  • @ecwk thank you! That was so helpful! I've been wondering how to GIF too! Lol
  • @neeraja_k I knit a baby blanket for DS that we used for a while as his baby carrier summer throw. I literally know only how to do blankets.  Lol. I don’t think it’s happening this time around though between work, fitness, family and I’m working on a Masters since I get free tuition at work haha
  • From my past BMB it just got weirder as time went on. You get to know most of the regulars and then random people drop in with "is this my mucus plug?" pictures. SO WEIRD. The interwebs is a strange place.
That’s pretty much how my last BMB was. You had an overflow at the beginning because ZOMG everyone is excited. They intro and then never are heard from again. Then you get into a groove, some post more than others, but the regulars are known. Then bam, you have some random drama/weird post on a Tuesday morning and no one is quite sure what happened.

@livinthesunnylife YES! Sun protection. I get so stressed when I see kids out in just swim trunks, or just little swimsuits. My poor kids are covered in long-sleeve sun protection shirts...

I kind of of wish I wore the same and looked so cute. So pale. All the sunburns.

  • As for traveling we have nothing planned so far. We usually do a week in northern WI late July with my family, but since moving to MI it is a 9 hour drive. No way I’m doing that almost 9 months pregnant, especially when DS came 3 weeks early.

We may try and do some local travel, up to the UP, long weekend in Traverse City, etc. There are great places to visit in the summer close to us, so why not?!

Also @ecwk thanks for the gif tips! I was thinking I needed to go back and figure it out. It’s been 2.5 years since I was on TB frequently with my last BMB and the app is different now!

DS1 is sick and needs me to sit in his room while he falls asleep. But, I haven’t had dinner and suddenly I’m starving. Stop wiggling around and go to sleep, kid!!!! (I mean, I love you, honey, and I hope you feel better).

I love Traverse City! I grew up in Chicago but we had family in MI so we would go skiing there a lot in the winter. It was so nice!

I grew up about 60 miles west of Chicago! I lived downtown for 5 years and that’s where DH and I met. We relocated to West Michigan almost 4 years ago. I love it here, but Chicago is near and dear to us!.

I didn’t realize how beautiful most of MI was until we moved here and started exploring! There are so many great little towns and we love being only a 45 minute drive from Lake Michigan.

  • I guess I'm the opposite.  I don't see a thing wrong with little girls in two-piece bathing suits. People shouldn't look at a young girl and associate their swimsuit with sexuality.

I slather my kids in sunscreen, just to clarify.  I actually hate rash guards.

  • @lolog531 we love the Empire/Frankfort area. I know it's touristy but the sand dunes and lookouts/ hikes are spectacular.
H and I also like Bellaire, we are beer people and Shorts Brewery is such a great place. Also love the little public Access nearby on Torch Lake. We babymooned there 2 years ago and cherry picked at Kings orchard. It was a great time.

  • @lolog531 half my family lives in TC! Love it up there. I’m sad to not be able to do any wine tasting this summer!

@ecwk thank you for the step by step! I tried to read the instructions but was too dumb to figure it out. I think I got it now!
  • Hey Ladies,
I have a pre planned trip the week of fourth of July and was wondering if I was crazy to still have the desire to go. I am due August 14 and went two weeks early last time So I think I will be ok. I am just nervous about the two hour plane ride. I did purchase the extra comfy seats so that I will for sure be comfortable, but we shall see.

I have been been laying low because I am still not feeling well. I have been dry heaving and feeling like someone punched me in the stomach. I have two more weeks until I am out of the 1st trimester, so hopefully a lot of my symptoms will subside. I feel really bad for DH because I am definitely not pulling my weight and he has been so good.

On a a good note I have my first OB appt on Friday. I am excited about that. I have already had three ultra sounds with my RE, but I am ready to transition to my OB.

I personally wouldn’t go because like you, I was early with my first. Also, my dr. told me they wouldn’t suggest I travel 2 hours by plane even at the end of May! That may be a bit drastic though.
  • @juliebird6 the hard part will be going to those places and not being able to go wine tasting!!

    @brzvice Short’s is such a great brewery!

  • Really a month and two weeks out is too close? I will see what my OB says. Even if I go two weeks early that will be the end of July.
  • True story: my sister got married 10 days before my EDD with DD1, a 10 hour drive away, and I went.  I went to the doctor right before we left (normally we'd fly but I was too late in the pregnancy to fly) and she said it didn't look like I'd go into labor soon so as long as I felt ok with possibly delivering the baby out of town to go.  One of my friends from high school I'm still in touch with is an obgyn there so I had a back up plan.  We drove there, arrived right in time for the rehearsal dinner, went to the wedding the next day, slept, and drove home first thing the next day.  All told we were gone less than 48 hours and 20 of those were in the car.  Uncomfortable but I'm happy I didn't miss it.

Knowing what I know now, which is that I just do not dilate until I'm in active labor, so a cervix check is zero indication of when I'll deliver, and also that I have fast labors, don't know if I'd have the balls to do it again!
  • All of you ladies with your travel plans and vacations are making me jealous! I get so motion sick when I’m pregnant that traveling is no bueno...maybe we’ll take a road trip that’s not too far so I feel like I’m not missing out!

I just finished watching this week’s This Is Us and pregnancy hormones combined with that weekly tear fest are getting to be a bit much!! I need all the tissues.

Yes this episode was no joke. I am a therapist so I have been privy to session that go exactly like that. The client wants to express concerns about their perception of their childhood and the entire family falls apart. The truth or people’s perception of the truth, is a hard pill to swallow. I love that show.

Wow, that would definitely be hard to witness firsthand! I love that they deal with real life issues on the show. It’s one of my faves! Tears and all.

  • Whoa. I did it. THANK YOU @ecwk !!!!!
  • My grandfather is turning 90 in Montana five weeks before my due date.  I really want to go, but it would mean two flights to get there.  My midwife said you can fly up to 36 weeks, but it just feels too close.  DS came right at 38 weeks.

My mom's reaction was that she'd just take DS on the trip without me and DH.  I think we might take her up on it.  DS loves my parents, and they're great with him, and it'd be nice to have some time alone with DH at the end.  I've just never been away from DS for more than a night, and I've definitely never been that far away from him, so I'm a little nervous at the prospect.
  • I'm on mobile so I can't check post history but guise I believe we just got our first blump drive by. On our first blump thread. We have been christened, aw shucks  :D

  • @Secretstapler we actually send DS to spend 5 days with my parents every summer when his daycare is closed. Well, last year was the first year (he was 21 months), but that's the plan this year too. It's so special for them as grandparents, and he loves it! It's also nice for us to get some time alone!

  • @calimom2524 Your post made me smile. I had quite a terrible two morning with DS so I kind of know what those moments are like. Throwing breakfast, not eating, hitting, and all of the standard two year old big feelings. After I peeled him off me screaming at daycare dropoff, I heard him say to his teacher that mommy didn't give him a hug. (I asked him if he wanted a hug before I left and he screamed at me, so I had to go). It made me so sad. He's been going to daycare since he was 3mo and the past few weeks have been the hardest ever. But I know deep down he loves me and needs me most of all.

@meeks2020 Glad to hear from you! Hope you're feeling better soon! Hugs!

  • @lakesideknitter that's what I keep telling myself! I think ms is finally at a manageable level, and the fatigue will get better. I don't know how others go on being a productive member of society. I have felt like I have the stomach flu and narcolepsy. But I see a light ! Now if snow will go away so we can have school

  • I feel like this pregnancy is already flying, even though I am only 9w6d. LOL! I am trying to to plan that vacay I talked about yesterday but I'm having a hard time because I want my mom and stepdad to go (and sister, because she'll help even out the cost even more, lmao), and they are "busy working." COME ON! You don't work when there is VACAY to discuss!!!!! :smirk:
