Stuff like that makes me sad. Any time someone posts about "can I smoke/do xyz drug while pregnant/nursing?" it is deeply depressing to me. Because not only is a perfectly innocent life going to potentially be crippled/handicapped for life for no fucking reason, but they also have to be raised by an intensely selfish and non-functional person. Even if they somehow avoid physical consequences, they are still stuck with an awful poisonously self-absorbed parent.
It's also a sick world that those same people who look up about smoking or doing drugs while pregnant have no problems getting KU but women who wouldn't even think about eating White Queso while pregnant can't.
I am really trying to not stress, but What The Actual Fuck?! I was laid off this morning. I just told my boss yesterday that I'm pregnant. I knew her reaction was off, now I know why.I can't even process this shit right now.
@allowachick@Dumbgurl04 Their revenue is down, by a lot, since being acquired by a larger CRO company in Dublin, Ireland last year. Budget cuts have been happening a lot lately, but this was the first lay off.
@sapphires-and-diamonds Oh god, I'm so sorry to hear that. I have to imagine if your boss has a heart they must feel horrible. I hope you can find something else quickly and apply for unemployment in the meantime. I'm so sorry girl.
@sapphires-and-diamonds - I’m very sorry! I was laid off just 2 years ago following a corporate takeover. It ended up being a good thing, as I have a job I really like now and super low stress. I hope you got a good severance package! Others have mentioned unemployment and job hunting, both good ideas! Give it a day or two to sink in. It really is crappy timing and I’m very sorry.
@g_amoss Thank you! I will be filing unemployment, unfortunately I worked part time so it won't be a lot. They did give me a weeks pay severance which I suppose is more than a lot of places would do. I just cannot fathom job hunting while pregnant. So ridiculous.
@sapphires-and-diamonds I'm so sorry you're having to deal with that right now and I hope you're able to find something new quickly. And, as sad as it is that it's even a concern, I suppose it's good that you are not visibly pregnant enough that you don't have to disclose the pregnancy to any potential new employer immediately.

@sapphires-and-diamonds I am so very sorry that happened to you. My family is in the same boat, and it is SO stressful. Luckily the job market is really good right now, so my husband found a couple part time jobs to keep us afloat well until he gets another full time job. Hopefully it works out that way for you too.
@sapphires-and-diamonds, so so sorry to hear this! I know it might sound dumb now, but hopefully it means something even better is in your future. Sending good vibes!!
I need to stop reading the comments section on gun-related articles floating around on FB. They always seem to represent the absolute worst of humanity.
Single parents or people whose spouse is frequently gone for work/etc deserve, like, a week each year to celebrate them. I had all three kids by myself tonight for dinner, baths and bed and it was obscenely, stupidly hard. This parenting thing - particularly with multiple young kids - is definitely a two-person job, and if you do it alone on the regular then you are my superhero.

@lindsye My H travels a lot for work and this is one of the things I'm most worried about when it comes to having kids. It's also one of the reasons I can't fathom having more then two.
@JJMNO1616 this is also something I'm worried about. My husband doesn't travel but he goes to work early and gets home late. There are weeks he doesn't get to see DD. With the second one on it's way, I'm freaking.
@JJMNO1616@bchalm ours are all pretty close together (all 2 years apart) and the youngest is still pretty young (16 mo) which is part of why it's so very hard right now. I do know people who do a lot of it on their own regularly and seem to adjust to the situation- I am just in awe of them.

@lindsye me too! I just have one and with the beginning of this pregnancy I've struggled With DH's work schedule. So BIG kudos to parents who do it alone! It's def a full time job.
So, I admit it, I've been spending a ton of time on the bump today lurking on other BMBs. Can I just say that the June 2018 UO thread exceeded all expectations? ETA to add gif because I'm feeling adventurous
@sunshinedays-2 ohhhh mahhhh godddd thank you for that heads up. My actual expression every time another sexist comment was made (AND SHE'S STILL DEFENDING HERSELF):
@ngolimento With all the drive bys we've gotten you would think we would have managed at least one! The June shut down justification seemed like a bit of a stretch though. It still seemed pretty on topic for an UO thread to me.
My husband travels for work too and being a solo parent is hard! Fortunately his travel has slowed down some lately.
I was disappointed my OB didn't try to listen to the HB on the Doppler when I went in yesterday to make sure my UTI was gone. He says he doesn't even try at 10 weeks since you can't always find it. Also right after testing my pee he asked if I had GD last pregnancy which makes me nervous. I know it could just be a random question but I hope there wasn't sugar in my pee or something!
@sunshinedays-2@kmalls Wow. Thanks for the June heads-up. I have been waiting for our crazies to show their true colors, but so far, no dice. Maybe we're actually just a super mellow board??

@sunshinedays-2 I thought the admin step-in was premature too. It was actually a really good discussion. Although I wonder if they sheer number of reports just made the admins go "I don't get paid enough to watch this go down "

I have thought this, @hedgepig. Sure, some of us are prone to snark (myself included) but we have hard-hitting arguments about difficult issues and nearly everyone has responded by being... reasonable. Not ok, you're attacking me, so I hate you and I quit and I'm done. Or you're just a raging biotch and don't deserve to breathe air, etc. Nope, so far we have been able to debate issues and keep it about issues and I think THAT is super unusual for an Internet forum.
Now watch all the crazies emerge just to prove me wrong. Which would actually be fine because, you know, this Friday has got to pass the time somehow.
