@stothi Dang! Hope the time passes quickly! My hubby is gone A LOT but nothing like that. Goodness. @pourmeamocktail so sorry for your loss. Hope your shift isn't too crappy and you can get home to your puppy and kiddo quickly. Edited because I suck at words.
@stothi when he is gone that long do you get to have weekend visits or anything? That would be a very long time to be apart especially with all these pregnancy hormones.

Well, we had at least one visit, lol!!! That's what got me here So yes and no. He's far, so it's a time and money issue mostly. There usually isn't enough time for him to get back home and be able to stay for more than a minute and those travel expenses would have to come out of our pocket. I *could* go to him but traveling solo with my toddler long distance is my idea of hell(ish, what's real bad but not quite as bad as actual hell?) And again, money So it's not impossible exactly to see each other but it's not realistic
@stothi haha...well, the one visit was a VERY good visit! This will be my first, but agree traveling solo with a toddler would not be high on my enjoyable trips to take, especially long distances. Wouldn’t it be nice if money just grew on trees?! Life would be much easier
thanks all, just getting that all of my chest was so helpful. I kinda wish I was busy at work, instead of just waiting for the day to be over while not making tips. At least I can snack.

@klj0228 Exactly! If money were no object I'd just get a full time nanny and travel with my toddler to wherever my husband is. Or simplify even more- just have him quit his job and come be a full time stay at home dad so he can take care of our toddler and rub my feet and bring me food. Ahhhh... Wouldn't that just be a dream?
I tentatively brought up the subject of baby names to my DH yesterday, and just as I feared, it's going to be an ordeal once again. We didn't have names picked out until the very end last time, and he just kept saying no to everything without even really listening. I suggested that app that couples can use for baby names, the one that's like Tinder where you swipe right for names you like and then it generates a list of matches. He immediately shut it down. I'm already frustrated lol

You are on top of things. Names have not even crossed my mind.
@klj0228 I'm the same. DH has been trying to pick names since TTC. I was all "let's just wait until it actually happens" and now it has an I'm still pushing it off. I really don't know why. Maybe subconsciously I know it's a girl and we've had a girl name forever...... But I'm dreading another girl in my life (honestly I will love the baby no matter what, just getting a run for my money with niece lately)
@klj0228@prpl11butterfly I was kind of hoping that if I brought it up earlier, he'd start to cooperate earlier. It stressed me out a lot last time that he wasn't putting any thought into names until the very end. Now I'm starting to think that this strategy will stress me out just as much *sigh*
@stothi It's called BabyName. The icon is a white egg on a yellow background. It's a cool concept for sure. It could bring up names that you might never have thought the other one would go for.
@pourmeamocktail, so sorry for your lost. Hope the rest of your shift goes quickly, and I'll be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
@Spylon, trying to agree on baby names is the worst. Two out of three times, we haven't had the name completely worked out prior to delivery, and our last naming experience was the worst (ended up with me being in tears from sheer exhaustion, frustration, and hormones). This time, I refuse not to have a name figured out before delivery. I and my DH definitely need to download that app.
@Spylon we already know the names to our first born boy and girl.. they are family names on DH side.. even though I'm too crazy about the names.. we will be carrying on the tradition.
@smsaulino I flew a couple weeks ago. Mint gum really helped the nausea + air pressure. FX it’s a smooth flight for you!
@spylon H and I loved that app for a bit! I even splurged for the “hippy/nature” names add on.
We already have names picked out. But we’ve been talking about it since this summer. We just went through our running list once we were pregnant and paired them up with H’s last name. It took maybe 30 minutes. We’re weird.
My doctor is super supportive of me having a VBAC (my last pregnancy I developed preeclampsia the last two days and also had dropping platelets so a C-section was necessary) and I bought Ina May Gaskin's book today. I'm fully committed to educating myself about the whole thing and I'm SO EXCITED to do it.
@smsaulino good luck! I will have to fly across the country in June, I will be 26 weeks. I actually put off TTC (it’s my brother’s wedding in June) so that I wouldn’t be past my second trimester when I had to fly. Unfortunately, I didn’t know that the count starts at the LMP rather than ovulation so I’m two weeks off - because (good thing I waited) it happened on the first try lol. Nervous but hoping I’m good then. I wish you a quick and comfy flight!
My toddler decided today would be the day to skip his one and only nap for the first time...terrified what this means for tonight and the future, wish my guy needed more sleep than he does!
Also, work meetings are kicking my butt this week. Between those and all of the office work I've had, my productivity is awful.
And, my H comes home in 20 minutes! DS has been talking about dada non stop since he left and was so happy when we video chatted last night.
Crossing my fingers for a good night of sleep for all of us!
Okay, I reread the board instructions, andbhave been just watching trying to glean from context but I am still confused on what and how to use “TW” ... someone help a broken brained mama out?

@smsaulino don’t worry about flying, especially this early! As a flight attendant, I’ll be working while pregnant up to 28weeks. I just spoke to my OB today about flying to Chicago the first weekend in August for a wedding and she was onboard (barring any complications before then). Just wash your hands/sanitize a ton. The worst part of flying right now is other people’s germs.
I’ve been reading about this a lot, and I think the general consensus is that it is safe to fly up until like, 36 weeks - barring any complications, or anything that could cause early labor. I’m planning to just be as careful as possible, get up frequently and walk around, stay hydrated, etc. Of course this is all totally hypothetical because I’m a FTM so I have no freaking idea what I’ll look or feel like at 26 weeks. But hey, fingers crossed!

If you look up baby box university, you can see if there is a program in your area. DH is not yet totally sold, but say if I were lying on the couch, the baby box could be right there in the floor in front of me, and baby has a safe, flat place to lie, and I can still keep baby close-by. Or another example, as of now, our mattress is still on the floor, (waiting for DH to build us our bed for the past 15 months lol), so of course the plan is, by the time baby is here, I will have broken down and bought us a platform bedframe I've had my eye on, and the mini crib, but hypothetically, baby could sleep in parents' room right there on the floor safely beside the bed. Or if it just buys mom and dad some time before purchasing the full size crib. Or an easy thing to keep at MILs. Whichever. I love the concept. <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/sy/ut1u9jzazb3q.jpg" alt="">
@sreysaw17 depending on how your pregnancy is going you can fly pretty much up until your due date. Most OBs want you to stop by 36weeks but often earlier (especially for FTM where you don’t have any history). Since I went 41 weeks last time with zero complications my OB was pretty confident that I would be able to make it to the wedding at 36/37weeks. Some airlines might request a doctor’s note after a certain date but I’ve never ever seen that enforced.
@EErin86 I meant to ask- how was your curling competition last weekend?
Haha our first two games were awful none of us played well, then we switched up the order and did much better. Didn't end up in any events but another team from our club beat us out for a spot so we were happy for them. I'm nervous because we are playing in a bonspiel in MN next weekend and I've basically just been living on the couch, hopefully I'm not too much dead weight.
@AdmiralKitty@ashh2018 Thanks! I thought it was pretty close to the end but I couldn't remember. We're moving to Mexico the end of July so I kind of have to be able to fly. My first pregnancy I went 41 weeks as well and no complications so I'm hopeful.
@BusinessWife ah! Like they do in Finland. Did you tell hubby that all babies in Finland get one and many never get a crib at all? They have one of the lowest infant mortality rates anywhere so they obviously know something about taking care of babies.
@businesswife I love that concept! My cat would totally take over it. It would be a cat box. But for other people, totally love it! Also, does it come with that cute pattern in it and the mattress?
@SkilledSailor thank you. That makes wayyy more sense than twatwaffle which was the only think that stuck in my head. Pretty sure I knew that oncenupon a time too... I’ve had the worst brainfunction lately, it’s embarrassing!

@BusinessWife that is really neat! I just read about it. Finland gives them to every new mom or a mom can opt to take a payment instead. Most pick the box because it is full of other goodies and makes a great first bed. Gets mom and baby started on the right foot no matter economic background.
Exactly! @stothi @SkilledSailor @klj0228. There is a little mattress inside with a plain white custom fitted sheet, and the whole thing has sort of a cute seaside design printed on it! I'm sure the prints vary.
Inside I was hoping there would be more goodies, tbh, like at least a onesie! But mostly samples, like some dove wipes, lanisoh cream, a diaper cream, some toiletries and a bunch of coupons, looks like for photo stuff though too, and I dont know what else. I have to look more at the deals ;)
