispite being some of the "meanest" breeds there are. His bark is vicious and I have no doubt he would protect this family to his dying breath but he is such a gentle beast. MIL had a pit (drug dog trained to hate cops that my BIL decided to kidnap). Given his history, he should have been a ruthless killer. But no, he was a sweet and loving boy.
Regarding the knottie numbers post. Cheers for the effort of putting it together today!
This is harsh, but if they haven’t figured out that they need to at least try to update their name and searched for how during their probationary period, I have zero f’s to give. History and statistics say that they are likely not engaged enough with the forum to care other than their own AW posts anyways. Sorry, not sorry. Here’s some Demi Lovato glitter for their way out.
@prpl11butterfly I love all those breeds! This will our second pit, my dad has had two, and my SIL has one two-who loves my son and dachshund! Picked up our couple of supplies we needed, and now just eagerly waiting for Thursday!
@Redpuma119 They are so so sweet. This "little" guy was a stray and potty trained in like 3 days, and is so careful when playing and taking treats, to keep his teeth to himself.

@spottedginger I’m new to this forum, but after spending a long time on some other (wedding) forums, I totally get the annoyance at people not figuring out how to properly change their name! Lol
also, if you all want to post pictures of your dogs, that would make me very happy.
@spottedginger I won't lie..part of me is like "ugh another weekly thread" but then another part of me is like "but my fur babies do cute things every week and I wanna AW them".
Y'all, I booked our maternity and newborn photo sessions today. I love our photographer (she did our wedding) and saw a post of hers about how she's traveling a bunch this summer and is all booked up and I panicked. I'm probably the only crazy person who books these this early but I'm also so excited to have secured spots in her schedule!
@stothi , I feel you girl! I HATE getting the Rhogam shot!!
I'm so glad they can give it to us but omg I'm having such a pity party over here today! Since peeing on a stick and getting that plus sign I've been to the doc 3 times in under a week to get poked and prodded and stabbed and I feel like a damn lab rat!!! Wahhhhh!!! Hormones and my sore butt!!! Or I guess technically it's more my hip... And my husband who is traveling for work is at nice hotel getting room service and eating out and just getting to say, "yay" to ultrasound pics of cute little blobs while I do all this ish while taking care of our toddler! Ok. Pulling it together now.
I'm wearing my "fat pants" today... and they're super tight, bordering uncomfortable. This whole 3rd pregnancy bit may not be as easy to hide for as long as I had hoped. We move in 2 weeks and I can't get to my maternity pants until after the move, so I may have to do a Target run for some stretchy waistband jeans!
