  • I had a nightmare last night that my husband served me with divorce papers. I often feel like a terrible wife because 90% of my energy and attention are focused on DS. Which leads to a lot of anxiety about my marriage and if my husband is getting tired of me being "absent". I guess it decided to manifest itself into a really terrible nightmare. Not cool brain, not cool.
  • Must have been a night for nightmares. I dreamt my husband died. Not sure how but he just was. And I was disheveled and trying to sort out our "new" life. I woke up anxious and freaked out. And told him that I get to go first.
  • I didn't have a nightmare last night, more like no sleep :( Not sure what was going on but my mind just seemed to be racing and not with coherent thoughts that I could have written down to ease my mind and go to sleep. Happy Thursday, ladies!
  • so sorry ladies!  Those are horrible dreams!
  • #sleeplessthursdays needs to be a thing evidently. DS slept like crap too which didn't help at all
  • Those nightmares sound awful :( we got no sleep last night either.. E is finally getting her first tooth and she was up every hour last night.
  • @TiffRox81 Omg I know, I can't believe E will be 1 in just a few weeks!
  • @LDSJM123 So cool! P has learned waving and pointing and clapping this past couple weeks, which seemed like a lot all of the sudden to me too! I haven't even tried 'so big' or high fives, whoops. I'll have to start showing him those so he can practice!

  • Omg holy tantrums today.  Not sure if I'm ready for toddlerhood!  Where's my sweet baby?!

in other news - Elijah claps sometimes and waves sometimes.  He also drank from the dog's water bowl today and was very proud of himself.  Mamas with dogs- do you put the food/water bowls somewhere your babies can't reach? E is super interested in both and our dogs food has dairy and eggs in it...trying to come up with a new game plan.
  • @austinjl I have an area gated off for now and it works. DS has manages to get around it a few times and I know it isn't a permanent solution. But for now...a gate lol. I may dig out my dogs crate and put his stuff in there but I'm not sure yet
  • @austinjl Oh yes, the tantrums are beginning here too. Not full on tantrums that last very long yet, but when I put him in his crib for a nap or for bed, or if I take something away that he wants, he goes into that super scream ugly cry mode for a few seconds that is definitely because he is mad! He is currently screaming very angrily because daddy just put him to bed :P

  • Cool glad it's not just my kid lol.  Elijah seems to be tantruming at anything that constrains him- the high chair (even though he likes to eat), the car seat (even though he's fine when we get going), exersaucers that he used to like (though he'll play with them when he's not inside them).  It's a throwing head back, arching back, screaming/crying tantrum.  Will hope to become more patient (fingers crossed)....
  • @austinjl  Baby J has been throwing some major tantrums. She kicks her legs, cries, screams. If I pick her up or am close enough when I take something away she clamps down with her six teeth. It's definitely not fun. I just take a deep breath and she usually over it.

As far as the water bowl, I just try to block her off from the kitchen whenever possible. If she does manage to go near it, we pick her up (cue her tantrum and biting) and move her elsewhere. I hope she'll get over it.

I cannot believe it's June. Like where did the time go?

some of you may have seen this floating around Facebook but I thought I'd share it here because I know we can all relate! Too funny & too true
  • Yep! We have had tantrums for a couple months now. She also arches her back and screams. I usually whisper to her and calm her down.

We have our cat dishes in full view. She is not allowed to touch them. I have trained her not to and she remembers more easily now! The only issue is loose cat food not in the dish. I would block it off for allergies too!
  • @shaylalr YES back arches are worse than the screams sometimes.....LMAO

  • We get the frustrated pouty cry tantrums when taking things away, when she's done eating and wants out of the high chair and sometimes for naps/bedtime too. I've started turning on the mobile again to distract her from me leaving the room. Ugh! SO excited for the tantrums to evolve in their toddler mania!!

Yes to all the learning and the tantrums!! DS suddenly consistently high fives, claps, shows you things that he is holding, "shares", opens and closes EVERYTHING, walks like a monster with his walker thingy, and climbs! The tantrums....he instantly starts screaming/crying when you stop him from going where he wants to go or take things away from him. And it's a different cry than his normal one. So yay to that.

We moved the dogs food and water into the laundry room and keep the door closed. Otherwise DS will make a beeline for it and splash/spill her water and eat her food....gross.
  • Tantrums have been running rampant in this home too. Especially at bed time. He fights me 5 out if 7 nights a week. It's draining.
  • Yea same with the nipple fidgeting.  It's like he's getting the other one ready in case he wants to switch sides.  It's really unpleasant!
  • FTM53FTM53 member
Yes with the nipple play. I remove his hands and put him down if he continues after several times. He cries because he wasn't done eating and then I pick him back up and he eats like a dream.
  • Omg!! What the heck...Nipple play!! L has never tried that! That's so funny, lol!!

Yay for all of you with babes doing so many fun things! We need to get L some cool block/puzzle toys. I'd been trying to hold off until after her birthday but maybe I'm doing her a disservice. She really doesn't have anything like that right now.
