@divinemsm620 if you really like Max, don't let it being common ruin it. My husband grew up going by a nickname derived from his middle name...but what about Maxwell Gideon? Flipping the names still, in my opinion, sounds very nice and gives you the nickname name first. I also like the way Maxwell and Louis sound together in either order. Good luck!

ETA: Phineas is one of my all time favorite boy names that my husband shot down right off the bat. Phineas Maxwell? Honestly, all your names are awesome!

@iheartichi I agree with @HollyGolightly09 that the middle name Murray works the best with a one syllable last name :-)

    @labby18 I love it!

:D Yaaaaas that's how I feel about mine!!
Is he still not loving it?
Whoops totes didn't see this. Yea, he still doesn't love it. The conversation hasn't really gone anywhere except us naying a few suggestions from each other.

  • @iheartichi I also like Taylor Murray best.

@labby18 That is a great name!

@divinemsm620 I like Gideon Maxwell, but I agree about the lack of nn potential. I have seen Ian or Deon suggested as potential nns for Gideon that you might not have considered.

  • @bridge-and-wall hmm, I hadn't thought of those! The desire for a nickname comes in part because neither of us have nickname-able names and it makes us sad.

@iheartichi personally, i really like Taylor Wright!
  • @divinemsm620 I love all the names for your boy, but like @wineren said, I kind of love the way Maxwell and Louis go together. It's so hard!

And DHs pick is Taylor Wright as well, he thinks Murray sounds old. I just don't know, I like them all.

  • @sugarpixxie2 Actually, that's pretty cute :)

All in all, I'm rather warming up to Gideon as first name. We are working our way through a MASSIVE baby name book and I'm comparing everything to Gideon and haven't yet found something I like more.

New middle name possibility of David...thoughts? Another OT name and it starts with a D so we would be naming him after DH's grandmother. If we go with Maxwell, we would be naming him after grandfather.
  • We are pretty set on Charlotte nn Charlie for our baby girl...our trouble is with picking a middle name. Since her first and last names will be pretty long we're looking for a one syllable middle name. My favorite so far is Lane (Laine?) but SO is not feeling it.
  • I asked H last night if he had put any more thought into baby names (refresher: he wants to wait to meet baby before we decide 100% - I reluctantly agreed, as long as we have THREE already picked out with middle names, and we decide between those three). He has only offered up one name so far, and that was weeks ago (and it was wretched).

Anyway, so he said he hasn't thought of any names specifically, but that he kind of likes the idea of a B first name, then the kid could potentially go by BB, like his grand dad did. I said well.... you should start a list of B first names then. I put my legwork in already.

    --------------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure how I feel about Gideon David - I like the flow of it, but his initials would be GD which I feel is not the biblical kind of vibe you're going for. But I do like Maxwell Gideon or Gideon Maxwell.

I think it would depend on your last name. Charlotte Laine feels a little heavy on the L sounds.
  • Charlotte Anne? @hmclaren

Anne is short like Laine and has the same sort of sounds but without the L if you agree with PP that it's heavy on the L sounds (I personally don't mind sounds repeated twice, but I think Anne is a more feminine sounding name than Laine/Lane, which I do prefer myself).

My thought is kind of dependent on the last name. Eg, if it's something like Lewis or Lawrence, then that's a lot of llllllllllllll sounds, not necessarily good or bad, but a lot.

    Edit for spelling
  • @jena333-2 that is a good point about the initials. I'm not sure anyone would notice, especially, but I get what you're saying. I'm trying to avoid spelling a word. My poor SIL has initials NAM and was born in the late 60s.

I like the idea of BB for your LO's initials!! It could even become a nickname if you wanted. I was thinking about Max for a first name with MM for the initials, and with Nathan as a middle name it would be MNM. Like the candy. :)
  • @jena333-2 I definitely see what you're saying about the L sounds, luckily there's no L's in her last name. SO knows someone with the name Laine so I'm pretty sure he's gonna veto it anyways  :'(

@BigBadWolf12 I hadn't thought of Anne but i like that a lot! Someone recently suggested Rose too which i didn't love at first but it's growing on me. I kind of agree on the more feminine middle name too especially if we call her Charlie.

I think we'll just have to have a couple names in mind and decide when we meet her  :)
  • @hmclaren Charlie Ann was actually in the top 3 for my oldest. I love the way it flows. We went with Willow Ann instead but I vote Charlotte Ann! Maybe I am a little biased. Lol
  • @hmclaren  Yeah, I would probably want something a little girlier if you plan to call her Charlie.

I like Charlotte Rose! Kate would be nice, too.

@hmclaren We're actually using Laine as our little one's middle name! It's my sister's name and I've always loved it, plus it works well with the first name we chose (Louisa). That being said, it can definitely read as more gender neutral, while Charlotte Kate and Charlotte Rose are both absolutely adorable. They're beautiful and feminine, but not overly twee. That's such a hard balance to find. Lovely choices!
  • @MrsJessS I like William Charles, it's strong and classic.

  • @MrsJessS great combination!
  • @MrsJessS like others have said. Not a mouth full at all! Classic and strong!
  • @MrsJessS not a mouthful. It's a strong, classic name.

DH randomly commented that he really likes the name Enzo. What other names go with Enzo!?!? Haha. Like if end up with two boys or a boy and a girl what would the other kid be called?

Dont get me wrong, I like the name Enzo, I just feel like it will be so hard to pair with something else.

  • @cmar1006 I'm in that boat! DS is Renzo (after the Italian architect) and we're struggling to find a boy name to go with it. We're considering another name that ends in "o" or one that starts with "R". We shall see. Enzo is a great name, if you decide to go with it!

  • @cmar1006  Hmm... I like Enzo, but it is hard to pair! What about Ezra? Similar but easier maybe?

    With Enzo...
    Milo (too matchy?)
    Linus
    Finn
    Sebastian
    Felix

I like all these names. Ezra I love, but I feel like it's getting really trendy.

Milo DH doesnt love. Felix he hates. The rest we haven't really talked about.

I'm really not trying to come up with 6 names so I have just been putting the names on the backburner for now. Just a few more days...

  • Team Pink and pretty stuck. My husband and I don't have the same taste in girl names. We have names we both "like" but the ones we both have our hearts set on the other hates. We have come to the conclusion that we both just need to like it and we will grow to love it as we attach it to her. Making a list is pretty difficult still.

    So far we like
    Luna
    Nora
    Lucia
    and Cora
  • Cora is so pretty.
All good choices, but of them I like Cora.

  • I've been stuck on the name Kyler for a while now. And now that I know it's a boy!!!! Kyler Voiye will be his name.
  • @sierralouwho I really love Luna and Cora. I'm more of a fan of Luna since that's my dogs name. I love it for a human and now I can't use that. I went through a faze where we named all our pets after different Gods and Goddesses. Lol
  • @sierralouwho I like Cora and Nora :)
@MrsJessS William Charles is a great classic name. You can't go wrong with that!
We found out baby is a girl last week! My top choice is Violet with possibles middles names of Quinn or Mae. We are also considering Audra Rose. Siblings are Nolan and Alexandra :)

I also love the name Luna. My friend's daughter is Luna (the only one I've ever met) and she's just the sweetest

@TLooney17 Both Violet and Audra are gorgeous first names! I love all your possible combinations so much.
  • Is Lane a boy's name or a girl's name? Or is it both? Or would you spell it Laine for a girl?
  • @sarahufl I've known both boys and girls with the name, including my sister, but to me Lane is unisex and Laine is a strictly feminine spelling.

That is kind of what I thought, too.
