What a crazy day today has been. Slept horrible and woke up miserable. My puppy climbed into bed after I got out and got under my sheets, which was adorable. Had my shower at work today and I'm blown away by how generous they were. I got a lot in buy buy baby gift cards, a personalized bag from llbean, clothes and some toys. Then on my way to my second location for the day, my car breaks down. DH says it's likely my fuel pump and I'm now in the tow truck on my way home. I really have to pee and I'm 50 min away from home lol plus side is tonight is my late night and typically get home at 8, now I'll be home at 2:30pm. AW my shower and my dog lol
@Jens_Hoes What a day! The shower looks adorable an ahhh puppeh! I'm sorry about your car though, it's been putting you through the ringer this pregnancy.
@Jkp7749 Congratulations on those beautiful baby girls! I gasped out loud (in a quiet lab) at how adorable they are! I'm sorry things have been rough over the past couple of weeks. That all sounds really difficult, and I hope things get easier on you soon. You've got this! Glad you checked in
@Jens_Hoes What a rollercoaster of a day! I hope the car issues get resolved and the rest of the day is smooth sailing. Your work shower looks adorable, and I don't think I knew the name you picked--it's so beautiful!
@Jkp7749 Im glad your taking it all in stride. So sorry to hear about the health issues. I remember mastitis and it was no joke. Hoping your little ones keep getting big and strong! @Jens_Hoes gorgeous photos and cute pup! Sorry about the car and the having to pee! Hope things start to turn up for your with the car.
@Jkp7749 my goodness you had to hit the ground running! Hugs to you and hoping everything levels out right quick...they are beautiful
RE: swaddles & blankets, for some unknown reason, we were given eleventy billion FLEECE and SWEATERY blankets...from people who know that we live in the seventh ring of hell for most of the year. So many we just put them all in a bin in the garage cause nobody got room for that until at least November.
I haven't read the randoms yet but I have my own to contribute -- this morning I FINALLY got baby stuff down from the attic and started (but definitely did not finish) packing the hospital bag. OMG there is so much crap. But we're doing it! We're going to be ready, I think! (especially if I'm not early.)
@Jkp7749 Oh jeez! You poor thing! That is a whole lot to handle. I hope the bumps are over for you and you have a smoother time now. Also your pictures were exactly what I needed today. They are so incredibly sweet. You have beautiful children.
@Jkp7749 so glad to see you here again! Im glad the delivery itself went really well but sorry to hear about everything that followed. Mastitis is truly awful. I hope youre all better or on the mend now and that its easy going from here on!
So my surgery was 4/20. My mom flew out 4/19 to help and was here through the evening of 4/27. My sister came out the morning of 4/27. It was wonderful to see them both and they were incredibly helpful with driving me around, cooking, cleaning, helping me organize my laundry room, and taking care of DS in the evenings - all things I can't do physically yet. I really am so thankful for them both.
BUT - my sister just left for the airport and I am alone in my own house for the first time in two weeks and it. is. bliss. I am pretty introverted and I don't think I realized how much I was missing that alone time. Here's hoping I have another threeish weeks of this!
@Jkp7749 - Sounds like you've had a wild ride! Hope everything settles down and goes smoothly from here on out!
@Raineydays86 - Hope you are feeling better after your surgery and I hope you get to enjoy your alone time for a couple weeks! It's always so hard having people in your home that long, even if they are there to help!
@Jkp7749 I'm sorry to hear y'all had such a rough start! I hope all of your girls stay healthy and out if the hospital and no more mastitis for you! Hopefully now you can just enjoy some newborn bliss. Congratulations on your twin girls. Glad to hear you're hanging in there mama!
@RainyDays86 I'm glad you get some peace and quiet. That's important for recovery and gearing up for a baby!
I have to catch up on posts from today, but we're in temp check mode again. I gave Jay a bath at 3 and his temp dropped to 96.5. Called the pediatrician and they said recheck in an hour - dropped again to 96. Called them and asked what next and they said check in 3 hours (7pm). If it drops again, we're heading to the ER.
A small reassurance is that the doctor said this isn't a seconds count type of emergency. It's just that if it keeps dropping, he'll have to be evaluated and probably put under lights again. I just hope that it's ok at 7 because I really don't want to go back to the hospital, and I'm worried they'd admit him and not let me stay with him (that might be an unreasonable worry, but it's where my head is at).

Jkp7749, my thoughts and prayers are with you! I hope that those babies stay out of the hospital and that you get some rest and can enjoy your new loves without any more worries.
@RainyDays86, I hope you have a relaxing few weeks before baby arrives! I'm an introvert, too, and while I appreciate family helping me the past week, it was so nice to be home alone today. Even DH was out

@kns1988 I hope his temp starts rising. Have you tried putting him in a onesie and a sleeper, with a hat? Sometimes they just need extra clothing to maintain temp or warm up.
We had our car seats installed last week and the CHP officer said to take out my seat protector. Well, it's thin fabric and covers the entire bench from dog hair & I was hoping to keep it in for double duty dog AND baby stain protection. Do you think I could put it back in?? All the protectors I've seen made specifically for car seats are only under the car seat but I want the whole bench protected!!
I just spent a lot of time looking for the weekend thread because I thought it was Saturday. Thinking of you @Jkp7749. I hope things settle down for you!
I'm so exhausted right now. My parents are here today and tomorrow, and they offered to help me deep clean my house. Today, we got the majority of the first floor done! I'm so incredibly thankful that they're helping (or, if I'm being honest, doing most of the work). But now I'm just pooped and seriously contemplating having a second ice cream sandwich.
@sweaterboots Why did he say to take it out?? We have one under our carseats, I don't see how one across the whole bench is different, but I'd worry about why he said to remove it. @starphish18 Jealous of your cleaning help. Have that second ice cream sandwich!
@sweaterboots@jayandaplus products like that are not normally tested during car crash tests with the seat installed so its not proven to be safe. Its recommended to use a product that is the same brand as the car seat. Same thing for any accessories that are "made for car seats". So if you have a graco seat for example then youll want to get a graco seat protector.
@sweaterboots I apologize in advance, I'm far too passionate about car seats. A true car seat tech would never install your seat for you, but rather teach you how to install it. What seat do you have? Most don't allow a protector underneath as they mask bad installs. Whats your seat protector like? Could you do it just beside the car seat?
Thanks for the well wishes! Jay's temp went back up to a very comfortable level and the pediatrician said not to check it anymore unless we have a reason to, like he starts acting differently or stops eating. He's actually acting more alert this evening than he's ever been. DH is currently giving him floor time, which is really cute even though I don't think a 9 day old necessarily needs floor time

@nda_roxybabe it was California Highway Patrol, she installed the first with us watching, then had us install the second base in my car. Safety is definitely number one so if it's true then we will give it away.
@pshaortao@jayandaplusMy upholstery is very light and with 2 dogs I just really really wanted the whole seat protected if possible. I can't seem to find a branded car-seat cover that isn't only covering the small portion of the seat where the car seat is. We got the Chico Keyfit 360. The cover is a thin fabric with holes for the buckles, not a thick rubber pad. It looks thick in this picture but the quilting is stitched, it's not filled with thick batting or anything.
I think most car seat protectors are a no go, @sweaterboots. Generally, there shouldn't be anything between the car seat and the seat of the car. If I remember, there's only one or two brands that allow you to use their own brands of protectors, maybe Britax and/or Diono?
@kns1988 I'm so glad Jay's temp went back up! When DD was born, we had the same problem with needing to keep her temp up. I used to put her to bed in a onesie, sleep, swaddle, sleep sack, and a hat (March baby in LA). It sounds like a lot, but it kept her temp up and if I saw she was getting too warm we took a layer off.

yea i I don't think Chicco allows any seat covers
Some car seats allow a thin blanket, towel, or mat.
Here's the link I use, but the car seat manual will specify as well.
