This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say, and treat this like an ongoing conversation.

Band geek- played the flute. Figure skater and did some partying (guess that was an interest). Now I still figure skate, mostly coach it don't really skate for myself anymore. I've picked up gardening and running (need to do this more). Love going out on our boat and walks with our dog. I would like to be doing more reading and yoga. Oh and I'm way more responsible with my partying.

GTKY: Looking at personal growth. What were your hobbies/sports/interests in high school? What hobbies/sports/interests do you have now or want to have?
In high school I hated sports, thought all the clubs were stupid and I had a part time job, so I worked at a florist 4 days a week and the other days I hung out with my friends, or watched my little sister soo...kind of nothing. Now I hike a lot, I spin and I looooove to cook (and eat).
@kiwi2628 Hugs for the not-so-positive days
Cycle/CD: Month 7/Cycle 4/CD40
Any questions?
GTKY: I didn't really have an identity in HS. I did volleyball, cheerleading, theatre, choir, honors society, I took stats for the wrestling team, and so many other random things. I did whatever. Nowadays it's knitting, my professional society, and binge watching tv plus my new-found hobbies of yoga and hunting for paleo recipes.

BFP June, 21 2017 | EDD March 4, 2018
@kiwi2628 Oh wow that is exciting you are starting a medicated IUI cycle!! I hope that is the little boost you guys need to make it happen.
@LoveInDC It really seems like you have been doing well lately and I am happy for you!
Cycle/CD: 1 year 6 months I lost count of the rest.
Any questions? I have a couple. Should I expect my usual LP following ER? For those of you that have had an ER, how long did your doctor say to wait before exercising again? My instructions were no exercise for two weeks! I could really use some exercise. My pants are still so tight.
GTKY: Looking at personal growth. What were your hobbies/sports/interests in high school? What hobbies/sports/interests do you have now or want to have? I played sports in high school and I still enjoy running and working out. I like to mix it up with different classes now to make it more interesting. No team sports. Traveling is something I picked up later in life and it is definitely my favorite thing along with trying new food and wine.
Hi ladies! I’ve been lurking this thread for a few months both to keep up with some friends and also for the day I would join you all. I’m just coming back from taking a bit of a bump break (DD and TW for pregnancy in spoiler box) and I’m not sure I can take posting in the daily threads.
@leekat14 Good luck today!!!!!!!! So excited to hear how it went!!!
@kiwi2628 I’m sorry you’ve been on such a rollercoaster of emotions recently. I’ve been stalking you pretty hard when you stopped posting every day in the daily threads. Hugs for the spiral of sad friend!
@LoveInDC I’m glad you are kind of zen currently. I hope it lasts for you as we all know how difficult this journey is.
@saralee797-2 Fx for your 2 little embabies!!! You’re another whose journey I’ve been creepily stalking and I’m sorry for the bad week last week but hoping you get some good news and a plan in place to move forward!
Diagnosis (If you've been): Hyperprolactinemia
Cycle/CD: 16, 18
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW, 6 DPO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Trying on our own for 3 cycles before pursuing further treatment
How are things going? Meh, some days are better than others. Just a brief history for those that haven’t followed in the past, I had an appt with an RE in December and it took a few months for me to get the testing she requested done (SA, HSG, Progesterone and Prolactin). She doesn’t do CD3 testing unless the other things all come back normal. The only thing that came back abnormal was the prolactin, they tested twice just to be sure it wasn’t a fluke and it was still high. They did an MRI to check for a prolactin-secreting tumor (MRI was clear) so they put me on 1.25 mg/day of bromocriptine. They just retested and my prolactin has been regulated so we have agreed that I would try on our own for 3 cycles before pursuing further treatment.
Any questions? The nurse that I deal with at the REs office said that the RE told her if my cycles have not regulated, she would do Femara and if they have, she would do Clomid. I thought clomid is generally used for those who don’t usually ovulate, so I’m wondering if I should question this should we get to that point (I know I’m putting the cart before the horse, I like to be informed and plan ahead of time just in case)
GTKY: Looking at personal growth. What were your hobbies/sports/interests in high school? What hobbies/sports/interests do you have now or want to have? In high school, I was on a swim team at a local rec center (I really wasn’t that great), as well as a water polo team and I was a pretty big book nerd. Now, I sometimes try to run, knit when the mood strikes me and am an even bigger book nerd.

@lulu1180 Hey girl! So excited(?) you decided to join in here. Hugs for the hard couple of weeks. FX these next cycles are it for you and you won't even have to worry about medicated cycles! As for the drugs, Clomid and Femara are both used to induce ovulation/regulate cycles. It looks like your RE uses Clomid for a nudge and Femara for a shove for irregular cycles. As long as they're familiar with both and are chosing with purpose, I say you're in good hands

BFP June, 21 2017 | EDD March 4, 2018
Also, thank you everyone for all your support over the weekend. I don't know what I would do without you ladies. It means the world to me that you walked those ups and downs with me. All my love.
@lulu1180 Clomid is a pretty standard first step treatment for IF. I ovulate on my own and was given clomid the first two cycles of treatment to a) see how I responded to any treatment and b) make sure my ovaries didn't just need a little extra boost.
Diagnosis (If you've been): DOR
Cycle/CD: CD 17
Meanwhile I'm researching donor eggs. There isn't a lot of consistent chatter on the bump about DE so I'm dipping my toe into other forums. If feels very foreign to me.
Any questions?
GTKY: Looking at personal growth. What were your hobbies/sports/interests in high school? What hobbies/sports/interests do you have now or want to have? I did theater in high school and still enjoy live theater. I wasn't athletic at all when I was younger but in my late 20's got very into distance running and kept it up until I started TTC.

@kiwi2628 I'm glad you're moving forward and starting YOU. GL!
@lulu1180 welcome, though I'm sorry you find yourself here. As others have said, Clomid is a pretty typical first step. I'msure other ladies can give you much more info on it than I would be able to.
@saralee797-2 I'm sorry you had such a roller coaster of a weekend, but yay for 2 freezies!
Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI & ovulatory dysfunction
Cycle/CD: month 26, CD33
Eh, okay. All is stagnant as far as TTC is concerned. I didn't post last week due to startiing the new job. I'm feeling ambivalent about it and hoping that those feelings are just because of my mood right now. So far the people are great though, so that's good.
Any questions?
Nope.
GTKY: Looking at personal growth. What were your hobbies/sports/interests in high school? What hobbies/sports/interests do you have now or want to have?
So I wasn't really involved in sports or clubs in high school because we moved around too much. I never really got acclimated. I did, and still do, read a lot, and since high school I've taken up new hobbies like knitting and crocheting.
@kiwi2628 Maybe I missed this but why are you doing BCP before a clomid cycle? I don't think I've ever heard of that before -- just for IVF.
@loveindc I'm so glad things are going okay and you're feeling calmer
@saralee797 I'm so thrilled for your two embryos! And I'm so glad this crappy weekend is behind you friend. I hope you can get that next steps appointment on the books really soon.
@lulu1180 I'm happy you are here (though of course sad anyone is here). I have no idea why they'd differentiate femara and clomid that way... but I also know nothing about your diagnosis other than what you've shared, so maybe that's specific to prolactin issues? Like @saralee797 said, my RE told me that Femara usually produces 1 strong follicle, maybe two, while Clomid can produce many. Maybe they also want you to get better chances with more follies?
@ladymillil Thinking of you today! Hoping for good news.
@laurad75 I'm so sorry friend
And yeah, that article kind of made me roll my eyes -- what like an HSG isn't performed anymore? Just about everybody gets an HSG.
(TW) I did get pregnant the cycle of my HSG and even I rolled my eyes at some of the comments about how it is a miracle treatment, even though it did 100% seem like a miracle to me personally.
Cycle/CD: N/A
Any questions?
GTKY: I've been looking for a new hobby too so this was a helpful question @leekat14 ! My main hobbies are cooking and reading. I played the viola in high school and I'm thinking about getting back into that.
@kiwi2628 will you be starting clomid and IUI on cd 3 if you get your period or the next cycle after that? I've never heard of using bcp for an IUI just for IVF I'm very interested about this why are they doing it? Glad things are moving forward!
@LoveInDC what is the plan for your first medicated cycle once AF shows? So sorry for the long cycle but I'm glad to hear you have been thinking about TTC less!
@saralee797-2 let us know when you get the call what your next steps will be!
@lulu1180 missed you!! I've seen you love-titting last week and were hoping you'd be back soon! Sorry to see you here but glad that you are finally getting some answers. Does your RE think the high prolactin levels could cause short cycles? I am on femara now even though I have been ovulating regularly, looks like I've had about 2 follies per month since starting medicated cycles
@laurad75 I hope this week flies by for you so you can get some more answers next week and I'm glad you are also getting a second opinion hopefully that will give some more options. So sorry girl, so many hugs
@zwink1 glad to hear the people are great at the new job, hope the transition goes well. Will you do treatment next cycle or will YH testing extend past that?
Cycle/CD: 17, cd 16
Letrozole, trigger, IUI
had my IUI on Saturday, guess I will call Saturday O day since it was 36 hours after my trigger shot. I stopped temping because the morning after trigger my temp was really high and I didn't know if it was from the trigger and obviously an OPK would've been positive from the trigger. So now we wait. Usually I'm okay in the TWW but this is gonna be a tough one for the wait especially since *TW* my best friend just told me yesterday she is KU after saying she didn't want more kids (her son just turned 2). I cried when she told me I think from the meds I've been emotional, I am excited for her but that one really took me by surprise and I wasn't expecting it. Of course it was awkward to talk about treatment after she spent a lot of time saying her husband got her on the first try. Ugh, I love her and know she means well but besides this group I feel like there are many people who just don't understand end TW*
Any questions?
is it worth temping? I will consider Saturday O day I guess it would be better off not bothering with it
GTKY: Looking at personal growth. What were your hobbies/sports/interests in high school? What hobbies/sports/interests do you have now or want to have?
honestly I need to work on this area. I went to grad school right after my bachelors although I worked full time as I got hired from my internship when I graduated and ever since then my life has been work, clinical exam, licensing, and independent licensing. I'm angry I spent so much time on work instead of personal growth and family but lesson learned
Dysfunctional bleeding, low AMH, MFI low morph and count
Cycle 31
IVF+ICSI
Just waiting for the call from the lab with the fertilization report. They call between 11-2 so still 2-5 hours to wait. Started progesterone this morning to prep for transfer. I'm taking 200mg every 8 hours so I'm going to have to take a dose at work.
@LadyMillil good luck! Sorry you have to take more progesterone at work! Let us know when you get the callback!
@kiwi2628 I completely agree about IF being a roller coaster. It's so hard to keep positive sometimes but I have fx that the IUI next cycle works for you.
@LoveInDC I'm glad you were able to get your mind of TTC and focus on other things. I've been trying to do that as well and I feel like it keeps me in a better headspace.
@saralee797-2 I'm so glad you were able to get two embabies frozen, fx for you!!
@lulu1180 I'm happy to see you posting again, but I'm sorry you find yourself in here. I hope the regulated prolactin will work for you. As for your question, I'm on Clomid this cycle for our IUI and I ovulate like clockwork every month. I think they put you on it to increase your chances. In our case, since we're unexplained, the RE said it would help in case there was a problem with egg meeting sperm--for instance if the egg wasn't getting picked up by the fallopian tube on one side, dropping an egg from both sides would increase our chances. Not sure if that's the same for everyone though.
@laurad75 I'm so sorry for your bad news last week. I hope your research into donor eggs goes well and that the doctors are able to provide you with some options for moving forward.
@zwink1 starting a new job is tough, I hope you can get adjusted soon and that you end up liking it!
@adirat I'm so sorry you're going through this rough time. I hope you're able to get off the bench soon.
@beachbunnyxo123 I'm so sorry that your friend surprised you like that. It is hard not to be emotional at this point and the added hormones just make it worse.
Cycle/CD: 18/5
Any questions? Those of you that did the trigger shot, did you give it to yourself or have someone else do it?
GTKY: Looking at personal growth. What were your hobbies/sports/interests in high school? What hobbies/sports/interests do you have now or want to have? In high school I was big into choir, musical theatre, and reading. Now, I still love to sing but haven't done it on stage in years, but I read more than ever and have recently got into cross stitching.

@laurad75, yeah... eyeroll from me to the HSG article. Though, thankfully, no one has sent it to me. My RE tells us the improved odds are 6 months, not 3...not sure how much I believe her. She's too optimistic for me, lol. So far, no go. I suppose we still have a couple months though.
@beachbunnyxo123 I'm sorry you had such a rough weekend. All of the hugs to you. Theoretically, H's testing should be done already. It's just BW and an ultrasound at this time. But, he's been procrastinating so that he doesn't make it "real." I don't understand his logic, but I'm trying to be supportive. We don't want to start treatment until we exhaust our options for trying to find a cause for his issue because it just seems like a waste otherwise. I haven't been pushy because I had to start a new job, so we're holding of on treatment for a few months for FMLA to kick in anyway, though we're still going au natural in the meantime.

Any questions?
GTKY: Looking at personal growth. What were your hobbies/sports/interests in high school? What hobbies/sports/interests do you have now or want to have? I feel like I've done a 180. EDD: March 24, 2018 - angel baby at 21 weeks
@saralee797-2 I am so excite for your 2 embabies!!!
@lulu1180 welcome back! I think going on clomid is pretty common. I O very regularly and they are starting me on clomid for 2 reasons- a) you can get more mature eggs, and b) you can get more of them, and as my RE said, the more eggs and sperm I put together, the more likely I get a baby out of it
@laurad75 I want to give you so many hugs. Good luck on finding an DE. And yes, that article made me fucking RAGEY
@zwink1 congrats on starting the new job! Hopefully you start to warm up to it, especially since the people seem good
@adirat They are starting me on BC to push off O. I am set to O when I am on vacation in Maine, so it is either use BC for a week to push back O a week, or skip this cycle and wait until July. Fuck. That. Noise. I am done waiting. And hugs for everything you have been through adi
@beachbunnyxo123 see what I wrote to @adirat . I will be doing BC from CD1-7, and then stopping, which will then make CD the new CD1 (but without the blood), they then wait 4 days, do an u/s to check my uterine lining, and if it is thickening up, I start clomid the next day (CD '5'). And YAY for your IUI!!!!!! Fx so hard for you!
@kiwi2628 high five to my BCP companions. Good luck with the medicated cycle!!
@LoveInDC hugs. I'm glad you're able to think of things outside of TTC, it can be hard to focus on anything else but it sounds like the lifestyle change has kept you busy and has multiple benefits
@saralee797-2 I'm sorry the weekend was tough, I was following along all weekend. Fingers crossed that the FET gets scheduled and goes smoothly.
@beachbunnyxo123 FX so hard for your IUI. It's so tough when people don't understand the TTC process. *TW I spent the weekend with my friend who is 12 weeks (first try) and she said a lot of inconsiderate things that I had to brush off TW*
@adirat
EDD: March 24, 2018 - angel baby at 21 weeks

@zwink1 It’s hard to not let TTC stress creep into other areas. Hopefully you get some excitement about your new job soon. I’m glad you’re enjoying your new coworkers though!
@adirat Thanks friend
Sending some positivity your

@beachbunnyxo123 We’re doing 50 of Clomid days 3-7 this cycle to see if that will get me to O. Hopefully that’ll be the trick! FX your IUI was the trick for you. Hugs for friends never knowing what to say. FWIW, I would have cried and I’m on zero meds ATM. That just sucks.
@shortstack930 Thanks! FX for you this cycle

@lulu1180 You've probably heard me say this before but in case you haven't I'm a result of bromocriptine w/ TI
@zwink1 I hope your new job ambivalence fades as you get used to it. Starting a new job is always stressful
@beachbunnyxo123 I'm sorry you're having to go through that with your friend. Many FX for you this cycle!
AFM I did finally get some positive OPKs and probably Oing this week, but I think I'm going to mostly lurk here for a few weeks until my treatment actually starts so that I don't end up clogging up the thread with 50 posts about how I'm waiting for my treatment to start. I'll probably have bunch of questions then, but for now, just rooting for all of you guys!!

@lulu1180 *hugs* Glad you're here, sad that you have to be. I'll be xing my fs for you these next few months.
@saralee797-2 So happy for your two frosties!
@laurad75 I think the frustrating thing about that article is a similar frustration to other illnesses, like cancer. It is not just one thing - therefore it will not ALL be solved with one treatment. There are people who have partially clogged tubes. So yes, and HSG does work if that's the ONLY problem you're having. But an HSG doesn't do shit for literally any other infertility Dx. I think well meaning people are super uncomfortable sitting with other people in their pain, so instead they say "OH BY HEY HERE'S THE CURE!" and it makes them feel good to say that, but it's just so unhelpful to us...
Sending hugs out to everyone - it sounds like a lot of us are on the down side of that roller coaster ride. Please please please remember to show yourself a lot of love during this time. Think of it just like taking medicine. Don't feel guilty, don't put it off.
Cycle/CD: Ummm I think this will be cycle 16. I think today will be CD1, but it's hard to tell because apparently I don't spot on BCP.
Any questions? Nope
GTKY: Looking at personal growth. What were your hobbies/sports/interests in high school? What hobbies/sports/interests do you have now or want to have? In high school I did a lot of art, dance, and gymnastics. Now I'm a yoga/art teacher. So.... I guess that worked out well.
Thank you everyone for the welcome to the thread as well as the information on clomid. I do have another question. For starters, I did ask this question of the RE and she basically said it would be discussed if/when we meet to discuss further treatment after the 3 cycles trying on our own. My periods have been sssuuuuuuuppppeeerrrrr light and short (like I’m basically just spotting heavily by CD2) and I fear that I’ve got an issue with a thin lining which has been measured in an u/s checking for cysts before and it was under 6 mm. Anywho, does anyone know of something that can help thicken my lining? I’ve tried pom juice (don’t like the taste) and vitamin E but haven’t really noticed any difference. I’ve also read that L-arginine can help but I’ve read that it can also negatively affect egg quality so I’m not sure on that. I do have RRLT at home waiting for the next CD1 to try and help but wanted to get some input from you ladies as well.
@laurad75 I’m so sorry you’ve had such a rough time recently. I hope that you are able to get some insight either from your Dr or the second opinion. Also, I saw that article. I completely rolled my eyes and wanted to scream at it because obviously it didn’t work for me.
@zwink1 I’m glad your new job seems to be going fairly well. I hope that you start to feel a better and are able to get some answers soon from YH testing.
@adirat The RE mentioned in the consultation back in December that if everything had come back normal, she would start on clomid. I think it was because of the issues I was having with the short, an-O cycles and perhaps Femara would help with that…? Also, keeping fx so hard that you get your rainbow baby soon and don’t have to TTC long!
@beachbunnyxo123 She didn’t really say if she thought the prolactin caused the short cycles; I did do some research on my own that told me that elevated prolactin can caused reduced levels of estrogen which could possibly help explain the scantiness of EWCM and the thin lining. Also, I’m so sorry for your friend. Sometimes I feel like no matter how much you talk to people about IF, they just don’t get it and may never get it. So many hugs friend!
@LadyMillil Keeping fx for a good report for you! I’m sorry you have to deal with the progesterone at work.
@shortstack930 Glad the clomid is going well for you. Fx it’s just what you need! FWIW my sister has twins (she did not do IF treatments) and she somehow figured out how to handle them both, although she also had my nephew (he was 11 at the time) to help her although it was minimal.
@haylsbayls Fx for your surgery! I hope it helps you and you get your BFP soon after! How long will you be benched afterwards?
@vflux33 Now that you say that, I remember seeing you mention it before! I hope that the next few weeks go by quickly so you can get treatment started!
@eggplantface Thanks so much friend! Yes to staying out of the daily threads. I just hit my breaking point and I honestly didn’t even lurk them last week. And thanks for the compliment (I don’t think I’ve ever had someone tell me they enjoy my wit before!) OMG I can’t believe you’re almost there! Fingers and toes and everything crossed for you girl!
@KristoKekerooni I’m sorry that CD1 for Cycle 40 would land on your anniversary! I hope for your sake that your body decides to be just irregular enough to hold it off!
@antoto I saw somewhere on a thread that one of the questions asked was “What are you doing for YOU today?” And I wonder if that’s something that may help in this thread; just a thought that was triggered by your comment about showing ourselves love. Also, yay for the cyst being gone! Can’t wait for your ER and impending FET! I’m so excited for you IVF ladies and keeping everything crossed! I can’t wait to see the grad thread blow up from one of your BFPs!!!

@haylsbayls Yep, I've heard good things about RRLT for this issue. And if I hadn't seen the info on an u/s I wouldn't be quite as concerned but my periods seem to have gotten lighter since we started TTC. Hopefully I'll find the perfect combination for me!

@saralee797-2 definitely follow the exercise instructions. You can get something called ovarian torsion (your ovaries twist and cut off blood flow). So take it easy for awhile, the swelling will go down.
@adirat I hope you get a negative test soon, friend.
@shortstack930 I did my own trigger shot back when we were doing that. But you could totally have your H do it if you're freaked out about it.
@eggplantface woohoo, I hope everything goes great friday. I'm so excited for your FET!
@antoto yay for stimming! Did I miss an update on your breast thing? Have you had the mammogram yet?
Cycle/CD: 18/4
Any questions?
GTKY: Looking at personal growth. What were your hobbies/sports/interests in high school? What hobbies/sports/interests do you have now or want to have?
In high school I read a lot, hung out with friends, journaled.
These days I still like to read and hang out with girlfriends but I don't really journal much anymore. I've also been getting into yoga
@kiwi2628 I love to cook too, didn't think about putting that down! Sorry this wasn't your cycle but glad you have a plan.
@LoveInDC I'm glad you aren't stressing about TTC as much, maybe a break was just what you needed.
@lulu1180 welcome back, my Dr put me on clomid and I was ovaluting on my own, maybe for the extra boost? I also believe that acupuncture improved my flow. No days of spotting for me and I used to have a leave 4 each cycle
@laurad75 I'm so sorry things aren't going well. FAX that you get some answers at your appointment next week.
@zwink1 Glad you like the new people you are working with. Remind me is the new job something in your field or something new?
@adirat I asked the question too because I was looking for something new...I'm trying to read more but honestly have a hard time finding books that keep my interest.
@beachbunnyxo123
Yay for IUI! I hope this tww goes quickly for you
@ladymillil I'm sorry you have to do progresterone at work. Is it a shot or pill? Fx for you!
@haylsbayls HS was a lot of bad influences for me to. My how we've grown!
@vflux33 Thank you! Clog away if you need to. We are here with answers
@eggplantface Your FET is just around the corner! Have you started any meds for it?
@KristoKekerooni
Did you check out the cny fertility site? They have a lot of their pricing on there. My egg retrieval was $4000 today
@antoto Woo hoo it begins!!!!! I'm so excited for you.
AFM...
Egg retrieval only got me two eggs today. I'm really bummed. I thought maybe this would work for me. Now just wait and see if we end up with anything or if we have to start again.
