I started making L's photo collage for his 1st birthday which we decided to have on his birthday, July 22nd. DH and I were watching a movie as I was on the floor of our living room with a huge cardboard box. I cut it up and configured the bottom half of the number "1" which will have all his pictures displayed over it...eventually...LoL He just looked at me as I started putting layers of masking tape on the project almost as to say, "are you kidding me"? I just replied, "have a little faith" LOL
I had a nightmare last night that my husband served me with divorce papers. I often feel like a terrible wife because 90% of my energy and attention are focused on DS. Which leads to a lot of anxiety about my marriage and if my husband is getting tired of me being "absent". I guess it decided to manifest itself into a really terrible nightmare. Not cool brain, not cool.
Must have been a night for nightmares. I dreamt my husband died. Not sure how but he just was. And I was disheveled and trying to sort out our "new" life. I woke up anxious and freaked out. And told him that I get to go first.
I didn't have a nightmare last night, more like no sleep Not sure what was going on but my mind just seemed to be racing and not with coherent thoughts that I could have written down to ease my mind and go to sleep. Happy Thursday, ladies!
I'm sorry for all the nightmares and lack of sleep!! Nightmares suck!!!
Well th countdown is officially on. It's baby girl's birthday month. Ahhhh!!! Cannot believe soon I'll have a one year old. Just nuts!!! Last year at this time I was getting ready to start my maternity leave!

YAS....Happy birthday to all our future one year olds! For some reason TB wouldn't let me log in yesterday so I resorted to reading our JULY 2016 Birth Announcements forum to pass the time. What a different a year makes!
I think it was last month we were talking about leaps and when the new "tricks" start. M, overnight, can do "so big", give a high five, and knows that the pieces to her puzzle go in the slots and tries (3 piece wood peg puzzle) to make them fit. Babies are very weird and very cool at the same time.
It is so fun watching them figure things out! S is big on "in" and "out" right now. Everything put in and out of her/my purse/bag and the bath bucket (rinse cup), and anything that you can put something in and take it back out of. Stacking- yup, bring it on. She babbles like crazy and then laughs at her own jokes, hahaha
@LDSJM123 So cool! P has learned waving and pointing and clapping this past couple weeks, which seemed like a lot all of the sudden to me too! I haven't even tried 'so big' or high fives, whoops. I'll have to start showing him those so he can practice!

Omg holy tantrums today. Not sure if I'm ready for toddlerhood! Where's my sweet baby?!
in other news - Elijah claps sometimes and waves sometimes. He also drank from the dog's water bowl today and was very proud of himself. Mamas with dogs- do you put the food/water bowls somewhere your babies can't reach? E is super interested in both and our dogs food has dairy and eggs in it...trying to come up with a new game plan.
@austinjl I have an area gated off for now and it works. DS has manages to get around it a few times and I know it isn't a permanent solution. But for now...a gate lol. I may dig out my dogs crate and put his stuff in there but I'm not sure yet
@austinjl Oh yes, the tantrums are beginning here too. Not full on tantrums that last very long yet, but when I put him in his crib for a nap or for bed, or if I take something away that he wants, he goes into that super scream ugly cry mode for a few seconds that is definitely because he is mad! He is currently screaming very angrily because daddy just put him to bed :P

Cool glad it's not just my kid lol. Elijah seems to be tantruming at anything that constrains him- the high chair (even though he likes to eat), the car seat (even though he's fine when we get going), exersaucers that he used to like (though he'll play with them when he's not inside them). It's a throwing head back, arching back, screaming/crying tantrum. Will hope to become more patient (fingers crossed)....
@austinjl Baby J has been throwing some major tantrums. She kicks her legs, cries, screams. If I pick her up or am close enough when I take something away she clamps down with her six teeth. It's definitely not fun. I just take a deep breath and she usually over it.
As far as the water bowl, I just try to block her off from the kitchen whenever possible. If she does manage to go near it, we pick her up (cue her tantrum and biting) and move her elsewhere. I hope she'll get over it.
I cannot believe it's June. Like where did the time go?
Yep! We have had tantrums for a couple months now. She also arches her back and screams. I usually whisper to her and calm her down.
We have our cat dishes in full view. She is not allowed to touch them. I have trained her not to and she remembers more easily now! The only issue is loose cat food not in the dish. I would block it off for allergies too!
We get the frustrated pouty cry tantrums when taking things away, when she's done eating and wants out of the high chair and sometimes for naps/bedtime too. I've started turning on the mobile again to distract her from me leaving the room. Ugh! SO excited for the tantrums to evolve in their toddler mania!!
Yes to all the learning and the tantrums!! DS suddenly consistently high fives, claps, shows you things that he is holding, "shares", opens and closes EVERYTHING, walks like a monster with his walker thingy, and climbs! The tantrums....he instantly starts screaming/crying when you stop him from going where he wants to go or take things away from him. And it's a different cry than his normal one. So yay to that.
We moved the dogs food and water into the laundry room and keep the door closed. Otherwise DS will make a beeline for it and splash/spill her water and eat her food....gross.
Well Baby J has been sleeping through the night for a month. DH and both agreed that we would start TTC once this happened. I am both excited and nervous.
First steps happened today out of nowhere!! Also, the mist function on the garden hose makes for great water playing with a baby. We had lots of fun with that today, that and a red solo cup full of water. Didn't take much haha

@LDSJM123 My friend's baby would only nurse if he could play with the other nipple. I remember she would try everything and I think she said the nursing necklaces helped some times.
Yes with the nipple play. I remove his hands and put him down if he continues after several times. He cries because he wasn't done eating and then I pick him back up and he eats like a dream.
@Jodi1980 I may have just snort laughed at that and startled my son. Who then gave me a wtf look L definitely tries this crap. I redirect him (usually holding his hand or something). It's a work in progress.
L has figured out how to blow kisses! My mom has done it since he was little (like blowing a kiss when going to bed or leaving) and this week he started doing it! Although he uses the back of his hand instead of the inside, it's adorable and he will do it instantly back now if someone does it. What new awesome things you weren't really expecting at the moment are your littles learning/mastering?
@shaylalr Baby j is very good at destroying my towers.
She gives hugs on command now. She also plays peek a boo with our cats when they're sitting on the window behind the curtain. She finds this to be hilarious, the cats just sit there and stare.
Omg!! What the heck...Nipple play!! L has never tried that! That's so funny, lol!!
Yay for all of you with babes doing so many fun things! We need to get L some cool block/puzzle toys. I'd been trying to hold off until after her birthday but maybe I'm doing her a disservice. She really doesn't have anything like that right now.
@DachshundMomma - going up a size is always so bitter sweet!
My fav thing that S is doing now is she gives "lovins"...she comes up and rubs her head all over you like a giant, sweet baby hug! She tried to give "the baby in the mirror" lovins this weekend and just repeatedly smacked her head on the mirror
M totally still fits 6-9- but she needed summer clothes last month when we had a heat wave. So I just bought everything 12 months so it would last. I have to roll the waist down on everything. Our little peanut!

some of you may have seen this floating around Facebook but I thought I'd share it here because I know we can all relate! Too funny & too true

At that point, I make the executive decision that she must not be too hungry if she can play, but its kind of funny. And weird. And funny.
