Re: Clothes: Maternity and Otherwise

  • @lrwardrop do you have any of the Caramel Cantina nursing bras? I followed the link in your last post and the tanks look nice. Just curious if the bras are nice too.

I tried on the nursing bras from I ordered from Target and they're too big. I know my boobs will grow a little more after baby comes but I want something more sports bra like that won't sag or get too tight if my boobs change size.
No I haven't tried any of their bras. Their tanks are made of nice material and are pretty low priced. I bet the bras are pretty similar, probably worth a try

So I know we've talked about Old Navy linen pants on here but can't find the post...we're they maternity or women's? I have $10 old navy credit and thought hey I want some comfy linen pants!

    ETA: found them!
ETA 2: I ended up having $15 in rewards and a code for 10% off using my old navy card and they were 50% off! Ended up only paying $7 when all was said and done, which was basically shipping because they really get you there!

@BabyMC517 I bought the linen pants a few weeks ago for like $10 and free shipping! I hate shipping charges and Gap/old Navy almost never does free shipping. Anyway, the pants are definitely worth it. I bought mine in a small non maternity and they fit me now at 36 weeks because of the awesome drawstring.
  • @chocolatelemons free shipping on like $50 or more...I don't need to spend that right now! haha I ended up getting the large in regular. I'm sure they'll work for right now and lounging around one LO is here! :) They look super comfy!

  • Where have you ladies bought your favorite maternity tanks? I'd love ones I feel comfortable wearing around the house and don't care if someone stops by.
  • All my maternity tanks are about an inch too short these days, hooray!

The ruched side ones from Old Navy worked the best for me though. The unruched ribbed ones from Pea in The Pod were a close second.

  • The tanks I weae the most are liz lange from target although they are getting too short. This is when Iremember I should be glad I have a smaller rack? :p   Because even then, I have to adjust the top so my bra doesnt show then I have to adjust the bottom too. Theres one other that Iis longer but I need to dig it out of the hamper to get the brand.

Shoot pregnancy brain... I meant nursing tanks haha
  • @Cubslove12 - I had two types from Target (for maybe 4 or 5 total). This style was looser around the bottom and the shoulder straps/hooks were not as strong/sturdy - https://www.target.com/p/women-s-nursing-cotton-cami-gilligan-o-malley-153/-/A-13793418 . This was a MUCH tighter style and had great shoulder hooks - https://www.target.com/p/medela-174-women-s-slimming-nursing-cami-with-removable-pads/-/A-51623640 . I liked the first kind to wear around the house, maybe under a thin cardigan. The second kind was better to wear under a t-shirt if I was going out (and wanted to skip a bra!).

  • @Cubslove12 obviously no experience here yet, but I bought one of these: https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=41578&vid=1&pid=600988012 to test out. It's comfy, I look cute, it doesn't have hooks, and I tend to be a little more on the modest side and love that it covers bra straps. I wish it came in more colors though.
  • I tried doing a quick search for this, but didn't find anything, so sorry if someone already covered it. I'm trying to find some nursing bras I like. I think I found a style for around the house/sleeping that'll work well enough. But, I'm looking for a wired (or structured enough wireless) with a demi cup, because full coverage bras just swallow me up. Any demi suggestions?

@starphish18 I bought one that I love recently in both colors, the bellabumbum lotus bra. It's a little spendy but soft, very pretty, and it has a wire channel but no wire, so it supports really softly. It also has an A-frame nursing shape inside instead of a sling, which I find I MUCH prefer. I have G cups right now and my boobs have always been the "hangy " type, meaning they need a lot of support. The sling just pushes my boobs to flop out towards the middle, whereas the lace A-frame gently holds them in place.  I will say this bra is sized a bit small, I ordered a size up (a large) on Amazon and it worked for me as a 34  DDD/G. They also have it at Nordstrom. :)

  • @sweaterboots ooh size twins! I've been too overwhelmed to do much bra research because of my size so I super appreciate your detailed analysis!

My boobs haven't grown much in pregnancy--right before I was at 34G and at 38 weeks I'm wearing my 34H bras that I already had around for boobsy-PMS-y days, but I don't trust them not to go haywire when milk comes in. I got a couple of inexpensive extra-large ones at Target for those initial days but can't wait to look into the lotus bra once things stabilize.
  • @cato99 I hope you find something you like! My issue so far has been that most of the really soft nursing bras out there are *so* stretchy and soft that my boobs just swing around in them, with zero support. Also I'm 5'2" and the distance between the top of my shoulder and the top of my breast is really short. I find most bras don't adjust short enough in the straps to support me the way I want, but this one was perfect!

I needed something I could sleep, nurse, and walk the dogs in, or run to Target, etc. I liked this one so much I've worn to work a few times and got both colors. :) I hope the same size works for you!!

  • @hp_momma Were you the one who also ordered the Gap nursing nightgown? I got mine in Friday but still haven't tried on. Looks super cute though!

Yes!!! I've been meaning to come on here and ask you if you got yours. I tried it on and it's super comfortable. I've even been wearing it to bed a couple times. I want to know how you feel about it compared to the Target one since I haven't bought that one yet.

I'd say they're equally as soft. I plan to wear the Target ones more as dresses during the day and they do not have the clip for easy access nursing. I don't think they'll be difficult, just no clip. I'll try on tonight :)

I caved and bought the Target one tonight! Definitely just as comfortable but could pass more for a real dress than the Gap one. My Gap one is definitely shorter too. Either way they are both super comfortable and I'll probably live in them!

  • @hp_momma I came here to tell you I tried it on and it's so short! I mean, I wear short stuff all the time so NBD, but I'm kind of surprised. Then again, my big big belly definitely doesn't help.

  • @nda_roxybabe I couldn't figure out if it was the belly making it shorter or if it's because I'm tall (5'8)! I don't mind it for sleeping if it's short though!

I'm 5'7, I guess we will see after baby, haha! Perfect for sleep no matter what.

I also bought these and I agree they are short! I was hoping I could use them even if people randomly came over... they will just be the kind of stuff I wear to bed.
  • Not sure if this has already been asked, but has anyone ordered anything from milk nursing wear? They have some really cute dresses but I'm not sure how the sizing is.

  • So this isn't specifically a nursing item, but I mentioned I was having trouble finding nursing bras that fit me. Full coverage bras just swallow my whole chest and never really work. I did find a couple nursing bras that are more of a sports bra style, which will work at home. But I also ended up getting a couple of these "The Date" racerback bras from VS which I figure I can just pop open from the front easily enough. They're incredibly comfortable because of the very broad straps along the back. And they're a demi cup, which is what I was looking for. I figured I'd just mention it in case anyone else was in the same boat as me and wanted a different sort of option.

  • @starphish18 I like those! I was actually looking at the cheapy 3 pack I ordered and thinking I need some sexy nursing bras! Okay, that sounds like sarcasm, but no, for real. Those VS ones might do the trick.

  • @nda_roxybabe They're definitely really cute! I was actually hoping to find something more plain, but no luck (so far). But these are so comfy, I don't even care.
  • @starphish18 those are cute! I wish Victoria's Secret made nursing bras. The size I am in VS bras is different than any other bra brand because I'm very small chested. It's annoying.

@lrwardrop I ended up getting the Carmel Cantina nursing bras and I really like how they feel! A pack of 3 was only $25. The only thing I can see being a problem with them is that the straps are set wider than normal or other nursing bras. I have wide shoulders though so hopefully the straps won't be an issue.
  • Zulily has Leading Lady nursing stuff today. I love their tank tops so I ordered a nightgown and a few other tops. I like that their tops snap down vs has a stretchy neckline that pulls down.
  • Anyone found and cute nursing clothes to wear during the day? I've been looking for some casual dresses with easy access.  Seems like most nursing clothes I find look like obvious nursing items.. Also why would they ever design these clothes with horizontal stripes? ...
  • @lrwardrop I really like Latched Mama. I ordered a few dresses and they're really soft and super flattering.
  • I ordered one dress from Latched Mama, and I think it will look great about 10 pounds down the road.  :#
  • @lrwardrop I got some really cute summery daytime dresses from figure 8.  I think if you hang with other moms they may know they are nursing dresses but other people likely won't have any idea.  I haven't been confident enough to put any of them on since giving birth since were only 6 days PP but I will probably start trying them on next week sometime
