@mamaof5already I asked my doc about Tdap yesterday (that is, what the threshold is for "spending time with the newborn" in case a week-long visitor doesn't need it but a daily visitor does), and she said it's the tetanus vaccine, so as long as the person has had it in the past 10 years they're covered. So maybe it's only required for the day care workers every 10 years? She also said the elderly should have it anyway because pertussis is also really bad for old people to get.

@meatballs37 I haven't read your blog yet, but I'm praying for you and your meatballs anyway.
@sabby2 I knew I was pregnant with twins before my US. Weird, but I felt like I would have twins even when I was a kid. I trust my intuition. But, of course, its still only a "guess" until confirmation. I usually rely on my intuition to follow up on something. Congratulations and good luck on that June board of yours.

Lawd girl, pray for us over there. I'm thinking about starting the fffc thread. Maybe ya'll will get some more entertainment from us today.
Re: twins, it is a super weird feeling. I feel like I *know*. Can't wait for my us in a few weeks!
The tdap or tetanus was never required for daycare workers when I was working in one. In fact, the last physical I got they said MO changed laws and I would only need tb test once more and it would "follow" me forever, instead if requiring yearly. I don't know how other states work tho. (We did suggest to family, who would be around a lot, get tdap after we did when dd was born. Most did but my mom has lupus and could not which was fine.)
@meatballs37 So many positive vibes are coming your way today.

This is just reminding me that soon it's Christmas, then New Years, THEN MY NEW BABY.
When I went to Buy Buy Baby, they had St. Patrick's Day onesies on display! Reality really hit hard with that one. We have our babies by then! Cue minor freak out (at least for me).
@sabby2 I never had any idea I was having twins until that first ultrasound. And honestly I don't think I would still know at even 22 weeks if they hadn't told me.

@meatballs37 sending all the positive vibes your way! I can't even begin to imagine what you and your husband are going through. Here's to hoping you get all your questions answered!
I had my AS scan today and while I was taking advantage of the full length mirror for a 20 week picture I heard my doctor say something about my ultrasound followed by the tech say there was an issue with the baby's aorta. The doctor came in and just said they couldn't get a good look at it so we need to repeat the US next month but everything else looks okay. Ugh I'm still shaking!
We also addressed the anxiety issues and she's putting me on a super low dose of Zoloft to try out. So FX it helps
edited because Zofran and Zoloft are not the same thing
@SarahFoley725 They should know better than to say things like that!

@SarahFoley725, maybe the issue was that they could not get a good look. They could have been referring to the photo of the aorta, not the actual aorta. I am hoping all the best for you and your baby.

My OB requires her staff to get I text every 24 months because the pertussis part is shown to not be as effective at 7-10years, which the tetanus aspect is based off of.
@SarahFoley725 Ugh that’s such a nerve wracking thing to overhear! But I think if he saw an identifiable suspected ‘problem’ he would have given you a little more preparation for the follow-up rather than just saying they couldn’t get a good look. At least that has been my experience with docs and bad news, they seem to like to prepare me for the worst if they think they see something. Several of us are in the same anxious boat following the AS, it’s no fun! Hugs and I hope you can relax until the next one!

@lainikins@winnie1122 Thanks ladies! I'm actually not concerned that there's anything wrong. I just think the conversation I overheard was worded poorly. If they had seen an issue I highly doubt they'd wait a month to check it out especially with something as vital as the aorta! With my last pregnancy they were concerned I may have marginal cord insertion which is usually not a big deal at all but they had me in for a high risk scan within a week.
@meatballs37: if you want support from someone who has been there, I’m happy to connect you to my sister (haven’t asked her, but I know she’ll say yes). She had a blog too when she went through all this and was on bed rest. She had mono/di identical twin boys 3 years ago this month. We knew from the anatomy scan that baby b had issues, but it took 3 scans over two months to figure out exactly what. He has a congenital heart defect. Very similar to where you are - at first they thought TTS. And my second son had a CHD as well. Fortunately, mine has done great, but hers has required 3 open heart surgeries. However, he is doing great, keeps up with his twin, and isn’t scheduled to have more surgeries for hopefully 10 years. If you’d like an email or Facebook request or anything, let me know!
I’m over this week. It was spirit Week at school. The kids were insane. Then to wrap up this fabulous week, we were on lockdown all afternoon bc a drunk crazy ran from the police and was hiding in the woods by the school I’m getting Mexican for dinner and eating all the queso.
So glad it’s friday and Canadian thanksgiving this weekend. It’s been a hell week and I am looking forward to eating multiple kinds of pie.
Hubby has been going through some testing to find out why his optic nerve is leaking (he has no symptoms and this was discovered in his yearly eye exam) and his specialist freaked us the eff out by ordering an emergency CT scan. I had a full blown panic attack and we had to go to my doctor to make sure everything was ok. She prescribed low dosage Zoloft and counseling. Thankfully the CT scan came back clear but that means we still don’t know what’s causing the problem. But are thankful to know it’s not a tumour or aneurysm.
My SOs older sister text me today and said she is buying the furniture for the nursery. She said send me the links and she’ll get it done. I lost it in tears bc my family is so not like this and although they are happy about the baby they are not generous like this.
@magnolia305 I'm sure you've said before, but what grade do you teach?
@pandappanderson I remember you talking about his health issues. I'm glad it's not what they thought it was. How's the Zoloft helping you? I'm sorry y'all still don't know the cause.
@smorzandoj that is so wonderful! I'm glad you have that help from them!
@SarahFoley725 to be honest I haven’t filled the prescription yet. I know the doctor said it’s safe and lots of people take it but I haven’t wrapped my head around it yet:(
@pandappanderson I know you were having a really rough time. I'm glad the news is starting to come back good for your DH. I mentioned I take Zoloft. I also have xanax. Obviously not taking it now, but even before getting pregnant, I rarely took it. Just knowing I had it was reassuring. I'm sure just having the prescription for Zoloft is helpful for you. Glad you have it if you want it. Hang in there mama.
FFS. Passed te glucose test with flying colors. I’m 21 weeks today. Nurse tells me on the phone today that I’ll have to retake it between 24-28 weeks during the normal time frame.

Nooooooooooo.
I had to test at 11 weeks due to my higher BMI. I will have to test again around 26 weeks. I failed that one with DD and then passed the 3 hour test. Gosh I hope I don’t have to take the 3 hour this time around!
@jessilee15 thank you unfortunately we found out yesterday the heart issues are due to ttts. We are scheduled for surgery on Monday to split the placenta.
